Obama over fist bumping?

Barack Obama and wife Michelle famously fist bumped when the Illinois senator captured the Democratic nomination.
Barack Obama and wife Michelle famously fist bumped when the Illinois senator captured the Democratic nomination.

(CNN) - Is Obama ditching his signature fist bump?

According to Tuesday's press pool report, the Illinois senator refused to bump fists with a boy as he was touring the Eastside Community Ministry in Zanesville, Ohio.

As the boy outstretched his first, Obama said no and added, "If I start that ..."

His voice then trailed off.

The presumptive Democratic presidential candidate popularized the move last month when he and his wife Michelle bumped fists on the night he formally captured the party's presidential nomination.

Watch: The famous fist bump

Video of the duo fist bumping became widely popular on the internet, leading the Washington Post to declare it “the first bump heard ‘round the world.'”

It's just part of the job. Everything you do gets ridiculed and played over and over a thousand times on CNN and Fox. Every moment could turn into a sound bit or something goofy on Jay Leno.

No, the fist bump was great!! I guess it's only for special occasions and Michelle.
Although, I dont at all blame Obama. The conservative media machine has Obama too scared to blink right now. The conservative media is always looking for any little thing (even a fist bump) to spin and cast Obama in a negative light.
Fist bump might be spun as unpatriotic, or it symbolizes that he doesnt have any respect for McCain's military service, or it's a black culture thing that's meant to put down white people, or they've seen terrorists fist bump once.
Obama's no dummy, he knows he has an uphill battle and doesnt want to offer up any ammunition to conservatives.

I saw them do the fist bump ONE TIME....how on EARTH does that make it his signature?

And Clinton, no, wait, McCain Supporter....please get over it. No one is going to look at your tantrum vote and say....Awww...he's really upset, it must mean something...let's all change our vote to make him feel better.

Having watched this campaign from late last year . . in many ways I amused at the Obama campaign. Apparently, they think that the voters don't pay any attention (or have a very short attention span) to what the candidates said during the primaries. Obama's group continuously accused the Clinton campaign of pandering to the voters . . . It doesn't take a genius to see that is exactly what Obama is doing now (not that he didn't do any pandering before) as he makes statements that contradict those he said during the primary. Is he telling the truth? Who knows? I do know he has never answered the question as to why he remained a member of a black liberation church where the pastor preached hatred and racism for 20 years. Where is his judgment, where is his honesty, and what really are his core values? WHO KNOWS????? And he is going to change Washington????

His decision to "bump" or not to "bump" is not an issue...Iraq is, the economy is, the housing industry is, our position in the world is, global warming is, energy crisis is....grow up!

You know it never cease to amaze me how trifling (no, wait. too cultural) how ignorant and simple minded people can be. I am an Obama supporter, but whether you support Obama, McCain or anyone else, please have enough sense to think for yourself and not allow ads, journalism, or any other source to manipulate you which ever way the wind blows from week to week. Please also use a little (not much) just a little common sense when it comes to analyzing what someone says. Lets stop allowing the media to manipulate and plant seeds that take anyone's words out of context. I would hope that we as adults could make that kind of decision on our own.

Clinton, no, wait, McCain Supporter – What exactly is your vote based on? Because if you were voting on the issues, the things that matter, you'd never be swinging across the endless ideological divide from Clinton to McCain.

So now that he has the democrats in the bag, how republican will Obama try to portray himself as being? Will he start going to a Baptist church? Will he have his photo taken hunting (hopefully with the gun pointed away from him). Will be frown at an abortion clinic?

So who is Barack Obama? Whoever he needs to be to get 50% of the vote plus one, I'll bet.

So what kind of "new politician" is he supposed to be? Looks like the same old kind to me except that it seems he never stops campaigning for higher office long enough to do anything in the office he's just been elected into.

One month does not a "custom" make. Time to ditch that ghetto crap.

Michelle looks at home doing it, but not BO, and he knows it.

"Fist bumping" is not something new; it's something that is original; to the "Black experience" and the "Hood". It's not something, that's derogatory; in nature. It's a formal gesture among friends, that's all........nothing, to be afraid of America!

    To Clinton, no wait, McCain

Hopefully, if you were a strong Clinton supporter, you will eventually be able to get over your anger, sadness, frustration, and listen to Hillary and look into the issues. If you supported Hillary for her stand on issues, you can't seriously support McCain. If nothing else, honor Hillary by supporting the candidate she supports, despite the tremendous disappointment.
