Why do some people seem to think Obama should take it personally whenever somebody says they don't want to be VP? There are many other things to consider besides whether they personally like Obama or whether they think like a PUMA freak and hate his guts – such as:
1) whether they want to expose themselves and their family to this kind of scrutiny
2) whether they want to put in the hard work of campaigning
3) whether they feel healthy enough
4) whether they have some dirt in their background that they don't want to bring the ticket down with (it's quite possible that some don't want to do it because they like Obama, not because they hate him)
5) whether they've already done this for 8 years, in the case of Al Gore, and would therefore be bored with it
6) what they leave behind (e.g., a Senate seat, or whatever their current occupation is)
7) how it affects their ability to pursue their own interests

And there may other considerations as well. Believe me, life is not just a big Hillary vs. Obama game of ego hockey.

I think most people believe global warming... the argument is if we are causing it... or if we could even do anything about it. If it's natural... (which history shows its happened before)... then all we can do is watch.

Why hasn't any of the MSM talked about this new cover of the Inquirer magazine. "Plot to kill Obama" when his plane had the emergency landing. I really, really hope this story is not true.

As a Hillary backer, I really don't mind if Obama picks someone like Bayh as VP. The only person OUT OF THE QUESTION is Sam Nunn, mainly because of his homophobia. He should also pick someone proven to have won votes for him. An example would be McCaskill, who delivered Missouri for him. Richardson and Biden don't seem to be able to get that many votes. Richardson did not help him at all in Puerto Rico, for instance. Bayh could deliver Indiana, and possibly some other Midwestern states for him. Strickland could deliver Ohio and Rendell could deliver Pennsylvania. Hillary could at least deliver Arkansas for Obama, and maybe Kentucky and West Virginia, as well as Ohio and Pennsylvania. Gore could play some other part in Obama's administration, should he win. Hillary, as a Senator, could be placed in charge of health care reform task force. This may sound wild, but maybe McCain could be Secretary of Defense, since he is up on national security issues, although not so good on others, such as "hillarycare." Obama said himself that he could bring even the opposition into his administration.

He ALREADY was VP 2X and ran in 2000 in the most bitterly contested election ever. Why would he want to be VP 3x?

However Gore would be a perfect fit for Sec. of Energy.

For the very FIRST time in Democratic History, the DNC did NOT follow the rules. Simply, the previous closest election that went to the Convention floor was a 700 delegate vote difference. This one was 200.
It SHOULD have gone to the convention for a vote, plain and simple.

It is astonishing to me that the press is falling all over themselves about who the VP is going to be for the candidates. It's childish and mind numbing gossip that is filling the airwaves, with what could be JOURNALISM.

Al Gore can do some wonderful good in this country, without being VP. I would hope he could accept a job as Secretary of Energy or something like that. He could be a wonderful advisor.

We have to have a good solid energy policy, with goals to be oil independent within ten or twenty years. Completely independent, using alternative energies, solar and wind, nuclear, plug in cars, CNG and LPG cars. It can be done. It might take a bit of sacrifice, but we need to do it NOW. We should have done it back in the 70s. Now we really need to do it.

This does not come as much of a suprise. The biggest suprise to me was when Gore did not run for President this year....pretty sure that would have been a landslide victory. I am also not sure if a continued list of people saying "No Way" is going to be good for Obama. Right now he has a lead and when you are ahead in the 4th quarter, you can either rest your starters or leave them in and run up the score thereby not giving you opponet a chance to comeback. Obama should pick Hillary now and watch the polls go double digit in his favor and shut the door on McCain. If he does not, he is going to find his lead gets smaller and smaller and then experience will show its true colors.

I am a Hillary supporter, but have not yet decided how I will vote in November.....trust me though getting on a plane to run around in the desert and claim you care about Foreign Relations and would be the best Commander in Chief does not impress me. Obama should elevate the EPA to a Cabinet-level position and make Al Gore the first Secretary of the Environment.

I think it is a shame that he won't consider the position of VP. As bad as our planet is, our energy woes, and the conflicts globally that are tied to fosil fuels, this would be the perfect segway to communicate change.
My personal opinion is that he would be a great VP and should choose his words carefully and not be so quick to say no. The planet needs Al Gore and our country needs him to refocus and rebuild.

Gore's legacy will have nothing to do with politics, although his tenure as Vice President gave him a platform from which to begin. His role in the future will be that of a statesman who works tirelessly for the dual causes of energy independence and environmental policy reform.
