Ventura may run for Senate.
Ventura may run for Senate.

(CNN) — Will he or won’t he?

Former Minnesota Governor and professional wrestler Jesse Ventura is expected to announce Monday night on CNN’s Larry King Live whether he’ll run for his state’s U.S. Senate seat. Ventura’s deadline to file to run for the senate is Tuesday.

If Ventura jumps into the race and runs as an Independent, the battle for Republican incumbent Norm Coleman’s seat would become a three ring circus. Democrat Al Franken, a former comedian and liberal talk show host, has already filed.

Coleman was first elected in 2002 and is running for his second term. The Democrats are targeting Coleman and hope to win back the seat that was once held by Democrat Paul Wellstone, who was killed in a plane crash while running for re-election in 2002.

Ventura ran for governor of Minnesota as an Independent in 1998, winning a three way race. Coleman was the Republican candidate in that race, losing to Ventura by about 50,000 votes. After what many people in Minnesota describe as a difficult four years in office, Ventura decided not to run for re-election.

He has hinted lately that he might jump into the Senate race. If he does enter the campaign, the question is whether he can win, and if not, which other candidate does he harm more?

Other candidates over the years have made Larry King Live their program of choice when announcing a major run for office. Larry King Live runs at 9 p.m. ET.

He would be a breath of fresh air in the senate. I don't think he can pull it off, unfortunately. He did in '98 though, so we shall see!

Jess Ventura only cares about himself. Look how rediculous this man looks and he wants to be a US Senator?? What a joke!!! I think he has taken to many blows to the head. What other reason would he have for shaking his head so much when he talks. That man's a self centered dingbat!

Dru I.   July 14th, 2008 11:24 am ET

While I understand some people's distaste for Jesse, he was a breath of fresh air in MN politics. Just having a viable choice that wasn't a Rep/Dem on the ticket encouraged a great deal of my colleagues to get off their lazy collective backends and vote.

Even if people are only motivated to vote to keep him *out* of office, at least they're motivated.

Me? I'll vote for him, because Coleman is a bad choice, and Franken hasn't convinced me he's any better. He's been willing to call a spade a spade, even if it did look like he was digging his own grave with it. The gov't seats are held by people too cowardly to say what they really think, for fear of losing their jobs or offending "public sensibility". it's time to clean that garbage up - yes, even if it means having a non-genius in office.

dear lord, the last thing we need is Jesse running again. He was a lousy governor, and would be a worse senator.

I am voting for Franken simply because he isn't Colemon. Good ol Norm never did anything but lick Bush butt. Him and Pawlenty need to GO. I cannot abide lick spittles and Norm is nothing but.

and why does anyone not from MN care… some of you people just need to go get yourselves a life. You know, where you leave the house and meet people that are not behind a computer screen.

Ventrua's a Nut. We don't want or need a short tempered, ill educated conspiracy theorist who is a patholigcial liar in in the Senate. Not that he'd be much different than many of the other patholigical liars in the senate, it's just he would be representing my state. He hasn't lived here for the most part in the last 6 years. What makes him think he represents MN. Snowbirds fly south for the winter not east.

James Carville   July 14th, 2008 10:53 am ET

FYI, Both Ventura and Franken have one thing in common:

They are both former wrestlers.

James Carville   July 14th, 2008 10:52 am ET

After a disasterous 4 years as Governor, it is clear that Minnesota has no love for Jesse Ventura, and would not elect him dog-catcher, much less Senator for his State (arguably a much more important position than Governor, anyway).

So unelss Ventura is as deluded as Nader, the only reason he would run is as a spoiler in the race.

Al Franken's campaign has yet to take hold, perhaps because the people of Minnesota are wary of celebrity actor candidates after the Ventura debacle. At the present time, it looks like Norm Coleman will narrowly defeat Franken in the fall, despite Franken's increasingly desperate and vicious attacks on Coleman.

It would benefit Franken if some Coleman voters could be peeled off, as it might give Franken a narrow margin of victory.

Clearly, the Franken people are funding Ventura and persuading him to run.

This should give the people of Minnesota an idea of the type of man Al Franken is (in addition to being a closet homophobe).

Dr.No   July 14th, 2008 10:51 am ET

not a good year for you, jesse.as an independent,i know that the best way to start solving our problems, will be a full boat of democrats in congress and a dem pres. obama.getting as many republicans out of office as possible,is job 1,if we want a working government.you said yourself, you only want in to stir things up.we dont need that ,at this time.we need cooperation in our government, not grid-lock.why dont you take over for dog the bounty hunter ,or something like that.

Jeffrey Alan   July 14th, 2008 10:44 am ET

It's too bad he won't run for President because the US needs an independent leader who won't be a puppet for the corporations and really "big" money. Unfortunately many voters in the US think there is a difference between Democrats and Republicans. Pretty sad………as your soldiers and kids will be in the middle east for the next 20 years bankrupting your country all because of 16 boxcutters. When will the average Joe in the US finally wake up and start asking a few more questions instead of being told what to think. Not to worry though because I'm sure a new study will come up that will support taking a new pill that will enable Americans to use their brains again and doctors for the pharmaceutical industry will recommend starting you on it when your 4 years old.

Venture might as well run for the senate for minnesota. This state has been over run by nut jobs far left. They have already elected muslims in the state. Look at the idiot he is running against, Al Franken. The good people in minnesota need to turn out and vote and take their state back from the far left. To anybody intelligent this state has become the laughing stock of the country. California still edges them out with the nut cases in office though.

Donna in ID   July 14th, 2008 10:38 am ET

osage   July 14th, 2008 10:37 am ET

This is what Democracy is about. We all have our preference, but I'm a firm believer in genuine competition as a means for keeping all politicians as honest and as responsive to the will of the people they represent as possible. Jesse Ventura can't be any worse than George W. Bush or any number of men and women currently acting too much like politicians and too little like public servants.

Janice   July 14th, 2008 10:30 am ET

Ventura's only reason for running for Senate is to help him make money for himself in the long run. He's said as much. His "ride" on his stint as governor is starting to run out of steam - that's all.

He'd be announcing his run for Senate on the state Capitol grounds or in his hometown in Minnesota - and not on Larry King if he cared about the state. You know who first refused to take the state budget (when there was a surplus) and invest it in transportation repairs - Jesse. Things went downhill faster when Jesse left office with Pawlenty coming in - but the neglect of the state started with Jesse.

Whether you agree with Franken or Coleman - at least in their own way they may care about the state of Minnesota - although with Coleman I personally have my doubts.

Jesse cares only about his entertainment value, his ego, and his standing invitation to appear on Larry King.

v   July 14th, 2008 10:27 am ET

Didn't Bush give us bribe money in the form of rebates? Money that is sorely missed now?

He had a difficult time as Gov because both political parties turned against him in favor of saving their own arses. An independent, is the threat to both parties and surely will get them to work together until they can oust em and then it's back to politics as usual for both the dems and repubs.

He has good ideas if one listens. The reason congress is broken is because it's beholden to business wishes. They essentially buy our representives vote in their favor. There has to be a balance between serving the people and serving business and right now it's not happening. Take the money out of politics or we will destroy ourselves.

Go Jesse   July 14th, 2008 10:27 am ET

Jesse you should run for president and Texas Trail Dog as VP

Mike M.Majmundar   July 14th, 2008 10:22 am ET

I don't understand why CNN or any other News Organizations give this man such a visibility. In my opinion he is a useless individual with no principle except criticizing anything and everything. I think he became Governor by fluke and has no place in any decision making position.

Joe - Chicago, IL   July 14th, 2008 10:20 am ET

This has the makings of a cheesy joke.

But hey, at least it wont be as bad as California's Govonor's election.

dave g, Minneapolis   July 14th, 2008 10:17 am ET

Of course, he is not going to run.
He'll spend the hour talking about his new book, and at the end of the interview say that he has an important announcement. "I am NOT running, I don't want to be part of the goonery politics that America has become and will return to Mexico."

Or, he'll file the paperwork and spend the next few months scaring Franken and Coleman and laughing all the way home.

Jesse is and idiot. And FDR was too, during his term he and his cronies knowingly allowed Pearl Harbor to be bommed by the Japs because they wanted to get us in the war and they knew that this was the only way that the American people would get totally behind the war effort. Ronald Regan instilled the American sprit in most all of us. Jobs were created and our hostages were freed. He also re-built our military and by the way we are still reaping the benefits of his two terms in office. The only thing Bill gave us was giving away our jobs to outher countries in South America and Mexico, (NAFTA). And, yes we are still paying for that too. Our borders were wide open and he also had a chance to capture bin Laden but would not act upon this chance. And Bill doesn't even know what sexual relations are even though he had been, and probably still is, having them with other women since he was gov. So Jesse will not be elected Senator from Mn nor should he be, but I'll leave that up to the good people of Mn. It's ultimately their choice.

Peter   July 14th, 2008 9:48 am ET

Oh my god, did I see someone (John) put Ronald Regan in the same pantheon as Lincoln and Luther King, particular in regards for having substance and now just show. Wow. Ronald "Alzheimer's" Regan, a former actor, was about the most "all talk and no substance" President. Ever.

Mary B/   July 14th, 2008 9:44 am ET

Jesse wants to be the WHOLE SHOW!!!! The idea of him being one of 100 hundred senators and the low man on the totem pole …. his ego couldn't take that. Can you see him on some committee having to do with farm prices. Doesn't the senate have a dress code? Jesse doesn't.

And when left seen leaving Minnesota when he left office, he said he no longer speaks to the Minnesota media. How can he run for senate and not talk to any members of the Minnesota media. NOT!

And now Jesse can take himself back to Mexico and have a few margeritas and live happily ever after.

I lived next door to Jesse back in the day when he was running for mayor of Brooklyn Park, MN. If you think the Hogans are a dysfunctional mess, you should spend some time across the hedge from the Venturas. Let me state from my own personal experience that the man runs for office only to serve his own interests. Ran for mayor to get favorable zoning for his riverfront property. Ran for governor because he loved the attention and the profile boost that resulted in more cash coming in from WWF, personal appearances, etc. (his movie career had pretty much died by that time). He's fallen pretty far off the radar and needs a publicity boost, so he's going to cash-in on the circus that is Minnesota politics. Articulate and honest? Straight talk? Don't count on it

When he was governor, I remember him talking about when he realized that he couldn't just run his mouth whenever he wanted. He was one of the few politians that realized he was representing the people that elected. When was the last time you heard a candidate talk like that?

CollegeRepub@UA   July 14th, 2008 9:21 am ET

Can he win? Yes.

Will he win? Maybe.

Should he win? No.

I agree with everyone who said that politics is a popularity contest. It's a horrible part of politics, and I hope that someday we can move past our routine of voting for the facade, instead of the candidate.

dave g, Minneapolis   July 14th, 2008 9:17 am ET

Why is it that everyone that hates Jesse just says he ruined MN? while those that are neutral or supporters list the benefits that he brought to MN? While you may not like him, he opened the political dialog here and showed that a candidate that didn't fit into the standard parties could actually bring a new political message (fiscal conservatism AND social liberalism)?
I'm actually amazed that people in MN keep voting for the two parties. The strong Republican base in most of the state seems to be grounded in the idea of smaller government. The strong Liberal Democrat base in the Twin cities seems to be based on individual freedom like gay rights, abortion, etc. Why can't a third party candidate win on that platform? Social liberalism does not have to mean raising taxes…and smaller government does not have to also include restricting personal freedom (FISA).
Some good Libertarian candidates would do the country a whole lot of good right now…Not that Jesse is necessarily good OR libertarian.

I would be honored to vote for him a second time. As for my Presidential pick: "None of the above."

Thomas   July 14th, 2008 8:39 am ET

lol. Ventra was good for Minnesota, we've been a lot worse off since he left. He kind of made 40% of Minnesota upset because he didn't allow the hard core stuff from either party. There are still a significant number of people that didn't like either party, and still don't. A lot of us think our current governor is far worse than ventura.

I also think its funny that Al Franken is treated better than Ventura both were entertainers. Except AL Franken wasn't really funny.

Ventura might be able to win. Franken or Ventura would be far better than our current senator.

Larry WI   July 14th, 2008 8:28 am ET

I don't think Ace Ventura will hurt anyone but himself. He is a proven moron who did nothing but make a mockery of his position. Did he ever legalize prostitution in MN? He was hell bent on doing it, what a guy.

Maybe us folks here in Virginia will be fortunate enough to get Ric Flair to run for office.

Gene E   July 14th, 2008 8:22 am ET

Isn't it more than past time for this pathetic little man to vanish from public life? And why are CNN and Larry King promoting his efforts at great visability? I'd bet there aren't 500 people in the entire state of MN who want him to run or would vote for him. Exactly whom does he speak for???

Can't believe the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" has turned into the "Land of 10,000 FLAKES"! Seriously, "Golden Gophers" is the best you can do is send an ex-pro wrestler and lousy governor or a quasi comedian, Al Fanken, to represent you. From Hubert Humphrey and Walter Mondale, you've gone to a second rate nightclub act. These are serious times and demand serious candidates.

Tim   July 14th, 2008 8:11 am ET

Just a bunch of grandstanding. He said that he wouldn't make a public announcement and his actual filing would be the only notification. Wonder what changed his mind?

scotty   July 14th, 2008 8:09 am ET

Maybe if in senate he will legalize prostitution and Pot so the Goverment can tax them thats one of the many things he wanted to do here in MN. Maybe its time. and heck its one way to help this economy

Charlotte   July 14th, 2008 8:07 am ET

He is a muscle brain, with not much of a commitment to the job. He was lousy for Minnesota as Governor and would make a lousy Senator. People who even think about not voting in an election are stupid. We much do our civic duty and vote our conscience and hope we make the best choice. People who complain the most usually didn't even vote and thus lose their right to complain, in my opinion. I don't like Obama or McCain, so I will write Hillary on my ballot in November. It is my vote and I will cast it.

CAUTION ...SICK PERSON ON BOARD !!!!   July 14th, 2008 8:02 am ET

This country need Jesse Ventura spirit, thats a straight talk, and i know he is not like Obama, who by the way flip around his ideas to fit in to others. Jesse will do what he say he will do. I was hoping he will run for President of United State. I bet Jesse will win, taking Obama's flip and McCain age.

So Jesse runs let the voters decide.
They will know what he did did not do and what other candidates might be able to deliver on in the senate relevant to thier needs in Minnesota.
Its worth a tiny note buried somewhere in the middle of a newspaper and certinly not the top billing it gets on this web site.

Amazing, the moronic comments on here. People don't know a good thing when they see it.

FACT: Jesse beat Coleman before and can do it again.
FACT: Jesse didn't ruin the MN economy, the Demoncrats and Repulsivecons did it.
FACT: With Jesse you know where he stands. Just listen to him and read his books. With Coleman, you know where he flip-flops.
FACT: Franken is a joke in more ways than one.

Run, Jesse, and shake up these fools…again!

Chuck   July 14th, 2008 1:16 am ET

I have to agree with the responses to Johns post, although in a way I don't totally disagree with his point. John listed the Clintons, Obama, Ventura, & Arnold as "rock star" style candidates, and listed Reagan as someone he longed for - missing the irony that Reagan built his career as an actor. Just as big a problem with JOhn's post is that he fails to see that people like McCain & John Kerry use celebrity status (and large amounts of wealth) as war heroes to get into politics, too. while you can argue their records as politicians, you can't argue that they used public notoriety to succeed in politics. Frankly Hilary Clinton was the same thing - using her fame as a first lady to cherry pick a senate seat and launch a campaign for president. But if john was talking about Bill Clinton, I'm not sure how that's accurate - he built a record of public service. And Obama? How does he fit this description? It seems like he's a lifelong public servant with a gift for charismatic public speaking. He's educated and affluent, but worked in poor neighborhoods in Chicago. I don't know that I think he's going to be a great president or anything, and I undrestand people may disagree with his voting record, but it seems like he's the opposite of the kind of "rock star" polictian, and exaclty the type of politician this country has been searching for - hence his popularity.

Scott   July 14th, 2008 1:00 am ET

Matt, I think you may be on to something. Project that visual on the Senate floor. Jesse Ventura arrives on the floor, complete with those goofy pro-wrestler mask, tights, maybe a cape for good measure, then proceeds to debate by hitting others over the head with a chair.

…by Democrats, I mean PROGRESSIVE Democrats…

Brendan H., San Antonio, TX   July 14th, 2008 12:58 am ET

Personal to John:

Reagan?

You mean the guy who touched off the biggest deficit of all-time, continued by Bush, Sr. and then broken by Bush, Jr.?!?!?!?! They guy who can't "remember" anything? The guy who gave Hezbollah credibility when he ran from Beirut in '83?!?!

You're a big thinker, aren't you?!

And Lincoln? He freed the slaves but was against giving them civil rights?!

Are you the first to walk erect in your family?!

Vigla   July 14th, 2008 12:55 am ET

John, Old Ronnie boy didn't offer us anything either. He just helped sow the seeds for the problems we face today. Corporate greed, rich getting richer, every man for himself. That's the conservative mantra, you know…an unregulated, every man for himself wild west. In that environment, the rich can just keep on messing with the poor and make sure THEIR agenda goes through.

Last time ANY politician did anything of value for the average man was FDR…not old Ronnie boy. Now, we haven't had a real honest to goodness progressive as President since FDR because conservatives keep telling us they are scary and we believe them. I think they have had their chance since 1980. Since 1980, Democrats (not progressives mind you) held both congress and the Presidency only 2 years, 93 and 94. In those 2 years we got the only piece of legislation that was useful. The balanced budget act of 93 and it was successful despite Republican objection.

How about we give Democrats a chance for the first time in almost 30 years, huh?

xddy4u   July 14th, 2008 12:44 am ET

Ventura on Larry King's show? Like who cares what that nut does.
Now to something more interesting.
To John, who commented:
"The problem with politics as a whole is that people run because they are rock stars (Clintons, Obama, Jesse, Arnold…an on and on) and not because they have real solutions to problems."…..
"We need guys like Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, and Martin Luther King to come back ".
Fact:
Obama was as unknown to the American people at first. Now he's known world wide. He became an icon after he entered the race, not before it. Only Reagan was a household name (an icon) when he entered politices. Lincoln and Martin Luther King, like Obama were unknowns at the start of their campaign in national affairs. So John please get your facts straight. Speak out of knowledge and not out of anger.

Frustrated Minnesotan   July 14th, 2008 12:38 am ET

I grew up in Minnesota and now I live in Chicago, but I still vote in Minnesota. I chose to keep my legal residence in Minnesota so I could kick Norm Coleman out of office. If Jessie wins, I will officially no longer consider myself a Minnesotan and I will change my residence to Illinois. Jessie ruined the state 6 years ago, we cannot let him do that again!

Kyu Reisch, Radcliff, Kentucky   July 14th, 2008 12:28 am ET

John, you are the problem for our Country because you are blind and hatred. The Clintons are not rock stars, they dedicated their whole lives in politics and worked for our Country. Are you a stupid Republican or dishonest American? You didn't say anthing about Bush-Cheney, if you worry about our Country, isn't that funny? Did you vote for candidate who is the most qualified this year? I don't think so. Sorry, you will never have the real politician as long as you don't vote for the right candidate.

John   July 14th, 2008 12:28 am ET

I k now he is running as an independent, but Ventura is really a Republican, right? Him running will certainly cost more votes from Franken than from the incumbant.

Philly Abe   July 14th, 2008 12:24 am ET

John, I think it is funny that you cite Ronald Reagan as someone who needs to "come back from the grave and shake these shady characters who are running (ruining?) our country". I would argue that he is the original "Rock Star (a more fitting term would be "movie star") president.

Also, comparing Bonzo to Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King is laughable. Just because you were doing well in the 80's, doesn't mean he was a good president.

Back to the point of this 'Ticker' post, I think Minnesota and our country as a whole could benefit from having political diversity. If Jesse runs this year, I will send him money from Pennsylvania just because he is neither Elephant nor Donkey.

Marge Hibbing Mn   July 14th, 2008 12:21 am ET

Jesse Ventura will certainly mix up the pot if he jumps into the race. Can anyone imagine Ventura debating the likes of Harry Reid or John McCain or even Jim Webb (Webb vs. Ventura might even have people watching C-SPAN as they should). Also to John…look up Ron Paul and you might be surprised at what ideas/solutions he has proposed.

Kevin   July 14th, 2008 12:05 am ET

Maybe he'd pooch a few things, but what has GWB and Clinton done for us? Screwed up the global economy and trysts in the oval office. Forget the US Senate; Ventura as President would be a hoot. Then we could all have "My Leader can suplex Your Leader" bumper stickers.

Lee   July 13th, 2008 11:48 pm ET

I haven't seen a picture of Jesse lately. Looks like he's lost some weight. Being from Minnesota, I can't imagine why he's entering the race. He was an interesting governor, but not at all successful. For him, I think it's more about freshening up his image and keeping in the spotlight. This will generate some media coverage for him. I really don't think he stands a chance. Politics, for him, isn't any more real than pro wrestling. It's all showmanship.

John Huggens   July 13th, 2008 11:45 pm ET

John
If you check out Obama's website you will see solutions right there that he has for the problems you listed. Whether or not he will follow them, well, thats the risk you take when you pull the switch to vote. But at least, he's got some answers…

Sorry but I lived in MN when Jesse was voted in as the Govenor, What a low point in my life… equal to GWB being re-elected!!! Jesse needs to take his simple comments, brain. and body to a resort and rest. He is a professional wrestler in a suit. Do Not take this man seriously….I lived it and he is a miserabe A sad joke that had short term power!!!!! Don't make the mistake again…He needs to be dismissed!!!

ron   July 13th, 2008 11:41 pm ET

It would be uber-lame for Jesse to go on Larry King and say he's NOT running, but I think most folks up her are tired of him. Franken better hope he does though, because he will lose to Coleman otherwise. Which would be quite an achievement in our currrent political environment.

Willie C Branagan   July 13th, 2008 11:39 pm ET

I think Mr. Ventura should maintain a presence in government. I think he should run at a US Senator. I appreciate his values and his record as Governor of Minnesota. He's a strong independent, and I think his opinions should be heard

mike   July 13th, 2008 11:37 pm ET

You should really read or watch news instead of just venting, Arnold's done a great job as governor or CA, and what exactly is this "health insurance crisis", but red-herring Clinton invention that fell flatter than a flounder. Obama offers a solution to Iraq. Your zombie-army of past politicians were much "shadier" than those (-Clinton) you denounce today.

I watched Jesse Ventura a few weeks ago when he was on Larry King. Think he's taken a few too many blows to the head. He sat there with facial twitches and head jerks. When he opened his mouth all he kept saying was John McCain is too old to get a job in Washington (civil service and private sector) so he's too old to be President. And angry: no matter the subject he was angry. What a nut job: he sat there twitching and head jerking, angry about John McCain being too old to run for President.

And he wants thinks he is up to the job of being a Congressman? He's a one man freak show.

Isn't it interesting that in our democracy, the voters actually take no responsibility for the outcomes?

American voters take so little responsibility for the outcomes of electuions that this fool could actually win a US Senate seat in a state that once elected giants like Mondale and Hubert Humphrey.

And we wonder why our country is in such a mess. Give me a break.

Why not Ventura for preseident…could not be much different from Bush-Cheney…and we survived that. OR DID WE?

lma   July 13th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

Spare me another Jesse Ventura era. He is a nobody who has convinced people here in MInnesota that he is an "alternative". He is nothing more than a novelty. No brainpower, tons of ego, lousy hair. Bad combination. The only salvation this time around is that, if elected, he is only one of 100. It was horrible when he was governor.

Dan Wright   July 13th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

Jesse Ventura would be the only one in the race with military experience. He appointed what are regarded as the best judges in Minnesota. He picked both dems and repubs. He is a fiscal conservative, social liberal. Who would be better? George Bush's "lick spittle" or another lame comedian from snl.

Hey Jan From Boca Raton, Fl: I've noticed you need to get a word in on just about every story on the Ticker all day long… and you STILL have time to run one of the biggest Country Clubs in FL? Right… Are you being paid by the Republican party to post on every Ticker, or are they getting you to do it for free? You have NO argument other than VOTE REPUBLICAN…VOTE MCCAIN. Lame…

Regurgitating the party line is what got our nation into the current mess it's in, thanks to Dubya's hubris policy of having nobody disagree with him. I can think for myself, being an independent… but YOUR posted comments prove the Republican Party does all the thinking for you. Hmmm… Obamatron… Republitron… hmmm, I guess that concept works both ways. Break the mold and include some facts/reasoning in your comments, or get off the line… you're taking up valuable 1st Amendment space.

Connie   July 13th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

This would essetially seal the deal for Coleman's re-election because Ventura and Franken would split all the "democrat" votes. They agree on just about everything.

jmac   July 13th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

This would be a neat race to watch, especially the first time Franken gets snotty with Jesse and Jesse throws the weasel out the door. Anybody going to that debate really needs to take a camera along.

Nick - Arlington, VA   July 13th, 2008 10:33 pm ET

Jesse Ventura is tantamount to a conspiracy theorist nut job

John   July 13th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

I am so glad I moved from Minnesota. Jesse pretty muched ruined the MN economy with his Jesse-bribe checks (a refund of money that was sorely missed the next year). The problem with politics as a whole is that people run because they are rock stars (Clintons, Obama, Jesse, Arnold…an on and on) and not because they have real solutions to problems. Who has offered a real solution to the health insurance crisis? Nobody. Who has offered a real solution to the war in Iraq? Nobody. Who has real solutions to American problems? Not one of our politicians. We need guys like Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, and Martin Luther King to come back from the grave and shake these shady characters who are running (ruining?) our country by the throat.
