Romney is not an economist. He is a business person. Being able to make money is a business does not mean that you have insight into the global economy. Did Bush's business acumen help him? No.

Also, to the languages thing. Why the anti-Europe stance? Also, it is obvious that knowing another language helps. It is listed as a JOB SKILL on every application. Even Mitt should know that. I'm ashamed of MA having ever elected this phoney.

If Romney could be a positive influence on McCain on the subject of illegal immigration, more power to him. Romney has indicated in the past that he is ABSOLUTELY against amnesty for the illegals. He also has more of an economic background than McCain. Now, if he could just get us out of Iraq and keep Social Security and Medicare solvent, I might even vote for them.

From reading these comments, I have to say that what scares me the most about American future is the bigotry, ignorance, and lack of human respect that "Americans" have continued to express during this campaign. I don’t care if you don’t like Romney’s political stance on policy and issues, but when you start attacking someone based on his or her choice of religion, you undermine everything that this nation stands for. Whether one chooses to worship Buddha, practice Mormonism, or decide that religion is not for them, we as Americans should respect that., even if we don't understand it. The issue should not be whether Mitt Romney is Mormon, but whether he has the experience, capacity, and political ideals that America needs. Until we, as Americans, overcome our narrow-minded intolerance, we can never be the free and successful nation that our founders hoped that we would become.

The poll numbers are actually close here and the Republicans have been bleeding suburban voters. I have yet to see one McCain bumper sticker, but even in Highland Park you see Obama bumper stickers.

If McCain picks Romeny, Obama might carry Texas. These evangelicals here think he's basically the anti-christ.

So, you hear a lot about Mitt's "Economic expertise" because he was a successful businessman in the private sector. However, I can guarantee you that so far this hasn't translated into his governmental service. When he was Governor in MA, not a family in my hometown of over 21,000 residents didn't lose income and employment. Education costs skyrocketed, even compared to the ludicrous inflation rate on that industry in other states, yet even those at the college certainly weren't getting any wealthier. Support for police and for state highways plummeted, which may have saved the state money, but there's no tangible evidence of where that money has been spent instead, and no tax cuts. Republicans have typically tried to make a case for being tough on enemies to their state's citizens, but the last two years of Mitt Romney's administration had more murders per capita than the state has ever seen, and many of them went unsolved. Mitt Romney speaks often of patriotism, of doing the job at hand, and of supporting the people he represents, yet in the last two years of his administration, he spent more time out of the state than in it, and frequently delivered speeches making fun of the very people who elected him. Is this the kind of man you want in the White House, in any capacity? It certainly isn't my ideal candidate.

If Romney is the vp choice, I would bother to vote. And McCain needs a younger experienced man to back him up, someone who could himself be president. I don't care if he is a Mormon. So what? If McCain picks Romney then Bob Barr is going to get a lot more votes from conservatives. It's bad enough having McCain try to convince conservatives he is one of them, but if he adds Romney to the mix, the flip flopping that the two of them have done for political expediency will make Obama look like a saint. How will McCain be able to argue against universal health care when Romney signed it into law in his state and ran on it? So now he will flipflop on it?

What I was saying is that people need to take a step back and realize that regardless of what side of the political aisle we are on, we need to be level-headed and competent in our disagreements, rather than hurling out baseless attacks and vile smears. Ann if you knew anything you would know that Romney would punish Warren Jeffs far more than the State has. Jeffs is a polygamist some thing Mitt and all LDS can't stand. By the way heres my take on Obama and "change" which has become the leading word of this process, not all change is good. Lets change to higher taxes, less security, all show and no guts, thats "change" and personally I don't want it. How about "improve" as in "improve" our economic position behind someone with a proven track record. McCain all the way, unless Obama can prove he has a real plan to improve things, not just change them for the sake of change.

This country was founded on the principle of freedom of religion, but as we can see is only a phrase in the constitution, most Americans do not respect freedom of religion, most of them have not read the constitution.
