(CNN) - On the same day Barack Obama is set to deliver a major address on his Iraq policy, the Illinois senator has released a new campaign ad promoting his bipartisan efforts in foreign policy.
In the new 30-second spot called "America's Leadership," Obama highlights his work with Republican Sen. Dick Lugar seeking to stop terrorist smuggling of loose nuclear weapons.
“The single most important national security threat that we face is nuclear weapons falling into the hands of terrorists," Obama says in the ad. "What I did was reach out to Senator Dick Lugar, a Republican, to help lock down loose nuclear weapons. We have to lead the entire world to reduce that threat."
The two senators developed a working relationship after Obama praised Lugar’s nuclear nonproliferation legacy on the campaign trail in 2004. The Indiana Republican later suggested the newly-elected Obama try for a seat on the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, which he then chaired.
The ad is running in an 18 states, including the traditional Republican strongholds of Alaska, Georgia, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, and Virginia.

Yesterday a commentator on a political discussion show made an interesting observation about the fact %12 of Americans polled say they think Obama is Muslim. He said most of these people know Obama is NOT Muslim but they tell pollsters they believe he is just as a type of attack against Obama. Is this a great country or what? sigh
The questioned should be asked to Obama "if a terrorist country that is muslim attackes would he be inclined to go to war, against his brothers/sisters? Neither McCain nor Obama have influnced a vote from me, neither canidate wants to tell the truth they hide behind double talk. If Bush can run this country, even tho he ran it into the gorund...lol, then it proves anyone can run this country. But its going to take someone strong enough to bring htis country back to its Glory Days, that the veterns have fought for...Neither candidate is trong enough...
The New Yorker, so one said has always done satire of very important people...hummmm I am sure they put some kind of capturn on the picture and the inside article mentioned what the cover showed. This did not, it is not satire, it is racist, offensive and totally over the line. If you walked past that magazine and say that cover....what would you think?

The New Yorker is playing to the most fearful of Americans who believes anything they see or someone tells them, and refuse to do research for themselves, the I told you so Americans, the Americans with deep rooted racisms of both religon and ethnicity....Those that will never vote for a black man.

In 1965 I was in Viet Nam....the war was just getting started and we were pumping troops in every day. I was 19 and met an older local man in Saigon. At some point in our conversation he said to me that "You may be able to conquer a country, but you can never conquer its people". He predicted that North Viet Nam would win in the end because the people wanted their country back and would never give up that cause. Ten years and 58,000 dead Americans later he proved to be correct.
Now, I'm 63 and I'm amazed at how little we learned from Viet Nam. Must we repeat history again and again? Shame on us if we vote to continue this war. We were spoon fed the same lies by LBJ as we have been by GWB and now McCain....PLEASE....let's stop listening to them now!!
When in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout. That's what Obama's foreign policy experience amounts to.
