Outside her Bel-Air home, Nancy Reagan stood arm in arm with John McCain and offered a significant - but less than exuberant - endorsement.
"Ronnie and I always waited until everything was decided, and then we endorsed," the Republican matriarch said in March. "Well, obviously this is the nominee of the party." They were the only words she would speak during the five-minute photo op.
In a written statement, she described McCain as "a good friend for over 30 years." But that friendship was strained in the late 1970s by McCain's decision to divorce his first wife, Carol, who was particularly close to the Reagans, and within weeks marry Cindy Hensley, the young heiress to a lucrative Arizona beer distributorship.

McCain is a mysogonist dog! It is fine for insurance companies to pay for viagra, but not birth control, he wants to repeal Roe v. Wade, he votes against equality for women, and comments that his injured wife 'was not the same woman' he married! Was he the same man after being a POW for 5 years, probably not quite.
Then there is the theory of killing Iranians with cigarettes, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran – threats of which can cause oil speculated prices to rise, forgetfulness about how he votes on important issues, using an economic advisor who thinks we are a bunch of winers and the bad economy is in our head – all in less than a week!!
Why isn't the media all over these stories?? One blurb here and there, then on to a half hour discussion about Jesse Jackson's comments about Obama. Just pathetic...
I am against all this flagrant use of sound-bites to stir controversy among voters just to increase ratings. This presidential race is the most important one since I've been able to vote and I am worried people will not hear the correct facts and make decisions based on these sound bites.
I realize the dumb so-called reality shows (most of which are also rigged to produce controversy) are very popular, but please, do not dumb down the news! Voters need correct information, and more of it regarding the issues, to make informed choices. I have had to teach myself to do a lot of journalistic research to get correct information, which is the job of the media, but many others are not willing to take the time to do that. Please CNN, don't let us down just because you are owned by a big company that is part of the economic problems of this nation!
