Obama over fist bumping?

Barack Obama and wife Michelle famously fist bumped when the Illinois senator captured the Democratic nomination.
Barack Obama and wife Michelle famously fist bumped when the Illinois senator captured the Democratic nomination.

(CNN) - Is Obama ditching his signature fist bump?

According to Tuesday's press pool report, the Illinois senator refused to bump fists with a boy as he was touring the Eastside Community Ministry in Zanesville, Ohio.

As the boy outstretched his first, Obama said no and added, "If I start that ..."

His voice then trailed off.

The presumptive Democratic presidential candidate popularized the move last month when he and his wife Michelle bumped fists on the night he formally captured the party's presidential nomination.

Watch: The famous fist bump

Video of the duo fist bumping became widely popular on the internet, leading the Washington Post to declare it “the first bump heard ‘round the world.'”

  2. Please, No Obama

Obviously, the bump did not deliver the bump in polls that he wanted. Hence, its early demise. It joins the heap of Obama discards such as Rev. Wright, views on NAFTA, hand gun bans, social security, welfare reform, meetings with leaders of rogue nations, initial thoughts on Bill Clinton. I've heard of politicians evolving to the center, the right or the left over the course of a career. Obama has perfected the instant evolution process, achieving remarkable metamorphoses in days. If he had started as a centrist and stuck with it, he would have my vote, hands down. The pandering to polls on just about everything should rule this guy out in November.

I dont blame him, if he starts that he would have a terrable painful fist by the end of the day. Lets stick to the issues.

  5. Clinton to McCain Switch

What an idiot!!! This is why I'm voting for McCain!! Not on the actual issues, but on fist-bumping. See, Obama can't make up his mind. Fist bump or no fist bump?

Well I, for one, will vote for someone with a consistent opinion on fist bumping: Hillary. She ran the smartest campaign I've ever seen and had the election STOLEN from her by the fist-bumping Obama! So now I'll vote McCain instead.

Nevermind that on all the important issues that I should care about, he is the polar opposite. Nevermind that Obama and Hillary ran on nearly identical platforms. I'm voting for McCain because I'm angry for no discernable reason and I lack the capability of rational thought.
    Go McCain!!

I love how everyone living in a bubble thinks you have to be a gang member or a terrorist to bump fists. Barack Obama, you're silly for refusing to do it. I know you care about your image but uneducated white people are going to find fault with everything you do. Be yourself. It's what your supporters like about you.

Who cares? With the mess that this country is in after 8 years of Bush this is important? And the comments by people who think this is important is just as pathetic.

It's pathetic that so many people get "offended" by these non-issues, and it disturbs me further that Obama is giving into these idiots. I'm sorry but since when was the presidential seal a sacred symbol? And how is him putting his name on it offensive in any shape way or form? If you get offended by that you need to lighten up and get a life, seriously.

The fist bump really annoys me. It's not that he does it, but that people on some networks have called it a "terrorist" fist bump, and that anyone even cares that he's doing it. Once again, if Obama giving a fist bump offends you in any way, shape, or form, please...get a life. It's idiots that make big deals out of non-issues like these that keep voting the same dummies into office.

Wesley Clark says he respects McCain's military service, but that just because he was in Vietnam doesn't mean he has executive decision making abilities, and somehow that's an attack on his Vietnam Veteran service? Well then, i guess every vietnam vet is qualified to be president, even the ones that were doping up for a good portion of the war. It makes me ashamed to be an American to see how stupid and ignorant people in this country are. Maybe people have always been this stupid....either way. God save our country.

What would it have hurt to fist bump with the boy? Nothing! Obama doesn't seem to have much tact when it comes to dealing with people one on one. Come on this is a child! All he will see is the slight that Obama gave him, he won't understand the reason why. I don't understand the reason why.

It's a shame that Obama can't sneeze much less "bump" with out it being taken as some sign to terrorists or unpatriotic or (fill in blank). The first think Obama needs to do as POTUS is reform the educational system in this country to help it's citizens from think for themselves and stop them from believing everything on FAUX network.

Of course this is news... Fist Bumping on a national stage before a Democratic nomination shows how the Obama's view of this process. He (and his wife a potential First Lady) is arrogant, inappropriate, cocky, etc etc.. A presidential candidate on such a momentus occasion when he knows all eyes of the nation is on them, choose to acknowledge their success in this casual fashion.

Are they for real or they are too young and liberal to know that some actions and words should be done in private NOT IN PUBLIC !!!

For heavens sake, this is a national event !! HE MADE A MOCKERY OF IT !!! End of story. This man has no idea what is right or wrong and he consistently has proven it.

This presidential nominee is a joker or what ? Each time he gets caught doing something inappropriate, he drops it. Even a youngster knows that DECORUM is in order, especially you are on stage accepting something as serious as the first black man to be presidential nominee. GET A CLUE ALREADY.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a fist bump if you are in a small event or a private event or even a town hall meeting. IT SPEAKS VOLUMES ABOUT OBAMA AND EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG with him.

Can CNN tell us again about the time we did away with the "PRESIDENTIAL SEAL" that he tried to use a few weeks ago and had to hurriedly drop it ?

DOES THIS MAN HAVE ANY COMMON SENSE OR DOES HE NEED HANDLERS EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. AND THIS GUY IS GOING TO BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT ???? Welcome to the side show or is this the circus ?
