Obama promotes foreign policy cred in new ad

Obama is highlighting his work with Sen. Lugar in a new ad.

(CNN) - On the same day Barack Obama is set to deliver a major address on his Iraq policy, the Illinois senator has released a new campaign ad promoting his bipartisan efforts in foreign policy.

In the new 30-second spot called "America's Leadership," Obama highlights his work with Republican Sen. Dick Lugar seeking to stop terrorist smuggling of loose nuclear weapons.

“The single most important national security threat that we face is nuclear weapons falling into the hands of terrorists," Obama says in the ad. "What I did was reach out to Senator Dick Lugar, a Republican, to help lock down loose nuclear weapons. We have to lead the entire world to reduce that threat."

The two senators developed a working relationship after Obama praised Lugar’s nuclear nonproliferation legacy on the campaign trail in 2004. The Indiana Republican later suggested the newly-elected Obama try for a seat on the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, which he then chaired.

The ad is running in an 18 states, including the traditional Republican strongholds of Alaska, Georgia, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, and Virginia.

Yesterday a commentator on a political discussion show made an interesting observation about the fact %12 of Americans polled say they think Obama is Muslim. He said most of these people know Obama is NOT Muslim but they tell pollsters they believe he is just as a type of attack against Obama. Is this a great country or what? sigh

The questioned should be asked to Obama "if a terrorist country that is muslim attackes would he be inclined to go to war, against his brothers/sisters? Neither McCain nor Obama have influnced a vote from me, neither canidate wants to tell the truth they hide behind double talk. If Bush can run this country, even tho he ran it into the gorund...lol, then it proves anyone can run this country. But its going to take someone strong enough to bring htis country back to its Glory Days, that the veterns have fought for...Neither candidate is trong enough...

The New Yorker, so one said has always done satire of very important people...hummmm I am sure they put some kind of capturn on the picture and the inside article mentioned what the cover showed. This did not, it is not satire, it is racist, offensive and totally over the line. If you walked past that magazine and say that cover....what would you think?

They are saying Barack is a Muslim, (fear-mongering against the Islamic faith)
Burning of the Flag (Hatred for this country)
Michelle with an airfro, in camies, with an AK on her back (Angry Militant, black panther)
Fist bump (Some kind of gang sign)

The New Yorker is playing to the most fearful of Americans who believes anything they see or someone tells them, and refuse to do research for themselves, the I told you so Americans, the Americans with deep rooted racisms of both religon and ethnicity....Those that will never vote for a black man.

    GET IT?

i think Mccain should make an add where he is in a plane that gets shot out of the sky. Then he should get captured and tell the VC the starting lineups of the Steelers... or was it the Packers.

Both the editor of the New Yorker and the artist need to be FIRED! People have been fired for far less. Hustler and Penthouse have more credibilty than the New Yorker now. I wouldn't line my bird cage with it's pages.

In 1965 I was in Viet Nam....the war was just getting started and we were pumping troops in every day. I was 19 and met an older local man in Saigon. At some point in our conversation he said to me that "You may be able to conquer a country, but you can never conquer its people". He predicted that North Viet Nam would win in the end because the people wanted their country back and would never give up that cause. Ten years and 58,000 dead Americans later he proved to be correct.
Now, I'm 63 and I'm amazed at how little we learned from Viet Nam. Must we repeat history again and again? Shame on us if we vote to continue this war. We were spoon fed the same lies by LBJ as we have been by GWB and now McCain....PLEASE....let's stop listening to them now!!

When in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout. That's what Obama's foreign policy experience amounts to.

There are worse things than being inexperienced. Much worse.

Like being willing to sell out your country to the oil companies.
Like being willing to let Americans go on dying to make your buddies richer.
How can anyone vote Republican after what they've done to the country?

    Obama is a joke–
He has no experience in anything-
A vote for Obama is a vote for the Special Interests groups that lead him around by the nose until he figures it all out-
Hopefully–all will not be lost in the meantime-

Why don't you comment about the real bad racist remarks Obama states in his books, that is way more worse than the New Yorker cover.

Why is there this big coverup for Obama, literally hiding those remarks from the public!

Pretty sure he had NO "foreign policy cred"... As far as we know, he really never voted on anything... He had so called "opinions" on it all but failed to rock up and vote....

    Google it: "Deans Dozen"

Obama was in Howard Deans first Deans Dozen.

The handpicks of Dean and the old school Dems for certain positions.

Oh how the weak minded thought CHANGE................it's the same ole old school that has been backing Obama. That is why they turned their backs on Hillary, because they have their own agenda.

All of the uneduacated simple white Democrats that you, Howard Dean took for granted, will be voting for John McCain for President.

So chalk up another loss for Deans Dozen. I would rather die than vote for Obama. All of my Democrat friends say the same. In reality I am glad, because Dean you turned your back on us, shoved Obama down our throats, now we're throwing up.

Seems like you old school Dems, Dean, Kennedy, Dodd, Kerry really pissed us off this time. You turned your back on the Democrat's most viable candidate, Hillary. Now we are going to return the favor. I am going to turn my back on YOUR CHOICE Howard Dean, and will be voting Republican for the first time in my life.

At least I know McCain is a patriot, has pride, and shows and has shown his loyalty to his country. Therefore I will vote for McCain with a smile on my face.

How many Obama’s does it take to screw in a light bulb?

None………they can’t do it………they just stand around in the dark saying YES WE CAN,
YES WE CAN, I HAVE HOPE, WE CAN CHANGE.............THE LIGHTBULB.

Then……………Wright and Al Sharpton storm through the door, and blames the burned out bulb on the white man.

This man is brave, Obama. Can you imagine the hateful statements towards him and his family because of his race. And before you haters get online to say it's not his race, think again. I don't believe you–you're so upset that the country has grown and we are so far beyond race.

    Obama for a better America.
