Bush keeps Cheney's CIA leak interview under wraps

President Bush used executive privilege to avoid turning over FBI interviews with Vice President Cheney.

President Bush used executive privilege to avoid turning over FBI interviews with Vice President Cheney.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Bush has blocked the release of Vice President Dick Cheney's interview with investigators probing the leak of a CIA agent's identity, invoking executive privilege Wednesday to keep that document and others under wraps.

Bush asserted the privilege claim at the request of Attorney General Michael Mukasey, who has been under pressure from a congressional committee to turn over the transcript of Cheney's interview, White House spokesman Tony Fratto said. Mukasey argued that releasing the transcript would discourage
future witnesses from being questioned outside grand jury proceedings.

The records stem from the investigation into the 2003 exposure of CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson, whose husband had accused the Bush administration of twisting the intelligence used to justify the invasion of Iraq. Cheney's chief of staff, Lewis "Scooter" Libby, was convicted of obstructing justice and perjury in connection with the disclosure, but was not charged with leaking her name.

This will be John McCain if he wins. He and his VP will be listening to each other because no one else will be listening to them.

In my opinion Dick Cheny, Karl Rove,Lewis "Scooter" Libby and the rest of Bush administration belong to Jail, they should not be running this country. Shame on those who voted for Bush twice, and I will bet they will vote for Mccain again, this people need to get their foot out of their A*ss and think before they vote this year.

The entire administration has done whatever they want and thumbed their nose at the American people and at the Congress. The thing that I find appalling is that Congress let them get away with it. Impeach Cheney and Bush, I say.

Why would Bush be willing to turn over something that would hurt him. He has never been honest and never will be.

    Dear Bush:
Stop talking, stop thinking, and stop making decisions. Just go to the Lincoln bedroom and pretend you're sleeping. We won't mind.

If you need help packing your bags, let us know. We can't wait to help you go back to Crawford.

This is an example of the Dems grabbing at anything to make Bush look bad, every Admin can fire any US attorney they want (Clinton fired every one of them when he came in). Does any of this help reduce the price of gas or help improve the economy? No wonder the Congress has the lowest approval ratings ever, they have done nothing that they promised. They said they would stop the war in Iraq, but have given Bush everything he asked for and sorry for you people who write in these comments WE ARE WINNING THERE despite all the screaming from the Dems. They said they would reduce gas prices, the price is up about 2 dollars a gallon since they took controll and all they do is say no to Bush about drilling and Nukes. Judging by what these commenters here and other places are saying, all the Dems have been successful diong is whipping up a frenzy of pure irrational hatred for Bush.

No, they haven't made enough money. Why do you think they want off shore drilling? They are two Oil men who care nothing for this country. They only care about themselves, what is of benefit to them, and lining their own pockets.

I am voting for MCcain because this is the kind of government that he WILL provide; and that is the kind of government that knows how to protect the American people who matter.

All Obama wants to do is protect the common folks – sick!

I hope they all go where they belong right after Obama is sworn into office...Levenworth Prison. But, my guess is that Dick Cheney will flee to Dubai to escape American justice.

This should be good news for Hillary Supporters.

Hillary already stood hand in hand with Bush/Cheney and proudly voted for the unnecessary war which has led to the deaths of over 4000 US soldiers and, by global news sources, well over half a million Iraqi women, children and other non-combatants.

And now many of Hillary’s supporters are flocking to McCain and the second coming of Bush/Cheney in an attempt to empower their deep-seeded bitterness and conceal their own isolationist fear and bigotry.
This is what you want Hillary Supporters! Be Proud!

    And God Bless America!
