Obama over fist bumping?

Barack Obama and wife Michelle famously fist bumped when the Illinois senator captured the Democratic nomination.
Barack Obama and wife Michelle famously fist bumped when the Illinois senator captured the Democratic nomination.

(CNN) - Is Obama ditching his signature fist bump?

According to Tuesday's press pool report, the Illinois senator refused to bump fists with a boy as he was touring the Eastside Community Ministry in Zanesville, Ohio.

As the boy outstretched his first, Obama said no and added, "If I start that ..."

His voice then trailed off.

The presumptive Democratic presidential candidate popularized the move last month when he and his wife Michelle bumped fists on the night he formally captured the party's presidential nomination.

Watch: The famous fist bump

Video of the duo fist bumping became widely popular on the internet, leading the Washington Post to declare it “the first bump heard ‘round the world.'”

How dumb is Obama? Now hes gone and made the idiotic thing an issue just like they wanted him to. Does he have a brain? Can he think on his own? Or is he going to run to the barber shop when far-right lunatics to critique his hair cut? Just plain stupid on Obamas part.

Why nix it? Between him and his wife, I think it's cute. I hope people aren't insinuating that fist bumping is too "black" or "street" and are encouraging him to stop because of whatever subliminal message it might hold. Lame. This is 2008, people. And haters, get over yourselves, really.

Woa! Are we completely out of things to say about Obama????

This is not news. This is "Entertainment tonight"! Lets focus on the issues, not the props.

How cheesy...fist bumping your wife on such an occasion?? This guy is all about trying to be cool but when you look under his charade you find a conflicted individual. I find nothing to agree with, with Barak Obama.

So... why does Obama hold a copyright on the fist-bump according to CNN? Does Bush hold a copyright on walking and waving at supporters in turn?

    This is "news?"

Good God. You know, there are about 50 million voters out there insisting they don't know a thing about Obama's positions on the issues. How about some attention to remedying that?

Primary Barack was a cool cat... now he's too centrist to dap? What a disappointment. I'll still vote for him but this is part of a pattern... and it's really sapping my enthusiasm. This is not the candidate that I voted for in the primary.

Nothing cute or Presidential about it. Another attempt to exert some black pride. Howie, does it because he's obsessive compulsive, and won't touch anyone enough to shake their hand. The DNC, Left Wing Media, and Super Dummies, have done our nation a huge disservice. Unfortunately, now we have just a pathetic old man, and a racially challanged/confused, inexperienced rooky, to choose from. AMERICA UNITE! WRITE IN... HILL AND BILL! '08 WE KNOW THEY CAN! BECAUSE THEY HAVE BROUGHT OUR NATION BACK FROM EXACTLY THE SITUATION WE ARE NOW IN. IT'S A NO BRAINER...PLEASEEEE THINK ABOUT IT!!!

This is news, Barack and Michelle's fist bump? Of course it is, why would CNN report about McCain not paying taxes on one of his seven homes for four years, that isn't news, but the fist bump is.

What a waste of white space....

The real shame here is that the man can't be himself without somebody trying to overanalyze everything he does. The fist bump has been around for YEARS and just because a presidential candidate does something that appeals to the YOUTH THAT SUPPORT HIM, the critics come out of the woodwork with all of the rhetoric about terrorism and gangs and such. GET REAL...and WAKE UP PEOPLE! Like Gary of El Centro said, it's everywhere...Howie, the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, NASCAR, WWE, PGA...and it's not just because Obama and his wife did it!!! I guess if Clinton or McCain does the 'bump' it won't be a big deal huh? Look people, it's an action of casual respect to a person...not some terrorist or gang sign or some 'black' thing as some of you HATERS have put it...(HATER = FAKE DEMOCRAT = Clinton Supporter that turns to McCain because they don't want a black president – YES, WE KNOW YOUR REAL INTENT)...so get off your high horses and find something else to talk about...

I'm not an Obama supporter, but I saw absolutely nothing wrong with the fist bumping. As a young Cacausion male, I find it to be an acceptable greeting that puts me at less exposure to germs.

Has anyone ever watched a baseball game? Guess people would be happier if they hugged and kissed each other after every hit. I'm sorry but I am lost on the raucous on this one.

    OBAMA '08!!!

There! Is the liberal CNN filter satisfied now?
Once again I'm counting today's tickers and other than Obama's plan to spend my taxpayer dollars on religious groups, expanding the program that Bush already started, (criticized by the left when Bush did it, praised now that Obama wants to even expand it) I don't see any entry discussing any issues. It's about irrelevant campaign tactics or worse...

Ridiculous.... CNN Is obsessed with Obama. Where is the 'real' coverage of issues. CNN has become pathetic. This is just an indication of how Obama is not really his own person - but the result of groomers and handlers.
