McCain again cites current events in 'Czechoslovakia'

McCain again referred to the nation of Czechoslovakia, which no longer exists.

McCain again referred to the nation of Czechoslovakia, which no longer exists.

(CNN) - For the second time in two days, John McCain has referred to current events in “Czechoslovakia” – a country that officially ceased to exist in January of 1993.

“And I regret some of the recent behavior Russia that has exhibited, and I’ll be glad to talk about that later on including reduction in oil supplies to Czechoslovakia after they agreed with us on a missile defense system, etcetera,” said the presumptive Republican nominee at a New Mexico town hall Tuesday.

More than fifteen years ago, Czechoslovakia officially split into two nations – the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

On Monday, the Arizona senator made virtually the same statement about recent Russian moves that troubled him, citing that country’s attempt to reduce “the energy supplies to Czechoslovakia.”

Later that evening, McCain’s campaign sent reporters a statement on the issue, which quoted the Arizona senator calling the nation “the Czech Republic” twice.

This dude clearly would be a disaster for foreign policy. Yes, Obama may be labeled untested but with all of John McCain's blunders internationally, he is clearly not the right person for an international high profile job of President of the US. The republicans just failed to get a really strong candidate this year. They all know it, now they are trying to figure out how to deal with the hand they have been dealt with.... I shake my head and shudder in shame...

What is wrong with you people? The overwhelming majority of Americans can't locate the Czech Republic or Slovakia on a map let alone know anything about either country. This was a mistake...sure...but i'm pretty sure that John McCain doesn't want to use force to rejoin the Czech Republic and Slovakia. So grow up and try focusing on a real issue like whether or not we should even have a missile defense system in the Czech Republic instead of focusing on the latest stupid gaff.

So what!!! I still call it Czechoslavakia and I have not been there since 1986. Maybe the following will help, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan all members of the former USSR, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Herzogovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo all former members of Yugoslavia or how about the Czech Republic or Slovakia formally Czechoslovakia or maybe Eritria formerly Ethiopia or The Marshall Islands or Namibia formerly South Africa or Myanmar formerly Burma or the Democratic Republic of Congo or The Ivory Coast or Tanzania or Swaziland or the Horn of Africa.

These have all been changed just since 1990 and does not reflect even a dent in the list. Don't get caught up in hype people.

Candidate McCain needs to visit the Czech Republic on a fact-finding mission to see: (1) if we can use it as a staging area for our 100 years in Iraq and, (2) why it doesn't exist.

McCain called it the Czech Republic twice very recently. McCain is constantly holding open town halls and press avails while Obama never doesn't read from a script.

Obama says 57 states. Obama says Maliki is the president of Iraq and that got no media attention. Obama says the leader of Canada is the president of Canada. Obama said sunshine florida instead of sunrise florida. Obama said 100 million died in burma and 10,000 died in a tornado in kansas last year.

Another blunder McPuppet…..I guess you didn’t have Liebermann behind you so that he can pull your strings.

Funny how McCain always has Liebermann right behind him. Its like they are worried that McPuppet will make a mistake.

And McCain is supposed to have more street cred regarding foreign policy??? Where was Liebermann to correct him?? No wonder he likes Romney speaking for him saying we need to make sure America stays American. McCain is a great example of the American who thinks isolationism is more patriotic than talking with our foreign allies or enemies. This is exactly what other nations dislike about Americans – that we think we are better than others and do not need to know about global issues. McCain is starting to scare me more and more everyday.

I am really starting to believe McCain knows nothing about foreign relations (which is supposed to be his strong suit) and he definitely knows nothing about the economy. His repudiation of Phil Gramm's remarks seemed a bit insincere and out of touch to me. He mentioned the single mom and the person who just lost their job, but he does not seem to realize even two-parent families in which both adults work full-time are also hurting.

Rosa in Alabama– the difference is 90% of Americans AREN'T vying to be President. That's what makes it sooo ridiculous. The folks that 'overlook' these sorts of mistakes. Yesterday's slip up was an 'oops' –today...just plain mental lapse. Don't you think someone in his camp that knows how to use the internet told him about it? He forgot -clear sign of age. How can anyone really fathom electing this guy as President. He won't remember from one day to the next what's going on!! Too scary for me. And please people get off the 57 state thing. That is really really OLD OLD news from an wonderful man that was exhausted. As intelligent as Barack is...don't fool your stupid selfs into believing he doesn't know how many states are in the US. Just stupid to even continue to bring that up– if that's all you got– shame on you- McCain the flip/flop forget moments are too many to list!!.
