envied – at Obama. Afterall, here's a guy who is the first generation

As a white woman, over 60, I support Barack Obama because I do not see his message aimed only at Africa Americans-I see it as a message to ALL Americans. It is sad to be made aware of the racial prejudice that still exists in our country. As a Southerner I am particularly sensitive as so many people from other parts of the country seem to believe that all Southerners are racists. My God sees no skin color-why should I?

I cannot say whether or not his bitter comments were made because of envy, and frankly I do not care. I am an African American male and I am appaulled that he would tear down another black man for the sake...what? Cut his nutts off?? Are you serious? And Jesse is suppose to be a SUPPORTED of Barack? And I just have to wonder..if someone white would have said it, Jesse and his crew (Al Sharpton, Quanell X) would have had a field day with this. Where is Rev Al on this matter? Jesse Jackson represents an old Civil Rights era black politician. He reminds me of an athlete that is washed up but will not leave the playing field. I does not represent my interests and never has. I always looked at his as one who represented himself. There are some issues in the black community that have little to do with the government and little to do with white people. There is a segment of black people that have where there has been fatherless families and woman having to depend on welfare. There is a segment of the black community that have been involved in allot of crime and drug use. I am young black professional that graduated from college in 2004 and had to work very hard. I had to work construction jobs and other jobs to put myself through college and still managed to earn the Dean's List and Honor Society. No one gave me anything. I did not come from a family with much money. I am married now, fortunate enough to buy a house and hopefully I will have my first child soon. There are no excuses for crime and fatherless families. Sure there is still racism and discrimination. I have had to deal with some of that, BUT some in the black community need to stop blaming other people for some in our communities personal failings.

We all saw what we wanted to see in Obama when he started his run for the presidency.That hasn't changed. Some of us admire him and some just can't stand the man.

This IS about jealousy but it's also because Senator Obama touched a nerve... No one has mentioned the 800 lb gorilla in the room, Rev. Jackson's 12 year old daughter born outside of his marriage.

He is certainly NOT the pillar of morality in the Black Community and that may have something to do with why his son responded the way he did as well. Undoubtedly his MISTRESS and their illegitimate child sent shock waves through the Jackson family just as it did the Black Community back in 1995/96.

Trust me, know one has been listening to Rev. Jackson or taken him seriously since then. This just makes those of us supporting Senator Obama more determined than ever to see him succeed.

As the divorced mother of two daughters who got no child support, I think the Senator's remarks to "Black Fathers" about taking more responsbility was "DEAD ON".

Jackson needs to go sit down. His time and relevance have long past.

Jackson has nothing to apologize for. The Reverend was part of the Civik Rights movement and went through all the hardships real descendants of American slaves had to face.
Obama? His father was from Africa. His ancestry doesn't actually include American slaves. He was never part of the Civil Rights movement. He's just exploiting race for his own purposes. He calls everyone disagreeing with him a 'racist.' He is bullying people and playing on their guilt. It's disgusting!

Jesse is so right that Barack is running the last leg of a 54 year marathon. Jesse did a lot of the heavy lifting – he was the Jackie Robinson of African Americans seeking high political office and he took the slings and arrows. He registered more democrats than any other person in history. He built the political infrastructure in the south that Obama is using right now to get black votes. He was the one who started the idea of a "rainbow coaltion", a quilt of many colors, he fought "The Poor People's Campaign," went to Appalachia, had the support of the unions, marched on picket lines, got hostages released, I am not even going into his work with King during that era. He is a giant in the Civil Rights Movement, and he deserves respect. He was ridiculed, marginalized and scapegoated but he fought on. I think that news organizations should cut him the slack they cut other politicians who have very salty vocabularies, but we never hear them. I regret what he said, but it is nothing in comparison to his great work for this country. I would expect that Senator Obama, more than accepting his apology, would honor him specifically. Because if he had not run, twice, Obama would not be where he is today. Period.
