Obama named his congressional liaison team Monday.

(CNN) — Barack Obama's campaign announced the members of its congressional liaison team Monday, a group that will serve as the primary contact between Democratic members of congress and the campaign.

The four-member team includes Phil Schiliro, Rep. Henry Waxman's long-time chief of staff and the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee's top Democratic staff person who will become a senior adviser to the campaign, and Mike Strautmanis, a political adviser in Obama’s Senate office who will join the team as senior counsel. Karen Richardson, the deputy to the policy director in Obama's Senate office, will serve as the policy director at the Democratic National Committee; and Michael Robertson, deputy to the chief counsel in Obama’s Senate office, will act as director of congressional affairs.

Just out of curiosity, Obama is a United States Congressman, so why would he have to employ 4 staffers to talk with Congressman he should be able to pick up the phone and talk too? This has never been done in the history of Presidential elections and is the most moronic thing I have ever heard. On a second note the Messiah of "Change" and "Unity" did remark that he would talk with "Democratic" Congressman right? Where is all that "Unity" we have been hearing about.

KE   July 7th, 2008 7:44 pm ET

It’s interesting to see how some of the supporters of Sen. Obama who are senators and professors speak of their candidate with great confident. They sound like they’ve known him personally for a very long time. Yet those who really should know Sen. Obama (for a very long time) they are not able to speak about him publicly.

The senators who support Barack Obama know their candidate for two years or so. Sen. Obama's experience and not being tested in the political world is no issues to them. He flip-flops. He makes bad explanations or no explanations about himself. He quite often makes promises which he cannot keep. He is untested. He is unknown.

Voter intimidation and suppression, the DNC really did it this time (not in some other continent).

Whether Barack Obama is going to be selected (not elected) at the Denver convention or Sen. Clinton elected, there will be a lasting effect on the Democratic Party and that should be a good thing.

Obama has run a good campaign thus far, surrounding himself with a high quality team of advisors and people that can get the job done. This bodes well for how he would govern if elected. What a welcome change from the Bush/Republican leadership (or lack there of).
