Bush heckled during July 4 speech

CNN

Watch protesters interrupt the president's speech.

(CNN) - It's The Fourth of July, but not everyone was in a festive mood when President Bush delivered a speech Thursday at Thomas Jefferson's famous home, Monticello.

The President, who was talking part in Monticello's annual naturalization ceremony, was interrupted several times by protesters.

"War criminal!" one protester repeatedly yelled as she was escorted out by Secret Service members.

"He has brought fascism to this shore," another man yelled.

The president did not appear to acknowledge the protesters.

The President may not have "acknowledged" the protesters but he certainly hesitated and appeared a bit off afterward., so he knew they were there. I wish you people in the press would Stop portraying this little man as some kind of stoic hero. He is one of the most undemocratic presidents in recent history, and you in the press have enabled him. It's time to stop, the game is over.

McCain will not take the U.S. out of Iraq. Obama will not take the U.S. out of Iraq. Cynthia McKinney will take the U.S. out of Iraq.

Question your allegiance to the two-party system. Vote for REAL change.

    Vote GREEN in 2008!

To hear your two sides -"Democrats" and "Republican" go at each other, at this rate you will all get to enjoy something you know so well from the past.. civil war. Do you forget the pictures of Bill Clinton walking between George and George with big smile on their faces? These guys are family friends, mocking all of you. Hillary in power wouldn't stop the war. You have Obama talking about "service." Folks, you are going to get drafted for the REAL BIG ONE, whether you vote democrat or republican.

If you want to do something about it, DO IT – stop whining on the Internet. Has it done anything in the past 8 years? I think not!

PS: Please don't use depleted uranium ammunition on each other, I'd prefer not to have MORE of your waste filling the air over my country and killing my country(wo)men.

Here's the problem... If Obama gets elected, and Dems control the house and senate, WHO are the liberals going to focus their incessant hatred on?

They might actually have to start thinking for a change, instead of relying on the drumbeat of hate.

    LISTEN UP!

i have a musician friend who recently traveled to UK for a gig.

at the Boston airport, the security / police demanded him to give up on his books, which were not exactly pro-Bush-co, or else.

they said to him, "you can't bring those books into the airplane. you have choices: give them up or you can't board."

he argued fot his constitutional right, but to no avail. he had to give up the books for the trip!

"free speech" my arse, George Fascist War-criminal Moron Bush!

his mom should be ashamed of herself for giving birth to such disgrace to humanity!

you bet he's gonna sue the authorities! stay tuned!

"Those of you who are claiming that the US is now a terrible plac e-you miss the whole irony of this post – they disrupped a ceremony to bring in New Citizens…. if we are so horrible – why are they having such a problem processing the paperwork for all of the people who want to become Americans?"

Its not terrible compared to many places, but its a sad shadow of what this country used to be and what it used to stand for. Lets hope that our path changes soon, as many have said above, our founding fathers would be incredibly disappointed at what we've become. They hoped to evade many of these problems by creating the country and government however did not anticipate that so many liberties would be stripped and that so many areas of government would fail to protect them.

Bush deserved everything he got and more. And to you that hate Obama so, and want to put the blame on him. First those hecklers were not youths and neither were they Black. Besides this posting is on Bush and how you got over to Obama is beyond me or anyone with good common sense.

No one is going to beg you to vote for Obama, that is your choice.
Go sign up for the armed forces on Monday, and maybe mccain, can make sure you will be the next ones in line to go to war.

Happy 4th of July America !!!!

Love how the right wing feel they can abuse the 1st Amendment and cry foul play each time any one else speaks up....

So why was so many afraid of letting the president of Iran speak, when so many are willing to let Bush speak ??

Dave, Illinois, so when Americans get attacked in Iraq or some where else it is not attacking America ?? We are by no means any safer then we were in 2000, rather we are more unsafe, a lot more terrorist out there now and a lot more people hate us... Even our allies in Europe are loosing their power.

Spidey, What allies ??, i think the far right wing, like you, are wacked... Just look at the pastors preaching hate and war against the muslim world...

The survey says: Iraqis, looking back, overwhelmingly preferred life under Hussein. All of the infrastructure (utilities, food supply, etc) was functioning, Christians were free to practice their religion and you didn't live with the constant stress that war creates.

George Bush is a war criminal and will burn in hell for all the innocent people who have died needlessly on his watch, due to his incompetence and outright evil intent.

He was too busy cutting brush to read a briefing about the upcoming terror attacks. He was too intent on avenging a threat on his dad's life to care that thousands of American soldiers and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis would die. And now he's rattling his sabre at Iran.

And only ONE PERSON has the GUTS to call him on it?!

This isn't about Obama, McCain or Clinton. This is about AMERICA.

In other countries around the world, people take to the streets when they're upset with their government. And often these governments listen because they know they serve on the whim of the people. They're afraid of the power of the people. In America, the people are afraid of the government.

Something for us ALL to think about on this Independence Day.

I don't know about Bush being a fascist or bringing fascism to America. He may well be a war criminal; that remains to be discovered and proved. I think he probably is a war criminal as is Rumsfeld, Cheney, and Rice. What George W. Bush is for sure is a moron, a perfect idiot. And he has caused more harm to this country than any enemy ever did or has.

LOOK AT THE WOMAN REAL CLOSE AND YOU WILL SEE WHY SHE WAS HECKLING A REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT. THE ONLY ONE GOOD ENOUGH TO SET THESE KIND OF THINGS UP IS NONE OTHER THAN THE ALPHA AND OMEGA OF THE AAs. WHAT A STUPID REMARK. YES IF PRESIDENT BUSH WAS FOOLED ON THE WMDs THAT WIPED OUT WHOLE VILLAGES IN IRAQ. THE WEAPONS OF GAS THAT HUSSAIN USED ON THEM THAT'S WHAT. WHAT DO YOU THINK OUR TROOPS SUFFERED WITH WHEN THEY CAME BACK FROM DESERT STORM. WAR IS HELL. NO ONE EVER EXPECTS IT TO BE ANYTHING ELSE. TAKE IT FROM ME I WAS IN NAM TWICE SERVING MY COUNTRY IN MY 28-YEARS OF PATRIOTIC SERVICE. I AM NOT A HERO. THOSE SOLDIERS THAT FELL AROUND ME AND BESIDE ME WERE THE HEROS. IN THE MEANTIME WE HAD TO LISTEN TO WHAT WAS GOING ON IN AMERICA. WITH ALL THE PEOPLE RUNNING TO CANADA. ONES BURNING THEIR DRAFT CARDS AND THE PRESS KILLING US AS WE TRIED IN VAIN TO WIN A WAR OF HUMANITY. INSTEAD WE WERE JERKED OUT AND LEFT THOUSANDS TO BE SLAUGHTERED. THE SAME WILL HAPPEN IN IRAQ. BECAUSE NO ONE DIDN'T FIND WMDs DOESN'T MEAN A DARN THING. THEY WERE THERE. IT IS A HOT BED FOR TERRORIST. HUSSAIN DID SUPPORT BIN LADEN. A COMMON FACT KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE MILITARY IF YOU HAD ENOUGH RANK TO KNOW. IF YOU PEOPLE DON'T HAVE THE STOMACH TO GO AFTER THESE MURDERERS THAT KILLED OUR FELLOW CITIZENS ON 911 THEN GET THE DICKENS OUT OF THIS COUNTRY. LIKE THE SCREAMING WOMAN YOU CAN BET SHE HAS NO ONE IN THE SERVICE. BESIDES I DON'T KNOW WHAT ALL THE NON SOLDIERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT IT IS STILL A ALL VOLUNTEER SERVICE. YOU DON'T WANT TO GO AND ARE COWARDS THEN DON'T JOIN THE HELL UP. IN THE MEANTIME SHUT UP AND VOTE FOR OBAMA. HE'LL SAVE YOU. HE'S GOT THE PLAN FOR A GREAT CHANGE IN AMERICA. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH HIS PLAN HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOW WHAT IT IS. MAYBE IT'S REZKO FOR SECRETARY OF THE TREASURE AND THE REV. WRIGHT FOR SECRETARY OF DEFENSE. OH DON'T FORGET PLEGHER HE'LL MAKE HIM OVER THE JANITORIAL DEPT. AT THE WHITE HOUSE. YOU KNOW HE'S WHITE. OR I COULD BE WRONG AND REALLY NOT KNOW WHAT HE IS. In the meantime the Americans need to quit yelling about bringing our troops out of the middle east. we need to stay for the sake of America staying a country. Especially the country we love. Don't let people like Obama destroy it.

While I disagree with such rudeness, it seems that today, our politicians offer the common citizen very few opportunities to really be heard. If they have taken a position, they seem to ignore poll numbers that are in strong disagreement... and they rationalize their positions with explanations that leadership sometimes means moving against the tide.

However, there are majore concerns such as balancing a budget, or the trillions of dollars of money owed to social security and the looming federal pensions and medicare.

Is there no way for our leaders to stop running for office constantly, establishing their legacies, and finding ways to spend tax money back in the areas where the votes are counted?

It is unfortunate that people are not respectful of the president...especially on the 4th of July. But it is even more unfortunate that our politicians often to not tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth to the American citizens. Lacking that level of trust, it is not surprising that people begin to take freedom into their own hands. As the politicians often tell the media, the public is collectively very aware. And has been patient until recently. Now when they begin to speak up, our elected officials should begin to listen or the voices will get louder until they do.

Dissent is fine. Protesting is fine. We should all appreciate those who fought and died to give the citizens of this country the rights and privileges that come with citizenship, especially on this day.

But WHY? WHY?, disrupt the naturalization ceremony for these fine people who believe so much in this country and what it stands for that they came here....LEGALLY...and worked hard to become citizens?
How about a little respect? How would you like it if I came to, let's say, your wedding, or your graduation, or your mother's funeral, and made a jerk of myself?

As I already said, protesting is fine, but take it to appropriate places and events.
