RNC prepares for ad blitz

An independent expenditure arm of the RNC is set to take aim at Obama.
An independent expenditure arm of the RNC is set to take aim at Obama.

(CNN) – The RNC has created an independent expenditure campaign that will go up with its first TV ads in crucial battleground states this weekend.

CNN is told the first buy is in the ballpark of $3 million, and the subject of the ad will be “energy security.”

Parties are allowed by law to set up an independent expenditure campaign as long as it operates independently and does not coordinate on content or strategy with the party.

“Following Barack Obama's decision to become the only major party presidential candidate in history to not adhere to campaign spending caps, the Republican National Committee has begun an independent expenditure campaign in accordance with FEC regulations," Brad Todd, a consultant to the RNC's independent expenditure unit said in a statement. "The RNC will first advertise this weekend in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, highlighting the issue of energy security, which is emerging as a defining difference in the race for president."

The White Boys of Obama will be working over to time to counter this air strike. Dump Obama. We want Hillary Clinton in the White House. Write her in to win on the November ballot and take back her stolen candidacy.

How can the RNC go there? What are they going to say? "I'm the party that put Big Oil in the position to screw you people"?

i certainly hope they highlight his years of doing nothing in the IL senate except voting present, his 3yrs in the U.S. senate voting for earmarks that got his wife a raise, spending half his term running for president and NOT doing the job he was elected to do, his lousy judgement and neglect for subjecting his children to racist, anti-american rants on a regular basis in church, and his ability to outspend his opponents and still LOSE a substantial number of votes.

Obama would have been left a pauper compared to the RNC/527/McCain money, if he had opted for public financing.

Good for him! He did the right thing by opting for true American
    funding. Funding by the people.

The people want Obama. Beware the power of many.

I just hope all Americans–Republicans included–rise up and tell the RNC that this is not the way to run a campaign.

But, as we have seen in the past, it does work.

Good, Obama's energy policy is so superior (and believable) relative to McCain's this is going to be a way to focus on Obama's strengths.

Obama supports individual rights to bear arms folks. NRA just wants a war in Iran it seems. They don't care about gun rights.

    @Steve
You really aren't all that smart are you? To address your oil statment they would only be able to drill 50 MILES not feet off the coast. You won't be able to see the rigs. And yes oil companys hold many leases BUT most don't have oil, there is no sense in drilling for oil when there isn't any. Also they may hold the leases it doesn't mean that the states allow them to drill with out going through a multitude of hoops and red tape.

Stop looking at the oil companys like they are evil cause while they make high profits they only see 5% of that due to taxes. Oil companys are the largest tax company in the US. If you want to go for some one with high profits and little taxes go after some of these universites. Yale I belive makes millions and they pay very little taxes. I can't remember the report to well but if you look it up you'll find it.

Most of you are brain washed by the liberal media to belive that oil companys are the enemy, and that the goverment shood control them. Well guess what that is a step towards communisum. So keep talking Comrade.

I appreciate the pretension that they wouldn't have set up these sorts of independent add campaigns had Obama agreed to campaign spending-limits.

Of course, the truth is, Obama had to opt out of the spending limits precisely because the RNC would do this kind of think, anyway, and the DNC is severely out-gunned.

I am confused, how is it a smear campaign? Are they going to put up the same kind of ads that MoveOn.org put out?

RNC group doing negative ads against Obama!

The reason is obvious, or they would spend the money glorifying McCain- guess there isn't enough there to work with!

Yeah...who will speak up for Big Carbon????

Oh yeah McCain. Let's cede over whatever remaining resources we have left for them to squeeze a few more billion out of us before we're left high and dry on energy because nothing has been done to get us into the future.

Yet more evidence that a vote for McCain is a vote for more of the same.

Ofcourse they are prepping for an ad blitz. They will lie, smear, and do what ever it takes to bring out a vote against Obama. They wont let McCain just stand his policies up to Obama's because McSame will lose.

So they will try to personal attacks on Senator Obama, his wife, his daughters if they can!

See...this is exactly why Obama made the decision he did to not accept public funding. The republican party affiliates have billions to spend to attack Obama on everything. Dems do not typically have that sort of money so I think it was a strategically wise decision that exhibits excellent foresight on behalf of Obama.

have at it, losers!!!! this is going to be HILARIOUS!!!!!

"republicans" and "energy security"--that makes about as much sense as "OJ" and "father of the year"; "PETA" and "meat suits"; "dick cheney" and "the light of day and/or garlic necklace"; "mccain" and "POTUS".

take your silly games and go play with someone else, the grownups have a country to take back!!!!

Mike. Must you refer to Obama as 'That black guy". This is dispicable. Obama is not black mind you, he is mixed which means he has both white and black blood in him. How racist can you be? He is an individual like you. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. I bet you will not get your moneys worth come November. Count on it.
