It just so happens that just because John McCain was a POW for 5 years, such does not qualify him as an expert in foreign policy, etc. After all, he certainly has not been the ONLY POW in existance!!! Get real people!

I'd like to see a timetable for transitioning out of Iraq. You would think McCain would have seen from the Vietnam "Conflict" that you might be able to conquer a land, but you can't conquer the people. Tens of thousands Americans dead and we transitioned out and let the Vietnamese people resume control of their country. Vietnam taught us good lessons.

As far as being a more qualified Commander In Chief, as a professional soldier McCain should have been demanding an exit strategy from the beginning. Without an exit strategy you are simply there to conquer and occupy. Ignore the desire of the people of that land you conquered. This is precisely the McCain approach for another 100 years.

While he was a POW he totally missed the last 5 years of American voter upset over Vietnam, thus McCain in 2008 fails to see American voters of the Vietnam Era aren't not supportive of occupation for.

You can call John McCain any nasty names you want -- won't work on those of us who KNOW that he is a genuine, experienced statesman and true American hero.

But what would you know about any of that? You sit safely at home while others fight the battles for you -- and probably fall apart when your cell phone battery is low!

Keep it up with your dismal anti-McCain psychobabble -- and continue to demonstrate that your middle name is "Idiot."

I commend John McCain for his service to this country. Having stated that, I wish someone would run an ad on his votes on Veteran's issues.

For someone who had, "been there, done that" he has done very little for the men and women who served before him and after him.

I guess this is one of many reasons a lot of us that won’t vote for him (McCain).

Sequentially, integrity is what I look for in someone running for President. Self-aggrandizement without end is a characteristic flaw that cannot overlook in anyone running for that same position.

McCain: ‘I Received The Highest Award From Literally Every Veterans Organization In America"

The recognition McCain has received from veterans groups is not "high awards" but failing grades:

Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America gave McCain a grade of D for his record of voting against veterans. (By contrast, Obama got a B+.)

Disabled Veterans of America noted McCain’s dismal 20 percent voting record on veterans’ issues. (Obama had an 80 percent.)

In a list of "Key Votes," Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) notes McCain "Voted Against Us" 15 times and "Voted For Us" only 8. (Obama voted for VVA 12 times, and against only once.)

This is a waste of a commercial especially when the "surge" is working. This is poor advertising and this will have no effect on any Independents, McCain supporters, or Hillary supporters. This add is to only make Obama supporters scream Hooray! Try again Move-on or how about you just "Keep it Move-in".

I don't know what is wrong with moveon.org. They decided to support Obama, but every time they have been criticized from the right, Obama has refused to support them. If Obama doesn't stop moving to the center, pretty soon he'll be on the right. Afterall, he already voted with Bush on the surveillance bill. I'm not afraid he's a radical Muslim. I'm afraid he's a Reagan Republican!

Allyou people quoting the Iraqi Prime Minister's call for a timetable. Do you realize this is progress??????

Good God people....Iraq is now a national security issue....was it before we invaded probably not. But it happened and now we have to fix it!!!! What happened when the Soviets left Afganistan....do any of you brain dead Obama supporters know?????????

Well, do some research if you can't guess off the top of your head. We are in Iraq now and we need to prevent Iraq from becoming another terrorist breeding ground like Afganistan became for OUR OWN SAFETY!!!

Plus, if you think the world hates us now, as all the Obamabots like to suggest....(even though all of GW's allies were re-elected) then people just think how they will feel about us if we bomb a country to shreds and then leave without fixing it!!!!

Would you people please use some common sense!!!!!!

God this country is scary

Moveon is a despicable organization. The General Betray Us ad was disgusting. Of course Obama never criticized it. McCain was right about the surge, and now Obama wants to copy McCain's strategy in Afghanistan. You don't hear many liberals criticizing the surge any more, do you? Because they were dead WRONG again. Obama has never been to Afghanistan, and hasn''t been to Iraq in two years. Without talking to the commanders in the field, any strategy he proposes is just hot air. Where did Obama learn military strategy? Law school? What a sorry, pathetic joke.

McCain is so right when it comes to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I dont want our troops to come home thinking that we didnt respect the hard work they did to turn Iraq in a direction for the better.

Anyway, Obama has the exact same policy as McCain, which is to keep a force there as security and some that are combat ready. Exactly what McCain said he'd do and will do it as and when the generals on the ground say so.

What is so wrong with making a decision based on the circumstances. Do we buy a house if we can't get a loan? If the car needs new tires, we don't take a long trip until we get new tires. All John McCain is saying is that we need to let the situation and the circumstances determine the best course of action.

Right now the Hamas has joined the Taliban in Afghanistan. That means that we need to strengthen our troops and change some of our tactics there. Iraq has become more stable. I'm sure that this development will allow us to bring some troops out of that country.

When we make decisions of troop deployment that are set in concrete, that only allows our enemies to plan and plot accordingly. That not helping our national security.

All you folks who hate Bush and McCain still have to admit we haven't had another episode like 9/11 happen since Bush took the bull by the horns. If Obama gets in, chances are, he'll offer the same type of foreign policy that emboldened the terrorists to begin with. Face it democrats, you don't have a clue how to win the war on terror. Keep in mind, many of the things you want to defend, ie. abortion, gay agenda, pornography, etc.are major reasons we are under attack by these "religious fanatics". How about some truth in media CNN?

I enjoy the idealistic and naïve view point of those who believe the “world” is a safe place because they don’t have any one blowing up buildings on their street today.

Those are the same people who don’t study or pay attention to the mistakes of history. Putting your head in the sand and bringing our troops home before the region is stable leads to more problems for the USA.

The flip-flopping policy patterns created by Obonga style politics would “enable” and strengthen our enemies.

What Lefties seem to miss is that the US Generals working in the Iraq theater have started talking about “meaningful” troop removal due to the progress that has been made. McCain is not opposed to troop removal but thinks he needs to have a more informed and intelligent plan based on facts and with the input of the General and Troops in Iraq.

McCain gets praise for his military service, but no military soldier wants to do 3 and 4 rotations in Iraq. I am a child of a former military officer who served 21 yrs in the Army. Families are torn apart, and soldiers have mental issues when they return from war. I have been witness to this in my life time.

John McCain wants to win what? You cannot win in Iraq. What are we winning? We need to get out and have a withdrawal plan to leave. This man is too old to lead this country. He is old school, and like many people on this blog does not want change. Well, like Obama or not he will be the next President by a great landslide.

We need an intellegent person for President, not another McBush!

Okay - Iraq is not McCain's only policy. Take a look a his speeches and websites to find out his real ideas. As for Iraq- we can't leave there unfinished. Also, no one can predict the future of Iraq. Which is why McCain made a comment on 100 years. We need to leave Iraq stable- its not stable right now and McCain is unable to predict when it will be. McCain will finish the job in Iraq- he know's what it is like to be a POW and in war. He has seen it all on the front lines, which Obama hasent. He doesnt want to be in there - but he can't surrender.

Vote McCain!

McCain's children are fighting in Iraq, are any lib politicians children over there?

Remember when lib would cry all day about how Jenna and Barb need to be fighting in Iraq? Since McCain's children are fighting for our freedom now the lib has totally abandoned their former way of thinking and so called belief. Yes folks, the lib democrat is this slimey, hateful, selfish, mean, partisan, and misguided. No, republicans are not saints, but they are much better people than libs. Dig further if you want to see the truth, compare the red and blue counties of America, the picture is very clear when you review the facts.

Polls Said:

"People lets not forget 9/11. These are terrorists who came to our country and tried to destroy us. Do we coward down to them or do we stand up and fight."

I agree with that, but today's foreign policy says that we have forgotten. Does anyone sincerely believe at this point that Iraq was about the war on terrorism? & Let's be reasonable, don't u think the Iranians understand that a nuclear war means their own obliteration? Is our president so arrogant to think that he is the only one that understands the consequences of nuclear war? Afghanistan is where the war on terrorism was/is. We got distracted b/c Bush wanted to make up for his dad not taking out Hussein to begin with and because he is an Oil man. Getting out of Iraq (which the Iraqi's want too, btw) and refocusing on Afghanistan is not being cowardly. It is re-establishing resolve in accomplishing a mission (and that's without the stupid 'mission accomplished' banner).

As a member of the armed forces, and having been in Iraq let me sum up what we are indeed doing in Iraq with a metaphorical phrase and question:

Saint Louis, Missouri has one of the highest crime rates in America. They have the highest drug manufacturing rates and one of the highest violent crime rates. Their high school drop out rates are among the top ten in the nation, and their education standards were so low they have state apponted leadership in many schools.

In many ways the city of Saint Louis is like Iraq.

The military personel in Iraq are like the city and county police in Saint Louis. They do their jobs on a daily basis, but from the outside (from people who do not live there) Saint Louis, while have some problems, is a thriving city.

Now for the metaphorical question: Should we send all the police in Saint Louis home because "The job is done?"

If the Iraqi government wants us to set a timetable for withdrawal, and we are supposed to be on their side, who are we to question that?

And wouldn't the so-called "success" of the surge strengthen the case for leaving sooner?

It's about time! The Democrats need to hammer McCain with his numerous flaws every chance they get. One of the posters (Dianne) was taking about people's irrational, illogical thinking when it comes to the 2 candidates. If these mixed up voters would listen with thier eyes closed to both candidates they would be able to see the right and logical solution. GET OUT OF IRAQ !!!! Obama 08

McCain would bomb Canada for their syrup and bacon if he were president. That's how his mind works: Conflict? Bomb!

He's forgetful, doddering, infirm, frail, mean-spirited and uninformed-

Do we REALLY need another idiot spaz running the country? So if you want more wars, and fewer jobs, vote McCain

I think it's this simple:

Iraq wants us out, let's leave.

Our economy (wether imagined or real) is falling apart, let's fix it.

Health care needs an overhaul, anybody want to do that?

Federal loans for college students don't just need a lower interest rate, but a higher borrowing limit, who's with me?

Oh, and lastly, the 'party' system has failed, let's just try electing people (just people, not parties) and see what happens. Anybody think that may go better? It sure as hell couldn't go any worse.

I really feel bad for Senator McCain. He was a war hero and a good Senator, but now he is too out of touch. The fact that he supports Bush and often appears confused is very sad. I wish him well, but I will vote for Obama...

All the opponents of Obama can do is sling around labels. They are dead in the water when it comes to actually making a rational argument, and they know it!....so they toss around commmie, liberal, left wing, crazies, etc......

sounds like the pot calling the kettle black to me.

If you want the government to wipe your butt then he's your man. If you want your money for your family you need to rethink your politics. Read rather that base your opinions on news or moveon and idot organiztion.

Why must people older than 5 descend into name calling? You don't like McCain, fine - certainly your decision. To act like a child and call him silly insulting names is below the adults interact.

By the way, "McBush" as some called him was despised and "swift-boated" by Mr Bush in 2000 - do you really think they like each other?

As to moveon.org - it's time they move on. They are as much a polarisxzing force in the country as any Right Wing think tank, and should go to way ot the It may be entertaining to watch them push the radical agenda, but remember, Americans have long memories and eventually they will be on the outs.

Listen, if the leader of a "soverign" (so called) country is asking the occupires of their country for a timetable for there withdrawl. THAT"S A PERFECTLY REASONABLE REQUEST! If the situation were reversed and the US was the country being occupied we sure as hell would want the occupying force OUT ASAP! Looks like the things Obama has been advocating for are coming through!
