John McCain says we suceeded in Iraq. We won. Question: what did we win? Are we safer, our economy is better, jobs are plentiful, US soldiers are not being killed, Iraq is a democracy and giving us a discount on oil, did they give us an oil well and some of the billions of dollars profits.? Oh yeah! and Osama Bin Laden has been captured, killed or is on death row. Am I missing something?

I am a Republican, I would have voted for Hillary. I will not vote for Obama. His supporters truly scare me. Their arrogance is breathtaking, including on this very page, Obama '12? He hasn't even won the first election yet. Please, get your heads out of the sand. McCain is not that good, but he's better than Obama.

Let me ask all of the "political experts" on these posts one question? When was the last time you ran for elected office to change something? Let me guess........ummmm most likely never!?! You all think it's just easy to end a military conflict and bring the troops home. Let's load em up on buses Betsy and they'll all be home by dinner time. Or to wave a magic wand and change the economy around. Well it ain't that simple Buckwheat.

Whether this war was justified or not we are there. Sure, we could all be quiters and bring the troops home but that's not what I thought America was all about. I guess that means we should close up all of our overseas bases and bring all of the troops home. We tried isolationship once....that thought ended with the beginning of WW2. History shows that dictators need to be held in check or things get out of control.

By the way, did any of you read the article that talked about troops in Iraq wanting to get over to Afganistan where the real fighting was going on? No one has thought to ask the troops that are actually in theater if they think what they are doing is a good thing or not.

Hello people.....do you know why the heck a VET a POW would vote
against a GI BILL???????????????????????????????????????

It was a darn good reason. If you were a soldier who had served for 10-15 years and a new recruit just serves for 6 months---should he or she be entitled to the EXACT same benefits, no. Military need incentive to retain their troops-----this is way over our heads!!

McCain gets it.

Democratic Party, I use to admire---they had their shot. We signal our leaders in Washington that we wanted change we got Nancy Pelosi and her actors and nobody has changed anything. I'd rather an experienced realist to be in the Oval Office, then an ameateur who still gets lost in the halls of the Capitol.

As usually the Obama supporters get their facts to 30 sec sound bits. The reason McCain voted against the proposed GI bill had to do with what the bill had in it. Boneheads

How sad... every time a liberal gets challenged on his voting record or positions, it's a "malicious attack add." There is nothing slanderous here- just some truth about Obama's meager record.

And give me a break on McCain not supporting veterans and GI Bills. These comments are misleading. McCain was pushing for and holding out for a FAIR GI Bill- one that would reward vets for the number of years they served our country. The bill he was against would have given the same benefits for those that only served one or two years. This would not promote re-enlistment, and NOT be good for our country or our national security... and be UNFAIR to veterans that served through multiple deployments.

I'm happy to see that the McCain campaign is taking some initiative here. While Obama is certainly intelligent, charismatic, and silver tongued, those qualities don't necessarily make for a good president (of course they can't hurt either). Rather, the best candidate and future president has articulable, realistic policy goals coupled with the experience to put them into action. Thus, of the two candidates, John McCain is clearly the preferred choice, particularly when it comes to foreign policy matters.

Same old disgraceful attack ads. This comes from both ways though. Both of these candidates are going completely against what they had pledged at the start of their respective campaigns. People tend to forget that Obama does the same thing!!! I guess everyone only sees one side though. Typical. Blind-sided people that can be persuaded into buying a ketchup popsicile while wearing a white tshirt. You people will see that by voting either a democrat or republican in doesn't mean change. Labeling one's political party as "stands for change" is simply a ploy. McCain supporters are quick to tout that my candidate has experience. While Obama supporters say my candidate stands for change. It's all a bunch of crap!!!! Both of these guys have flip-flopped on soooo many issues I can't keep count anymore. I can't believe these two candidates are my main options this year. I'm so dissappointed. Obama will probably win, and then after no change happens the whole process of everyone getting all ticked off again will happen yet again. I'm gonna laugh my butt off when it does to, and stand back and say...."told ya so." Yo want real change people.

VoteBob Barr 2008(L). At least he doesn't flip-flop and pander to everyone's concerns.

You people need to throw out these 2 candidates "voting" record because they are meaningless. There are a lot of our representatives and senators that don't vote in favor of a particular bill because half of congress has added their own pork to it. Has anyone actually looked at the GI Bill McCain didn't support or bother to research the reason he voted no? I doubt it. If you don't want to throw the voting records out then I guess you won't have to count very high to count Obama's. Heck, he's probably spent more time campaigning than he has in the Capital building.

Look, both of these candidates are far from what this country needs. McCain can't remember anything and Obama sits on whatever side of the fence will get him the most votes. If this country wants to turn the economy around and save face globally I say we have 2 people run the country. Pick one of the brightest CEOs that's run a large company successfully to worry about the economy and pick one that has great charisma and tact to take care of foreign policy issues.

Otherwise Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck here are going to just keep steering us down the same old road.

No more Republithugs. There is a difference between a conservative and a fascist. I, too, am against "funding the troops". Without any money, we'll have to bring them home where they belong. It is WAY past time for criminal "republican conservatives" to be exposed for what they are: fascists. This election is going to be a blow-out. GO OBAMA!!!!

Every speech and ad by John McCain is the same tired old criticism of Obama's lack of foreign policy experience. Yet, everything Obama has said has come to fruition and John keeps sounding more and more like Obama... "we'll send three grigades to Afganistan."

Is all he has to offer is attacks on Obama? I have yet to hear or see a policy. Maybe this is just McCain being McCain.

"Where's the beef?" Obama has left no finger prints so far in his very brief political career. Like McCain or not, he has a track record. Obama is running a very astute campaign on vague promises. . Trouble is we will not know what he really stands for until / if he wins the election. His "change" may not be what we're hoping for.

Do it yourself July 18th, 2008 4:45 pm ET

The democrats should have run away with the election this year.
With the rating Bush has this should have been on a silver platter for the Dems.

But no… they pick this far left wackjob with no experience that falls on his face the second a teleprompter isn't in front of him.

When the Republicans win this I'm gonna be rolling on the floor laughing… I simply cannot believe the democratic party could blow it this year!
=======================================================

In the unlikely event Obama doesn't win the Presidency, you can thank fools like yourself, and all of those extreme radical Hillary fundamentalists that blindly cast their vote for McAncient out of their sorest of sore-loser spite.

This shows the McCain campaign's desperation and over the next month expect his foreign policy team’s wailings to get far worse. Randy Scheunemann and Kori Schake, McCain’s senior foreign policy advisors, could not comprehend the current political environment well enough to anticipate Obama’s strategy to use the success of the surge in Iraq to his benefit in focusing the campaign on Afghanistan.

In the past week Obama has shown McCain, Scheunemann and Schake to be incompetent in making strategy as they mindlessly ignored the big picture of the evolving conditions of the war. McCain’s senior policy advisors lost their grip on strategic reality because they were persuaded of their own ingenuity when, rather than planning for a long campaign to counter a tough and determined opponent, all they did for past few months was respond to Obama’s actions with pithy put-downs, hackneyed slogans, and now over the top attack ads.

Finally, the truth comes out about Obama flip flop... we don't need an inexperienced radical left wing president, especially one that will tax to death this already fragile economy. Obama never held one hearing as the head of the european affairs committee, and set a record as the most liberal senator ever... a feat considering he refused to vote on anything where he'd actually have to stick his neck out.

No second term for Jimmy Carter!

Long live McCain!

Obama disgusts me!

He is only doing this because 99% of the troops have zero respect for the Democratic Party and their puppet Obama.

This was just a political ploy by the Democrats and now they are eating it up. As a member of the Arm Forces the Democrats and Obama make me sick to my stomach.

Well this artical has helped convince me. Senator McCain is a brave and couragous veteran. I have nothing but the greatest respect for him. Had the current administration not have made such a mess in Iraq and of this economy I might have voted for him. President Reagan restored my faith in the party, but now that is all gone. Maybe Senator Obama is the right man for the job after all. We had no business in Iraq in the first place. No WMD's and oil is never a good reason to go to war.
Support our country, go after the people who attacked us. Support our soldiers for the sacrifices they make for us every day. Quit wasting their lives on a fools errand. Get us out of where we do not belong, and finish the job in Afganistan. Let our soldiers win the war. They are professionals, let them do their jobs. Then bring them home and greet them with the respect and love they have more than earned.
Quit sending all our jobs overseas so they will have something to return to, besides debt. Also when you see a soldier out in public, take a minute and Thank her or him for their service.

"McCain's surge is working? It delivered Iraq into the hands of the Iranians…"

Really, General?

Care to back that up with anything remotely resembling fact? You know what those are, yes? You know, those things that lefties keep tripping over?

First it was "War for Oil"; then it's "For his daddy"; then it's "We've lost the war"; etc.

Please.

Mccain has not done half the things that constantly complains about
concerning Obama, what has he done for the veterans except show them a harder way after all of their service. What makes him the best
choice on the war- being a prisoner of war does not give him credentials for being a president. America wake up before we have another 8 of the same old Bush policies which what got us in this mess in the first place. Wake up america and vote Obama one thing for sure he can't do any worse that the nut thats in there.

Obama's claims to be somehing "new" not your "same old same old" politician. Sat in a church and listened to a racist preacher for years, yet he never heard the message? Lie. He's changed his position on many different issues on the last year. Yes, everyone changes a position at some point or another, but he's done it so many times lately, it's obvious what he is doing; making himself more appealing to voters.

WAIT! Isn't that the same thing politicians have been doing for years? I guess that makes good old Barack the "same old same old" except he has NO EXPERIENCE!

This country is nearly bankrupt, Obama and his socialist ideas will complete it.

What decade are ya'll living in? For starters Obama wants to bring the troops home, ok yeah we could do that, but when we have to go back and it's 10 times worse you'll know why. McCain wants to go in and finish this thing. MC CAIN all the way

How stupid does the McCain campaign think we are? I am very tired of the erroneous "sound bites" that their ads and and McCain's speeches put forth. This is another good example of only telling part of the story. At the very least, it's the pot calling the kettle black. I wish McCain would quit trying to drum up negatives about Obama and just stick to telling us what his policies are. It's starting to look like he doesn't really have policies or issues, and is avoiding stating anything by just knocking Obama and the democrats.

Its funny how Obama supporters attack McCain for his policies, record, and vision for America. Yet, McCain supporters can only attack Obama supporters. Just shows what type of people are supporting these two candidates. And people say that Obama supporters are part of a "cult"---McCain supporters should look in the mirror.

Obama is against the military. He would gut military spending to bring his Socialist utopia to all the "people". lol The lefties on here are so funny with all the little tantrums they throw. Don't worry you have 4 more months to play nice because come Nov you will have one BIG tantrum after McCain sends this clown back to his socialist republic of Chicago.

If Obama becomes our president, maybe--just maybe--the world will realize that the USA has come back to its senses. Maybe we can regain the respect of the world. We do not need the approval of the world, but it surely helps if we can go to our erstwhile allies in times of need.

McCain is a tired old man. I am so sick of hearing about his military service. I commend him for the service but my dad was an officer and retired with 21yrs in the Army. Obama should not disgust anyone. MCain is the disgusting one, McCain is now wanting more air time because Obama has been receiving all of the time on the major networks. This man whines about everything. He is a grumpy old geezer. My dad is not voting for him, and I know many veterans who can't stand him. McCain could care less about veterans benefits.

Please all of you Obama hater's on this blog are going to be very surprised come November. He will win by a big LANDSLIDE! You can bet on that!

Obama is a disgrace. If elected, we are really screwed.

He is ignorant on every issue. Without a teleprompter, he's
lost and incoherent to say the least. Just pay attention to
his answers when questioned about anything.

The media has been giving him a free hide so far.
He must be exposed and stopped.

I am not a fan of McCain.
