Although it could be said the past 8 years have caused some terrible circumstances throughout the world it has also provided the world with a lot of humour on a regular basis via email jokes and newspaper and magazine cartoons.

Just today I got an email to the following effect:

President John McCain was sitting in his office reading the morning newspaper and saw the headlines "250 Brazillians Killed In A Road Side Bombing".

Just then McCain's financial guru and top economic adviser Phil Gramm came into the oval office and saw a dejected looking McCain so he asked, "Mr. President you look so sad can I be of any help?".
President McCain replied, "Yes Phil could you tell me how many whiners are there in a Brazillian?"

I think that should read, Candidates pander to crucial voting blocs. I'm just so sick of both parties.

We saw what happened when Republicans controlled both the Executive and Legislative branches. Now all the lobbyists and many corporations are donating to the Democrats. I'm sure it won't be long before we kick them out and start the cycle all over.

If some conservative base of the current administration is with Obama, McCain will have same trouble as Hillary had. But McCain/Hillary is unbeatable.

All the candidates may need to reconsider their plans because no one predicted the Hillary coalition effect. Somebody underestimated ( and treated badly) the Hillary base.

These are two good patriotic men who care about their country and want to do what is best for all of us not just specific voting blocks. They are different in their approaches and strategies. I worry about the toll this war debt has had on our economy and my fear is that McCain's philosophy will drive us into an expanded war with Iran and even Pakistan. Great civilizations like Rome and former great powers like Japan all fell when their leaders pushed them into greater wars. Our military is so stretched now and with the weakened dollar, oil, and other economic woes its hard for me not to see this war mongering and poor economy as connected. When you come from a lot of money, versus having to earn it, you may not realize what is going on out here with the food and gas prices and so much job loss much of it related to Bush's breaks for off shoring US jobs to foreign countries.

What Obama needs is for John McCain to get out into the public light a little more and let the voters see him in action.

People just relying on news medias for information will never get the true picture of what McCain is like as they barely cover any of regular faux pas and focus mainly on discrediting Obama regardless of how ridiculous and far reaching the story may be.

There are a certain percentage of people who like the war mongering and talk of killing and more killing but I think November will show this will be a very small part of the U.S. electorate.

Immigration reform is not only for Latinos. It is for other ethnic groups as well and is very important to the country. In late 90's there was an article in Times magazine that wrote about the census. I have not heard or read Obama to suggest a constructive plan. McCain has stayed on course with his economic plan which I believe will become clearer as we near towards election day. McCain must explain why immigration is important to his economic plan. And we will be right on track people.

When are we going to get some actual debates going? I thought Barack agreed to some debates (or at least one) with McCain about a month ago. Now I haven't heard anything more about any debates. Are the debates going to take place in the form of TV commercials and pundit opinions on the news? Or will Barack actually agree to meet McCain face to face – preferably more than once and not on a national holiday (July 4th is what Barack wanted to use) when no one is watching TV. What is he so afraid of? It's a presidential election. We, the people, have a right (and obligation!) to hear the two candidates positions on the important topics of the day. And not just 60 second sound bites with no possible response from the other candidate. C'mon Barack, quit hiding!

candidates reaching out to demographics are stupid racial profilers. How do you reach out to a race? Give me a break. This is america. I am not a product of my race, I am an individual. If I followed my racial line I'd be a salsa dancing redneck, with gloria estefan in one ear and garth brooks in the other. I wish everyone would realize that abstract blobs are not key to winning individuals. I know black people into death metal and white people into tupac. Most people aren't molded by their demographics, and the ones that are are usually thought of as silly. We are all individuals and no matter how you cut it, one person is radically different from the next, even those related by blood. The fact that candidates are on a mission to win these demographics just shows how out of touch and naive they are. Cooper and Sanchez have gone out of their way to bring the race issue back into the presidential race again and again. I had more sophisticated political talk in the fifth grade. For this they are truly dispicable reporters. They have ruined what should always be the only focus on this election: the real issues that face america. Linda you are full of crap. I live in Arizona and have family in Texas. Both of those states are in the McCain camp. We will not vote for Obama. Until Obama serves one day in the military he will not get our votes. Patriotism is more than a flag on your lapel which he refused to wear until called attention to it, It is serving your country in the battlefield, willing to give up your life to protect our ideals and spread freedom for all people. It is loyalty to the United States of America and not any foreign nation.

Obama will not get our votes and all the liberal Hispanic organizations combined wil not sway us to vote for him.

Mcain keeps losing potential voters due to the republicans own policies. The less rich white people there are, the less republicans there are as well. So, now he has to fine rich non white voters. Also a diminishing group.

Pigmentation of ones skin doesn't make you a different race. There is only one, the human race.

While I am sure that everyone is excited to see the specifics of your "scientific" polling data, asking the three Latinos that you know in Boca Raton who they are voting for does not make you an authority on the Hispanic voting bloc in the United States.

Additionally, a "re count" happens during an election, not during polling.

Finally, if you actually took the time to consider the opinions and concerns of Latinos across the country, you would find that 2 out of 3 Latinos do in fact support Obama for President.

Jan, what are the major issues in this election according to the Latinos that you took it upon yourself to speak to?
