Another Depression? Nope, a McCain presidency would only deepen the current economic crisis we find ourselves in. How dare the oil companies and the current administration tell us to curb our consumption? It's our consumption that keeps things going. We should be drilling on our lands and putting those who are sticking it to us right outta business. Send them back to their desert tents. STAND UP, AMERICA!!! Our wages haven't kept up with the cost of living, goods, services, health insurance, or much else for at least 20 years. Hmmmm, I feel something trickling down, but it's not some pseudo-intelligent Republican's idea of smart economic policies.

See Europe... unemployment rate is over 10%... in the US, it's between 3-6%... depending on how bad the economy is doing.

So, by electing a far left liberal talking about change and complaining a job loss, he will then institute policies similar to europe, where they have a very high unemployment rate because why work when the government can take care of you through taxes.

I wanted to comment on the previous ticker "McCain denies grabbing foreign official", but it's closed now. So here we go: Brian, you got a good point there - your reasoning makes sense and this article is actually funny.

And YES I would vote for McCain over Obama in the heartbeat. Better have a president with a temper who can stand up and protect us and our country when necessary (that's McCain), than a spineless empty suit who, without preconditions, will negotiate the fate of our country with the tyrants such as Ahmadinejad and Chavez (that's Obama).

Together We Can! United We Will!

McCain 08! McCain All The Way!

It is going to stay this way as long as we keep depending on this WTO that is NOT working at all for the everyday person. The only way we will get back on the right track is for us to start getting more self sufficient. The American know how has done it before and it is time to do it again with all the talent we have out there in the USA. And we get leaders with the insight that Ross Perot had because he sure was right about that big "Sucking Sound" . He scared a lot of people in very high places.
Google him. Very interesting.

John We The People

We want more of George Bush tax cuts.
We want lower salaries and a worthless dollar.
We want more people to lose their jobs.
We want to keep our troops in Iraq for 40,50 or 100 years.
We want to sell America off to our enemies
We want you to spy on us for terrorist sake.

JOHN WE TRUST YOU TO DO WHAT WE KNOW YOU WILL DO.

McCain:

1. "The American people cannot afford an economic agenda that will take our country in the wrong direction and cost jobs." - so why are you proposing the same Bush tax cuts for the wealthy during a time of war? And why do you support a lopsided trade deal like NAFTA and CAFTA that ship our jobs oversees and imports lead toys from China?

2. "At a time when our small businesses need support from Washington, we cannot raise taxes, increase regulation and isolate ourselves from foreign markets." - Who said anything about isolation? We live in a global society that cannot be reversed. And trade deals like NAFTA need to be regulated in America's favor, otherwise we get lead toys from China for example.

3. "These are the same old siren songs that have failed the American people time and time again." - The entire platform you stand on (i.e. Bush tax cuts, privatization of health care, off-shore drilling, no help on education, continuation of the Chinese-funded Iraq war) has been proven a failure. No matter how much you try, 2+2 won't equal 5.

Bring on the debates so Barack can dismantle McCain's baseless argument for all the country to see. A young, brilliant, and coherent top-dog lawyer v. senile, lobbyists-loving, Bush-hugging old coot.

"same old siren songs"...?
Oh McCain, you make it sound like an ancient fairy tale - one that you've had a leading role in for the last eight years.

Time to put this story to a close - and pick up a new book.

McCain will have no credibility with the economy or security, while he 'enacts a plan' wrapping the same old book with a 'change' dust cover.

Just because you change the name, doesn't mean it's not the same!

Vote for actual change - Obama 08!

B Hussein Obama.......

You are correct the economy is bad I think we need to raise taxes......That wont cause small businesses owners to let people go.

I cant complain, I am college educated via way of the millitary did 10 years of sevrvice for my country while getting my Masters Degree and am currently a target for the tax the so called "Wealthy" plan.

Liberals make me sick....Instead of waiting for free hand outs why dont you worry about helping your self. Repeat After Me It is not the Governments job to help me support myself. Tomorrow, I am going to enroll in night school and work 2 jobs if need be to better my self and make a better life for my family. I will no longer be held hostage hoping to have a democrat in office to support me.

Now dont you feel better

Hey, who needs competition!

Do like Obama did - challenge all of the petitions so you are the only one on the ticket. It's that simple! That way, the people have no choice but to vote for you.

Change the Rules
Change your Stance
Change your Religion
Change your Close Friends
Change the Party

Change Obama can make you believe in! I believe it!

It won't be long and the Obama bloggers will have CNN all to themselves. Then they can just talk to themselves all day long until the Election. By then it will be too late to hear anything but their own voices.

If you think just because we have become silent that we are gone from the political scene, think again, We are still out here and ready to vote for John McCain in droves. Just remember "if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it mean it didn't really fall'? We do not hear you anymore, you are just talking to yourselves.

Watch out for falling trees!

Obama is the least electable democratic candidate, in a year when a democrat can NOT lose the election.

That is why the DNC and the left wingers worked SO hard to install him as nominee. EVEN an unqualified, ineperienced left wing socialist radical elitist has a running chance in today's political climate.

It was NOW or never for Obama- a country that is in such a bad way that even the worst democrat appears to be better to many people than the best republican.

Winning by default- that is the Obama way since he has no merits and no track record.

Americans want a viable economy sensitive to environmental concerns–NOT A REPUBLICAN ECONOMY DBA the Bushes, Cheneys, and McCains. The Republican economy just cost another 60,000 jobs this past month alone. The Republican economy has taken gas prices from $1 per gallon to $4, energy prices, and food prices unspeakable. The Republican economy will have caused the appropriation of over $2 trillion to Iraq, a trillion owed to China, a loss of homes to homeowners, college education affordable to the rich only, and likewise for healthcare. The Republican economy has cost the lives of countless people. When Bush "hit the ground running", he
allowed mailing visas to 9/11 terrorists posthumously.

Not only is the Republican economy impervious to the plight of regular American families, it is also impervious to the environment. Republicans especially have fought regulation, environmental concerns and safeguards to increase corporate profits. Now we face verifiable global warming irrespective of the health, safety and wellbeing of people–from Katrina victims to tomato lovers. Under the Republican economy in light of all of the foregoing, regular Americans will simply continue to suffer in order to make the filthy rich richer. But, McCain need not worry–he married money.

What steps are YOU going to talk to improve anything? Nothing? Just talk. Admit it, you're out of your league buddy. Go away.

Only Pres. Bush increased employment by directly/indirectly hiring 2 million at the federal level (the greatest payroll increase in the history of the country.) Presidents have no business hiring to boost the employment numbers just to make it look as though our economy is shot. Ours has truly never recovered since 9.11 on the employment front.

Cut the losses now with one large dump -- fire 72.5% of the federal workforce and reward business for tapping-into "our" talent with real jobs to compete in the global marketplace. That is what I want these candidates to say. (And I believe Ron Paul was on board.) That is how we grow this economy, through innovative businesses, and without government intervention.

McCain can not bring American jobs back.
Obama can not bring American jobs back.
Hillary Clinton would not be able to do so nor any other future President.

The only people who can do it are us. But we don't want to! What we want is to shop, shop, shop for the piles of a very cheap stuff we really don't need.
Every time you buy a piece of sophisticated electronics for $29.99 or anything costing 99 cents, ask yourself how this product could be made so cheaply?! Don't want to? Well, don't complain that American jobs go offshore. We are the ones who send them there.

The average American does not know that so far under GW Bush's presidency that America has gained 5.1 million jobs under Bush's last 7-and-a-half years. Under the Bill Clinton presidency America gained 22 million jobs over 8 years, and gained 5.1 million jobs in the last two years of Clinton's presidency.

Also under GW Bush the US national debt has gone up from 5.8 to nearly 10 trillion dollars. That is a $4.2 trillion increase in 7.5 years!!!! Under Bill Clinton the national debt only went up $1.6 trillion in only 8 years.

And McCain wants to continue the Bush economic policies? NO THANK YOU!

I agree with everything the McCain statement said. Even Obama’s statement was similar when you overlook the Bush bashing.

But, neither one of them proposed any concrete solution to actually fix anything. “…calling on Congress and the President” is not concrete. “…enact a job-first economic plan..” is not concrete either. They are both telling people what they want to here, but which one has real answers?

Americans are loosing good paying jobs to china and india, so in return they are spending less and our economy is weak.

By the way did you see him on the plane leaving Columbia?....Lieberman corrected him on his gaffe....he didn't even know when he talked about the prisioner release. Cindy gave him a hand too, it was BEFORE dinner.

Imagine not being able to remember something that happened 6 hours before.

Obama is in the catbird seat, because the media put him there and now he thinks he's an expert on everything. If this guy gets elected, there will be 4 more years of ineffective leadership, missteps, excuses and a terrorist attack that will make 9/11 pale in comparison. Pep rallies and arrogance does not a make a leader.

Your postings have NOTHING to do with the issues.

Why aren't you asking HOW both candidates plan to turn the economy around when BOTH candidate's current plans will only increase the national deficit by Billions of dollars?

Nether Obama nor McCain have sound economic plans. Neither!

Obama's plan will increase taxes, increase inflation, and the national deficit. McCain's plan will cut taxes to the wealthy and increase the national deficit. Obama's plan calls for spending the "War" money at home, but that is borrowed money from China! Obama and McCain BOTH are for NAFTA and WTO. Obama just flopped on renegotiating contracts...McCain will veto every pork barrel bill, which is a start...but how is either candidate going to create jobs if it is more lucrative for corporations to send them overseas?

A quarter from 1964 contained about 90% silver and could buy about a gallon of gas. It took about five of those quarters to get an ounce of silver. Look at the value of an ounce of silver today and divide it by five. Ironically (sarcasm) it's about the same as a gallon of gas today. If our money were actually backed by something gas would still only be around 30 cents a gallon.

Wake up!!!

Gee, Obama will change his position next week. Now he is trying to get out of bringing our troops home in the time period he said. I can't remember what was his position on the time limit. I will research it. Mark my words it won't happen. One day one way the next day another way. Every issue has been a flip flop so far. You need to look at the whole picture and not be one sided Please don't think I am for McCain either. If I vote in November, I will try to figure out who will do the worse damage and vote for the other person. After having not missed a election in my adult life and always voted for Democrats, I am ready to stay home on this one. I don't like either candidate. Why - I could write pages of reasons.

Though I hate the thought....John McCain has a pretty good shot at being elected president (not dog catcher like I hoped). Has anyone seen the National Polls? Obama up by 2% and of course withing the margin of error. How could this be? Does America dislike Obama so much as to want to continue the Bush legacy for another 4-8 years.

Yess ...I said 4-8 yrs. Because there is the strong possibility that Jeb will be his VP. How about that America? Let's see 16 year's of Republican rule. Bombs away Iran ...say hello to $10 a gallon gas.

And mile long lines at the unemployment office. Why because some americans would rather suffer than elect that "Barack guy" What a country

It's time for this country to get rid of the old politics and start anew. That means voting for Barack Obama and getting some fresh new faces in the Senate and Congress. Don't you just love listening to the ideas of Senator Webb and McCaskill instead of McFart and his cronies. Don't you think the Senate will work better when it is rid of people like McFossil, Leiberman, and Larry "Wide-Stance" Craig.

Let's get out of the dark ages and out of the war.

Obama will create opportunities. His plan laid out yesterday is just the beginning. McCain will continue more of the same Bush policies. Select McCain and you're on your own.

The economy was doing just fine until the Left Wing Democrats took over congress.

The past two years have put our great country in deep do do.

It is going to take a really smart player with the right relationships to work with both parties to get us on track again.
