Obama supporters don't have any idea of what Obama will do because he, himself, is clueless. He changes with the wind to get to where he wants to be and I can tell you, by what little voting he has done, it's not a good place. Waaaaay too far to the left; will continue our downward slide into 3rd world nation status. Vote for McCain - experience, loyalty, proven courageous.

look at the hateful, un-informed posts on this thread. maybe we can just stay on the facts and keep the 'opinion' out of it for a while. yes, we know.. some of you hate Obama and will not vote for him. yes we know, 'Operation chaos" people are still here posing and trying to keep the division from the primary going....

i just want ONE person on here to have the guts to answer this question...

The republicans had control of the entire government for 6 of the last 7 years. WHY DIDN'T THEY PUSH DRILLING THEN....?

(answer: because they don't WANT to drill)... its expensive, there are no barges to carry the oil, there are no refineries.. (and why haven't the oil companies built any new refineries)...

i DARE someone to answer these questions.....

i'll wait............

McCain is a lightweight and an adulterer. He will never be my president--I never voted for Bill Clinton and I will never vote for McCain. He makes the Rupublicans' issue on family values look like a joke.

Obama does not have any of his own policies. He is a clean slate so he waits for John McCain to come up with his policies/ideas and no sooner he does that Obama punces on him to show as if he has better ideas. I do not know when these liberal will open their eyes and ears. Vote John McCain. There is no other choice.

OIL MAN PICKERING IS INVESTING IN WIND ENERGY.

THAT IS THE GREATEST APPROVAL FOR OBAMA

ENERGY PLAN. INVEST IN AMERICA, NOT IN THE

MIDDLE EAST. HOW DOES IT MAKE SENSE TO ANY ONE???.

TO SEND SUCH ENORMOUS AMOUNTS OF OUR MONEY TO

IRAQ. IT'S THE LOOTING OF AMERICA, BY IT'S OWN LEADERS.

If we were going to drill for oil off our shores, it should have been done years ago. Drilling will not lower prices, it will only prolong the inevitable! There's only so much oil in the earth people. Our major auto companies are making and selling cars that don't run on gas to other countriesfor years; however, our wonderful government has not allowed them to do the same here! Get a clue. Taxing the oil companies will not lower prices! We need to get over our dependency on oil that is in everything we use, even those plastic bags the grocery stores push us to put our groceries in. Renewable resources need to be developed for everything from transportation to women's make-up. If not, I hate to think of the kind of world my grandchildren are going to try to live in.

The US has already past the point of no return when it comes to dependence on imported fossil fuels. What is needed is drastic action to wean ourselves from fossil fuels. And I do not mean ethanol, because that just raises the cost of food.

America needs to move forward to energy independence and a greener enviroment. Sooner or later, all combustion sources will have to be outlawed. The sonner we start down that path the better.

McCain is answering to the US oil industry. It is ridiculous to think the answer to our gas addiction is to destroy the value of our coastlines with drills AND all the hideous shoreline support. Supply, demand, speculation within the global arena, and just possibly very bad international relations with oil producing countries will drive oil prices and the well being of our economy from now on. McCain will only continue the downward spiral.

Ok CNN-why can you never print anything said about MCCain's HERO STAUS that my question his integrity? What about freedom of speech? McCain is using his Hero Status for political gain. Hero's are humble and are honored for their sacrifice. They don't not use their personal torment to make voters guilty or sorry for them. Did McCain vote for the Vet's benifits package? NO. What about all the suffering/tortured Americans without healthcare or safe have from abuse. What about cut back to Child Protective Sevices, causing suffering? Should we HOPE to have a government who cares about all of us not just the wealthy? McCain shoul be ASHAMED of the way he is exploiting his hero status. It earns him respect and thanks for his service to the country and a hero asks no more.

To all you PUMAs, HRC supporters, etc.
You continue with your diatribes on these forums even when they are irrelevant. When will you realize it's over? No one wants to hear your constant ranting and raving.
As for castigating the Obama supporters as haters, liers, cheats or whatever, I think you need to look in a mirror. HRC trotted out the negative campaigning first. It was Bill who played the race card first. It was the Clintons who drove me to Obama. Because it was HIS campaign that seemed a little cleaner, seemed to have more vision and seemed more positive. Quite frankly, I've never seen any of the things you allegate in the Obama campaign, but I have seen it in the Clinton campaign.
Now - back on subject - McCain's only answer is to drill, drill, drill. Even though it will not produce results for a number of years and, even then, will not produce enough oil to be significant. We need vision from our leaders.

Go to YouTube and search for "Who Killed the Electric Car?"

There are several parts--watch them all. It was shown at Sundance in 2006 and also on PBS. There was a good electric car made in the 90's that people really liked, but the car companies and oil companies squashed it--literally. The testers wanted to buy the cars but were not allowed to. Bush, Cheney, and other Republicans are mentioned for their roll in silencing it so they could continue to make big oil profits.

If that car was that good then, and had been refined and improved all this time, we wouldn't be in this situation.

What this ad fails to acknowledge is that about 40% of the price of oil nowadays is speculative. In other words, if investors expected the price to stay the same oil would be about $86 per barrel, not $140. It's this high right now simply because investors expect it to go over $200 in the next few years (which will probably happen if we don't start drilling).

Any credible analyst will tell you that the market will react immediately to the announcement that we are drilling, which makes Obama's contention that it will do nothing for 7 years entirely irrelevant. Then again nobody ever accused Democrats of understanding economics.

Guess what? Had we drilled seven years ago, we'd have that oil now.

It's time to do offshore drilling and go to ANWR. The offshore platforms would not be seen from land. As for ANWR, the size of the drilling and pumping station in the vast ANWR would be the equivalent of a postage stamp in the middle of a football field, and confined to ANWR's coastal plain, which is relatively bare. As in all places where we drill, responsibility and safety of the surrounding environment would have to be primary.

We need other energy options, but while these are being developed we also need a continuing supply of oil. I, for one, would like to see it come from our own sources and not from the Middle East. Those folks over there have us over a barrel (literally and figuratively speaking) and they sure know it....and milk it for all it's worth.

This term McBush is very tiring and confusing to me. If you really believe McCain is the same as Bush, you have no clue about politics.

That would be like me saying O'Jackson. Obama and Jesse Jackson are not the same, so why compare Bush and McCain? If you knew anything about McCain you would know that for years he has been the most liberal Republican out there. That means MIDDLE. DUH. Not far left wing like O'Jackson.

Obama Junkie. Drilling is safer than transporting the spill in Alaska was transport not drilling and there have been NO spills in the gulf. Not to mention all of the greenest countries in the world drill off their own shores. Stop with stupid people one Democratic sound bite is not the truth it is the same BS argument they have used for 30 years and that is why we are where we are.

Investing on alternative sources of energy will send strong signal to OPEC and other oil producing countries to lower prices or risk major losses...This will be stronger signal than off shore drilling.
Investing in Natur wind is better and safer (CNN just reported that)...
Then Obama is right in investing 150 billions on this source of energy.

This is the real change we can believe in

Obama supporters don't have any idea of what Obama will do because he, himself, is clueless. He changes with the wind to get to where he wants to be and I can tell you, by what little voting he has done, it's not a good place. Waaaaay too far to the left; will continue our downward slide into 3rd world nation status. Vote for McCain - experience, loyalty, proven.

Will CNN post this one or is it too much truth?

Offshore drilling? Screw that. Drill in North Dakota. There's 4.1 billion barrels there, largely untapped, and probably more undiscovered. Drill where the oil companies are already allowed to drill. Plenty of currently untapped oil there.

Jim in phila:
You're an ignorant fool. Hydroelectric (hoover dam anyone), solar, geothermal, and tidal are left. I'm not opposed to nuclear power, but don't be a liar and act like oil, coal, and nuclear are our only options. If we use all the solar we can, all the hydro we can, all the tidal we can, and all the geothermal that we can, and limit nuclear to the areas that don't have access to any of the above, we can go a whole lot further with a whole lot less.

If we stick to coal, we run out of coal, while doing an amazing amount of damage to the environment we live in. It's your environment too, it's in your best interest to keep it nice. If we use nuclear energy excessively, you've got lovely targets for terrorists, and what do you do with all those spent nuclear rods? If you use oil, you are subject to the whims of tinpot dictators like Chavez and Ahmenajad, and you're got the environmental risks on top of that as well.

There's a reason that many Republicans are finally (and far too belatedly) getting on board with the whole "Green" thing. There's a reason that Newt Gingrich is doing PSA spots with Nancy Pelosi talking about the environment. That reason is simple: We've got one world to live on, it is by far in our best interests to keep it in good shape.

You might be able to live in a dirty messy house, but would you want to? If you never clean, vermin may thrive. The vermin may be vectors for various diseases. It's possible to survive in a dirty house, but it isn't pleasant and it's not in your best interests. Clean it up.

"Yes we can! Yes we can! Yes we can!"

Let's see...
Explore for new oil? No, we can't do that.
Open areas now off limits for drilling? No, we can't do that.
Drill for oil? Eh, no, not that either.
Build new refineries? No, not that EITHER.
How about outlawing "boutique" gasoline blends and limit fuel blends to two varieties... gas and diesel. No-can-do.
Build nuclear plants? Nada.
Explore the same coal-to-petrol process that Hitler used to fueled his war machine? Zip.
How about build cars that run on hope and good intentions? Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

For the candidate of "yes we can," all I seem to be hearing is a lot of "no we can't."

And the ad does not define - when or what 'urgent priority' really means. Does it mean 'I will begin to pull out troops from Iraq in 60 days' to '18 months' or does it mean 'I could no more disown Reverend Wright' to 'under the bus you go'????

Obamas words are nothing more than a manipulation based on misleading comments. He is a looser!

Jake,
What planet did you fly in from? If this country is such an honorable country, please tell me why everyone hate us and think we are bullies?
Any change from the Repub policies would be a start in the right direction. Don't know about you, but I need change from high energy, food, college cost. Apparently, you must be one of those Bush elitist. Yes, there have been opportunities, but I have had to fight ten times harder to achieve them. Please think before you speak!!

Great ad! Yes most Americans can see right through McCain's propaganda and see that he is really just an extension of Bush/Cheney's Big Oil corrpution. People wake-up and take the blinders off...do not believe the lies from McCain, Big Oil and OPEC.

The Truth July 8th, 2008 1:18 pm ET

To Tony:

I am sure the reason you say he is "inexperienced" is because you truly believe that, and not some underlying racist hatered for the color of his skin.

Which part of Obama do you hate, his White side or his Black side? Are you so full of hate that you hate the Black in him so much that you cannot see th White in him?

A vote against Obama isn't racism. Just about everyone doesn't care about the color of his skin. They don't like him because he is weak and shallow.

DOn't bring racism into this. That is absolutely disgusting gutter politics, and you should be ashamed of yourself. YOU are the bigot.

THOSE AGAINST OBAMA'S ENERGY PLAN, ARE THE SAME

MORONS THAT SAID GLOBAL WARMING WAS OUR IMAGINATION.

OBAMA IS FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY.

WIND, OCEAN, SOLAR, CAN LEAD TO A HEALTHIER PLANET

AND A GREAT ECONOMY. WE WOULD KEEP ALL THE MONEY

WE PAY FOR ENERGY IN OUR ECONOMY. IF WE STARTED

WORKING ON IT 20 YEARS AGO, WE WOULD BE GETTING

30% OF OUR ENERGY FROM SUCH SOURCES. THE PRICE

OF OIL WOULD BE A HECK OF A LOT CHEAPER, LESS DEMAND.

WE ARE BEING LOOTED BY OUR OWN POLITICIANS.

People are so ill informed. Drilling here in the US will NOT stop our dependency on foreign oil. It only reduces our use a very small percentage. It will keep us from trying to create new ways to conduct re-usable and bio fuels.

I think it is far fetched to put the survival of your economy on a gamble i.e the possibility of finding new oil spots. This idea is not a total cast away but highly risky.on a subjective level i support research into alternative source of energy therefore OBAMA is my guy!!!!!

Actually Vigla, if you knew anything, (which you obviously are ignorant, considering you're a liberal and all, that's a given) you would understand that oil is traded on a futures market.

In other words, if we had opened up drilling then, we would have a greater future supply now, therefore speculators wouldn't be watching the middle east in a state of panic.

Also, oil companies do have leases of land. However, to build a rig takes about one and a half billion. If they only get a billion dollars worth of oil out of it, then that's a loss. That's why they're not stupid enough to drill there either economically or profitably, because a billion bucks of oil won't get us very far. However, they know where there is a major supply and that's where they want to drill.

Liberal: def (n)- Someone who pretends to be informed, but really just drinks the Kool-Aid and waits for someone to bail them out of the sucky life they created for themselves.

I know this makes too much sense to make sense, but
PUMA people who aer upset that Senator Obama has taken on some of Senator Clinton's positions as he moves to the general election campaign,
why would you vote for Obama over McCain? Because Obama champions the same positions your favoriate candidate, Clinton, had.

Or, would it make better sense to vote against the person who champions your causes in favor of a person who has positions diametrically opposed to your favorite candidate?
And just one example would be te 2005 budget amendment when Senator Clinton pushed for this in order to help prevent teenage pregnancy through education and birth control. Guess who voted against it? Yep, the other guy, McCain.

So, help explain WHY you vote against the positions that you held just two months ago, we'll all be looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely, an Obama fan praying that the former Hillary Clinton (and Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, John Edwards, Gov. Gravel, Mike Kucinich and Gov Bill Richardson was my favorite) supporters get a grip on reality nad understand that there are two choice - McCain and Obama. And out of those two, one will become President. Likewise, only one of these two are even close to the same ideals you found and cherished in Clinton. That would be Senator Obama.

Judgement over experience:

Hey, can you do simple math?

Let's take twenty percent of twenty thousand dollars. That would be four thousand dollars. Let's say that's what you pay in taxes because I can't imagine someone like you making any more than that.

Now let's take someone with a brain, he'll make two hundred thousand. We'll be fair and give him the same percentage. Twenty percent of that would be forty thousand dollars.

Huh. Guess who's paying more right now anyways?

Liberal- def. (n): Someone who blames other people for his failure to succeed in life, but is severely jealous of those who do.
