Obama promotes foreign policy cred in new ad

Obama is highlighting his work with Sen. Lugar in a new ad.

(CNN) - On the same day Barack Obama is set to deliver a major address on his Iraq policy, the Illinois senator has released a new campaign ad promoting his bipartisan efforts in foreign policy.

In the new 30-second spot called "America's Leadership," Obama highlights his work with Republican Sen. Dick Lugar seeking to stop terrorist smuggling of loose nuclear weapons.

“The single most important national security threat that we face is nuclear weapons falling into the hands of terrorists," Obama says in the ad. "What I did was reach out to Senator Dick Lugar, a Republican, to help lock down loose nuclear weapons. We have to lead the entire world to reduce that threat."

The two senators developed a working relationship after Obama praised Lugar’s nuclear nonproliferation legacy on the campaign trail in 2004. The Indiana Republican later suggested the newly-elected Obama try for a seat on the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, which he then chaired.

The ad is running in an 18 states, including the traditional Republican strongholds of Alaska, Georgia, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, and Virginia.

Re the New Yorker cover....Dear Republicans just imagine how you would feel if the cover featured Cindy McCain smoking a meth pipe ,referring to past drug habit, in the oval office while John McCain was pressing the button to bomb Iran. How sensitive would you all be.

A black DA (Eddie Jordan) in New Orleans convicted of discriminating against about 45 white workers, (fired them to hire black unqualified workers) and cost the city over a couple of million in the lawsuit. He is still on the payroll for New Orleans under a different position.

Cameo reversed would a white DA be given the same hand………………….NO. Jesse, Al, NAACP, The New Black Panther Party, and The Jenna Six would have marched to the courthouse and demanded his resignation.

There is reverse discrimination going on in this country and is purely accepted because of past occurances. PRESENT DAY= Whites say racist comments, they are racists. Blacks say racist comments, they’re misunderstood, words taken out of context, just trying to better their race, mis-spoke.

No, putting Hilary on the ballot would just tick O supporters off. We would have a fight at the convention, and that's not good for the country. Barack Obama will be our next president, and the country should let that sink in–it's going to happen.

Obama treats as a vindication a recent statement by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki calling for a timeline for withdrawal of U.S. forces. But Maliki, playing to his domestic politic audience, can't be taken at face value. Neither Maliki nor anyone around him talks of an unconditional 16-month timeline for withdrawal as being remotely plausible. His defense minister says Iraqis will be ready to handle internal security on their own in 2012 and external security by 2020. So there you have it.

    Substance over Hype!!! McCain '08

Michelle Obama's thesis ... is unavailable until Nov. 5, 2008, at the Princeton library.
(not until after nomination, wonder why?)

    Racist comment :
"There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black community, I am obligated to this community
and will utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit the black community first and foremost."

McCain will pay for leaving his sick wife and kids and running around with a Jezebel, like Cindy Lou. Judgement Day is November 4th–we will vote for an honorable man. Barack Obama.

    From Dreams Of My Father;
“I learned to slip back and forth between my black and white worlds,” he wrote in “Dreams.” “One of those tricks I had learned: People were satisfied so long as you were courteous and smiled and made no sudden moves. They were more than satisfied; they were
relieved — such a pleasant surprise to find a well-mannered young black man who didn't seem angry all the time.”

Obama may have zero foreign policy cred . . . but at least he doesn't have over 4,000 dead soliders under his hat or blood all over his hands like Bush does.

    Dear John,

I've fallen in love with another candidate. One who can lead this country in a new direction. And by the way, he knows how to use the internet, and he knows there's no longer a country called Checkoslovakia.

    Traitorous comment:

“As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides,” Obama said. “There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song ‘I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing.’ If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.”

    Barack the vote !!

For those of you who say you don't know much about Senator Obama, I encourage you to take the time to find out the truth - read his book, go to his website, read his plans for progress in this country, get a point of reference. Don't just believe what people tell you, do the work, take personal responsibility and find out for yourself. Otherwise, your opinions mean nothing and they’re not your own.

Also, we can't possibly believe that defaming one candidate gives validity to another. Truth be told we all need to know as much about both candidates in order to make an informed decision.

Final note, get the information on the candidate of your choice and make the right decision – the best choice for this country.

I believe that is Senator Barack Obama.

  19. Steve/Houston,TX for Obama

Why is everyone concerned about Obama's experience or lack of? How much experience did George Bush have before he ran our counrty into the ground? And for Ms. Idiot of the Year- Jan from Boca Raton!!!! Yeah congratulations dummy!!! How is it that Obama can be racist when he is white and black? If Obama did not have pride in this country why would he run for the presidency? A fist bump equates "gang affiliation"? Are you serious? Where do you people come up with these idiotic comments? Obama has crossed party lines many times and has given credit where it is do. He has ran a proud campaign that did not belittle anyone. He does not involve himself in personal attacks. As the California governor himself stated, there is nothing wrong with flip-flopping or obtaining a better perspective on certain issues. The world is changing daily and with that change, certain views on certain issues should change. At least he is not a moron like our current president.!

    OBAMA'08 and more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some comments question Obama's experience as a qualification to be President. I think General Clark was right. Being a jet jockey is hardly qualifying experience for the presidency. Neither is having been a prisoner for five years. If that is the case we now have three more people qualified to be president...those who were held captive in columbia for five years. If having been in the senate for many years when either nothing has been done about our energy situation and our economic condition is a good qualification perhaps it would be better not to have that experience.
