McCain again cites current events in 'Czechoslovakia'

McCain again referred to the nation of Czechoslovakia, which no longer exists.
McCain again referred to the nation of Czechoslovakia, which no longer exists.

(CNN) – For the second time in two days, John McCain has referred to current events in “Czechoslovakia” – a country that officially ceased to exist in January of 1993.

“And I regret some of the recent behavior Russia that has exhibited, and I’ll be glad to talk about that later on including reduction in oil supplies to Czechoslovakia after they agreed with us on a missile defense system, etcetera,” said the presumptive Republican nominee at a New Mexico town hall Tuesday.

More than fifteen years ago, Czechoslovakia officially split into two nations – the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

On Monday, the Arizona senator made virtually the same statement about recent Russian moves that troubled him, citing that country’s attempt to reduce “the energy supplies to Czechoslovakia.”

Later that evening, McCain’s campaign sent reporters a statement on the issue, which quoted the Arizona senator calling the nation “the Czech Republic” twice.

Perhaps he'll ask the Prussians or the Persians to intercede on behalf of Czechoslovakia. If that fails he can always turn to the Emperor of the Austro-Hungarian empire.

John McCain for President in '08? Uh, 1908 maybe.

J.P., Obama is actually ahead in the polls. McCain is not gaining, sorry. And attacking some on switching the l and o? That's moronic. Especially when this article is talking about your candidate talking about a country that does not exist.

Even if it is true that "90% of Americans do not know Czechoslovakia ceased to exist 15 years ago", why should we let ignorance go by?

By the way, he is not an average American, he is the presumptive nominee of the Republican party!

Considering his age, I would have thought he would address the area as the Hapsburg Empire...
After eight years of a mentally deficient president inhabiting the Oval Office, I hope these continued idiotic remarks (Vladimir Putin is the President of Germany??) by the Republican nominee will wake up the American voters into realizing that a McCain presidency really will be a third term of incompetency and failed policy.

The wise men say "It is too late to cry when the head has been chopped off", Americans if we elect John McCain and you think we are crying today? Wait till (God forbid) if this man becomes President because you won't have the ability to cry not without a head no we won't. It will be the downfall of an empire like OLD ROME because Americans were too racists or too foolish to continue down the same path.

Obama will be presiding over the USA with Intelligent faithful dedicated and well experienced cabinet with some sprinkle of youth proactiveness. We celebrate young men dropping out from colleges and building empires like Microsoft, Google and Youtube. Tell me what was wrong with JFk and I'll you what is wrong with Obama.

    Americans WAKE UP SLEEPWALKERS.

John McCain is OLD and he should retire completely – even from the Senate. He can take some of Cindy's money and buy a spiffy new rocking chair for his front porch and spend the day rocking and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
