(CNN) - Is Obama ditching his signature fist bump?
According to Tuesday's press pool report, the Illinois senator refused to bump fists with a boy as he was touring the Eastside Community Ministry in Zanesville, Ohio.
As the boy outstretched his first, Obama said no and added, "If I start that ..."
His voice then trailed off.
The presumptive Democratic presidential candidate popularized the move last month when he and his wife Michelle bumped fists on the night he formally captured the party's presidential nomination.

Video of the duo fist bumping became widely popular on the internet, leading the Washington Post to declare it “the first bump heard ‘round the world.'”

I love how the joke he was making is lost on people..
Churchill's V for Victory during WW2; thumbs up anytime (meaning good job), gimmie 5 in sports and other competitions, and so on - all good symbols and nothing to fear. The fist-bump is just another symbol meaning well done and is nothing like the raised fists of the black Olympians in the days of "black is beautiful." People should take a deep breath and move on to something more serious like global warming or the decline of America.

Obama is right, if he continues fist bumping, the republican media like FOX News, will focus and expand on it this not serious issue, making him look "Un-Presidential," while at the same time, focusing on serious issues for John McCain.

The bump is endearing. Don't lose it. There is nothing un-presidential in it. It has a touch of humanity. It's even sexy when he knuckle-bumps his wife. We need the levity.

That this garnered so much publicity is absolutely amazing. The fist bump is nothing new ... people have been doing it for a long time. But the love-struck media had to make a big deal of Obama doing it. He's either a) really smart to stop doing it, because he knows the foolish press will lose sight of what's really important and start talking about his hand gestures again, or b) really dumb to give up the guaranteed publicity. I'm not quite sure which it is ...
People need to get over the fist bump. Its the norm with the younger generation. My exhusband and I and all of his family used that all the time. I am a blonde hair blue eyed born and bred American Christian. I hard think that would make me a terrorist. Older people need to get with the times. Fist bump is in and I"m glad we'll have a president human enough to use it. I'm just sorry he has to quell a natural gesture for him and the younger generation just to appease old people.

The rest of the world can't wait to see the only remaining superpower reduced to their level, and Obama is their dream come true.
