WASHINGTON (CNN) - White House Deputy Chief of Staff Joe Hagin will be leaving his job this month, according to White House spokesperson Dana Perino.

Perino says Hagin's last day will be July 20th.

"The President said that he thanks Joe for his service to the White House, that Joe's been a loyal friend, and that he is excited about the next chapter in Joe's life," said Perino.

Hagin sent an email to friends this morning, announcing he is leaving to take a private sector job.

Hagin, an Ohio native, has been with President Bush since the 2000 campaign.

Combined with experience during the first Bush presidency, Hagin has served 14 years in the White House.

Hagin was a behind-the-scenes player, who had a huge role in the post 9/11 reorganization of the U-S government and how terrorist responses would be reformed.

Can't take the heat anymore. Imagine being part of an administration that everywhere you go, there are about 65 – 70% of people angry at you. I probably would quit too.

  3. It takes sound judgement, not experience

I guess his conscience wouldn't allow him to stay any longer. How funny. Bush and mccain constantly have people jumping ship, i think it's hilarious.

Wow. Those are some seriously double-chinned pasty dorks. Do you think getting beaten up in high school is what made Karl Rove so evil?

Good riddance. Now if someone could just get Bush to resign we'd all be better off.

He's running scared. This guy knows that when Obama takes over the White House there will be consequences for their crimes. He's running now in hopes of sneaking under the radar of the big criminal investigations that will be on him and the other infamous Bush criminals. You can run but you can't hide.

These people are a disgrace and are responsible for America's worst times in history. they have trampled on everything good that this country once stood for.

let's take the whole guilty bush administration out back and put them down, perino too. November can't come quick enough.

Another rat jumping ship to secure a job in the private sector while he still can?

I believe Bush now leads in most former, high-ranking cabinet members to desert.

Either that or Hagin is getting in line to get his dividend check from Halliburton.
