Obama family talks campaign life

(CNN) - Whether or not their dad becomes the next president of the United States, the Obama kids are already winners - of a dog, that is.

In an interview with the entire Obama family to air later Tuesday, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, told Access Hollywood their famous mom and dad promised to buy a dog after the rigorous campaign season comes to an end.

"Win or lose, win or lose," the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee said.

In the interview, Malia also said she often gives her dad campaign tips on how to reach out to young people her age.

"You really don't shake kids’ hands that much, you shake adult hands," she said. “And I say you just wave and say hi, so I do that kind of stuff."

What's it like to have parents in the spotlight? Malia said now she reads about her mom in People Magazine.

"They always have those sections with you know, how much people's dresses cost, and so I saw that magazine, and I said, 'Oh mommy you're in this!' I've never seen mommy in that. Because I usually see people like Angelina Jolie –”

"You know, important people," mom Michelle quipped.

"Yes, real important people, no offense," Malia said.

You could go into sugar shock reading some of these posts. So, they are getting a dog. I hope he doesn;t pick a Pure bred, he should rescue one. THAT is the right thing to do. :)

I hope they decide to adopt instead.. 3-4million healthy unwanted animals are euthanized each year by shelters. Buying animals only contributes to the pet overpopulation problem. And Please "Please spay & neuter"

How Obama performs as a parent and husband is much more informative than something his pastor said. Get a clue.

The anti-Obama factions are going to have a field day with stories like this, or at least try and make themselves sound a bit scary.

You cannot write McCain stories such as this. What is there to actually write about?

Why does CNN put this in as news? This is just crap! I can't believe the dems nominated a FRESHMAN senator with no experience. This guy talks a good talk...but can he walk the walk?

I love the relationship that Mr. Obama has with his wife and daughters. You can tell by their interactions that it is for real and not for show. Even though I don't see this piece as Ticker worthy, I do see why it's on CNN. The more we know of our candidates, the better.

For those of you asking if this is real news, the answer is no, it's not. Honestly, when do we ever get real news when it comes to politics? It's all a game. He did this, she said that. It's like a more twisted version of the highschool social scene. People can't get enough drama.

You gotta love people who hate Obama. It's funny to hear them beg people to hate him too. It never works.

Demonizing Obama is the only hope the GOP has to get grandpa elected. McCain is nothing to brag about.

CNN – why aren't you covering the story of how Obama plans to fill the stadium???

If you make a donation of $5 or more between now and midnight on July 31st, you could be one of 10 supporters chosen to fly to Denver and spend two days and nights at the convention, meet Barack backstage, and watch his acceptance speech in person. Each of the 10 supporters who are selected will be able to bring one guest to join them.

This is absolutely disgusting...turning the process for electing the leader of the free world into a raffle...

Please...please...please see if there is a way to ensure that the Baracks go to an animal shelter to get their new dog! We have six dogs five of which have been rescued and there is no better example to set than to get a pet who will represent what Obama stands for....Hope!

For people on this thread who seem to question whether this is news or not...think about this: When was the last time you had a Presidential Candidate who had a young family. Obviously Obama is doing a great job running his FUNCTIONAL house hold. To me, that means that he shares the sames interests as the rest of American families. Its obvious that he will make decisions that will help the American family because he has one himself.

Its sickening how non-Obama supporters try to turn everything this man says or does into a negative.

In other news St. Obama is still breathing and plans to eat a sandwich for lunch. He may drink water today as well. We will break into the news to show you his new speech that is him repeating the same speach that he's given dozens of times, just in case you haven't seen it yet.

I hope Sen. Obama considers adopting a dog from rescue or a shelter rather than buying one.

Man, there are so many MISERABLE folks that arrive here everyday to spew nothing but negativity. What is so wrong with seeing a lighter side of our next President. I wish Eric-Pa, Matt-NE, and Brooklyn, would just go play on the freeway. Everyday it's the same old hate and discontent. I would truly hate to live in their households.

This family belongs in the white house. To all of those who will not vote for a black man , get over it. The world does not revolve around you.Wait until Senator Obama goes overseas , see how they receive him. I am not a believer in Geo. Bush , but I am very disturbed that there is a book coming out about Laura Bush.I am praying that no one buys it or reads it. Go after Geo. all you want I enjoy that , but leave Mrs. Bush and her family alone.

If you're diabetic, stay away from this article!!!!

They are a lovely family just like millions of other lovely families that I would love to live next door to, and have my children play with theirs.
I just don't know what that has to do wtih his presidential qualifications. In the past, candidates tried to shield their children from the spotlight so they could have 'normal' childhoods.

Seems the Tool is using his children as props and that is disgraceful.

I guess you can say this is very COSBY-ish... And there is nothing wrong with that, Bill Cosby is a great supporter of education and integrity. I'm so happy to see the love they have, Because I don't see it regularly especially not on TV. Looking forward to see these young ladies grow up in The White House. President Obama may have to get two dogs. One for each daughter cause they deserve it. Awesome family, Great report...

The media coverage of this campaign is really getting to me. Foreclosures are at an all time high, gas prices are making it so that regular families have to dig themselves into debt just to cover the essentials, utility prices are set for a 20% increase, we're stuck in Iraq....but instead of having meaningful dialogue on how the candidates plan on fixing these issues, we're talking about the Obama dog...or Wesley Clark's stupid comments...or [insert 99% of the other campaign headlines we've been seeing]. This is one of the most important elections of the modern era, and its being covered with the substance of an Access Hollywood gossip piece. I don’t get it.

God, what a beautiful family. They look so genuine. Barry is such a nice man. I think he's one of those guys who took his own lack of a father and said "no more". Instead of what his dad did... he is an ideal father to his own children. Some of us overcome our history while others continue the mistakes of their father's.

McCain cheated on his first wife (Carol McCain **do the research, google it**) after she was disfigured in a car wreck. Cindy, the heir to a beer distribution company was the woman he cheated on his wife with. They got married and it's Cindy's rich daddy who got McCain involved in Politics. Of course, he's not elite... but Obama who just finished paying his student loans 5 years ago is an elitist with a silver spoon in hand.
