(CNN) – Sen. Barack Obama’s overseas trip has created more buzz than Sen. John McCain’s foreign travels because the storyline is more interesting, according to Michael Crowley, senior editor of The New Republic.
“When McCain goes overseas, it's sort of ‘dog bites man.’ There's not really that much of an interesting angle to it,” Crowley said Sunday on CNN’s “Reliable Sources”.
“This is an incredible story, the first African-American nominee going abroad after a long period of anti-Americanism, promising a new start and a new direction for the country. There's so many fascinating angles, whereas McCain is sort of offering somewhat more of a continuation of what we already know.”
Obama left Afghanistan Sunday to travel to the Middle East and Europe. He’s also expected to travel to Jordan, Israel, Germany, France and England.
Katie Couric, Charlie Gibson and Brian Williams will all cover Obama from overseas.
“What that means, of course, is that the ‘CBS Evening News,’ ‘NBC Nightly News’ and ABC's ‘World News’ will be broadcast from Europe and the Middle East this week, throwing an even brighter spotlight on Barack's (Obama’s) excellent adventure,” said Howard Kurtz, host of “Reliable Sources.”
McCain, however, was met by zero anchors on his foreign trips since he became the presumptive Republican nominee, Kurtz pointed out.

It has been exciting to watch Senator Obama on his visit with the troops and how was received by a mostly black audience in Kuwait. I know for a fact that black troops are not the majority serving in the gulf region. Does this point to an issue getting the white male vote we have heard of? It may even be a seroius personal security issue for the Senator. I believe he is doing a great job showing the rest of the world what a breath of fresh air he is and why we expect him to be the next President of the United States. "Im Fired Up"

Obama is the new generation leader with smart ideas that the Bushes and McCain are now fellowing.
Americans shouldn't look at Obama history making, because his black. Without doubt he deserve the position he is right now, and don't forget his born to RULE. Obama has attracted the world with his charisma, that alone is an advantage over his opponent John McCain and with this powerful charisma, it would help him polish the respect and values of the American people home and overseas, and to rebuild the damages the Bushes and Republicans have brought upon the Americans.
Old and young folks at home who never travelled out wouldn't understand how the world view American, for these past 7 years of the Republicans. McCain should have distance himself from Bush, and for MaCain to follow the foot steps of Bush, Americans that is absorb inshort its disastrous.
I wonder if the conservatives and haters will find it unfair when large throngs of enthusiastic people show up to greet Barrack in England , France and Germany. The Us media, they probaly feel, should refuse to air this out-pouring of affection for the US presidential candidate....because after-all, they don't vote in US elections. And of course, real patriots could care less what the world thinks of the US. By the way, did we ever get those french-fries renamed???
Why all the buzz? Because the media wants Obama to win. They are clearly on his side and don't even bother to hide it.
McCain-Romney 2008!
It's news because it's new! Well, thanks, Mr. Crowley, for analyzing away for us, and thanks CNN for sharing the fascination.
Dang Nabit I thought Obama went over seas so he could see first hand what is going on over there. Dang Nabit he just went over there to campaign for the president of the United States. Guess he figures he has every state sewed up here so he uses your hard earned money to go campaign over seas. Good boy, now lay down and roll over and keep sending him money.
don't start the revolution without me..........obama 08
Watching the media salivate over dumbama is amazing. I am so glad there is no 'media bias.' The man is as clueless as the major networks.
Quite simply, the prevailing, progressive mentality of the Western world is plain stupid and incredibly naive. How can any person with any insight into history get excited about this man. It is nothing short of a joke that he is even being considered for this position. Then again, the only folks who are excited are deadbeat liberal, fringe radicals who hate the country anyway.
CNN) – Sen. Barack Obama’s overseas trip has created more buzz than Sen. John McCain’s foreign travels because the storyline is more interesting, according to Michael Crowley, senior editor of The New Republic.
Mr McCain made it exciting by keeping count on how long it was taking for Mr Obama to go overseas
McCain, however, was met by zero anchors on his foreign trips ,BECAUSE HE IS A ZERO!!!
He is our next president. God knows why.
Who can blame them? I should think traveling with an 80 something year old man would be pretty boring stuff.
Obama's presidency will be one of hope, change, progress, and the redemption of the United States in the eyes of the world. What is there not be hyped about?
There is buzz about Obama being overseas because people overseas might actually like Obama. That is what makes it news.
Obama is more interesting no matter what he does. We know McCain and he sort of has this lulling personality that is the opposite of excitement. Obama on the other hand, is interesting to listen to, has new ideas, and speaks well.....it's fun to listen. And of course, Obama wants to go in a new direction...that alone is more exciting.
Gee, I wonder who the liberal, biased, unfair and unbalanced media is pushing to become president. Hey Katie, Charlie and Brian why haven't you gone overseas with any other politician?
OBAMA IS NEW TO THE SCENE
The reason the press is not excited by McBush is because they have already had eight years of Bush. Same ol same ol thing.
Well, just follow the money....
Former Rep. Sen. Phil Gramm already said it perfectly, "We've become a nation of whiners" and right now the McCain Campaign is no different.
Why all the Obama buzz? Because everyone knows that Obama is going to be the next President and he actually has a plan, so who cares what McCain does.
What is McCain's plan? Stay the Course! Oh yeah, that did wonders for us in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. We've finished the job and its time for the war profiteers to count their gains and go home and allow the US to withdraw from Iraq. And what's to worry? They'll still have Afghanistan to exploit.
In this story, if you look at the soldiers in the pictures most are black. That by itself is not a problem, but it shows me how staged the trip by Oboma is. Or maybe he couldn't get anyone else to attend his rally. Maybe he can't find others there who want to waste there time playing to the cameras. Maybe others Just don't believe what he says, or at least what he is changing to today.
Maybe the rest of the troops would like to here exactly what change this person is preposing. There has got to be more to the message, saying the word change, yelling the word change, doesn't make change.
Change could be good. Change could be bad. Oboma will not say what changes may come. Because I bevieve he really doesn't know.
phony.
MCSAME IS A FLIP-FLOPPER
“This is an incredible story, the first African-American nominee going abroad after a long period of anti-Americanism, promising a new start and a new direction for the country."
That's why!
Bias? Maybe, but of course this is news for all of the reasons listed above. The newness of Barack, his charisma, the barriers he's broken, the unique situation that he's in to change the course of our history, etc.
McCain simply isn't news, regardless of where he is or what he does. He's more of the same thing that we've seen for the last 8 years, and some would argue for much longer than that.
