Obama debuts second national security spot in two days

Obama’s second national security spot this week focuses on loose nukes.
Obama’s second national security spot this week focuses on loose nukes.

(CNN) — Barack Obama has released his second ad with a national security focus in as many days Wednesday, amid a week of events designed to highlight the presumptive Democratic nominee’s credentials on that front.

In the new 30-second spot, “Changing World” – which, like “America’s Leadership” Tuesday, does not mention Iraq and Afghanistan - Obama again highlights his work on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to end the smuggling of loose nuclear weapons. The ad debuted on the same day he held a summit on the issue in Indiana, featuring prospective VPs Senator Evan Bayh and former Senator Sam Nunn as panelists.

“Forty years ago it was missile silos and the Cold War,” says the announcer, over images of missiles and other security threats. “Today, it’s cyber attacks…loose nukes…oil money funding terrorism.

“Barack Obama understands our changing world. On the Foreign Relations Committee, he co-sponsored a law to lock down loose nuclear weapons. As president, he’ll rebuild our alliances to take out terrorist networks, and fast-track alternatives so we stop spending billions on oil from hostile nations,” continues the announcer. “New leadership for a changing world.”

The ad will run on national cable starting Thursday.

To Bobby Knight: Where is Obama going to lead you? Nobody knows . . . not even Obama. At that is the problem.

I'm glad the Messiah will take action on our National Security. Locking up nukes, taking out terrorists, entering into Pakistan uninvited and creating another war even though we can't win in Iraq and the surge has failed. I would say anyone that thinks these promises are brilliant, could you please tell me how the Messiah plans to accomplish any of these? OK, starting a war with Pakistan is pretty easy, so I'll give him that one. Also, I have heard rumors that he did create the Big Bang too.

Obama has the ability to truly change the world. He will be respected around the world and other world leaders will want to follow his lead. We are already seeing other world leaders come forward and want to negotiate for peace. The same ones he was called naive to even imagine.

I read this ad and it makes about as much sense as he does. What does it say? Change what? The problems he speaks of, are still here. What has he stopped? He stopped doing his job from day one. I don't trust either of these current jerks who want to lead this nation. One thinks we have 57 states, the other doesn't know that the world has changed. We are in big trouble with either of these jokers. I will write Hillary on my ballot, unless the DNC realizes their mistake with Obama and switch their votes to her in August.

If Obama understood todays world he would chastise those who have continued to block drilling for oil in this country knowing full well that millions upon millions of dollars spent on oil end up funding terrorists organizations throughout the Middle East. Instead he spends his energies trying to convince us that even if we drill it will take ten years to get a drop of oil from new projects. The problem is that is not the case. Drilling in areas where there is already infrastructure could be brought online in 1-2 years. Deep water drilling would take 6-8 years to be brought online. By using the oil that is in the ground here not only would we stop exporting hundreds of billions of dollars to foreign governments but the government would receive billions of dollars in royalties that could be used to fund alternative energy research as well as transportation.

Hey, MIke in Syracuse, how about admonishing the posters who refer to Democrats as "Stupid" "Mushy headed liberals" and "DemocRATS".

Or the posters on this topic who refer to Obama as "boy", or say he has a "nice shoeshine shuffle", or wonder why CNN is still in "Black History Month".

You want to say he has no experience, fine. I can say McCain has the wrong kind of experience and he has taken his experience and flopped on his beliefs to make Rush, Hannity, Coulter, and O'Reilly happy.

But the posters who say he is going to bring the country to ruin or turn it into an Islamic state are beyond pathetic.

Exactly how is Saint Obama going to get the rest of the world to give up its chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons? Promise them all free health care? And after he's disarmed the United States, who will he turn to for defense, his military-hating buddies like William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn?

What a naive fool. Nations that have such weapons will not give them up... nor will the United States. He can sing Kumbaya all he wants, but no U.S. Congress, even one run by the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, will support the total nuclear disarmament he has suggested. Obama would be up against tremendous opposition if he tries such a move, and in doing so he'll certainly insure a loss of seats for the democrats in the 2010 elections.

For those of you who wrote (or believe) that "...Obama has plans to secure these weapons," exactly what are his "plans?" He doesn't have any plans, he simply offers empty promises and sophomoric platitudes that gullible people accept at face value. "Please destroy all your nasty weapons and we'll double foreign aid to your country" is not a plan, it's a useless plea from a weak-kneed fool. The people who believe he can eliminate these weapons are the same people who think a federal ban on handguns will prompt the criminal to turn in their weapons and apply for 9-to-5 jobs.

If Obama thinks what he is looking at are part of nuclear weapons we are in real trouble if he is elected President, since he would not know a nuke from an artillary shell casing!

CNN is a comfortable mouthpiece for Barack Obama. I want to know why Senator Lugar is appearing on Barack's advertisement. Barack you can use your own senators like John Kerry or Ted Kennedy. You will get more votes. Do not think you are bipartisan. You are a left wing liberal and you will always be. I want to see if CNN publish these comments. I am sure not.

A nice start for national security would be for this clown to attend a meeting of the committee on Afghanistan that he's the head of. Oh, but wait he's too busy attending press events for his wife.
    Just say Nobama '08.

    Hey Obama supporters,

If Obama was 70+ years old, you would point out to his wisdom.

If McCain was black, you would say respect the elders and specially an american hero.

So lets stop with the age discrimination.

    Dear Mr. Terrorist,

Please handover your nuclear weapons. We've destroyed all of ours and really want to rid the world of nuclear weapons. So what do you say? Want to give us yours now and quit with the whole "destroy Israel and America" thing? No? That's fine too.

Wow said: "Pakistan has 90 Nukes… maybe he can lock those down when he invades them… even though they are on our side.

One question...what exatly has Pakistan done for us lately? Or at all? And arent the Taliban remnants in the border regions of PAkistan.?Their leadership sheltesr these people and then they cross the border and kill 9 of our guys.

I think we have to re-examine to what extent Pakistan is really 'on our side'. Obama is absolutely right.
