McCain again cites current events in 'Czechoslovakia'

McCain again referred to the nation of Czechoslovakia, which no longer exists.
McCain again referred to the nation of Czechoslovakia, which no longer exists.

(CNN) – For the second time in two days, John McCain has referred to current events in “Czechoslovakia” – a country that officially ceased to exist in January of 1993.

“And I regret some of the recent behavior Russia that has exhibited, and I’ll be glad to talk about that later on including reduction in oil supplies to Czechoslovakia after they agreed with us on a missile defense system, etcetera,” said the presumptive Republican nominee at a New Mexico town hall Tuesday.

More than fifteen years ago, Czechoslovakia officially split into two nations – the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

On Monday, the Arizona senator made virtually the same statement about recent Russian moves that troubled him, citing that country’s attempt to reduce “the energy supplies to Czechoslovakia.”

Later that evening, McCain’s campaign sent reporters a statement on the issue, which quoted the Arizona senator calling the nation “the Czech Republic” twice.

I was born in Czechoslovakia before it split up in 1979 and I really really really really really hate George Bush & John McCain. The Czech Republic had numerous protests from it's citizens against the stupid missile defense system, which will only make them a target and not provide any protection at all! A public opinion poll stated that well over 85% of Czechs did not approve of the missile defense system and it was obviously approved by greedy politicians looking to line their pockets with cash. They will be so rich by approving this system that they will be able to afford to move out of the Czech Republic, should any dangerous situation arise from this agreement, while the citizens of the Czech Republic are left to deal with any crisis which may occur.

PS: Did I mention that Slovaks and Czechs hate George Bush & John McSame, thank you for your time.

Too many mistakes on a daily basis to be considered a confident leader. McCain would've made an adequate president in the 50's, but he would hurt our country beyond repair in 2009.

If the Czech Republic decided to attack us, they could always say Czechoslovakia did it. John wouldn't know the difference.

This is just as bad as he was talking to President Putin from Germany, or mispoke about which group Iran was (supposedly) supporting.

And this guy is ripping on Obama's foreign policy?

So when will Nancy Reagan begin accompanying him to feed him the same line she fed Ronnie during his spontaneous press encounters, "Tell them we're working on it." McCain: Leadership for the last century and decades back with a map, mind and mindset to match. O.K. now, Grampy, time for your afternoon snack and big boy underwear change.

To me it sounds like mr McCain is trying to start another cold war with Russia. McCain should talk about important things like Russias relationship with Georgia and Estonia.

This country is going to need a lot of prayer, whom ever we pick. One is young, one is old–God help us. But I have faith, we've seen some rough times, but we always prevail, and we will this time.

Well..he wants America to be America, right? So that means he is setting a good example since most Americans are clueless and ignorant about the world's geography. God forbid Americans have to learn other languages or the history of other nations. That would be so un-American. Sometimes I think the American leaders and elite want the rest of us to remain dumb so we can't compete with our corporate masters that keep us down and begging for scraps.

Americans need to have better foreign policy, diplomacy, understanding about other cultures and traditions...but no...we just want our Wal-Marts, SUVs, reality shows and the belief that just because we are born within a certain region we are better than other people.

My friends that are planning to vote for McSame, here is a tip . He has early but unmistakable signs of Alzheimer's. In addition to that, he isn't the brightest bulb on the tree. Here is a guy that got shot down 5 separate times. That has to be some kind of "worst pilot in the world" record. He can't figure out who is fighting who in Iraq, he divorces his wife and 3 kids and leaves her for a drug addict that is 18 years younger them him because his then wife, was in a bad car accident and " just wasn't the same women that she used to be". Need more, look up the "Keating Five".......

And for the last time You republicans, Obama was only exagerating the 57 states thing because of how long the democratic primary was. This is a constitutional lawyer that taught how the law affects the fifty states and he was referring to other US regions not officially states of the US where they campaigned just being funny. Get a life you whiners!

This is starting to get scary. First he doesn't know Sunni vs. Shia. He seemed totally confused when the woman asked him about medical plans' coverage of Viagra vs. birth control. Now he can't remember something most fifth-graders know.
It's very sad, but the man does appear to be losing his bearings... marbles.... long-term memory....whatever you want to call it.
He's too old folks. He's just too, too old.
