"You know, you might not agree with his politics, but the one thing that you can't argue with is that Tony Snow was really a tremendously decent human being," CNN "American Morning" host John Roberts said.

I feel sorry for his family's loss. However, after his appearance on Bill Maher's show last year where he said the economy is stronger than ever, flippantly dismissed American casualties in Iraq and berated a guest for questioning the numerous excuses the Bush administration gave us for going to war, I think he may have some explaining of his own to do.

I am far from a conservative, and even though I disagreed with him politically, I always respected how he would respectably debate and discuss the issues, instead of dumbing down the conversation, yelling over top of people or acting like a horses a.. like limbaugh, hannity and others. he will be missed. RIP.

Why do people have to bring politics into a situation like death? I guess I'm too busy praying for him and his family.

Russert and Snow – What a Tremendous Loss to the USA and the world. Their worth = Priceless!!

William, from Cali!   July 12th, 2008 3:06 pm ET

I'm sure, he's in a "better place"; anywhere, would be better than what's happening on or to planet Earth, these days. "To be absent from the body; is to be present with the Lord." Amen, brother! RIP..........

May God Bless Tony & his family – he will be missed.

I have been a strong admirer of Tony Snow. It is difficult to find such journalists in today's world. May I submit my heartfelt condolences to his family. We will all miss you.

My thoughts are with his family. After all, they weren't the liars who enabled Bush to commit war crimes.

This guy lied through his teeth for the Bush regime. May he be able to rest in peace.

Brendan H., San Antonio, TX   July 12th, 2008 2:39 pm ET

My sympathies to his family, but Tony Snow was a hack for the Bush Administration, and nothing will change that.

He started his antics on Faux News, and that's what made him "perfect" to succeed Scott McClelland.

David   July 12th, 2008 2:20 pm ET

I'm a liberal guy, and while I disagreed strongly with much of what Tony often said, I still respect the guy for getting up every morning and going to work at a horribly unpopular job. Regardless of what administration is in the White House, it's no fun being the Press Secretary.

It upsets me that so many people, both Republicans and Democrats, don't take the time to give some respect to the opposing side where respect is due. I'm not suggesting that Bush should have respect...he hasn't earned it. But in my book, Tony Snow has earned my respect as a good-hearted, courageous man.

God Speed, Tony.

John, Brooklyn, NY   July 12th, 2008 2:13 pm ET

Tony Snow was at the center of every major effort of the Bush White House to mislead the public on major events from illegal wire tapping to the false threat of Iraq. Whether he was directly involved with the creation of the false information, he also never resigned his position because of ethics concerns once those falsehoods came to light. His integrity was, at best, questionable.

That having been said, my thoughts and prayers are with him, his family, and his loved ones.

david   July 12th, 2008 2:13 pm ET

MR SNOW WAS A GOOD HONEST GUY BUT WHEN YOU WORK WITH BUSH AND CHENEY PEOPLE WILL NEVER SEE THE KIND OF A GUY YOU ARE .

Our prayers & thoughts go out to his family. I lost my Dad to cancer when he was 53.

You had to like Tony whether you like what he said or not. He had a very approachable and warm personality with everyone during his press conferences which I had never seen in any other White House press representative and will probably never experience again. I was truly looking forward to his appearances on CNN. God Bless.

Prayers go up for the Snow family. The world has lost two great journalist and they will be missed

Newsdiva   July 12th, 2008 1:49 pm ET

Tony Snow was probably a very decent, loving person. However, it doesn't negate the lies he told for that clown in the oval office & he did it with a straight face no less. I suspect he had, in the immortal words of Ricky Ricardo on "I Love Lucy," some 'splaining to do at the pearly gates.

kelly WI   July 12th, 2008 1:49 pm ET

Even CNN says he's a nice honest guy!!! Shocked.
Its really too bad. He was a wonderful person.

Brian   July 12th, 2008 1:48 pm ET

Snow was a good man..... he should have worked for better people.

RJB   July 12th, 2008 1:45 pm ET

The job was the kind that made you the fall guy. Tony always made me feel better with what he said even if I disagreed with the statement.
Thanks Tony you did well

Thomas   July 12th, 2008 1:38 pm ET

I did not agree with Mr. Snow much. I had very little respect for him professionally. He sacrificed his journalistic ethics to become a professional spin artist for the administration.

Politics and ethics aside, he was a human being. I am sorry for his family. I hope that when Mr. Snow died, he went with little pain and a little dignity.

I hope his family can get though these terrible times and press on with their lives.

Brian G, Sugar Land, TX   July 12th, 2008 1:21 pm ET

Snow was a good journalist who turn mercenary when he accepted the White House Spokesperson job.

After that date, Snow became only a political mouthpiece for an enormous amount of propaganda. HIs credibility became highly debateable, and by deduction is integrity.

He died, and my respect for him died on that day, not yesterday.

Susan   July 12th, 2008 1:19 pm ET

He was a gentleman. Condolences to his family.

DIY   July 12th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

I admired Tony very much for the way he worked through his illness. It seemed that he was determined to savor every moment. My prayers go out to his family.

"Bob Stephens", shame on you for your antagonistic comment. This is not the time for such words. I wonder how many people will show up at your funeral....

J   July 12th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Lying does not make a person "decent". He seemed like a nice enough guy, likable, but I'm tired of people sanitizing someone's life once they are gone. We ALL have to face the truth about what we do and the way we live our lives.

Ben (Eugene, OR)   July 12th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

The world is a darker place without him. It is sad to see such a good man die so young. He will be missed greatly.

Nancy   July 12th, 2008 12:54 pm ET

Bob, I wonder what they'll say about you when you're dead? Have some respect for him and his grieving family.

Will, NJ   July 12th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

Is this the Bush Administration's retirement plan or are they just making sure he didn't write a book too?

Connie   July 12th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

Please bloggers lets forget about politics and think about only his family and friends today. I only wish I were a little birdie in Heaven today , when Tony was met by Tim Russert, what they are talking about. Now I bet politics were on their minds. My Prayers and thoughts are with Tony's family and friends. may God watch over all of them.

God Bless , Connie from Indiana

Rest in peace Tony.

JIM   July 12th, 2008 12:30 pm ET

He was a great American, a great journalist, and a great political commentator that I will miss just as I miss Tim Russert. These two men will never be forgotten.

Joe Reed   July 12th, 2008 12:30 pm ET

Good riddance.

Randy of Cleveland   July 12th, 2008 12:29 pm ET

I am a democrat through and through, but it's undeniable Tony was a good american. God bless him.

former HRC Supporter now McCain Supporter   July 12th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

unlike Scott McCellan, Snow was calm, cool and collected, even when he was asked hard questions, some of which he couldn't answer.

Now that was a TRUE White House Press Secretary!

whiner   July 12th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

am praying for your family.you would have been a better democrat than you were a republican.they failed your good name.

Chrissy, TX   July 12th, 2008 12:04 pm ET

God bless his soul. He is finally free and is with his lord and savior. He will greatly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are will his family.

Independant Thinker   July 12th, 2008 11:53 am ET

He was a good , honest man, despite how many names the democRATs called him.

Bob Stephens   July 12th, 2008 11:45 am ET

Tony had a way of twisting the facts to fit the answer that he wanted you to hear.
