Remember how the fox tried and tried to get the grapes that were too high for him to reach, what did he end up saying? "I don't want those sour grapes anyway."

Wikipedia says it this way:

The Fox and the Grapes is a fable attributed to Aesop. The protagonist, a fox, upon failing to find a way to reach grapes hanging high up on a vine, retreated and said: "The grapes are sour anyway!" The moral is stated at the end of the fable as:

It is easy to despise what you cannot get. (In political terms - it is easy to say you don't want something you KNOW YOU'RE NOT GOING TO GET)

It is going to be Obama/Biden 08 - Read it and weep GOP!

No offense to Jack Reed as I love the State of Rhode Island but WHY oh WHY would Obama pick ANYONE from a state that is blue or even bluish and Reed doesn't do it really. A savvy pick for Obama would be Biden MOST ESPECIALLY Biden, the maybe Tim Kane of VA, Richardson of New Mexico or Evan Bayh of Indiana. In my opinion those are the ONLY ones he should consider. They are all marvelous VP picks but Biden is EXCEPTIONAL and give him expertise, experience and foreign policy gravitas. Biden is BRILLANT.... how about that for a change!!

When the politicians distance themselves from "one of thier own" it sends a message to the American people... Obama has no substance and his peers know it...too bad the people didn't catch on sooner. Just too wrapped up in their "rock star".

As a former Republican, I don't really understand why HRC's supporters hate this man so much. I have given up trying to understand how someone who call him/herself Democrats could even entertain the idea of voting for McCain when he has made it very clear that under his presidency, it'll be more of what we're getting now. If you like where our country is and where it'll be heading if we keep doing what we're doing today, if you think that another war with Iran will be a good thing, then it's a no brainer. You should vote for McCain.

I have voted Republican all of my life (and I'm not on my 30th or 40th..much older) but I love my country and my grandchildren to much to even think about continuing on this path.

Obama 08.

my nephew is being shipped to iraq this week, my daughter to iraq and my son to Kuwait, and you idiots, especially so-called Hillary supporters are stuck on stupid. Get an education, people!

I don't know why more aren't saying yest to the V.P. slot with Obama. I have a terrible feeling that Obama won't be around long after he is sworn in and whomever the V.P. is will quickly ascend to the presidency.

I think Joe Biden is the perfect choice, as he should have been the nominee.

I'm justing laughing my nuts off right now. I was down on the David Plouffe "we need money now" ticker and I see comments like Capt Smash "I sent $500.00 today" or TJ " I'm sending $100.00 a week until election time" or " I sent $1000.00 today" (can't remember name). Hey geniuses there is a $250.00 cap for individuals donating to a single campaign which means either you're all breaking the law (I doubt it) or you're the biggest bunch of liars ever (more likely).

I have also noticed that. Capt Smash is a moron just read his posts and any one can see that. Can't comment on the rest I don't know what kind of things they wright.

MDB,

By now, someone probably already replied to you, but campaign finance laws allow a maximum of $2,300 for both the primary and general election.

So, one person could give up to $4,600 if you split it up between the two elections.

Wonder what rock he will turn over and look under now. And the Hillary lovers are still lurking. Maybe he can make a 911 call to the middle east and get a running mate. Jesse Jackson should throw his hat in the ring since he is well versed on fathering kids out of wedlock.

Why report non-news. Was he asked, no. Was it reported by the Obama camp that he was in the running, no. Does this mean that everyone Obama has a face to face with is being considered, I don't think so.

Let me clarify one thing to date, I am not seekling the VP position, I do not desire the VP post. There I have come out and said it, it has the same news worthness as all of the others that have not been asked coming forth and saying they don't want it.

What I don't understand. Is someone who has not been asked to provide information is saying I don't want to VP. Clearly, no one asked you. To me, as I see this string of white men, saying they don't want to vp when they have not been approached is quite offensive to me. It's a shame that racism still exists. Why is there such a relish to say this. Have we heard one person in the Republican party say they do not want to be McCain's running mate? Why such dissafection among the Democrats? You know what it is? I wonder if It is the Hillary effect. I wonder if there is any pressure behind the scenes by Clintonites trying to affect potential vp candidates... so she is higher on the list. After all, what is the political benefit to saying outloud to the public, I am not interested in being Senator Obama's running mate. Very strange....

Dems had realized and know who Barack Hussein Obama is that's the reason why they are distancing from him. He's very dangerous guy that has no ambition for American people but to put them down, believe it or not he's a muslim and it's the fact. Whoever is insisting that he's not a muslim try to visist the place in Indonesia where he was raised by his muslim father. His words are full of lies just to persuade people to go with his side.

Au contraire, McCain's list is rather limited...

1. Dick Cheney (unlikely considering he did not even run for the presidential nomination, despite being VP)
2. Fred Thompson (two dry old white guys, whoot!)
3. Rudy Giuliani (his twin brother)
4. Condoleeza Rice (self-explanatory)
5. Charlie Crist
6. Uuuuh...
7. George W. Bush (oh wait, he can't be VP after his 2-term limit)
8. Arnold Schwarzeneger (being born in Austria, he is disqualified for presidential office via the natural-born citizen clause... then again, McCain was born in Panama, and nobody seems to care)

I do not understand what the fuss is all about. Barack Obama has PLENTY of VP picks, especially if it is not limited to Dems...

Democrats:
1. Karen Sabellius
2. Joe Biden
3. John Edwards
4. Gen. Wesley Clark
5. Mike Gravel
6. Dennis Kucinich
....
Okay, fine, if it comes down to it... Hillary Clinton

Republicans:
1. Colin Powell
2. Chuck Hagel
3. Ron Paul
4. pretty much anyone else who is NOT a neocon

Independents, Greens, Libertarians, etc.
1. Jesse Ventura
2. Ralph Nader
3. ...uuuh... can't think of any now... but a VP slot is the closest a 3rd party candidate can expect to the presidency

I would expect an Obama-Edwards or Obama-Sebellius ticket. I could even anticipate a cross-party Obama-Paul, Obama-Hagel, or Obama-Powel ticket.

How can you say NO to something that hasn't been offered?! Obama has clearly stated to "ignore" all of the speculation, HE and ONLY HE will announce who his V.P. candidate is. Why on earth can't these people let it go until that happens? The pundits and the "non" candidates are getting boring already.

Obama was the only choice from the beginning. All 77 senators who authorized Iraq war (including McCain and Hillay) should have been in jail long ago. And I still read inCNN that besides 48% pro-Obama, there are 42% pro-McCain idiots. The only thing democrats need to be in power is to improve education in this country. Reducing number of morons who support a war with a country they cannot find on a map - that's most reliable strategy for democrats, and I give it free to Howard Deen.

MDB,

Before you start calling people liars you should check your facts: the maximum contribution an individual can give is $2500. Luckily Obama has a huge pool of enthusiastic supporters who will be happy to give until he's elected in Nov.

Makes sense. Reed has a young daughter and was worried about the whirlwind life that his running for VP would force upon her. So for those of you saying he's afraid of joining a "sinking ship", keep in mind that there are other factors.

I find it absolutely amazing all the idiots who come out of the woodwork claiming people are "distancing" themselves from Obama. You can't turn down a job you weren't offered in the first place.
