WASHINGTON (CNN) - White House Deputy Chief of Staff Joe Hagin will be leaving his job this month, according to White House spokesperson Dana Perino.

Perino says Hagin's last day will be July 20th.

"The President said that he thanks Joe for his service to the White House, that Joe's been a loyal friend, and that he is excited about the next chapter in Joe's life," said Perino.

Hagin sent an email to friends this morning, announcing he is leaving to take a private sector job.

Hagin, an Ohio native, has been with President Bush since the 2000 campaign.

Combined with experience during the first Bush presidency, Hagin has served 14 years in the White House.

Hagin was a behind-the-scenes player, who had a huge role in the post 9/11 reorganization of the U-S government and how terrorist responses would be reformed.

    OBSERVATION:
WHEN I SAY BUSH W IS THE WORST PRESIDENT IN U.S. HISTORY I DON'T GET CONTRADICTIONS.
    TRUE?
THEN WHY WOULD YOU STILL THINK ABOUT ABOUT VOTING MCCAIN.
    PARTISANSHIP?
WE GROUPED OURSELVES AND SUPPORT WHOEVER OUR PARTY NOMINATES. I THINK THIS IS STUPIDITY AT ITS FINEST.

    SUGGESTION:
WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO DECIDE FOR OURSELVES WHO THE BEST CANDIDATE IS AND NOT VOTE FOR WHOEVER OUR PARTY NOMINATES.

    STOP THE MADNESS. VOTE OBAMA.

Two of the not so bright republicans, texting someone you're standing next too. Thank goodness we don't have to put up with that another 8 years.

Golly– do he & Rove look like clones???

Anyway, it's normal for staffers to start to exit the last 6 months before a presidency ends.

Personally, if it had been me, I would have exited the Bush administration a LONG time ago just on principle. It'll be interesting what all comes to light about this corrupt unethical administration once they're out of power and unable to stonewall attempts to gain access to information they've held secret all these years.

It's disturbing to read the dismissive and hateful comments that people drop here. They've never met this guy. They don't know him or his work. They've never heard of the guy until today. He's put in 14 loyal years to his country. He worked hard and made a difference. Whether or not I agree with everything he did doesn't change the fact that he DID SOMETHING. I say "thanks for the memories" and wish him the best.

Haha. Why aren't they all jumping ship? The rats are staying on a sinking ship and it's nuts. Maybe he's leaving cuz he doesn't want to go on trial for another war with Iran....

Yeah, can't wait for the book. You know, all these peop-le in the administration just make me wonder....was there ever any leadership?

Too bad Nancy P doesn't have the guts to impeach so we can begin to get this country back together.

Hey, Mrs. Speaker, we hired you to lead, not to sit idely by because you are afraid it might split the country. Let's get this guy impeached, then put in jail for lying, and for murder.

It won't be long and the Obama bloggers will have CNN all to themselves. Then they can just talk to themselves all day long until the Election. By then it will be too late to hear anything but their own voices.

If you think just because we have become silent that we are gone from the political scene, think again, We are still out here and ready to vote for John McCain in droves. Just remember "if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it mean it didn't really fall'? We do not hear you anymore, you are just talking to yourselves.

    Watch out for falling trees!

I love how all the liberals are so negative on here and know no true facts:
Bush is not the most unpopular president :that would be truman after he dropped the bomb that saved millions of american lives in ww2

but liberals made him unpopular as well cuz we were figting in a war... see a trend there?

Glad to see that he's finally getting off of the W administration payroll. They all quit doing anything constructive years ago. They all should resign, out of respect to the legal blue-collar Americans and as an attempt to restore some integrity to our leadership and some respect for our country.
