DUH! It was about painting the picture so even more of the media would fall in love with him, not about sheltering his girls.

If it were about that from the begining, they would have never been on tv, especially due to how young they are. Just a not smart move on his part. But the woman you all hate so much, Hillary flat out, boldy and directly said Chelsea was off limits as a topic of discussion...EVEN NOW as a grown woman. Hillary still protected her child.

McCain's children aren't PLASTERED all over the tv. Take a clue Obama. Man I can't wait for the rock-star status to leave this guy.

Don't regret the decision now.

Although I'm voting for McCain, I watched this interview and saw nothing wrong with it. His girls are very cute and well spoken for their ages. This whole process will change their lives, whether Obama wins or loses. We all know the media will use them whether they're in the spotlight or not.

I guess that's an oops. At least it is now. Strange he didn't think of that until after he's gotten the good press by 'displaying' his absolutely adorable children.

I don't believe he thinks it was a mistake at all. I think he knew exactly what he was doing. The reporter says the campaign asked for the interview. Sounds suspiciously well thought out.

Just another slick politician. I don't want to hear any more of his supporters talking about "Slick Willy". At least the Clintons didn't use their daughter when she was a child.

Tell me again who has the better judgement and moral character?

Comments here will always continue to be negative. Voters believe it or not want to know the candidates family. IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL. so he says he regrets having his family on TV. BIG DEAL! How about commenting on McCain joking killing Iranians by sending them cigarettes? Non Issue.. so is this one..

the same folks with the venom are consistent with the screen names.. you know who you. does not matter if he is walking with his kids in the park. you will find a way to add a negative comment. Ask yourself why every insignificant issue has to be over analyzed..

Oh.. I forgot you have no life..
Please post CNN along with the other gratuitous posts..

Obama has a well rounded family. In this day and age family is just a word used in the english language. Nomatter what Obama does there will be criticism even though this interview with the family was just a step back from the hard campaign. I thought it showed something about the family. If you are not going to vote for Obama thats your right. But lets stop placating the facad and just say you don't want a black man to be president. At least be honest because Mccain will give u everythingyou have had in the last 8 years so when its time vote for McCain because once he is in you won't have anything left but your vote

I don't hate the guy at all. Obama is the one who said he made an error in judgment by putting his kids out there. He also said he made similiar mistakes in regard to Rev. Wright, staying on at Trinity, wiretapping, lapel pins and most recently his stance on Iraq. I like the guy. One day he may be a great President, but not now. His inexperience and judgment is the 800 lb gorilla in the room.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Speaking with CNN Tuesday, Menounos, the Access Hollywood reporter, said the campaign had reached out to the show for an interview and her only goal was to show the Obama family dynamic.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I'm sorry Ms. Menounos but I don't exactly buy it that the campaign sought you out instead of the other way around. This family has been hounded for interviews and they relented with your outfit.

The "interview" seemingly [I haven't seen it] was benign enough so there is no issue there.

However, as a journalist, or whatever you consider yourself, it's time you and others like you stop word smything your comments to make yourselves look better than you are. In your comment, in a minor way, you are attempting to place an onus for the interview on someone other than yourself. You wanted this and pursued it. Just come clean.

WHat's the big deal?
They seemed like a regular, ol' family to me...
Precocious girls and two parents nervous every moment about what one of those girls might say!
Seemed like my family a bit... especially with the husband/dad wearing his 10 year old clothes when there are new ones hanging in the closet.

WHOOPS! My kids ended up on national TV!

Sending your two little girls out for a TV interview doesn't happen by accident. It's not something you "regret" 24-hours later, it's something you avoid beforehand.

What does this say about the capricious nature of his short-term judgement? What are the large scale implications should he become President?

Obama is such a great dad. This is the second "Obama daughters" story in two days. He obviously cares so much about his daughters that he's willing to use them to create an image of himself as warm and likeable.

You're likeable enough, Barack.

Well, not really.

We will not forgive you for what you did to our party.

If Mr. Obama didn't wish to have his daughters on television, he should not allowed the interview to take place.

I find it very insincere that he took advantage of a photo-op and then claims he "regrets" his decision. This is the most precious thing he has in his life, his family. He chose to allow this to happen, now he's flopping on his decision to do so.

The more I hear from this gentleman, the more I realize he simply does not have anything in his life that is close to him that he hasn't "regretted". (look at his close relationship with the fine Reverend, who inspired, counseled, married, baptized his family for examples)

Insincere and a typical politician. When the polls disagree, he changes to fit the polls.

Furthermore, it's funny how opponents of Obama are unwilling to recognize that he is indeed a good father and husband, as is evidence by this very interview. Spin it however you want to, but you have no legitmate claim otherwise. His children are obviously very well raised. A credit to him AND Michelle.

Many have ranted that we do not know much about Obama; this glimpse into his family life helps. His girls are exceptionally gorgeous, well spoken and appear to be grounded, normal kids. I hope that find their experiences as America’s Princesses over the next 8 years a positive one. I certainly understand not wanting to make a habit of pushing them into the spot light, but this one interview does not deserve any criticism.

I appreciate a man who can say "I am sorry, I was wrong." (Although I don't think this was a particullarly wrong decision, but maybe the girls have been bragging about it or something)

For the last eight years I don't think we've heard a single "I am sorry, I was wrong" for mistakes far bigger than putting kids in the limelight.

After seeing the interview with the Obama family, I'm even more impressed.

After 20 years, we have a FAITHFUL, DEVOTED family man who's also ARTICULATE and INTELLIGENT...

What a breath of fresh air!

Silly Democrats. Are you better off today than you were before Bush took office? If not, why go McCain way when Obama and Hillary are about 90% the same as far as how to initiate positive change. If we get McCain and things don't improve, remember you voted for McCain you silly democrat. Obama is human and good to see he has family just like many of us.

i respect sen obama for reflecting on the decisions that he makes.
it shows character and a high moral outlook.

His family is beautiful and well-spoken. I am honored that people of this caliber has volunteered to serve this country in the highest capacity. That is what patriotism looks like.

it's quite refreshing to have a person who will be in the White house that actually thinks and not plot like the current war criminals that are staying there.

It was a good move on Obamas part to show the American people that he's down to earth and is a family man. His daughters to me came across quite smart and not to mention adorable! It's a good move for him to keep them away from the media from here on. The attention was unexpected like he said.

The funny thing about this PUMA and Still for Hill garbage:

If she does get the opportunity to run again, I and many people I know will never give her any shot specifically because she has not addressed these yahoos.

So, just as you blame Obama supporters for making you feel the way you do, you are ensuring NO political future for your girl.

I know in NY, the tides have turned. Many are pretty upset with her, FOR DOING NOTHING FOR THE STATE.

She better get down on her knees and beg Obama for a job. She won't get re elected in NY.

Many of you have exposed your ignorant, racist tendencies. Wether you support Obama or not, would it not be honest for you to simply say that you would vote for an untrained white monkey before ever voting for an intelligent half-black-half-white man who actually earned a college degree? How reprehensible are some of you to vote for this nation to continue to be led down hill before coming to terms with your racism?

To Still for Hill and the rest of those who are unable to move forward: if you're "Still for Hill", why do you not support her in her support of Obama? If you're voting for McCain, you're not "still for Hill".

You have a choice in the fall to use your vote to support policies that your hero Hillary opposes or to use it to advance policies that Hillary Clinton supported and still does. If your beef is with Obama's lack of experience, you would have supported Joe Biden in the primary, as his experience tops Clinton's and Obama's put together. So that rationalization doesn't wash.

If you support Hillary Clinton, then recognize that McCain is the anti-Clinton and to elect him is to punish the country in so you can punish certain elements of the Democratic Party. It may make emotional sense to you, but so does bulemia to those who engage in it. Fight the Democratic Party by fighting the party, not by crashing the entire country into a brick wall. Sheesh.

Sorry "Ann"....Nate's right! You and your friend "Still for Hill" are counterproductive and we DON'T want you back! If you vote for John McCain simply because your candidate didn't win a primary ( which is the dumbest logic I've heard in a long while) then you deserve what you'll get from his 3rd Bush term!

I'm an Obama supporter and always have been, but if he would have lost the nomination, there's NO WAY I would have abandoned my party out of SPITE and voted for MCSAME!!! Let's see what the posts look like this time next year when gas is $7.00 a gallon.

Way to go ''STILL FOR HILL"!!!

I think the interview was very nice and "light." but don't go overboard trying to prove to us that you are a 'typical family'. Don't do it for "Michelle damage control" purposes.

I think it is very good for children everywhere to see the Obama children from time to time.

Allowing his daughters (no matter how adorable) on stage is one thing, but to have an actual interview is another. That was indeed a stupid mistake. And Chelsea Clinton is a grown woman. Correct me if I'm wrong, but did any media actually interview her when her dad was in the White House - cause I've never seen an interview with the young Chelsea. And why does Michelle always have to say something stupid?

CNN seems to be miffed that they didn't get the interview. AC made sure to say yesterday that the interviewer was also a shampoo model- like that's relevant. I will take even this headline with a pinch of salt. I'm sure it was nothing dramatic.

Hillary was/is not the Democrats only choice - though I'm not sure those that would make such a statement were ever Democratic to begin with.

I don't think Obama has anything to regret. It was a good interview, and gave some connection to a good family. It showed his kids as well-brought-up, and his entire family as a good, solid family unit that anyone would be happy to be a part of. The presidency is not a royal reign. In theory, presidents and their families are common folk, and the American people should have some access to them. But considering the kooks out there, any public figure has to be careful about what kind of access is given to the family. Going forward, Obama should be very careful about who has access, and why. The media and Obama's enemies will twist the situation to their own advantage, and stalkers need very little information to become infatuated.

I thought the interview was cute. Unfortunately because Obama is now a pop star/idol, everything he does is scutinized to the 10th power. So he is right in not allowing any more interviews. The media will stomp all over him and his family as soon as they get a chance.

Just like the Muslim Americans who are complaining about Barack saying that he is not a Muslim. American Muslims are upset that Barack hasn't said that being a Muslim is ok.

Its always you are darned if you do and darned if you dont
