Obama may accept the party's nomination at Invesco Field.

(CNN) — Call it location, location, location.

Barack Obama's campaign is thinking of having the Democratic presidential candidate give his presidential nomination acceptance speech at a football stadium rather than in the arena in Denver, Colorado, where the Democratic National Convention is being held.

CNN has confirmed that discussions are underway between the campaign and Denver's convention organizing committee to move the senator from Illinois' acceptance speech from the Pepsi Center, a basketball and hockey arena which seats around 20,000 people, to Invesco Field at Mile High. The football stadium where the Denver Broncos play can seat around 75,000 people.

A bigger crowd could make for a more compelling picture and image.

One problem could be the weather. The stadium is open aired, and susceptible to afternoon and evening summer thunderstorms, while the arena is closed to the elements.

The story was first reported in the Los Angeles Times and by the Associated Press.

Obama campaign spokeswoman Shannon Gilson told the AP that no decisions have been made.

The Democrats' presidential nominating convention is scheduled to open on Monday August 25 and close with Obama's acceptance speech on Thursday, August 28.

Hispanic For McCain   July 4th, 2008 1:28 pm ET

HIspanic for Obama
Being a Hispanic myself, I know that what you are saying on how Hispanics will vote is so true!! They will vote for Mc Cain, the polls are not true reflecting that Obama has the Latino vote, he doesn't and will not have it.

Nevertheless, I am a Democrat, I am a Hillary supporter, and I will be voting for Obama in this election. Why??? Because I am sick and tire of paying the high prices at the pump, I want this senseless war to end, I want more jobs created, affordable healthcare etc….. etc.

Hispanic for OBAMA I happen to be a Dem myself and this clown OBAMA is a flip flop, a total Fruad and not for the Hispanic People. I am also a Hillary Supported and let me tell you my friend all of Hillary Latinos Connection is not going to support OBAMA. That is fact and you know it!!!! the Puertorican people in NY don't trust him, and I am sure the Mexican people to include the Cuban people and all the Hispanic BROTHERS AND SISTERS don't trust Obama. So my Friend my advise to you is to get with the PROGRAM and Join our fellow LATINOS (Hispanic) people and join a true American Hero John McCain. Remember John McCain is a American First before his Party and The Hispanic people respect that very much!!!! That is why the LATINOS Nation will support McCain. This question to you? what has OBAMA done for the Hispanic people guess what NOTHING NADA!!!

To Mama4Obama, thank you.

Those that want to remain in the past, stay there. Or move. Get used to hearing President Obama. You can't stop history being made. MLK Jr. said this day would come 45 years ago.

I dare McCain to give his speech again while Barac is giving his. Lets see the contrasts again like we did on June 3.

Josh Schreiner   July 4th, 2008 1:25 pm ET

Can his ego get any bigger? I don't know, we might have to move his acceptence speech to the moon to fit.

It's nice to see that you are so sensitive now that the name calling is directed at Obama. You choose to see racism where none exists. Where was your outrage when Obama supporters were trashing HIllary Clinton with every name in the book. Where were you then, did you call on CNN to moderate the hate directed at her by the hope and change supporters that wanted Obama elected. You are such a hypocrite to cry foul now, when it was Obama and his supporters who trashed and demeaned a great woman everyday so he could get elected. I hope that CNN lets this post through, so you know that we are on to what a huge hypocrite you are. You certainly are nothing new in the Obama campaign, you cry racism over every negative comment. You use race to divide us. Why don't you talk about what Obama stands for other than "hope and change". You can't because he stands for nothing. Since he got the nomination, he has back peddled on FISA, gun control, the death penalty, faith based Initiatives, public funding and now most importantly pulling our troops out. This man is a phony and you support him with your racism whining.

A nightingale Sings in Berkley Square   July 4th, 2008 1:21 pm ET

HERE IS HOW retired Gen. Wesley Clark chose to peddle Barack Obama for President over John McCain:

"(McCain) hasn't held executive responsibility. That large squadron in the Navy that he commanded — that wasn't a wartime squadron. I don't think getting in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to become President."

Hasn't held executive responsibility? Let's see, Obama's executive responsibilities have included what? Right. The answer is: nothing. And thank you, Gen. Clark, for pointing out that John McCain commanded the largest fighter squadron in the U.S. Navy. He didn't just command it; he turned it around.

"Although plagued by fatal accidents in the past, the squadron had no fatalities under his command . . . and won its first meritorious unit citation. Mr. McCain's success attracted notice among the admirals in Washington," The New York Times reported in 2000.

McCain's qualifications do not come from being shot down. They come from a career in military and foreign affairs in which McCain displayed an uncommon strength of character and developed a sound judgment in those fields, which are so critical to the United States in this dangerous world.

His opponent, a career lawyer and politician, has shown that his own judgment in those areas is naive and ill-considered. Clark highlights those differences every time he seeks to denigrate McCain's service.

Spew your racist, hateful drivel all you want, folks. It ain't gonna change the trajectory of this presidential election. Obama will win. It doesn't matter whether it will be a landslide or narrow victory. A win is a win and this will be the BIGGEST win in U.S. history.

As for racists animals like Texas Trail dog and Alice in Florida, they use the blogs to sound off because they wouldn't dare spew their nonsense directly to the faces of black people. You are cowards, plain and simple. Nobody is afraid of you and nobody cares how you feel. Please, I dare you to say that foolishness to me. Fortunately, there are far fewer of you than there are decent, un-biased, Americans.

It's so easy to sound like an idiot in print. Be brave and take the chance of getting your head knocked off by saying how you really feel to the people that matter.

I have been wondering for a very long time who his stage director is. That person should be up for an Emmy or Oscar, Tony or what ever. This whole Dem party that has backed him has been a stage show.
No wonder that so many people treat him like a star instead of Presidential material. I sure would like to here about his real changes. He is starting to sound like he has taken pages from Hillary's play book and mixed it up with some very strange, forgien and out dated ideas.
The Dems burned their platform many yrs ago so I went Independent but it is still trying to figure out the "lessor of 2 evils" to vote for. This is really a very scary time for voters if you really look at everything.

DisgruntledDem   July 4th, 2008 1:16 pm ET

Johnboy, don't you read? He has already won the presidental nomination for the democratic party. He is formally accepting the nomination at the convention. Scary that people who are so unitelligent are voting.

*sigh* honestly the media circus has already made Obama the most visible candidate out there… look at CNN's political stories. There is not one legitimate news company out there that can give fair and balanced coverage, because no one would watch the news then.

With that being said, the three most visible candidates this entire election (McCain, Clinton, and Obama) I would not have given these candidates the time of day to run my country if i was a founding father of this country… McCain wants an endless war, Clinton was very unlikeable, and Obama has proven himself to be a flip flopper, and surrounded by some of the worst characters that have been dug up in a campaign. With the democratic controlled congress, if the president were to end up being the most liberal person in congress (which happens to be Obama) there would be no compromise. That's the entire reason why he's being pushed is to push the democratic agenda of more taxes, more spending, and more special interests.

obama lovers are so sensitive to any critique of any aspect of his position or posture. Not everyone believes he is the perfect candidate.
This blog is full of commentators that believe that the man is the second coming of the greatest American. Some of us see a lack of record behind a dynamic speaker. So don't hate if some of us expect more out of a man who may become the leader of our great country.

Harry   July 4th, 2008 1:14 pm ET

World peace, wealth creation, environmental issues, restoring human dignity and pride will not be achieved through the colour of ones skin or ethnic origin. But through a will and desire of all peoples to 'emancipate ourselves from mental slavery, non but ourslves can free our minds' (Marcus Mosiah Garvey)
Senator Barak Obama is correct, 'Change we can believe in'.
And change we must. We cannot keep doing the same things the same old way and expect better or different result.

Right on and ride on President Barak Obama. You did not choose your parents or your name. The sun shines on all of us and so does the rain fall for all of us. Blessings.

Pretty amazing how many sheep, keep repeating the refrain, "Obama has no policy ideas… he's all about image."
Obviously, if one bases their opinion on Fox News, or soundbites, he has no policy ideas.
But for the rest of us, we can go to his website, or just listen to his many policy speeches, for answers… rather than following what we're told to think.

Ken   July 4th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

This is so stupid! Who does Obama think he is? Obamam has lied, flip-flopped, backed out of public finance, now changing his stance on bringing our troops home from Iraq!

Obama must think that he is the second coming! What a joke! I hope that the weather changes to the worse and pours down rain, snow and a thunder storm that could strike him with lighting.

I can not believe that there are so many "Blind People" following this liar! Obama will tell the American people what ever they want to hear, just as long as it can get him elected. Mark my words, if Obama is elected, what him change his stance to prove that all he is is just another politician that we say whatever to the American people to vote for him. What a shame!

NO WE CAN NOT!!!!

nnate, OH   July 4th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

The negative comments do not make sense at all. Holding the Democratic National Convention in a place more open to the public does not imply elitism, but accountability. It is refreshing to have a candidate unrestrained by tradition.

It amazes me at how the majority of people above consider those of us who wish to see a position of substance from this guy, HATERS. Has this nation become so mindless that glitz and glamour decide who we vote for. Obama, regardless of his skin color (for those above who think that anyone who doesn't vote for him is racist) gives you rock bands, football stadiums, an entourage fit for a Hollywood action star, et all. Why doesn't he give us HATERS what we want, a clear, concise, and consistent position with an explanation on how he intends to accomplish his goals. For crying out loud, we are his boss and he is applying for a job. If all it takes to get the job of President of the USA, is an affinity to sports and a smile, count me in. This will be a really close race. And Dems are the underdogs here. The dem hick south will probably vote for McCain since there is no way they'll vote for a black candidate with a funny name. Some Hillary supporters will vote for McCain too. This is ironic because if they're talking about political ideals, their basic stances are the same. But it doesn't matter what the candidates' positions are. Look how they made a big deal over a stupid pin. Seriously people, a pin. What moron gets swayed by whether or not a candidate wears a stupid pin? (Answer: Sadly, 85% of the public). And Mike from Syracuse, what positions are you talking about? Do you even know? I highly doubt it. You'll vote with your gut reaction like most people in Nov. which is largely based on aesthetics anyway. That's why you're right. Looking good IS more important and being repetitive in public speeches is key so each candidate can recruit people who rely on TV and others to do the thinking for them.

The thing that OB talks about the most that I love is "WE THE PEOPLE" So he should give his speach in a large arena so WE THE PEOPLE can attend, instead of the powerful few. This is another example of how He tries to include ALL of us. It would be easy for him to have a small event with the rich and powerful, Like I'm sure McShame will do. It's great that he wants to include US.

For those who say he has no substance you need to STOP listening to the sound bites, and speaches and do some research. He has clearly laid out his plan for america.

FYI he has NOT changed his view in Iraq. STOP LISTENING TO SOUND BITES!!!! 1st change the mission in Iraq, Start bringing the troups home, The goal is to do it within 16months, BUT he will take into consideration the conditions on the ground. That may mean going at a slower pace, it may mean going faster. No one can predict what will happen so he's keeping his options open. Unlike Bush he stayed the course no matter what.

Now there is a racist issue… the black national anthem? The strange thing about this is, This man is 50% WHITE and 50% BLACK. He is a mixed american, that goes to prove racist by the media and it fuels the fire for other non-diverse persons because they dont even acknowldge the fact that he has both of our cultures all in one.

This man has an advantage because he has seen both sides, black and white hatred. If you dont like him tough. He will be our next president. Either get over it or relocate, AMERICA WILL CHANGE AT THE HANDS OF SENATOR B.O.

Obama wrote two books and made enough money for he and his wife to place one million dollars in a fund which is TAX FREE. If he likes taxes so much, why not put this money where it can be taxed? He is not a patriot, just read his first book.

This election is not about the color of your skin. Most of Obama's supporters are white but he has about 97% of the black people. Now that is racist. You call us McCain supporters racist; look in the mirror.

To puma pac people – I have seen better tempertantrums from a 2 year old. I am appalled and disgusted to hear that a so-called democrate could vote republican.

Mungen_Cakes   July 4th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

The Portland event was no free concert, Jon. I was in line with my daughter 2 miles from the entrance and no one around me had any idea that The Decembrists were going to play. We were all there to see Obama prior to the Oregon primary election.

GOP is in Decline   July 4th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

I love how the Republicans are envious that there is so much excitement in the Democratic party…The Republicans are having do much trouble to get volunteers at their own convention, while there is a waiting list for volunteers at the Democratic Convention

WOW the Racist messages here are the most you can find on ANY MSM web-Blog. Why is that CNN?

On this one alone I see ZOO, Hitler all sorts of things that most respectable news organizations have filters for. Since you Moderators have to proof read all of these and ALLOW them to be published CNN Must APPROVE of their nature.

That is why I come her once or twice a week now instead of 30 times a day like I used to.

That will be awesome to hear the cheers for Obama when the stadium is filled!!! I would love to be there too!

Judy   July 4th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

How about in his old Chicago ward? Now that would be great. It is place where he can spotlight his successes.

Maybe, he could have all of his Chicago political machine buddies there – including Ayers, Wright, Rezko (they might let him out of jail for the day), Pfleger would definitely be on the invite list, Farrakan, Black Panters, all of the recipients of grant monies to privitie the housing developments in Chicago.

I think it is a winner – lets move it into the housing development that he has so supported in his career. The developments and individuals that he has taken good care of, and made sure that there was change in their lives.

Let's stand united to make sure that this change for his speech actually takes place – it will show America what he is all about – and his sincerity for helping the American people

Linda Cralle for Obama   July 4th, 2008 12:42 pm ET

He will never win in November and it has nothing to do with his two colors…it has to do with his judgements and his two faces!!!!!!!!!!1

mike obama   July 4th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

Texas Trail Dog, Anything you utter bad about Obama you will be called a racist. The gullible youth even called former President Bill Clinton a racist, which in fact he is not. Obama will win this race by placing a race card or it may backfire. Americans are not ready yet for a woman to be their president, maybe they are not ready yet for a black man (anchor baby) to be their president.

The only thing historical will be how bizzare this race has been and how quickly OBAMA will fall once McCain and his team wakes up and STOP BEING AFRAID OF OBAMA AND HIS SUPPORTERS PULLING THE RACE CARD!! This guy's CHANGE includes changing every word he says – every commitment he makes and hiding from his past by pulling the RACE CARD! PEOPLE GET OVER IT!!
He talks about religion but NEVER mentions the ONLY church he went to – a BLACK POWER CHURCH! 20 years supporting anti-American and Anti-white propaganda. UNACCEPTABLE!

Don't think of this as showy and arrogant. Think of it as a chance to reach more people. Isn't that the point of a democracy?

Minneapolis/St. Paul has a stadium too. Nothing is stopping the Republicans from pursuing something similar.

We have suffered for seven long years under the near-dictatorship of an incompetent leader. Isn't it time to celebrate?

Susan from Scotts Valley, CA   July 4th, 2008 12:28 pm ET

You're right Republican. There are a lot of hate comments like Alice from Florida calling Michelle Obama a big butt woman with a tan. It's really sad. I love my country and this whole dialog is just sad.

Yes, Obama inspires me when I hear him speak, but I also believe in what he stands for – his position on the war, his health care policy proposals, his economic recovery proposals, his position on energy, his policies on education, and on caring for our Veterans. Positions that some will say are Clinton's policies (fine) but if you agreed with those policies, how can you now vote for McCain? Yes, McCain has more experience so yes we know what he will do…and we can't afford it.

xddy4u   July 4th, 2008 12:27 pm ET

You nay sayers can blog all the idiotic comments you want. Obama is Da man. That's right go for the gusto Obama. I rather see fire works bursting over him, than see a burning cross some of you want to see him in front of. You KKK minded idiots.

Jerry, Denver,CO   July 4th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

We here in Denver support this idea 100%!! Invesco would be the perfect place to do it, 75,000 people all cheering, with the rocky mountains in the backdrop. Minneapolis can't come close to competing with a scene like that, it will completely over-shadow the GOP convention. GREAT IDEA!!!

Oh Lois   July 4th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

Fascinating comments. If you're inclined to criticize a candidate for choosing a larger nomination venue when the available audience clearly supports such a decision, then your mind probably is too closed to be persuaded by anything that candidate says or does.

This year, Obama supporters are betting that most people won't be so closed-minded. This candidate is backed by the most potent arsenal of economic and foreign policy experts to ever line up behind a single candidate. Virtually the entire economic team from the (President) Clinton administration supported Obama even while Hillary Clinton was still a viable candidate. These are the same people who (presumably) would be part of an Obama administration, and his nearly flawless campaign has shown that he knows how to run an effective organization. Tie that in with the clear respect for him abroad (something President Bush has never had) and the obvious history of his candidacy, and the case for Obama is quite compelling. Let's hope enough people understand that.

Clinton/McCain   July 4th, 2008 12:24 pm ET

I don't know what happened to the Democratic party. I thought the Republicans who voted for Bush twice had problems, but it seems as though many Democrats are no better.

One more thing to show this person is a grand stander and has no idea of how to run this country and revive the economy, provide jobs and most of all provide renewable energy….Wonder what kind of dance he will do at a party, if he wins, bet he'll chant and wave, might even give everybody there one of his speeches, written of course, by someone else.

Unfortunately he took his power and perverted it later on. Obama is gaining momentum because the people believe in him. By your statement, are you saying Obama is going to persecute the jews when he gets into office or are you just using good old fashioned scare tactics that you've been taught for years?"

Actually if Obama is going to mandate how churches do bussiness through a new faith based system then it is alot like what Hitler did.
If he makes them hire and do bussiness based on fedral guidelines he will be forcing them to go against their own belief systems.
Churches would in effect become controlled by the state.
If a church becomes an entity that is filled with people who reject Christ it is no longer a church.

Sandra   July 4th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

This is outrageous!
The reason they want to move his acceptance speech to the stadium is because Democrats opposed to Obama have been organizing to protest at Denver.
Obama's people want Hillary's name erased from the ballot
They do not want a roll call vote
And now, on top of all that, they want to move his royal highness to LA?
This is outrageous and unbelievable!
Do people realize, moreover, how much federal taxdollars have been given to the DNC for their convention? And no Obama is going to be a no-show?!

I want a public servant- not a self-serving public pop icon.

I want a candidate for the people- not a candidate out for himself and out to secure his place in history.

Where is Hillary?

Why wasn't she allowed to take it to the convention? Ted Kennedy as 800 delegates behind and HE took it to the convention.

Jill Claybourne   July 4th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

The TOTAL AUDACITY OF OBAMA

1. He has his own seal ("presidential"?) displayed

2. He is already redecorating the Lincoln bedroom

3. Now he is thinking of using a NFL stadium

This man is nuts. How can all you foolish people still trust this man? It is beyond believe. He changes his mind about issues almost daily….he's wishy washy, arrogant, a liar and not a patriot even tho he is trying to act like he absolutely loves American and has always been pround of American, unlike his wife. Now he is acting like a Christian conservation. Baloney.

Tari   July 4th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

The Audacity of Hope or merely audacity?

Theatricality, ostentation and self-importance arre the essence of Obama, the quintessential "typical black person."

Obama simply wants to put on a show. The sports arena venue has been done before, both by John F. Kennedy and more notably by Hitler who was the master of putting on a propaganda show at a 'Sportspalast.'

To borrow a quote from Saddam Hussein, "This is all theatre."

Only HRC for me   July 4th, 2008 12:17 pm ET

I am liking McCain more each day.

The Lorax   July 4th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

Wow, I'm surprised by the number of cynics who are lost somewhere in the past. We have finnaly found a president with an ounce of presidential poise and all they can do is throw stones and call his supporters mindless and his campaign "scary" .
Yeah its scary, to the rich 5%, yeah its scary, to all the right wing hawks who want to spend our hard earned money fighting fruitless wars. It is not scary to poor families, students, and veterans like my self who know that they will be in good hands if Obama is elected.
Democrats should be grateful that we finally have a candidate with the kind of magnetism that draws supporters from all walks of life and party backrounds. Quit complaining about Obama you spoiled brats.
You want to talk about ego? Ego is invading a country over the objections of the whole world. Ego is pulling out of the Kyoto Accords. Ego is answering the fears and anxieties of the American people with "so?".

mama coo   July 4th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

Oh for goodness sake, how about worrying about problems that ordinary Americans are having like filling up their gas tanks, stopping the war, stopping the stock market slide, fixing the dollar. Who care where you accept the nomination. For a person who doesn't want this to be about race the Obama camp always makes it about race. Accept the nomination at the convention and then start telling the American people how you plan to take this country in the right direction.

Hey, "American" (not much of one, IMO), McCain is honoring his country by holding no events today. Barry, by campaigning on the 4th of July, clearly is putting his own ambition above any respect for our nation.

And, sure, he can fill up Mile High, he'll just have another free concert before his speech, just like he did in Portland. It's sad how little it takes to buy votes these days.

John Robert   July 4th, 2008 12:03 pm ET

Obama and McCain are so similar now that it would be good if Obama chose McCain as his VP. McCain could help Obama with his decisions on the Iraq War. He could really refine all of Obama's positions so we can stay there for another 8 years (all this talk of 100 years is balderash because the President can serve only two terms) so we can plunder Iraq's oil–don't forget that big oil just made a deal with the Iraqi gov't.

AT   July 4th, 2008 12:03 pm ET

I think this is a wonderful idea. I am on my way to Denver! This is a great time for America. It is amazing that Senator Obam will accept this nomination on the 45th anniversary of the March on Washington. My family was at that march and I will be with some of them at this event as well. I am humbled and elated that God has blessed my father and others that have endured the attrocities of Jim Crow to see such an amazing day in American History. Whereever this event takes place it will not be big enough to hold the people that will attend. I totally ignore the negative posts and I celebrate the accomplishments of my people, Black, White, Hispanic, Native American, it does not matter. I see my students for the first time actually talking politics and they are totally engaged! People are voting in record numbers in states that they were denied the vote just 40 years ago. What a time in our History!!! Let us celebrate! I will see you in Denver, with my 98 year old aunt! What a time!!!!

What a huge Ego. He has a Messiah Complex. All the kids who follow him around are the same kids who's parents never took them to Church. If it wasn't for Obama many of these kids would be Hare Krsihnas. They are projecting all their wants and needs on Obama's blank canvas. He's just taking advantage of them. His campaign manager David Axelrod is marketing Obama like he's going to bring "change" when in fact he's just a typical politician.

Is becoming president of the United States all about show? When will Mr. Obama, CNN, and other news media tell about the real Obama? He is after all the MOST liberal senator that we have. The media has put a filter over the cameral lens so as not to show the real person and what he really wants for this country. The people say that they want change – really? What kind of change? What has this man done so far in his career that shows us that he can lead? He is a media star, nothing else. I have been disappointed by presidential candidates before but I have never been afraid of what the future holds if a particular candidate was elected. Now "for the first time in my adult life", I am frightened at the prospect of a President Obama.

I am not surprised that the Obamas would want a bigger show. His whole campaign is all show, bells and whistles – NO SUBSTANCE. Why should his nomination speech be any different?

A bigger venue is an excellent idea and including a greater number of non-delegates is a refreshing change. After 8 years of incredible destruction by the present administration, Americans, including a record number of Republicans, are aching for a smart, articulate president who will choose to put billions into domestic programs, in order to bring back prosperity, instead of wasting tax-payers' dollars on an endless, wasteful, bogus war.

should you really be denegrading Senator Obama's message?

You're like a bitter Christy Brinkley, in her 4th divorce proceeding. You are looking for anything that you can remote attribute as a negative to the man whether it is relevant or truthful, or not!

Toby Turner   July 4th, 2008 11:55 am ET

What a great idea! Obama's crowds have consistently maxed the space available. What a meaningful message to have standing room only and lines around the parking lot after seating 75,000 people in the stadium! What an inspirational message to the US and International communities who await his promised change! Remembering the crowd at Bill Clinton's Presidential Library opening ceremony, we understand that the weather does not uninspire greatness and it does not uninspire support for landmark events!

The Obama campaign runs like the housing bubble: a manipulative
Ponzi scheme – a lot of speculative frenzi with utterly no real values.

The question is will it peak in time comes November or will it have crashed by then.

This man has the same effect on his rabid supporters and promoters as Hitler had in Germany.

Just deliver a speech about how wonderful America and Americans will once again be, and watch the silly ninnies all swoon and obey the call.

Obama has brainwashed the youth of the country by taking advantage of how frustrated, angry and bitter they are after 8 years of a poor administration.

He provided no clear answers or solutions- just big promises and a hype of hope, marketed as a pop idol.

That is how tyranny roots- by blind allegiance and unflagging loyalty, NO MATTER what the demagogue may be peddling.

except his last stop when he spoke outside to over 65,000 people…..I think he could fill a stadium……..

and to you dissenchanted dems……its not ego driving Obama, its excitement……..Records, stereotypes, voter registration numbers, attendance, volunteers; all these numbers have been broken and its due to excitement……politics is not suppose to be exciting, but this time, like it was with John F kennedy or MLK Jr. is allowing people to be inspired, learn and organize to help change this countries future for the better

Think about it, did anyone know the name Barack Obama in 2006? Probably not……but His vision for this country, his policies and his organization are what has propelled him from a nobody 19 months ago, to a worldwide recognizable figure……

American political commentary has always been infested with sports metaphors, so this just makes sense.

Plus, Obama's campaign and football have something else in common — whites going gaga over black "heroes" whose "negatives" they somehow always seem to overlook.

This is by far the most irritating election year I've ever seen. Not because of Senator Obama or his historic nomination, but for the refusal of of so many to accept change. Senator Obama is not Messianic. He is not an elitist. He is not an egomaniac. So many of you are negatively defining him because of his "difference." He does have policies. He does address issues. But it all seems to get lost under the heavy weight of racist attitudes. I'm not suggesting that everyone that opposes Senator Obama is a racist. I don't believe that. However, when I read these blogs I am convinced that racism is driving the attitudes of many. If Senator Obama does something good, he is pounced on. Each and every word that proceeds from his mouth is over-scrutinized. Face it America. This is a new day. It is the new millenium and change looms on the horizon. In November of 2008, change will blanket this nation when Barack Obama is elected President of the United States of America. It is inevitable. So, get yourselves prepared.

stevem   July 4th, 2008 11:52 am ET

I remember another political leader having a rally at a rather large stadium…. ADOLPH HITLER! Does anyone else in America see what's happening here? A charismatic, well-spoken motivational-type speaker is about to be anointed savior of the United States without having ANY REAL accomplishments to his name, and he keeps preaching about how when he's president, he will make sure large oil companies no longer have great profits. He will make sure the government helps everyone pay their mortgages, etc. etc. SOUNDS A LOT LIKE A TRUE SOCIALIST TO ME! Hitler did great things for Germany in his first 3 years in power…… and then????? What's going to happen with Obama? I don't trust him.

And we claim that we are all tired of Bush and his cocky, boastful, mocking, jeering, self-impressed, full of himself, self-important airs of superiority.

Obama is just too concerned about his place in the history books and NOT So concerned about working for his country.

What has he done so far? What are his qualifications for office of the presidency? What experience has he had doing anything other than delivering a heck of a speech- written by others in advance?

Lynn   July 4th, 2008 11:50 am ET

His arrogance just keeps on going. I guess he will bus people in like he does to alot of his speeches. They are usually not the local crowd. Like for instance the crowd of 75,000 – most were there for a concert. Our little town – gets 100 – 125 thousand for our summer concerts. So I'm not impress. Of course that would give more people the opportunity to protest his nomination. He was selected by the DNC not elected. I'll be in Denver. Let it rain.

Jake Writesel   July 4th, 2008 11:49 am ET

This will be a historic moment and it is nice to see people from all persuasions will be able to have a chance to share in it. As far as these claims about Obama not having a plan for health care, energy, the economy, and foreign policy they must not be paying attention or just do not want to. Maybe they are Republicans. AS far as his plans for taxes go he intends to let the Bush tax cuts to end for those rich folks and work out another stimulus check plus about 1000 more in tax cuts. SO maybe you need to do research. Also the candidates' plans for taxes were compared and it found we make out way better with Obama's plan.

I would be concerned about the much higher level of security (and therefore cost) that would be required for such a move. The increased security, including police presence, will cost the city of Denver millions, and the city is already struggling to pay for its share of the convention costs as it is.

I think it would make a great image, but I think the city would probably prefer to keep everything at the Pepsi Center.

Why not hold it on the lawn of the white house?

There are no limits to this man's self-centered sense of self importance.

How did his ego get SOOOOOO big, given the fact that he has yet to do anything at all for his country?

Obama has spent all his time in elected office, campaigning for the next higher level of elected office instead of performing this job at his current elected office.

He has no qualifications, experience, track-record, or resume. He trashed Hillary on all her positions- and NOW, post primary he has embraced her entire platform (except for the ALL important UNIVERSAL part of Health care plan) as his own.

I voted for Hillary because she was a true moderate, centrist, populist. Now I will vote for McCain for the same reasons. Both have the ability to get things done by working across the aisle. Both have a track record for doing so.

Obama? Not so much. He changes his positions daily, has no record to look back on, and can not seem to stick to his convictions, defend his positions and work to enact change.

Hillary was the best. McCain is now second best.

why do I believe this?
because no one in their right mind would throw a huge party with only a small number of guests. it would look very stupid and poorly planned. (like throwing a party that nobody came to) I really doubt barack is about poor planning (primaries).

He may not need it if he keeps shifting his positions. I feel better every day about voting for McCain- the difference keeps narrowing.

As a Hillary democrat who will be voting for McCain, I am insulted when people call us sore losers. We are true patriots dedicated to the principles of fair politics.

We are neither angry nor upset that Hillary lost. We are dismayed, appalled and incensed by HOW and WHY she lost.

She lost due to unfair electoral processes, anti-Hillary bias, outright sexism, a pro-Obama media, a corrupt DNC, AND… the ugly, negative strategy of agitating intra-party hatred used by the Obama campaign and Obama supporters.

We are not racist. We do not think either gender or race are legitimate factors in choosing the best person to lead our Country.

But we do oppose and despise the way Obama used race as an issue to divide not only fellow democrats, but all Americans.
Obama uses race as a shield and as a sword against his detractors. Obama repeatedly injects race into the campaign.

Roe vs Wade – overturn it.

Gay Marriage – deny it.

Tax breaks and loop holes for oil companies – give it.

War in Iraq – 100 more years should do it.

Yep, those are the kinds of views we want in the White House.

If you like a struggling economy, poor finance rates and your house being worth nothing, vote McCain.

At least he has opinions on issues.

And he will fill it too. Old McBush would barely fill a phone booth with the few tired losers that he has show up. McBush once was a good man 8 years ago, but he had to sell out to the same party hacks that bought Bushie his one and a half election wins. As with Hillary, 90% of the implied evils in their positionms and personalities are GOP fabrications. Charges have to be invented and stuck to these real leaders or the public might start looking a wee bit to close at the lack solid of merit in the McBush campaign. The 15% difference in some polls is about right. He merits no better.

Free Concert by Popular Band Preceded Obama’s Big Rally

By Robert Knight | May 20, 2008 – 17:16 ET
From CNN to the New York Times, the media hyped Barack Obama's Portland, Oregon rally on Sunday, some comparing him to a rock star.

Unmentioned in national reporting was the fact that Obama was preceded by a rare, 45-minute free concert by actual rock stars The Decemberists. The Portland-based band has drawn rave reviews from Rolling Stone magazine, which gave their 2005 album Picaresque four and a half stars (out of five), and another four and a half stars for 2007's The Crane Wife.

Democrats 08   July 4th, 2008 11:24 am ET

Do it indoors. Why risk a disaster outdoors if it were to rain or thunder and lightening, or worse yet, a tornado , thanks to the polluters (Republicans) for global warming and all these storms we now see on the rise.

Do it indoors.

Jim   July 4th, 2008 11:24 am ET

As a very strong Obama supporter during the run for the Democratic nomination, I am troubled by his recent flip-flops on Iraq etc. And now this. It is gving me second thoughts about who and what Obama is about , and what he will do as president.

bpower   July 4th, 2008 11:23 am ET

The DNC has gone off the deep end. They were hijacked. I still look at OBAMA's resume and think, WHAT????

PUMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ess   July 4th, 2008 11:22 am ET

History is being made…..go for the larger place. Those who do not like it is just jealous because they see that ALL Americans can come together without hanging each other.

SMART1   July 4th, 2008 11:21 am ET

To those PUMA's & Repulse-licans posting negative statements you are haters because your candidates have no supporters to fill such a venue. It's not being Egotisitc to want all of your supporters to be able to be apart of history. This is HISTORY you fool's!!!!!!!!!!! It's not about him it's about his SUPPORTERS. Stop looking for an opportunity to put this man down for everything he does. If you support your candidate then support him but leave ours alone. I hope to be there as one of the 75,000

Barack Obama 08′

AA   July 4th, 2008 11:21 am ET

I love posts like "he's all about image". He's all ego. Write Hillary.
Pot meet Kettle. Let's check our reality now hmmm?

Americans, are all about image. Be it Forrest Bush and his cowboy outfit, to the obsession with all things material that lead to record amounts of debt, from the SUV and 8 cylinder must have the muscle that has brought us into record gas prices, from the pant suits to the lapel pins to the war hero.

So what, or more accurately whom, are you really talking about?

You have the choice of yet another leader who cannot even form english sentences that are written out for him correctly, who represents and supports all that has gone bad in the last year…

or an articulate statesman who will represent cultural diversity, progressiveness and confidence.

The choice is pretty clear to me. And do not pretend to think that you know or understand what either person will do while in office. We do not have that insight or knowledge.

You ARE picking a figurehead. Choose wisely.

Geneva   July 4th, 2008 11:21 am ET

I think that someting new is terrifying all non-Obama people. People fear what they don't understand and hate what they can't conquer and this situation is no different. The fear Obama and his plan cause they don't understand His purpose of reaching all people instead of a few. They hate his charism, style and swagger because they can't conquer his attitude. They can't make him do what they want him to do, instead he keeps his composer and great attitude towards his country. And like I said before, they want more so for him to debate and fuss on petty issues instead of the major issues of the world (war, education, needy states).
Go Obama and make the World more comfortable with each other instead of all this hatred.

Donna   July 4th, 2008 11:17 am ET

The Broncos suck anyway…you won't miss anything!!!

There is nothing arrogant about this…it is a HISTORICAL moment and as many people that can be a part of it, should be..it IS a proven fact that the man draw HUGE crowds and a stadium would be a good idea to allow more people to be there..

And of COURSE image is important….don't kid yourselves!! Who wants someone in office that can not DRAW a crowd or hold anyones interest? Maybe McCain wouldn't have gotten panned about the green screen if it were a more lively event…

..now Mother Nature may be the only factor that would nix the idea…

So many haters, so little time…lol…

JohnBoy   July 4th, 2008 11:17 am ET

What if he does not win?

HATERS STOP HATING.
IF PEOPLE IS BIGGER THAN THE MAIN VENUE THE ARE FREE TO CHOOSE ARENA.THE CAN TELL THE SUPPORTER TO GO HOME THERE IS SEAT FOR THEM.IT IS NOT EGO OR IMAGE.

Keith   July 4th, 2008 11:16 am ET

I love it when people called "concerned voters" wonder if Obama will be able to solve our problems when he is elected. Are these the same concerned voters that gave us George Bush? I bet they are and their political judgement is suspect at best.

Dave, Houston, TX   July 4th, 2008 11:13 am ET

I believe John McCain is going to accept his nomination at a private fundraiser.

Concerned   July 4th, 2008 11:13 am ET

Senator Obama is loved by many millions of Americans. Although Senator Obama is aprince (He has grace and intellect) of a man, his desire is to serve rather than to be crowned. Don't hate! Appreciate! If you do not wish to see Senator Obama accept the Democratic nomination, turn the channel. Senator Obama is not an egomanic. His confidence comes from his faith in Jesus, not from himself.

Peace!

Happy 4th of July

Pat, CA   July 4th, 2008 11:10 am ET

The only thing big enough for Obama's ego would be accepting the nomination from the Space Station! Since he has no substance, the next best thing is to "pose" in front of as many people as possible to make us "think" he does.

maria   July 4th, 2008 11:09 am ET

way to go obama.all the way to the top where you belong and those negative thoughts are going fo fade sooner or later when americans realize that obama is our hope to become a better america.love you obama.

Monica, Texas   July 4th, 2008 11:08 am ET

If anyone can fill up the stadium Obama can..This is great and will give more the opportunity to see this historic speech….

A Latte Lover, Seattle, WA   July 4th, 2008 11:08 am ET

I know many of you are talking about his ego now, but you would hate him no matter what he did. I for one would love to be there. It will definitely be a Historical moment.

Obamais44

Jeronimo   July 4th, 2008 11:07 am ET

That sounds fantastic. 20,000 seats will not be sufficient for an event of this magnitude.

For those cynics and critics who suggest this has more to do with Baracks ego than his desire to involve as many vested individuals as possible, I say… Ba humm bug. You have no desire to see our nation progress. If you did you would understand that this is how Baracks' philosophy of inclusion and unity is best represented.

The fact that no other presidential candidate (JFK&RFK may have accomplished this had they not been so far ahead of their time) could fill this venue speaks volumes to the intensity of the moment. This is a "SUPER bowl" of humanity and we all win.

One Love and Happy 4th all.

Obama '08

randy   July 4th, 2008 11:07 am ET

I DONT LIKE THIS PEOPLE ON THIS SAYING STUFF ABOUT OBAMA EGO.YOU ALL SHOWED STOP.PEOPLE WANT TO SEE HIM MAKE ACCEPTEANCE SPEECH THE CAN CHOOSE ABIG VENUE OR ARENA.IT HAVE NOTING TO DO WITH HIS EGO.

Boulder Brian   July 4th, 2008 11:07 am ET

This isn't about looking good and his image, even if that is what the article said. It's about getting as many supporters to be present as possible. As someone that lives in Colorado, I would lie, cheat, and steal to go and see that. It would be absolutely amazing! It's not that often that a presidential candidate can fill a 75,000 seat venue, and get the reaction he can. Heck, the Broncos were BOOED a few times there this past season. I say, go Obama. Let as many supporters hear your message as possible. Your presidency is going to make America relevant in a good way around the world.

bryen   July 4th, 2008 11:06 am ET

Pure, utter pandering. He is becoming the ultimate politician. "Look at meeeee!"

akc66   July 4th, 2008 11:05 am ET

TEXAN   July 4th, 2008 11:04 am ET

This is great ! I know that there are alot of people who will want to be part of this event. This stadium will allow them to be there. YES….with Obama, we are on our way to a BETTER America for all !!!!!

Raymond Duke   July 4th, 2008 11:03 am ET

Oh by the way, a great american politician died today, Jesse Helms. You might not have liked him or agreed with the man but you always knew where he stood. No flip- flopping with that man No rhetoric or B.S, with that man.

Texas Trail Dog: Let me apologize for you if you have offended anyone. Raise the bar, it makes one feel so much better.

Greg FL.   July 4th, 2008 10:57 am ET

Texas Trail Dog, you are nothing but a racist bigot. That comment was totally uncalled for.

Raymond Duke   July 4th, 2008 10:57 am ET

I guess one place is as good as the other. At least they will have a big teleprompter ther so he ought to be able to follow the lines that have been written for him and nobody should be able to ask him any questions are disrupt him while he is speaking. I reckon if he will ever attend any town hall meetings with john mccain were he would have to answer some questions that are not planted by his committee and he has studied the answer he wants to give. Well it don't make no difference to me. I won't be listening. I made up my mind with Obama's statements and the democrat leadership. I will be voting for John McCain. Except for messing around on the blog this election is really over with for me.

Karen Beaumont, TX   July 4th, 2008 10:57 am ET

I like Obama but I don't like football.

SMEARS/LIES WON'T WORK IN 2008 MY FRIENDS.   July 4th, 2008 10:57 am ET

Are we counting chickens before they hatch?

Mike, Syracuse, NY   July 4th, 2008 10:52 am ET

Because after all, looking good is more important than actually having positions or being qualified. Obama is all about image with no substance.

Joe, Haandale Beach, FL   July 4th, 2008 10:51 am ET

We the BO Fellows, support this idea, let's keep on writing history for posterity. LET'S GO BO!!!

Concern Voter   July 4th, 2008 10:51 am ET

Are you kidding me…he is a real sports fan something we can all relate too.
People need to start paying to the issues of this campaign. Has Obama said how he is going to solve our energy crisis and our dependence on foreign oil? I don' think so. Has Obama said how is going to fix our economy? Not really..unless you consider raising taxes an answer. How is he going to solve health care? Nope.

So keep on drinking the Kool Aid, because Socialism is not the answer to our problems.

randy   July 4th, 2008 10:51 am ET

i cant wait,i like to watch the democratic conventions it is like academy award of politics to me.barack the vote america.

Kathy in Oregon   July 4th, 2008 10:51 am ET

I's so tired of Obama's EGO.

His entire campaign has been all about his "image" — that's why many voters — like me — say that the guy lacks SUBSTANCE.

Matt   July 4th, 2008 10:50 am ET

I'll never go to another Broncos game again.

Kingslough NY.   July 4th, 2008 10:49 am ET

I think the stadium wont hold his supporters.. He should do it in the grand canyon hehe. GO OBAMA!

American   July 4th, 2008 10:49 am ET

* Sen. John McCain has no public events.

* Sen. Barack Obama takes part in a 4th of July parade in Butte, MT. Afterwards, he speaks at a family picnic.

Where are all the members of PUCKA (PUMA)? Why are they not slamming McWalking Caine for not being patriotic?

OBAMA '08 A true American family man.

Joe Reg   July 4th, 2008 10:45 am ET

A lot of ordinary American wants to be part of history, so, I would say " go for it".

Obama the man of the moment.

Obama 08 & 12.

Chris from Boston   July 4th, 2008 10:45 am ET

With Obama, it is all about the image and speeches. It kind of reminds me of Britney Spears: overly complicated stage productions for an untalented singer.

Does America want a president who is a smart leader or a highly popularized, inadequate person?

Dems   July 4th, 2008 10:44 am ET

Anything to perpetuate Obama's "Messianic Complex". This guy is so full of himself and shame on the Obama-Bots for drinking his kool-aid.

Shame.

slm, Ity   July 4th, 2008 10:42 am ET

If he was white the lead would have been much wider considering the situation the country is in, but as they say long live the United States of Racists(America)….

cherry strawberry   July 4th, 2008 10:40 am ET

He definitely will need more room because my family and I plan to attend. I would think that you haters wouls be happy that the young, the old, and all nationalities have found a president who we can believe in and who is a uniter…but Forget you HATERS!!!!! Your time is FINISHED!!!!!!

BARACK THE VOTE!

JPM   July 4th, 2008 10:39 am ET

Truth is, this is history in the making and we all know it.

The Republicans have ruined this country in the last 8 years and they want 8 more. How much further down the drain will we let them take it?

Its time for change plain and simple.

olivia   July 4th, 2008 10:38 am ET

W-h-a-t-e-v-e-r! big crowds didn't help him in the big states during the primaries. He isn't going to win. Who you trying to fool.

Jim   July 4th, 2008 10:37 am ET

Oh no…they should have the speech in the room with those people responsible for his nomination. You know, those people responsible for this man who took Senator Clinton's policies and platforms and wrapped them in…wrapped them in…oh, yeah, wrapped them in 'change we can believe in'…he's changing now, isn't he?

WRITE IN HILLARY CLINTON FOR PRESIDENT ON NOVEMBER 4

Alice   July 4th, 2008 10:34 am ET

it IS historic and why not have "the people" there as well as the political delegates?

I think it says alot.

justin   July 4th, 2008 10:34 am ET

It's a shame that Disappointed Dem's supersize ego can't understand the magnitude of this unique moment in American history. Maybe he/she should read a history book.

ANGIE   July 4th, 2008 10:31 am ET

i say go for it look at the people at the obama rallys they are gonna need more room

Enough Already!   July 4th, 2008 10:30 am ET

"A bigger crowd could make for a more compelling picture and image."

Hmmm! So now it's become all about image with Obama? I've yet to see substance with either him or McCain. Hasn't this country had enough with bipartisan politics? It's time for a 3rd party to step up to the plate and lead this country out of the pit it entered 8 years ago. There are more positions out there than just Republican or Democrat.

CNN, have the courage to post this comment, Obama isn't looking.

Farrell, Houston, Tx   July 4th, 2008 10:30 am ET

I don't thing there is a stadium big enough to for Obama supporters because we've already seen the numbers on the campaign trail. Yes it is a historic event that we can all be proud of which sends a message around the globe, we are all Americans and united we stand.

Dems be losers   July 4th, 2008 10:27 am ET

Will they bring in a throne and jeweled crown?

Enlightened Voter   July 4th, 2008 10:26 am ET

I am all for it and it reinforces the fact that Obama is much more a regular guy than his counterpart. He is a real sports fan, something we can all relate to.

Vote4Obama   July 4th, 2008 10:25 am ET

Lets do it dems!!

From Hillary to Obama   July 4th, 2008 10:24 am ET

Hillary should speak too. Great Idea. The Republicans couldn't match this.

Disappointed Dem   July 4th, 2008 10:22 am ET

NFL football stadium – I don't know, it may not be big enough to fit his ego in.

It's all about image and stardom, worshipers and followers.

This has become such a disappointing and frightening campain. What has happened to the democratic party?

Myron   July 4th, 2008 10:21 am ET

They should go for it. Many people will want to be part of this historic moment in American history.
