McCain campaign gets new political director

Mike DuHaime ran Giuliani's presidential campaign.
Mike DuHaime ran Giuliani's presidential campaign.

(CNN) – In one of his first moves to centralize control of McCain's political organization, Steve Schmidt has tapped Rudy Giuliani's former campaign manager, Mike DuHaime, to be McCain's new political director, a top campaign adviser tells CNN.

Until last week, McCain had no political director at headquarters - highly unusual for a general election campaign. Mccain's campaign instead relied on 11 regional campaign managers - a structure many Republicans in and outside of the McCain campaign, including Schmidt, considered unworkable.

After formally taking control of the political operation last week, Schmidt decided to put a political director in place to oversee the state and regional operations.

Duhaime went to work as an adviser to McCain at headquarters not long after Giuliani dropped his primary bid.

  7. Hate to break it to you

Further proof that he's not ready. At least have your campaign in some working order. Makes it appear bad against Obama who seems to have his campaign in top shape. Get with it McCain if your planning on being President, which I doubt.

Is this indicative of the haphazard way he would set up his White House team were he to enjoy a miracle and actually win?

He has had more campaign shake ups than Hillary which is saying alot. This man can't even manage his own campaign and he wants to run our country?

  15. Judgement over Experience

So much for that old experience theory, mcwar can't even run his campaign, no way would I trust him to run my country. Obama has run a brilliant campaign and managed it expertly.

    Ah! Flip-flop!

Although, I do wonder whether these guys are selected on their ability to defend their positions, or if they are selected based on their ability to claim their opponent is "flip-flopping," in any vaguely correct sense of the term.

Of course, with this media, i suppose these are the same attributes...

"I will oppose any tax breaks or good deals for the gas and oil industry also."

–John McCain at a town hall meeting in Rindge, NH, 11/18/07

So where's that Straight Talk Express now? Now he says he will give the oil companies a $4 billion tax break.

Just a small example of what you get with John McCon.

Okay, this is the guy we want at the controls for our country? He had four months jump start to get his campaign together, and he's just doing this? This guy can't even run a campaign? How anyone can call Obama Nobama baffles me. At least he has a structured campaign, whether you agree with him or not.

you mean to say that John McCain had 3 months on Barack Obama and he still could not get it right? i guess thats why McCain finished 894th out of 899 at the Naval Academy, his bad judgment is probably a contributing factor to the 6 planes McCain crashed. i wonder if John has enough sense to throw his "Hispanic Outreach Director" Juan Hernandez under the bus like he is doing so many of the others who worked so hard to get him where he is, i mean Hernandaz proclaimed in his book: "the illegal alien invaders he urges to become settlers in the USA. Hernandez believes all Mexicans and Mexican-Americans in the USA should become dual citizens and consider themselves Mexicans first, "to the 8th generation." He believes there should be no border at all between Mexico and the USA, ever. "
perhaps McCain can hire Vicki L. Iseman, she has had a great "working relationship with him in the past.
or perhaps he can ask Feingold to help him again since: "His McCain-Feingold bill has destroyed much of the rights of people to take part in the political process the way they see fit. This bill remains unConstitutional and a major affront to the First Amendment protections on the right of free speech."
when will people get the fact that John McCain is a puppet, a tool used by Big Oil and special interest groups?
WHAT ELSE DOES JOHN HAVE TO HIDE?
