Obama family talks campaign life

The Obama family spent The Fourth of July in Montana.
The Obama family spent The Fourth of July in Montana.

(CNN) - Whether or not their dad becomes the next president of the United States, the Obama kids are already winners - of a dog, that is.

In an interview with the entire Obama family to air later Tuesday, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, told Access Hollywood their famous mom and dad promised to buy a dog after the rigorous campaign season comes to an end.

"Win or lose, win or lose," the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee said.

In the interview, Malia also said she often gives her dad campaign tips on how to reach out to young people her age.

"You really don't shake kids’ hands that much, you shake adult hands," she said. “And I say you just wave and say hi, so I do that kind of stuff."

What's it like to have parents in the spotlight? Malia said now she reads about her mom in People Magazine.

"They always have those sections with you know, how much people's dresses cost, and so I saw that magazine, and I said, 'Oh mommy you're in this!' I've never seen mommy in that. Because I usually see people like Angelina Jolie –”

"You know, important people," mom Michelle quipped.

"Yes, real important people, no offense," Malia said.

  1. Go McCain

Give me a break. Why not talk about the recent poll that shows pet owners prefer McCain. So, now all of a sudden, Obama is planning on getting a dog. Typical politician.

Pres. Bush' kids grew up in the White house.. They are very cute.. One recently got married out at his ranch in Crawford. As Laura said.. history will vindicate him.. Bush knew he wasn't all knowing, and so he hired the best in their fields to help him manage this country. I guarantee there was a reason to go into Iraq. Stability in a region with black gold that americans are so addicted to? Just think.. have an established base in the Middle East right next to Iran, to ensure stability in the Gulf.. (like we are doing in Japan and Korea).. Allow international Oil companies into the country (Which Saddam nationalized) to pump even more oil.. Iraq has one of the worlds largest reserves.. If you want to get out of Iraq, then stop driving your SUV's!! Take public transportation. If you pull troops out of Iraq, you think the cost of gas will magically go down? Iran will move into Iraq (They are shia's you know), and then essentially have control over a vast amount of oil.. Combine that with Venezuela, and guess what.. With you liberals not allowing oil exploration in our own country.. we will be neutered by 2 countries holding us hostage because our economy depends on oil. Do something about it NOW! We've had a democrat controlled congress.. what have they done? Have they pushed bills to get us off this oil addiction? I think not!

There is a simply solution for all you anti Obama people out there. Stay off any thread regarding him and articles like this. But to put down his family and the fact that he is a good father is unacceptable.

  7. Another old white woman for Obama

To all the ranters about adopting a dog:
The Humane Society SELLS the dogs. They are not FREE!
Geez! They have had their shots and been spayed or neutered.
    What planet are you from?

    Great puff piece....

I believe Jimmy "Mr Peanut" Carter also took advice from his daughter, look where that got him.

Big picture folks, someone paid big bucks to have an inexperienced empty suit get this nomination.

If he wins, there will be payback to all those who invested in this man.

I've often found that children are a good reflection of how parents behave when nobody else is watching.

For those of you who doubt Barack and Michelle–look at their children.

Has anyone ever seen McCain do anything special with his family at all?

Yes, he kicked his wife and kids to the curb so he could be with Cindy.

The family appears so down to earth and well connected.
I think we need this refreshment in The White House for leadership and family values. They all appeared grounded and not stuck up!
If Mc Cain really called his wife that ugly name he needs to return to the aNavy or Dr. Graham's for prayer after washing his mouth out with soap. She should had showed him the door. AThat was emotional abuse!

You guys sound like a bunch of star struck wierdos. Who cares about their dog. I am sure that it won't be long before Obama throws the dog under the bus too. I want lower gas prices, jobs, peace, and a respectable government. It is frightening that you fall all over yourselves about Obama getting a dog!!

To the poster who said.. this is an article about Obama.. stop bringing McCain into it, I say.. the Obamites did it first. They have a candidate of no substance, and the only way they try to hype him up is by name calling McCain. Look at all the messages from the top down and you will see my point.

  18. Fed up with the lies

Cute kids, and a real American family; but what does this have to do with the election? If Sen. Obama is elected for being the type of Presidential candidate I think he is; good for him. If he's elected because he has cute kids; God help America!

    Obama 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020 etc.

I love watching grown men and women act like children ranting, degrading, and criticizing people they think they know while hiding behind a computer screen. Has this society turned to depend on negative news 100% of the time? Can CNN post a "feel good" story on the ticker without close-minded people finding someway instigate hatred or speculation. Go back to you miniscule ORG's and PACTS and spew your hatred to someone who cares. And I am sorry if you feel betrayed by HRC supporting BHO, what you didn't believe BHO supporters when they said that she doesn't care about you? If she did care about you why did she turned to the dark side, no pun intended?

    Conservative= Old
    BHO supporters= Smart individuals

  24. Go Obama

And you wonder why Hillary sheilded chelsea from the public, Wonder what she could have said or blurted out? I am sure more than we all would love to know

But these kids it shows Obama is true, what you see is what your getting. Nothing is hidden. Because his kids could blurt something out. I think they are a true, cool, respectable family and it shows. Through the mouths of babes.

And you still have to pay to adopt. Buying didnt say whether they were buying a dog from a person, breeder, or humane society so lighten up people.. geesh!

The Media has done the American people a great disservice in elevating Obama to the adorable and untouchable level. We will find out in several years how phony and ineffective he really is. Then all you suckers who believed the media crap will be crying and whining.
