Obama almost forgets Clinton

At a joint Wednesday fundraiser, Clinton nearly slipped Obama’s mind.
At a joint Wednesday fundraiser, Clinton nearly slipped Obama’s mind.

NEW YORK (CNN) – It was announced last week that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton would attend a series of fundraisers in New York together, one to help pay down her campaign debt and the rest to help raise money for his White House bid.

But a busy day in the Senate delayed Obama in Washington, forcing him to combine two events into one where he was supposed to ask donors to help Clinton as well as contribute to his campaign.

Wednesday night, he praised Clinton as “extraordinary” and “tough” - but nearly forgot about her need for funds.

After wrapping up his speech to donors Wednesday evening with an emphatic, “We will change the world!”, Obama left the stage to loud music, only to re-appear minutes later to complete his duties.

“Hold on a second guys, I was getting all carried away. I’ve got one more thing that is important to do,” Obama said to a laughing audience. “Senator Clinton still has some debt. And I could have had some debt if I hadn’t won so I know the drill.”

He then asked donors to contribute to Clinton on the pledge cards under their seats, calling it “part of the process of making sure that we are unified moving forward.”

“That is very important to us, and obviously Senator Clinton would be grateful as well,” he added.

Clinton ended her campaign more than $20 million in debt. More than half of that is her own money, which she lent her campaign during the primaries but is not looking to recoup.

This clown seems to get "carried away" an awful lot with his own self-concieved importance, doesn't he? That's not a very good indication of how he may act as a President. America had better wake up pretty soon and realize exactly what this charlatan is up to.

Why is this news, I'm so sick of CNN being biased, You know Obama doesn't have to help Hillary with her debt, she put herself in this situation, Mrs Clinton should have gotten out of the race when it was mathematically impossible for her to win, CNN is still obessed with this women and any negative news towards obama. Please give the Obama bashing a rest today, and reported real news.

Hey HRC? What were you thinking extending your campaign and knowing very well you couldn't have won? The numbers weren't on your favor yet u persued a lost couse. I mean, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?? Or you wanted to portray your fighting spirit to americans? Good for you but look at the outcome..Debts and more debts for us to clear. Forget it! Not my donation! Go Obama!!

He is asking the hi rollers to contribute. I no matter what the bank account, wouldn't give her a dime. His attention should be on his own effords to win the nomination. She wants to help Obama and the democratic party, then pay her own bills. $109m she has in her possession and she is asking him to pay her debt. Disgusting Clintons.

Obama does anything and says anything to win. He only cares about himself and his ego. He flip-flops all the time. He is doing exactly what he accused Hillary of doing. He is a dirty politician with a cover.

Not a big deal. At least he did remember, and was charming when he got back on the stage. Clinton fans should be thrilled he is doing something which is more than a lot of her 18,000,000 supporters do. If she got $1.00 from each one of them, she would be in great shape. How about it Conton supporters? Put your money where your mouth was.

Do you want to see how much I'm in debt Senator Obama? And I'm not asking you for a hand out. (Like gabillions of other Americans arent either) We just want you to do your job. You say you offer CHANGE now you want to feed the hand that bites you. WELL CHANGE THE SYSTEM and let these old timers go hang where they truly belong. Or are you just keeping them in place cause your plan is to be part of it, nothing new!! I'm getting more and more suspicious of the Obama machine nowadays and would never, ever, vote for any ticket w/a Clinton on it.

I was watching that fund raiser, CNN you're stretching it by claiming he was gone for minutes, he barely got off the stage. He reacted to the music that started immediately after his speech.

Anybody who watched it (and wasn't trying to stir up reaction for their own benefit) would know that he did get caught up to the immediate playing of the music.

Point his, he has teamed up with Hillary and has raised 25% of the money needed to clear up her debt in less than 24 hours.

It was great that Senator Obama came back to make that statement. Please, as democrats we all should unite. As Senator Obama's supporters, we all should join together with Senator Clinton's supporters to pay off Senator Clinton's debts. It is time that as democrats that we see that the debts are paid.

Senator Obama and Senatorr Clinton's supporters, we are all democrats, we believe in the same policies.

    Thanks to you all.

    Again... NOT NEWS!!

You people in the media continue to nit-pick at nonsensical, and irrelivent pips on the political stage.

Had he not shown up, THAT might be news worthy.

Seriously, what is the purpose of this, don't elevate this sort of insiginificant information to the level of the rest of the majority of your other Ticker reports that are ACTUALLY important for the people to know.

When FISA was going down yesterday, Senator Clinton didn't remember to stand by Obama and support his vote, and party unity doesn't include paying off her personal debt. To focus on Clinton need rather than that of struggling Americans clearly illustrates misguided priorities.

The Demicratc party and Obama expect Hillary and Bill to campaign hard for Obama and get her donars to give him money yet at an event that was supposed to help her pay off her dept he forgets and has to come back on stage quickly to ask his people to donate to her.
Pathetic. Shows he is only about himself.
Hillary ows nothing to her party or Obama.
She has done more than she needs to.
She can now tell her party she has done her job and sit on the side and watch him loose in November.
She can then run in 20012 with a clear concience

so this story is more important than Iran, the economy, and healthcare? The media is looking to be the next great drama show I guess. The media is missing the dems fighting each other. They get little excitement from Mccsame posts I guess...... so lets nit pick Obama and Clinton stories and let Mcmakesmesosleepy hide his flaws that actually affect the american people. Mccain has BAGGAGE but yet the media spins everything the dems do.... crazy times "my friends"

When FISA was going down yesterday, Senator Clinton didn't remember to stand by Obama and support his vote, and there are too many important issues at stake for him to dedicate more time to helping her raise funds. Anyone who forgets the bigger picture, Clinton included, clearly has misguided priorities.
