Obama promotes foreign policy cred in new ad

Obama is highlighting his work with Sen. Lugar in a new ad.

(CNN) - On the same day Barack Obama is set to deliver a major address on his Iraq policy, the Illinois senator has released a new campaign ad promoting his bipartisan efforts in foreign policy.

In the new 30-second spot called "America's Leadership," Obama highlights his work with Republican Sen. Dick Lugar seeking to stop terrorist smuggling of loose nuclear weapons.

“The single most important national security threat that we face is nuclear weapons falling into the hands of terrorists," Obama says in the ad. "What I did was reach out to Senator Dick Lugar, a Republican, to help lock down loose nuclear weapons. We have to lead the entire world to reduce that threat."

The two senators developed a working relationship after Obama praised Lugar’s nuclear nonproliferation legacy on the campaign trail in 2004. The Indiana Republican later suggested the newly-elected Obama try for a seat on the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, which he then chaired.

The ad is running in an 18 states, including the traditional Republican strongholds of Alaska, Georgia, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, and Virginia.

'The Indiana Republican later suggested the newly-elected Obama try for a seat on the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, which he then chaired.'
......then neglected to show up for any of the meetings because he was running for president. Remember that? Hillary pointed that out in one of the debates I believe. Obama squirmed in his suit.

    Ready for the debates.

    Jan-
what do you mean the New Yorker is "printing the truth"? What part of those images do you consider to be true? And based on what FACTS? It was obviously a satire of the various LIES some on the extreme right have callously tried to disseminate about Mr. Obama.

  3. FLORIDA Voter for Barack Obama

THE VAST MAJORITY OF AMERICANS COULD CARE LESS ON NATIONAL SECURITY. THAT IS WHY MCCAIN IS A WEAK CANDIDATE. PEOPLE ARE NO LONGER CONCERNED WITH THE LIES AND BS REASONS TO GO TO WAR. WE ARE CONCERNED WITH HOME & OUR FAMILIES. PERIOD- OBAMA DOES NOT NEED TO HAVE ALOT OF EXPERIENCE WITH THAT. WE WILL VOTE FOR HIM ANYWAY.

WE CAN TRUST HIM, CONTRARY TO WHAT THE REPUBS AND MEDIA TRY TO INSINUATE FOR RATINGS AND VOTES.

I FEEL LIKE SOME OF AMERICA IS STARTING TO DOUBT THIS MAN. IF YOU FALL INTO THAT TRAP, THEY WILL WIN AGAIN, AND WE WILL SUFFER MORE. AND WE WILL TALK ABOUT HOW STUPID WE WERE THE NEXT ELECTION. THEY KEEP FORCING YOU TO LOOK AT THE FAKE NEGATIVES INSTEAD OF THE REAL TRUTH. ARE YOU THAT GULLABLE??

YOU EITHER HAVE A STRONG MIND OR SMALL MIND.

  4. The Truth

For all those who agree with The New Yorker cover:

An educated and informed reader can look past the cover and learn something from the article. However, all the cover does is reinforce negative stereotypes and racists beliefs to the ignorant and uneducated. Most will just look at the cover and say "I told you so" or "see it's true". I promise that the downfall of this country will be the bigots, racists and the uneducated.

I say go ahead and vote McBush and keep the war going.
Go ahead and keep paying record gas and food prices.
Go ahead and keep losing your homes.
Go ahead and keep standing in the unemployment line.
Unfortunately for some these are better alternatives than having an African American as President.

Obama Cult: Obama will not deliver one thing he has promised should we have the horrible luck for him to actually get elected. Thank goodness there are many who are starting to see this fake for what he is. Someone running for President without any experience and who doesn't have a clue what he is doing.

Iraq is NOT the central front on the War on Terror Pakistan and Afghanistan are.

Drilling for Oil is not the ANSWER to weaning the nation OFF its dependency on OiI, developing alternatives IS!!

The SAME discredited EXPERIENCE is NOT what is needed now.. GOOD NEW JUDGEMENT is!!

The same people whose mantra is now that Obama is not qualified voted for George Bush...TWICE. Have these same people who question Obama experience heard John McCain SPEAK??? The man is in the past and is very dangerous for the WORLD!!! He is in the exact same mold of Bush only more so. The same outdate disproven idea sof global domination will persist in a McCain administration with the additional need to prove his "manhood"

My God ! Why can't people see this? IT IS SO PLAIN TO SEE!!!

Wow...Jan from Boca Raton FL is extremely, utterly clueless! It's a shame that people are so comfortable in their ignorance sometimes! If you're not going to vote for Obama, that's fine, but do it on the basis of truth, not the "truth" that you're proclaiming.

I respect Senator McCain and strongly believe that he will not screw things up 'any further' nor will he hire someone in his administration as evil as Cheney or Rummy who will make the world hate us even more....

But the problem now is not screwing things up 'further'.... the problem is Damage control.... things have been screwed up so badly that we need damage control more badly than ever before on both National and International fronts. I think Obama has the personality that can do it better. He is better equipped to clean up the mess that maybe not President Bush himself but people in his administration have created. I wish Bill Clinton was an option. However much someone may like or dislike Bill, he had the personality that could bring people sit on a table and talk....

Why is everyone making such a fuss over the cover of the New York
magazine, it is only showing the truth. Obama needs to get used to
    people printing the truth.

Jan, Jan, Jan... The New Yorker cover is revealing all of the Republican's tricks and lies against Obama, and bringing it up for discussion front-and-center to cease the spread of the lies. But keep trying, because I'm sure there are still Americans with your false viewpoints. That's how Bush got elected second term, by try to use fear to win.

  15. The Cover

It's funny how The New Yorker cover was meant to point out the ignorance of the right wing fringe...and they prove how true it is by refering to it. What a bunch of rubes!

Anyone wanting to really know more about Obama should quit watching American Idol etc and read both of his books. That's why some stupid people in this country liked Bush. He was semi-illiterate like them.

You guys should go to jpost.com and see Omar Khadalfi's video from Arab TV. He talks about Obama and his muslim heritage and schooling and Khadalfi also says Obama shouldn't be afraid to be part of the Muslim brotherhood and embrace his allies. It also says, the Arab world is proud of him and they look forward to his Presidency. They want him to quit the politiacal posturing with Israel. I'm sure AP won't be running this story, If it gets out, the photos will look pretty normal. Is this really someone you want to run this country?

I don't really like obama style. He can do everything to get elected- His experience as No.1 to be is questionable. Am sure, he will not be.

What foreign policy experience? This man thinks people are stupid. A picture of him sitting next to Sen. Lugar doesn't give him foreign policy experience. If you notice, Obama can never stand alone, someone else has always got to vouch for his credibility.

I have not heard any leaks lately about how much money you have raised. I guess all that Republican money is now going to McCain now that they have succeeded in eliminating Hillary and positioning you as the nominee.
