Watch Obama comment on his plane troubles.

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI (CNN) - Barack Obama's plane made an unscheduled landing in St. Louis Monday after the pilot reported technical problems. The plane landed safely.

Obama told reporters after landing it was the first time he had had to land because of mechanical problems.

"Just thought we'd spice things up a little bit today," he joked, adding: "Anytime a pilot says that something's not working the way its supposed to, then you know, you make sure you tighten your seat belt. Everything seemed under control, the pilots knew what they were doing."

Funny the polls show Obama just 3 to 6 points ahead of McCain. That is really not that great for Obama, is it!

Matt, Minneapolis, MN   July 7th, 2008 4:17 pm ET

Senator Obama safely decended the stairs today. One of them creaked, an investigation showed that a nail was not pounded down all the way. We can all breat a sigh of relief again.

If he gets in a car accident, or makes some groundbreaking proposal thats news. Not that he landed safely or that he changed venues for his speach. Lets cover real news CNN like the Riots in Mongolia.

Ms. D   July 7th, 2008 4:13 pm ET

Obama don't have a ego problem, he is very confident, smart and intelligent and happen to be black! most racist whites can't handle that!! What are you racist's scared of? Karma? or Obama turning into flavor flav? LOL. Bush is the one who was arrogant, big ego and stubborn!!

Phil Proud Republican from MA   July 7th, 2008 4:13 pm ET

Too bad the plane didn't crash. The world would be much better off with out him and his unpatriotic wife. They are both frauds and cowards and trash

ladyhjk   July 7th, 2008 4:10 pm ET

Thank you Lord for keeping your strong arms of protection around Barack Obama, his family and staff. Prayer is very powerful and just think of the power in God's hands right now. Every confessed believer pray for our country and the leader that God has for us. Bless you, Mr. Obama.....keep the faith!!!! Oh yes, thank you God for the pilot being at the right place at the right time!

Peter E   July 7th, 2008 4:10 pm ET

Some years ago I flew on a plane that couldn't extend its flaps for landing, leading to a serious risk of stall and crash. We were diverted and we too were greeted with fire trucks for safety's sake.
That never made the news!
'Ooo, but it's Obama! He's the victim of a world conspiracy against him! It's so much more brave of him to survive such an incident!'

Obama/Hillary 08   July 7th, 2008 4:09 pm ET

G8 world power # 1 with a struggling economy because of our republicans friends. We need to vote change to change this mess with our economy. Vote democratic this November if you want to leave the American dream which is have a job, be able to pay for education, and have a home to live in.

What if?   July 7th, 2008 4:09 pm ET

To my fellow bloggers, HATERS supporters of Obama, McCain, Bush and the Clintons, we are all to blame for the contributing to acting and being prejudice, hateful and mean on these comments. Please stop the finger pointing to others, and admit to your own wrong doing Just felt the need to tell the truth about all and not just set of candidates voters……

Be careful what you hope or wish for someone else, it may be your own fait…

Peter E   July 7th, 2008 4:07 pm ET

Why is this making news? Dozens of commercial planes are diverted every week because of technical problems. Why is Obama hogging the news again? Why does he think his incident is anything special?

Peter E   July 7th, 2008 4:05 pm ET

Let the conspiracy-fest begin! 'Ooo, look how brave Obama is flying a plane rigged against him by the racist world conspiracy.'

Monica for Obama in Indiana   July 7th, 2008 4:04 pm ET

Glad Senator Obama and everyone on the plane was safe.
God always make away, for those who are interested go to Obama's website, they sent out emails for a lottery to attend DNC in Colorado.

Seems that Obama's security is going to have to check out planes from now on.

God bless the pilot, God bless our future President and God Bless America!

We need prayer everyone, so please pray

PUMA Sabotage   July 7th, 2008 3:59 pm ET

PUMA must responsible/ All that channelled hatred and bitterness must have made it to the plane.

Obama supporters are mild in comparison to the nasty and hateful, PUMA posters. They are the new low. Read their site sometime, they ara all about hate and division. They should be exterminated like the vermin they are.
They could make Rush Limpbough cringe.

Martha Hussein Baker for Barack   July 7th, 2008 3:59 pm ET

Be safe Mr. President and may God bless you and your family.

You will fill up the Denver football stadium in a heartbeat.

Go Denver! Try and beat our record here in Portland, Oregon, BTW I was at the rally at Waterfront Park and all 75.000 of us were there to see our future president, not the band that played before his speech, It was all about the man, so don't be fooled by the haters who claim it was a "rock concert" . The line was 22 city blocks long and the wait was 5 hours, and I would gladly do it again.

GO OBAMA '08

YES WE CAN!

This is news? I'm sorry, but Obama has many issues he should be addressing if he expects voters to take him seriously.

There were no rockets, no birds that hit the plane . But think about it., three planes today. One hit by a bird and dented in the front another plane almost hit my a rocket and now this, We have got to have our planes repaired in this country not somewhere else.

Why is it that in todays speech from Senator Obama all we heard was what McCains economic plan was? While I may not fully embrace McCain, at least he has a plan.

Rise America Rise   July 7th, 2008 3:47 pm ET

I can hear McCain now ... "First he said he was going to Charlotte, then he said he was going to St. Louis ... first he said he was going to wear his seatbelt loose, then he said he tightened it". Ummm, Johnny???? Sometimes new information causes a person to use JUDGEMENT to change their position .. but you wouldn't understand that, your twin has not used judgement his entire candidacy,,, and look where it has gotten us.

Gene   July 7th, 2008 3:46 pm ET

Yep.. a plane had to land for maintenance purposes. This gives PUMAs and others a perfect reason to attack.

I would say that the point of a blog is to comment on the story, but there is no story here.

You PUMAS and haters... just stop whining and vote for McCain, write in Hillary, or stay home. How long can you possibly keep complaining about the same thing over, and over, and over, and over. Just shut up until November. You people have no lives.

1paperclip   July 7th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

Yes I know I should vote the republicans out of office because they got us where we are now. But, I do like the fact that it is the republicans who don't like ear marks. Ear marks add dollars to any bill for unrelated projects. Could it be that the Democrates actually made the spending by the government worse by tacking on these ear marks to every other unrelated bill. Did the Democrates exacerbate the problems of the government overspending realising all the time that an election year was coming up and they wanted the Republicans economic policies to look bad due to over spending? It is too bad that we feel we must have a two party system because now both sides are willing to hurt the country economically as long as it has some benefit to their little party. This the United States of America any more. It is the divided partys of America.

CLINTON 08 VP   July 7th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

CW4BARACK (and others of your ilk). All you have, at the end of the day, are ad hominem attacks, silly puns, and invective. The only thing Republicans like me wish about Obama is that he wasn't a liberal. You really should crawl back into you tiny intellectual cave and resume looking at the shadows on the wall.

John   July 7th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

As a devout conservative Christian from South Carolina, I do not wish to hear anything else from Senator McCain until he apologizes to Pastor Haggee for calling a part of his teaching "crazy." Otherwise, he has lost my vote and I invite other true Chrisrtians to take a stand and join me. As I perceive it, there are few insults that are more offensive to our Lord's Church than what Senator McCain said.

After some of the "sick and racist" comments posted here. Obama had better be careful. The evil doers are getting scared that he may get elected and thats when they become desparate and resort to insane acts, against anyone that stands for truth. I hope God will protect him and his family.

Joe M for HIllary   July 7th, 2008 3:24 pm ET

Well, it looks like Senator Obama got a taste of what the rest of us have to endure every time we fly. No mechanical problems aren't as common as TSA screenings, nickeled and dimed to death for everything from checking baggage to food. The present state of the airline industry in this country, save Southwest, was lack of planning, poor management, egos and a lot more.

If British Airways wants to buy American and turn it into a real airline, let them do it. As for Senator Obama, remember that train trip he took in PA. Well, there's nothing like a whistle stop campaign in a lot of big state like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida and more. Sure he can afford to charter that car he had in PA again.

Join my boycott. Stay home, travel by car or train, but don't give those airline bums another cent. I won't ever start on the "Department of Homeland Stupidity" making 90 year old ladies take off their shoes. Is this a great country or what?

Susan from Scotts Valley, CA   July 7th, 2008 3:23 pm ET

It just amazes me how some people are so willing to compare an inspired electorate with Nazi Germany or robots or worshipers of some Messiah or followers of some king. We're inspired. We have hope. I think that's a good thing. For the first time in a long time, millions of Americans have hope. And yet we are being denigrated for it. It would be better for us to feel hopeless and vote for McCain, I guess, and keep things as screwed up (or worse) as they are now.

I'll take hope any day.

As far as what "Texas Trail Dog" wants...Hillary as VP...I know I would not be voting for him as well as most of my family and friends. While you claim he would get 20% more votes, you have to count on those of us who would vote for HRC only when hell froze over and that would still be a difficult thing to do.

How about discussing how the candidates plan to rebuild the American infastructure? What about our levies, bridges, Social Security, Educational system, housing crisis?

I want to see more about how different Obama is from McSame and its about time that more Americans become aware of these differences as well!

It's so sad to hear so many sick fools talk about bad things happen to people. An God child at that. You shouldn't wish bad things on anyone because at the end that same person that you wish bad on will be the one you need at the end.
See one day when something bad happen to you and you are looking crazy saying to yourself why me. You don't need to think hard about it. Because when it an child of God, he will put it back on you 10 times as worst then you wish for. Oh yah it will come back on you, you can bet on that.
But one thing I must say is that the Lord will watch over his children at all times. See faith is a powerful word and a good word when in time of need. This is a good sign. The Lord is always working.

The pilot and the crew ought to thanked and thanked a hundredfold for taking the proper action regardless who was on the aircraft. Thank GOD that everything was alright, everone safe. Once again the anti-Hillarites will cry out injustice, blaming poor Mrs. Clinton for perhaps secretly draining away gas from Obama's plane. You really have to wonder if some of these politically paranoid supporters of our beloved Barack haven't got something better to do than blame the world for everything that happenes to Senator. and Mrs. Obama. Obama has a plane? Why did everyone get upset when McCain replaced his bus with a plane?

TangoDancer   July 7th, 2008 2:08 pm ET

Wow – that's serious political news. Instead of a collective sigh of relief that nobody was hurt, all of these right-wing loosers can berate Obama and Obama supporters can reciprocate with comments such as "thank god he's ok", etc... Is this really ticker material? My primary concern is that I hope everyone managed to get their carry-on luggage off of the plane without further incident.

Obamaallthewaytodc   July 7th, 2008 2:08 pm ET

We are continually praying for Obama. We are praying for the American people. We are asking God to hold Obama and his family in safety. Wish the best blessings for everyone on this site as well. Let go of the bitterness. Lets just love and get on with this change thing. R you not ready? And I did like the comment about our President to be getting ready for the AIR FORCE ONE. If Hillary is meant to be – it will be. We got some bright Democrats who got it going on. Lets do this. God bless all the families. Saw you in Ohio Obama!!!!!

Obama remained in his seat?

What does that say about this man? He is able to size up a situation by getting the facts, and is not afraid to follow his intellect afterwards.

MAYBE it just means the pilot said "Please remain in your seats". No, clearly that can't be it. It must be a sign of Obama's superior something or other.

Andy J, NY   July 7th, 2008 2:06 pm ET

There are people who realize this is garbage and not news...

And then there are the people who are idiots and respond to this, as if it were a real news article.

How many times did BO go to the bathroom today?

What did BO have for breakfast?

BO stinks. This guy is worse than the BO in that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry has to sell his car, due to the repulsive BO smell. BO stinks-always has, always will.

Is anyone at all investigating the allegations that a majority of Obama's financial support online is coming from a few credit card accounts in the Middle East such as Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and China?! Has the whole country gone stark-raving mad and made Obama king and god?!

____________________________________________________

Has anyone at all investigated the FACT that most of John Mccains team are BIG oil lobbyist including Mr. Gee McCain would do GREAT if there is an attack on US soil Black, or why McCain is soooo afraid to release his Military record, what does he have to hide, or Hispanic Outreach Director." Juan Hernandez believes there should be no border at all between Mexico and the USA, ever, or McCains involvement in the 1967 tragedy, USS Forrestal...Google it, or the "McCain Bill" that made it almost impossible to get our POWs home?

Thank God Barack and his staff are okay.

There is no way the people with the nasty comments can be Christians. Maybe we need a little reminder. Matt 12:36 & 37: “But I say to you that foe every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned. “

He Did The Right Thing   July 7th, 2008 1:54 pm ET

Of course he stayed in his seat. Isn't that what the pilot tells you to do during an emergency landing? Even the flight attendants SIT DOWN. Give Barack a break people. These comments are just crazy.

He's not on Airforce One yet, but he will be.

Amen

I did the first posting on this story when CNN first put it up. Yet, nowhere is it to be found. Not one offensive comment or word in it. Just questioning why CNN shuts down postings after 53 comments on one story, yet others to run up into the 300s. Hmmm? Curious. Isn't it?

Mauri   July 7th, 2008 1:46 pm ET

I was prepared to blog and say "Thank God the plane landed safely." Then I read where someone said "The Clinton's are behind this." So I changed my prayer to "God bless the ignorant."

Esther   July 7th, 2008 1:36 pm ET

I smell something goofy! Are they sure its technical difficulties with the plane or the McSame team/anti-Obamas has finally injected a worm into the apple by using the pilots or whoever is in charge to get to Obama and delay/frustrate him? I usually try to stay positive but cannot shake this off my mind? I think this should not happen! A clearer explanation should be given as to why they did not make a smooth ride happen for President-to-be Obama!

First, to you nitwits that question if this is news. When you are a presidential candidate, and have press corps traveling with you everywhere you go. EVERYTHING IS NEWS!!!! If they left things out while reporting, you guys would be complaining about that also.

Second, to thouse who think the move to Denver Stadium was about ego. That is not entirely Obama decision. I would imagine that their is a overwhelming amount of request to witness the event so the venue was changed. This happens with many events (concerts add more dates because of demand) this is only a one-time event and the desire to accomodate is critical.

I'm glad some of these bloggers are not running for any kind of office.

Gertrude   July 7th, 2008 1:22 pm ET

You think with all the money they have they would invest in a crew to preform routine maintenance checks, oh well. glad no one was hurt, otherwise everyone would say it was the Clinton and Bush families plotting against Obama.

Hillary and Barack are now riding the same plane, in spirit. Enough with the Hillary jokes. But all readers should know that these spiteful e-mails ridiculing Hillary are coming from bitter Republicans (who cling to hatred, vitriol, rumor-mongering, and all other nasty approaches to politics). It's time for CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN. God knows we need change after 8 years of Bush. And McCain is simply McSame. No change there. At least not POSITIVE change.

Sorry all you GOPers, your time is nearing its end. You've done enough damage. Please leave your pettiness for your own national convention, where you can all cry over your impending defeat. Oh, and that Swift Boating thing you did against genuine war hero John Kerry... it won't work this time. Everyone's wise to such phoniness.

McCain is the only candidate that can begin to restore order to this great nation of ours.

Hope they change it again and u suckers work til you are 90. Obama is not the answer or the prejeduce clintons. Hope u can vote 2 times. Heard any of them on immigration issues. Hell no, what about social security. Lets sell this country to France or Russia. I'm sick of paying for democrats partying, lies, and letting other countries screw us. I appreciate CNN for letting us know when Obama gives a high five, ties his shoes, is thinking about speaking somehwere, blaming the media for his own mistakes, makes fun of Republicans, gets on a plane, eats, and sleeps.

McCain should be thankful they spell his name right.

Mike, Syracuse, NY   July 7th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

Empty suit, empty promises   July 7th, 2008 12:53 pm ET

He probably just changed his mind during the trip. Keith Olbermann and his other acolytes call it him "refining his positions", EVERYONE ELSE it would be called what they are, LIES. Changine ones mind over a period of years is ok, but from the primary to the general is the Obama way and he with the media swooning over him, gets away with it. Hillary was so right about this loser.

Ellie in Aurora, CO   July 7th, 2008 12:53 pm ET

OK – for the stupid voter from Omaha – No one has to investigate where Obama's campaign financing comes from. It's the law that all contributions have to be public. If you could stop with the rumor mongering, and go do your research, you would find that the majority of money comes from small contributors like me. Please get edu-macated before vote, for God's sake!!!

Shannnon Sommeling   July 7th, 2008 12:51 pm ET

Obama gives hope to the future and distances our view of the course of our nation from the past worn-out policies of the present. The security of the world rest in the visions of it's youth. Forced democracy or any policy is in itself defeating. People respond to common natural human rights and rise-up together for the challenge. American imperialism is not only self rightous but self serving. McCain's view of America is corporate dominated with world exploitaton of their resources and cultures. I'm not saying that America should be isolated but we should ingage in the bettering of the human condition and the restoration of our planet. Obama has this vision, McCain only sees the possibilities of a failed national and world policy for the elite few. And that does not include the average American or world citizen.

He is a warrior and I trust him to protect my values. It seems that the only values that obama has is who he wants to impress that day.

He is the candidate of change. He changes his positions as the wind blows. How can anyone trust him?

There is a reason why there will be two different sites, a convention site and nomination-Speech site. Every one is invited but I have this feeling that tickets for this nomination-Speech site will be exhausted on barackobama.com for fans alike from any camp. So anyhow you all will have to visit the Obama family even when you still feel a little sore or not to get your tickets. Oh! did I remind you necons and pumas that you should keep the peace in our website while you transact your business and peacefully go your way.

It's our time, it's our moment and our moment is NOW!

Is anyone at all investigating the allegations that a majority of Obama's financial support online is coming from a few credit card accounts in the Middle East such as Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and China?! Has the whole country gone stark-raving mad and made Obama king and god?!

Now to become king, he wants a stadium so he can make a statement... he made one for me... 143 days as a senator and he is qualified for the presidency?! Give me a break!! The democrats have gone FANATICAL!!! And I am a DEMOCRAT!! NOT ANY MORE!!!!

I also think our 'press' is a joke–full of panderers, liars, people who 'create the news' rather than report it, and suppress anything that doesn't go 'their' way.' What a bunch of ya-hoos!

OBAMA (2008 -16)

MysticTerminator   July 7th, 2008 12:14 pm ET

Really? Not one of the McCain junkies has yet made a comment along the lines of "OF COURSE OBAMA'S PLANE HAD TO DIVERT BECAUSE OF HIS HUMONGOUS EGO" ? Guess some things are a stretch even for y'all, huh?

Dawn   July 7th, 2008 12:14 pm ET

Its ts amazing how Obama always has plane issues. Can this man get one of the gazillion advisers to loan him a proper aircraft, Say one of the multi bilionaires can let him borrow a Gulf stream or even a JET BLUE plane. He looks like he has a southwest airplane.
Give me a break. Are these people that clueless? Should safety be first? An MD 80? what a joke...

Ben   July 7th, 2008 12:14 pm ET

Well, at least everyone's ok.

Independent Voter   July 7th, 2008 12:13 pm ET

Say, I have an idea. When BO is crowned in the football stadium we could have gigantic American flags everywhere- I mean huge flags. The military could all wear uniforms and march in 20 or 30 abreast. We could bring in some heavy military equipment, say tanks.

Then all the 75,000 people could salute the flag and yell out Hale Obama! Then he could begin speaking and his voice would echo everywhere for miles around...

America, if this doesn't worry you, you aren't paying attention!

Rick   July 7th, 2008 12:12 pm ET

let's see....some of you boneheaded dems will start calling this an evil republican plot in: 3.........2.........1...............

Minorities’ and women should never hold a position of authority over a white man, these are not just my beliefs but the principles this nation was founded on. This is the way God intended it to be, that is why this is in the fix that it is now in.

McCain is the only candidate that can begin to restore order to this great nation of ours.

Hey backwoods retard, Obama's half WHITE too; kinda knocks your redneck comment out of alignment now doesn't it; see if your inbred brain can extrapolate what I just said and determine if you can come up with a new racist, sexist rant, REPUGNICAN SCUMBAG.

Obama2008/2012   July 7th, 2008 12:09 pm ET

Cnn you closed the Stadium speech comments early .
Why isn't the Convention at the Stadium let the people be able to attend this instead of a choice few .
DNC its time to move for more seating Obama can pack them in he is our next President and you have never before witnessed such a great movement behind him all the way to the White house.
McBush you can return to Arizona you are not goin anywhere unless its back to Arizona and they don't want you there either.

CD   July 7th, 2008 12:07 pm ET

Hey Obama,

You better be careful man and go get yourself a new jet! Don't ever ride in that thing again. Don't do it! Just tell us to donate and we'll do the rest. Isn't that our MO? We are the greatest lobbying force ever in America and that is why we deserve to witness the nomination so kudos for the larger venue. We want to be represented in all facets of the political process and the governing. That is why we bought this campaign with one voice and with our hard-earned money even when we can't afford it. And who are these dreamers that think we will pay for them to come to our convention to protest an election that was based on previous processes should WAKE UP.

They "Clintonians" will have their due allocation of slots at the DNC Party site convention but as per our nomination speech at the stadium, You must really be a loser and a dreamer to think we will pay for you and not allow other supporters of Obama to see him.

K   July 7th, 2008 12:07 pm ET

Oh boy! What did he do while he remained his seat? Read a book, talk, play cards, look in the mirror at himself? Did he eat before, during or after the plane trip? Did he sneak a smoke or is he still pretending to have quite? What was he wearing? Was he wearing a tie? How about a lapel pin? Did he go to the bathroom at all? Did he "fist-bump" anyone? Please, please, please, I have to know about every minute of your hero's day!

Well, every minute of every day except when he talks about his policies...crickets....

Belle   July 7th, 2008 12:07 pm ET

Glad his plane got down safely....

However, what will happen if the US and Iraq come to an agreement to withdraw forces? Right now that is where Iraq is leaning...a timetable for withdrawal.

So that leaves the unspoken war....Obama can tout ending the war in Iraq all he wants, but there is still the war in Afghanistan, that the US is currently losing.

How will Obama explain away his neglect of his Senate subcommittee....you know, the one that oversees the war in Afghanistan....you know, the one he chose NOT to hold one meeting on in now over 2 years. Change is making a difference....hope is taking action to make change....Senator Obama did neither. Are you so wrapped up in his speeches that you don't see he is doing nothing? He is very reminiscent of George W. Bush.

Bulldog   July 7th, 2008 12:05 pm ET

No Drama Obama who didn't get out of his seat after the plane landed. Calm and cool unlike the hot tempered McCain who looks like he is going to explode all too often. McCain needs some meds to calm himself down, he has some emotional issues.

"Obama apparently remained in his seat when the plane landed." WHAT? Of course he stayed in his seat, what has he supposed to do? Fly the god-forsaken plane himself? This isn't Airport '76 guys, but thank you for the reporting none-the-less. Good to know Senator Obama, like anyone else who's ever flown, is smart enough to stay in his seat when landing as opposed to riding on the wing.

Sharon   July 7th, 2008 12:04 pm ET

I wonder who did he pray to for a safe landing.

Dwayne - L, OH   July 7th, 2008 12:03 pm ET

Imagine that! He needs a coach and one heck of a contracted security team. I wouldn't trust the Secret Service if I were him as far as I could throw them.

Turnabout is Fair Play   July 7th, 2008 12:03 pm ET

HOOKAY, here we go, watch for the "I wish it had crashed, or been shot down" idiots to start up in here any minute now. Well, he's safe and sound and will STILL go on to be our next president, WOOHOO!!
Just make sure you have your own men and Secret Service handpicked so that sabotage cannot happen if possible.

Donkey Party   July 7th, 2008 12:02 pm ET

I bet Hillary and her disgruntled, delusional, sore-loser supporters peed themselves when they first heard the news. Just the big break she's waiting for, but too bad, Obama landed safely, sorry to get your hopes up Mrs. Suspended campaign.

Gary, PA   July 7th, 2008 12:01 pm ET

There are so many Obama haters online. I say good for Obama that he is moving his venue to the stadium. At first we complained that there weren't a lot of people involved in politics. Now we have so many we can fill a stadium and people are still complaining because it's not there candidate. Give me a break.

Kudos to Obama for capturing the country's attention and imagination for bigger and better things.

Obama 08

NotFallingInLine.org   July 7th, 2008 11:57 am ET

I suppose the fact that Obama was on his way to North Carolina is more of a story than the fact that his plane had a technical problem between chicago and Charlotte.
Obama must know he's in serious trouble if he's looking to pick up the electoral votes of North Carolina – as well as Virginia and Georgia – in November.
He knows that he's most likely going to lose Pennsylvania and Ohio, that he has no chance at all of winning in West Virginia or Kentucky, and that he's not looking too good in Michigan or Florida, either.
The media can cite all the popular opinion polls that they like. Fact is, Obama's chances of winning the electoral votes he needs in November are not good at all. And nor should they be, seeing how he chose to collect delegates at the caucuses rather than build a coalition within the core constituencies of the Democratic base during the nomination process.
He's a weasel who has no chance of convincing the American people to support him with flowery rhetoric and empty slogans the way he convinced the fanatical left of the Democratic Party's constituents.
Come to think of it, now that he's moving to the center even his strongest fanatical followers will start to see him for the self-centered opportunist that he has always been.

Sounds like Obama's plane landed with help from the "wings of an angel". Obama is simply the best.

Roberta, NC   July 7th, 2008 11:48 am ET

Since the posts to the article on the "stadium event" were closed after half an hour!...I just wanted to say...a nice CHANGE that Barack Hussein Obama could pull off at the convention is this. How about a DEMOCRATIC Democratic convention. The big "Unity Love-Fest" would ring a little less hollow if 1/2 of the voters were represented. How about actually putting Hillary Clinton's name into nomination and then following it with a role-call vote?

Afraid?...of what? Superdelegates realizing that BO is the wrong choice? Or...maybe Hillary's name would be placed into nomination for VP? So many possibilities if you "play by the rules" which is what the DNC has STATED it has been doing all along.

Give me a break! P.U.M.A. This life-long Democrat is fed-UP!

Thank goodness that the plane landed safely! I wish Obama safety
and wellness even though I won't EVER vote for him.

In any regard, do his supporters realize that Obama did NOT, I repeat, did NOT, vote against the war.

Obama was not a US Senator at the time of the vote.

Obama only gave a little speech in his Chicago district. And when asked directly how he WOULD have voted, he said he DIDN'T KNOW!

Texas Trail Dog   July 7th, 2008 11:41 am ET

Senator Obama, don't put it off any longer. Name Hillary as your VP. If you want to raise your president candidates poll by 20% do it today. There are a lot of us Hillary supporters that are sitting on the fence waiting for your decision. The only right decision you can make that will benefit, YOU, HILLARY AND THIS NATION, IS NAMING HER AS YOUR VP. The two of you will make a formidable pair that no other Republican candidates could touch. DON'T WAIT! SO THE DEMOCRAT PARTY CAN FINALLY COME TOGETHER. I'm afraid if you wait until the convention or right before you will lose a lot of votes. Then it will be touch and go as to your winning the White House. WITH HILLARY, YES YOU CAN.

Brian G, Sugar Land, TX   July 7th, 2008 11:41 am ET

Hey, hey, hey...take good care of our next president.

Only 53 comments allowed in the "Obama gives speech in stadium" story and they close the comments when there are too many anti-Obama postings. I'm sure they will leave this non-story about the plane open for 300 postings....as long as most of the postings are pro-Obama.

Meanwhile, at CNN HQ, quotation marks run rampant...

USAF Staff Sergeant   July 7th, 2008 11:26 am ET

Somehow, the Haters and Republicans will find a way to criticize Obama.

"This shows a lack of leadership, McCain would have taken control of the plane and landed it safely."

Although, if it was anything like his past flights, he would crash into power lines AGAIN. Seriously, he once crashed into power lines. Non combat.

Sean   July 7th, 2008 11:26 am ET

Can I be the first to say 'Honestly, is this really new, CNN'.

Dennis Oyler   July 7th, 2008 11:26 am ET

On the matter Obama's landing? There are two parties involved. The Pilot and the Air Traffic Controller. I am and was both. The critical job of the Air Traffic Controller is to "Insure the safe, orderly and expiditious flow of air traffic.
The Pilot has the greatest risk as he and his charge are not on the ground therefore "The Pilot is the final Authority in the operation of his aircraft".
Sounds like the Pilot took the proper cautionary measures.
Thanks for giving me this opportunity to respond.
Dennis
