Obama may accept nomination at NFL stadium

Obama may accept the party's nomination at Invesco Field.

Obama may accept the party's nomination at Invesco Field.

(CNN) - Call it location, location, location.

Barack Obama's campaign is thinking of having the Democratic presidential candidate give his presidential nomination acceptance speech at a football stadium rather than in the arena in Denver, Colorado, where the Democratic National Convention is being held.

CNN has confirmed that discussions are underway between the campaign and Denver's convention organizing committee to move the senator from Illinois' acceptance speech from the Pepsi Center, a basketball and hockey arena which seats around 20,000 people, to Invesco Field at Mile High. The football stadium where the Denver Broncos play can seat around 75,000 people.

A bigger crowd could make for a more compelling picture and image.

One problem could be the weather. The stadium is open aired, and susceptible to afternoon and evening summer thunderstorms, while the arena is closed to the elements.

The story was first reported in the Los Angeles Times and by the Associated Press.

Obama campaign spokeswoman Shannon Gilson told the AP that no decisions have been made.

The Democrats' presidential nominating convention is scheduled to open on Monday August 25 and close with Obama's acceptance speech on Thursday, August 28.

ANNOYED: NO.................MC CAIN PROVED WITHOUT A DOUBT HIS PATRITISM TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA BY PUTTING HIS LIFE ON THE LINE FOR HIS COUNTRY (and he almost did die). He has served in the U.S. Senate for over 25 years with dignity and duty.

Obama wrote two books and made enough money for he and his wife to place one million dollars in a fund which is TAX FREE. If he likes taxes so much, why not put this money where it can be taxed? He is not a patriot, just read his first book.

This election is not about the color of your skin. Most of Obama's supporters are white but he has about 97% of the black people. Now that is racist. You call us McCain supporters racist; look in the mirror.

OK OK OK... Alot of hating has been going on about Barack Obama. Now people say he bought his way to be the nominee... Come on now be real, the vote Results were LIVE on t.v. This man followed the RULES that were set forth and agreed on. If you think anything else then you have no reason in politics.

Now there is a racist issue... the black national anthem? The strange thing about this is, This man is 50% WHITE and 50% BLACK. He is a mixed american, that goes to prove racist by the media and it fuels the fire for other non-diverse persons because they dont even acknowldge the fact that he has both of our cultures all in one.

This man has an advantage because he has seen both sides, black and white hatred. If you dont like him tough. He will be our next president. Either get over it or relocate, AMERICA WILL CHANGE AT THE HANDS OF SENATOR B.O.

That is not a good idea. He will piss a lot of people off. Denver went out of the way to shut down the pepsi center this summer for renovations for his "big speech" and spent thousands of dollars on it (some of which is tax payer money) so stick with the plan.

  8. Obama or bust

The thing that OB talks about the most that I love is "WE THE PEOPLE" So he should give his speach in a large arena so WE THE PEOPLE can attend, instead of the powerful few. This is another example of how He tries to include ALL of us. It would be easy for him to have a small event with the rich and powerful, Like I'm sure McShame will do. It's great that he wants to include US.

For those who say he has no substance you need to STOP listening to the sound bites, and speaches and do some research. He has clearly laid out his plan for america.

FYI he has NOT changed his view in Iraq. STOP LISTENING TO SOUND BITES!!!! 1st change the mission in Iraq, Start bringing the troups home, The goal is to do it within 16months, BUT he will take into consideration the conditions on the ground. That may mean going at a slower pace, it may mean going faster. No one can predict what will happen so he's keeping his options open. Unlike Bush he stayed the course no matter what.

  13. Dems are Naive

This will be a really close race. And Dems are the underdogs here. The dem hick south will probably vote for McCain since there is no way they'll vote for a black candidate with a funny name. Some Hillary supporters will vote for McCain too. This is ironic because if they're talking about political ideals, their basic stances are the same. But it doesn't matter what the candidates' positions are. Look how they made a big deal over a stupid pin. Seriously people, a pin. What moron gets swayed by whether or not a candidate wears a stupid pin? (Answer: Sadly, 85% of the public). And Mike from Syracuse, what positions are you talking about? Do you even know? I highly doubt it. You'll vote with your gut reaction like most people in Nov. which is largely based on aesthetics anyway. That's why you're right. Looking good IS more important and being repetitive in public speeches is key so each candidate can recruit people who rely on TV and others to do the thinking for them.

  16. NO way!

Why not accept his nomination from a space shuttle? His ego is far too big to fit our lowly planet Earth.

Seriously folks, what a fool! Let's not forget he's just the *presumptive* nominee. What divine justice it would be for Senator Clinton to clinch the nomination when all the delegates and superdelegates come ot their senses and run screaming away from the malignant narcissist that is Obama.

This is complete insanity. let the history books one day proclaim this as Obama's 15 minutes of fame.

Now let me get back to my guffaws of laughter.....hahahaha!

Tucker....you really need to educate yourself. If you didn't have the opportunity to go to school, you can still self educate. Its never too late. Start reading and learning and one day MAYBE you will be making intelligent comments if you work really hard at it.

LOL. Really. Did you know that Texas reserved the right to break into 5 states when we joined the Union, and that still stands. You can't sell anything. Since we have the world's 15th largest economy and 3 of the top 10 cities in the nation in population, we might just do that, and freeze all you Yankees. Yep, sounds like a good idea to me.

He might not make it to an acceptance speech, not with all his 'changing' on core Democratic issues – Women's Right to Choose, handgun control, death penalty, wiretapping – and with his inability to hold strong position on Iraq. Remember, he's just the 'presumptive' nominee....the convention is a process yet to unfold.
