(CNN) - Is Obama ditching his signature fist bump?
According to Tuesday's press pool report, the Illinois senator refused to bump fists with a boy as he was touring the Eastside Community Ministry in Zanesville, Ohio.
As the boy outstretched his first, Obama said no and added, "If I start that ..."
His voice then trailed off.
The presumptive Democratic presidential candidate popularized the move last month when he and his wife Michelle bumped fists on the night he formally captured the party's presidential nomination.

Video of the duo fist bumping became widely popular on the internet, leading the Washington Post to declare it “the first bump heard ‘round the world.'”

He didn't make it popular, people have been doing it for decades. The only reason he isn't doing it now is because the news media is so ridiculous that they make a story out of nothing.
As trivial as it may seem this action disturbs me.
Is he his own man, influenced by his generation as much as everything else he has experienced?
Or is he just another politician doing whatever it takes by morphing his actions, his positions, image and words to get into the oval office?

I have watched the children in my neighborhood fist bumping for about the last two years or so........white, black, Hispanic and Asian.

Obama, I do not know who your new handlers are, but you need to relax, if you like the fist bump then fist bump. You do not have to get rid of every single part of you for Americans to understand who you are and what you stand for. Be yourself, be honest and stand up for what you believe in and the issues. This is what the American people want. Do not play to these tired Republican, Karl Rove games of letting them define you. Only you can define you.

He shouldn't have left the poor kid hanging. But there's gotta be better things to talk about than whether or not Obama still fist bumps.
I think it was an incredibly stupid thing to do for a presidential candidate and potential first lady. I noticed at the time that Michelle instigated it that first time, that he didn't respond for a bit, then bumped fists with her. I think he didn't think it was anything to do at the time. And she then tried to make it a big thing, by bumping fists on "the View" where it again looked silly.
The poor things need something sensible to do, instead of trying to start a silly "fad" that has been around a long time for teens,etc.
I wonder if he will stop saying " Lets Give It Up for" now to. LOL

Um, Gary, I know you probably have been immersed most of your young life in a television culture, but the office of the Presidency is typically a thing of great respect and not some TV show. I would prefer to have a leader, not a pop icon.
