Obama debuts second national security spot in two days

Obama’s second national security spot this week focuses on loose nukes.
Obama’s second national security spot this week focuses on loose nukes.

(CNN) — Barack Obama has released his second ad with a national security focus in as many days Wednesday, amid a week of events designed to highlight the presumptive Democratic nominee’s credentials on that front.

In the new 30-second spot, “Changing World” – which, like “America’s Leadership” Tuesday, does not mention Iraq and Afghanistan - Obama again highlights his work on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to end the smuggling of loose nuclear weapons. The ad debuted on the same day he held a summit on the issue in Indiana, featuring prospective VPs Senator Evan Bayh and former Senator Sam Nunn as panelists.

“Forty years ago it was missile silos and the Cold War,” says the announcer, over images of missiles and other security threats. “Today, it’s cyber attacks…loose nukes…oil money funding terrorism.

“Barack Obama understands our changing world. On the Foreign Relations Committee, he co-sponsored a law to lock down loose nuclear weapons. As president, he’ll rebuild our alliances to take out terrorist networks, and fast-track alternatives so we stop spending billions on oil from hostile nations,” continues the announcer. “New leadership for a changing world.”

The ad will run on national cable starting Thursday.

The funny thing about the HRC as VP debate...had she run a clean campaign and not ripped Obama apart for faults that she herself shares, and had her supporters not been so devisive, I think most everyone would have supported her as VP. But her attacks against him, and her supporters childish irrational behavior are the biggest factors against her becoming the VP pick.
It's sad that she and her supporters shot her chances to pieces.

To those of you who keeping insisting that Barack need to make Hillary his VP; get over yourselves already. My goodness it has been a month now this is more than enough time for you to heal and move on. Barack don't owe Hillary anything she LOST! It is obvious he don't need her, this is a smart and intelligent man who knows how to make sound decisions and have good judgment, something Hillary didn't have. So why would he need her? All Hillary have going for herself is the Clinton name and a name is NOT something we need; we need someone with substance and the ability to run the country with great judgment and wisdom. Hillary has proved by her campaign management and the handling of her money she has neither one. So, please I am feed up with the Hillary mess; take your vote somewhere else if you don't want to join us in getting Senator Obama in to try an at less get some of the mess Bush has made. I can't even give him the title President because he does not deserve the acknowledgement.

MJ said : "The overwhelming majority of the military does not want this man to be the Commander in Chief.

So you talked to a statistically significant sample of military folks from all over the world and in all branches of the service? Wow, pretty impressive.
So how big was your sample, what were your survey questions and what were the % of respondants that convinced ytou that the majority dont want Barack.

Oh, thats right, your just an arm chair statistician who talked to his brother-in-law in the salvation army who said he didnt like Barack.

Nice try, you have nothing, man

It's nice to see that Bush is following Obama's advice and talking to "enemies" (without preconditions I might add) instead of attacking them. Why continue to support cold war policies McCain? Even Bush is starting to get a clue. I can't wait for you to flip flop on this one.

    Tim, Seattle...
They allow us bases there and access to the mountains... and have since the start. We were able to invade Afghan out of their country. They've caught, detained and worked with our intell since the beginning... and to my knowledge they've not harbored anyone.

The northern mountain region is tough... which may explain why we struggle there... but Pakistan has been "Fairly" easy to work with... as easy as any mid east country we've dealt with.

Not to mention the 90 Nukes... if they we on the terrorist side... things could get a lot worse very quickly... so I'd imagine it would be in our interest to keep things cooprative... IMHO of course.

Dang... I completely thought this guy was wrong for the POTUS and still feel like he is a liberal effete that does not have an inkling of empathy for joe sixpack. BUT.... the haters and numbskulls here have made me for him, just to see them choke on thier own bile.

Do I think he is naive, effete, northern liberal, Woody Guthrie or Mother Jones worst nightmare... yes. But at least he doesn't call day 'night' and up 'down' or just throw out insults for no reason at all. If ya'll vote for a candidate just because you hate the other one, you are really setting this country up for more grief than we already have.

If McCain gets into office I wonder if he will keep spending our money to pay off the groups in Iraq to keep down the violence instead of coming up with a real solution. We could stay the Republican course pay our enemies, borrow more money from our other enemies and drive the country into the ground economically .But they're rich so thats all that matters.

Remember Bin Laden stated they would destroy the U.S. economy , Chavez stated $200.00 a barrel oil do they no our elected officials better than we do?

I know all of people older than McCain, but most of them would say that they are to old to be president. It is a fact of life that when you are old that you don't think as fast. Take for instance the Question McCain was asked about Viagra being covered by insurance and Birth Control not. THAT WAS A SCARY MOMENT. He looks like the wheels feel off of his thinking machine and noone was there to bail him out. And what about him talking about Checoslovakia.(I probably did not spell that right) He is suppose to be an EXPERT on Foreign Policies. But he doesn't even remember that that country has not been around since the early 90's. He not only said it once but twice!!! Do you really want him talking to other foreign dignataries? Do you really want him representing our Country? Even though Obama does not have foriegn experience; I would rather have him as President. He has alot of good Ideas and he is smart enough to listen to advise and be able to process it. My dad had dementia. We knew it when he was 80, but It had actually started in his early 70's. It happens gradually over time. You just do not wake up one day and have dementia.

Good attempt to use nuclear weapons to scare voters in to voting for him. Unfortunately his plan to hurry up the withdraw from Iraq shows short-sightedness and inexperience when it comes to national security. The Iranians would love to see us leave and would seized the power vacuum in Iraq. Don't elect him because he is black, but elect him if he is qualified.

Please tell me ONE thing that McCain has done...not that he was a POW or he supported a surge when Iraq was falling apart or he works across party lines.

Please tell me ONE pice of legislation that he sponsored and which was past that demonstrated bipatisan support, helped Americans be safer and was part of the present administration. McCain is the empty suit with nothing but rhetoric!!
