He would be a breath of fresh air in the senate. I don't think he can pull it off, unfortunately. He did in '98 though, so we shall see!

Even if people are only motivated to vote to keep him *out* of office, at least they're motivated.

Me? I'll vote for him, because Coleman is a bad choice, and Franken hasn't convinced me he's any better. He's been willing to call a spade a spade, even if it did look like he was digging his own grave with it. The gov't seats are held by people too cowardly to say what they really think, for fear of losing their jobs or offending "public sensibility". it's time to clean that garbage up – yes, even if it means having a non-genius in office.

Al Franken's campaign has yet to take hold, perhaps because the people of Minnesota are wary of celebrity actor candidates after the Ventura debacle. At the present time, it looks like Norm Coleman will narrowly defeat Franken in the fall, despite Franken's increasingly desperate and vicious attacks on Coleman.

It would benefit Franken if some Coleman voters could be peeled off, as it might give Franken a narrow margin of victory.

Clearly, the Franken people are funding Ventura and persuading him to run.

This should give the people of Minnesota an idea of the type of man Al Franken is (in addition to being a closet homophobe).

He'd be announcing his run for Senate on the state Capitol grounds or in his hometown in Minnesota – and not on Larry King if he cared about the state. You know who first refused to take the state budget (when there was a surplus) and invest it in transportation repairs – Jesse. Things went downhill faster when Jesse left office with Pawlenty coming in – but the neglect of the state started with Jesse.

Whether you agree with Franken or Coleman – at least in their own way they may care about the state of Minnesota – although with Coleman I personally have my doubts.

Jesse cares only about his entertainment value, his ego, and his standing invitation to appear on Larry King.

He had a difficult time as Gov because both political parties turned against him in favor of saving their own arses. An independent, is the threat to both parties and surely will get them to work together until they can oust em and then it's back to politics as usual for both the dems and repubs.

He has good ideas if one listens. The reason congress is broken is because it's beholden to business wishes. They essentially buy our representives vote in their favor. There has to be a balance between serving the people and serving business and right now it's not happening. Take the money out of politics or we will destroy ourselves.
