Come on land of the free and home of the brave don't let these Republican nutcases continue to destroy our country and sell it off to fatcat foreigners.

Maybe you don't like or trust Obama for whatever reason but when is enough enough?

Totally pandering and selling out to the neocon wing to get the nomination.

"Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" sung to the Beach Boy's Barbra Ann.

Daily flip/flops particularly on the stances that made his "maverick" reputation.

A bunch of gimmicky ideas to supposedly address real problems.

The "Smokin' out the Iranians program", which expressed a desire to kill the citizens under an evil regime, rather than seeing their government as the enemy.

and now

The economic issues are mental. AKA "There's nothing to see here, move along".

WE CANNOT AFFORD TO ELECT MCCAIN NOR CAN WE ALLOW THESE INGRATES TO CONTINUE TO SCUTTLE THE NATION!!!

If Obama does absolutely nothing, it will be a marked improvement over what we've seen the last 7-8 years or can possibly dream of under Pander B. McSame.

I never thought it could be true but is McCain actually potentially even worse than Dubbya? I'm shocked and disgusted at the possibility.

This is a nation of whiners. Problem is nobody likes to hear the truth when its not appealing. But more importantly, I'm tired of hearing this is not a "mental" recession. Indeed, it is a "mental" recession because it was mental FEAR that drove away the capital markets pulling out of mortgage backed securities and causing illiquitidy in the market. It is a real recession with real problems brought on by "mental" FEAR and that is the message, FEAR. The message is not that this recession is all in our head. It's real no doubt, brought on by mental FEAR.

In all the years I have been watching CNN, and it goes back a long time, I have never seen so much advertising for one probram, Black In America. Is CNN paying for the advertising or it it being paid by someone else. I probably will not get an answer, but I was just curious. It's just unbelievable.

Ok McCain, explain this to me. Phil Gramm is hired by you for his expertise. So how can you claim he doesn't speak for you? He is responsible for your policy you nit. And your "professional" expert has called everyone struggling to meet bills and feed themselves "whiners" who suffer from mental recession. Ok, so who does he speak for? He's your hand picked pro Johnnie Boy.

But Phil Gramm is his chief economic advisor!!! This is insane. Is McCain going to say that his Defense Secretary or his Secretary of State doesn't speak for him when something goes wrong? Or his Attorney General? The truth is, advisors are interpreted as speaking for the candidate!

I will be distinctly angry if the press and/or the public lets this outrageous statement go, especially after the mileage Obama's opponents got out the misconstrued, out-of-context "bitter" voters remarks.

UNLIKE OBAMA'S COMMENTS:

1. This was not taken out of context as part of some hatchet job by a political opponent: this appeared in the Washington Times--perhaps the single most conservative newspaper in the country. (For this reason, Gramm's attempt to "clarify" his comments that he meant the leadership, rather than the people, is COMPLETELY BOGUS!!)

2. Phil Gramm cannot claim to speak only for himself. He is recognized as a senior adviser on economic and other domestic advisor to McCain. He doesn't go "off the clock" during a political campaign. I will be outrageous if McCain escapes taking the full brunt of the impact of this remark.

This is simply proof positive that the Repubs generally, and the McCain camp in particular, are completely out of touch with the public.

I just hope that there is at least audio and, hopefully, video of this interview. If so, then (without any hyperbole) McCain is toast

The problem is when McCain does not do a very good job of talking for him self and often when he does he ends up looking stupid. Maybe he should find someone to speak for him that has a better hand on the pulse of reality and the needs of Americans.

yo "truth hurts".... gramm did two things, called us a nation of whinners, which you acknowledge that people are doing that (i agree) and then gramm discounts all that is wrong. SO people whine (which, by the way is what envronmental lobbiest's do best) and carry on because that's all these frumps understand. the value of good judgement isn't doing what is good for the people anymore, the value is in how much money somebody lines their pockets with or how loud they whine, because if you quiet a whinner, you get votes. Gramm should go away and bake cookies. McCain should step down and apologise for wasting our time. obama should bow toward mecca and we should put ANYONE but one of these two in office.

Harrison Ford played the president pretty good in Air Force One. Let's ask him!

Wait. isn't this the same man who's campaign came out after wesley clark and blamed Obama saying that if Obama could not control his "people" then how would he control the country? Truer words have NEVER been spoken....but ihm...they should have been used to refer to Mccain. he changes every few minutes. The same thing is being done as what happened with Obama but since it's his campaign, then there should be no problem. smh Idiot!

You Obamites are so predictable: "senility", "alzheimer moment", the list goes on. You are a pathetic bunch of name-calling twits, led by your head-whiner. Obama only has experience in mocking and belittling the ideas of others. Yet he never offers any concrete ideas. Empty suit, empty head.

No, Joe Lieberman speaks for you when he stands behind you whispering corrections into your ear as you screw up over and over.

Face it, you are too old for this job. You can't even remember what you voted for and didn't vote for, how can you possibly protect this country?

I am a bit offended at how quickly we have seemed to move away from this issue and how we are seemingly accepting Gramm's explanation and McCain's repudiation as authentic without even the least amount of scrutiny yet there are STILL articles being written about General Clark's and Reverand Jackson's comments, two men that do NOT work as advisers to Obama's campaign. How are people supposed to make an honest choice in the election without honest coverage? Either cover the surrogates "missteps" equally and honestly, or don't cover them at all!

Here's what everyone's missing: Phil Gramm is right. We're not in a recession. The economy is flat. It happens. This generation knows nothing about hardship or sacrifice. These days, the instant something mildly adverse happens, everyone whines that the government should fix all of our problems.

John Mccain - I don't know much about the economy.

Phil Graham - All the economic hardships (4 - soon 5 dollar gas) foreclorues, job loss, etc. It's all in the mind, Americans are delusional.

And this is still a race?

We deserve these guys, we might just have another 4-8 years of Bush!

So, exactly what is Obama's plan then? So far the only thing I could gather about his solution to the economy is 'whine, whine, whine' and of course 'blame republicans.'

THIS OLD GRANDPA JOHN McCAIN, IS ALREADY PROVING THAT HE IS WORSE THAN DISASTER GEORGE BUSH.
BEST ADVICE FOR OLD MAN JOHN McCAIN, JUST JOIN IDIOT GEORGE BUSH, WHO PUT AMERICAN IN CURRENT DISASTER, AND RETIRE WITH HIM ANYWHERE YOU LIKE.
YOU BOTH DESERVE EACH OTHER. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY AMERICA CAN BE SAVED.

What do you mean he doesn't speak for you??? HE'S YOUR ECONOMIC ADVISOR!!!

He was HIRED to speak for you and to write your economic policy! Not only hired, but he is the LEAD of your economic advisors. The LEAD of your economic advisory team, who DOES speak for you, just said that the recession is in our HEADS and we should stop WHINING!!!

So the LEAD of your team for the BIGGEST issue concerning America today just told America to SHUT UP!?! This should be as big a story as Obama's pastor! This is McCain's LEAD ECONOMIC ADVISOR for crying out loud! He's the one who will be telling McCain all he needs to know about the economy since McCain has already admitted he doesn't know much!!!
