Why all of the Obama buzz?

Sen. Barack Obama has received a lot of media attention during his overseas trip.
Sen. Barack Obama has received a lot of media attention during his overseas trip.

(CNN) – Sen. Barack Obama’s overseas trip has created more buzz than Sen. John McCain’s foreign travels because the storyline is more interesting, according to Michael Crowley, senior editor of The New Republic.

“When McCain goes overseas, it's sort of ‘dog bites man.’ There's not really that much of an interesting angle to it,” Crowley said Sunday on CNN’s “Reliable Sources”.

“This is an incredible story, the first African-American nominee going abroad after a long period of anti-Americanism, promising a new start and a new direction for the country. There's so many fascinating angles, whereas McCain is sort of offering somewhat more of a continuation of what we already know.”

Obama left Afghanistan Sunday to travel to the Middle East and Europe. He’s also expected to travel to Jordan, Israel, Germany, France and England.

Katie Couric, Charlie Gibson and Brian Williams will all cover Obama from overseas.

“What that means, of course, is that the ‘CBS Evening News,’ ‘NBC Nightly News’ and ABC's ‘World News’ will be broadcast from Europe and the Middle East this week, throwing an even brighter spotlight on Barack's (Obama’s) excellent adventure,” said Howard Kurtz, host of “Reliable Sources.”

McCain, however, was met by zero anchors on his foreign trips since he became the presumptive Republican nominee, Kurtz pointed out.

Obarter going overseas is more newsworthy because Obarter is very much more inexperienced in foreign policy.

Maybe some of the media that still kinda supports Hillary is hoping for a major blunder.

Or just maybe the "Big 3" (well, NBC, CBS, ABC raelly not the big 3 anymore) are intent on pressing the Obarter candidacy, short of coming out and actually endorsing the Charlatan.

Zero anchors covered McCain 'cause he's just not as interesting as Obama, plus McCain didn't invite them. Obama did.

McCain has the worst grades from top military veteran groups.

    — Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America gave McCain a grade of D for his record of voting against veterans. (By contrast, Obama got a B+.)

    – Disabled Veterans of America noted McCain’s dismal 20 percent voting record on veterans’ issues. (Obama had an 80 percent.)

    – In a list of “Key Votes,” Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) notes McCain “Voted Against Us” 15 times and “Voted For Us” only 8. (Obama voted for VVA 12 times, and against only once.)

First McCain said Obama was irresponsible for saying he would attack Al Queida in Pakistan if their was solid intelligence. Since calling Obama 'irresponsilbe' our miliarty has attacked Al Queida 4 times in Pakistan.

McCain calls Obama naive and reckless for wanting to set a timetable to get out of Iraq. Next thing you know the sovereign Iraq government demands we set a timetable and Bush has given in but would rather call it a "time horizon".

McCain calls Obama reckless and an appeaser for saying he will sit down with leaders of countries unfriendly to the U.S. 3 months later the U.S. successfully appeases and negoitiates with N. Korea ('axis of evil') and they begin to dismantle their nuclear plants. Now they are doing the same with Iran.

Obama has been saying Afganistan needs more troops and equipment for a year now while McCain barely mentioned it. Obama makes a big speech about it and McCain follows Obama's coattails and states what Obama has been saying all along.

They can try to "SPIN" it all they want but Obama has been right in National Security and Foreign Affairs after all while John McCain has been wrong and many issues he's supposed to be so experienced on.

I guess John McCain will finally realize that nobody likes him. It doesn't matter if you are a Democrat or Republican, conservative or liberal: no one truly believes that McCain will be a better President than Barack Obama. Members of his own party do not even endorse him wholeheartedly. It is contrived and fake whenever we see members of his party introduce him before one of his speeches. He can't even remember the correct thing to say. If people were thinking of the country and all of its problems, instead of being selfish and acting like babies, McCain would be more than finished in this race.

Expect little but media suck-up puff pieces on Obama until election day. Heaven forbid they'd actually analyze his naive policies and proposals and explain their (bad) long-term effects. (Not that they'll do that with McCain either, of course. It's easier to repeat sound-bites than analyze economic policies when you never studied basic economics.)

Besides the historic nature of Obama's presidential candidacy, it has been reported by other news outlets that the Obama campaign invited the press to join him and the McCain campaign did not take the same initiative. In any event, while Obama seems to be receiving more press coverage, it certainly is not more favorable than that given to McCain. A great example was today's "Reliable Sources" program.

In the past month I have been to both Canada and all over the Caribbean. All people, black white Latino Asian, that I have met ask about Barack Obama and how wonderful it would be to see a big change in Washington D.C. Just him being in office will make leaders around the world more willing to negotiate with the U.S. There will be no more of George Bush tactics of attempting to dictate to other sovereign nations and literally pissing them off.

You attract more bees with honey, not vinegar. Why vote for a war-mongering panderer like McCain when we have a candidate who will compromise and work toward bipartisan unity?

CNN please post the racial statements Obama has stated in his books. It would give some insight to the true man Obama really is, before they vote for a President!

I think it is great, that he really is being very much in touch with both the military and the leaders of foreign countries. Peace require courage and fantastic listening skills, and those skills will make Obama a fantastic leader in the history of United States.

Ignorance and very old stubborness from the Republicans, John Mccain and George W. Bush have divided this country and created foreign enemies far too long. We need change, prosperity and peace. Another 4 or 8 years of Republican administration will never give us that.

Please vote for a Democrat. Vote for Obama!

McWar doesn't know how to play basketball the troop found him too boaring and they all fear him because he will create another war and won't know the definition of success. With OBAMA they've enjoyed eating together and playing together which is good for their moral.

To answer the question I give you this anecdote:
I was in Washington DC a couple weeks ago and I went into a corner convenience store to buy a bottled drink. There were many T-Shirts for sale at the front counter. I couldn't find my size in one with Obama on it and so I asked the clerk if there were any more. He confided to me that the Obama T's had sold really quickly but that he hadn't sold any of the McCain shirts. Granted that was DC, but I was in the area nearer to the Mall and where the tourists go. It wasn't just the indigenous DC citizenry that didn't want the face of McCain on their chests.

The Bush administration and McCain, are in a desperate mode again to spin and spin every freaking word of Maliki's statements of a timeline withdrawal. It is clear that the Iraqis favor Sen. Obama's 16-month timetable!!! The Whitehouse frantically called poor Maliki to take back his words of timetable withdrawal to save the old Sen. McCain from looking like a moron!! This is the Bush Puppetry in the works.....
