(CNN) - There’s been plenty of second-guessing from Republican critics about Barack Obama's large-scale public events and speeches scheduled for his visit to Europe this week - but former President George H.W. Bush isn't one of them.
Asked today whether, as a former head of state who has a sensitivity about protocol, he has any thoughts about the appropriateness of Obama's planned events, the former President replied, "A little jealous, is all."
The former president, who says he's just returned from a visit to Germany's Brandenburg gate, added that Obama will "figure it out."

Obama is getting his "training wheels" during this ONE week jaunt. Are the American taxpayers footing the fill for this learning experience? How many other "training wheels" does Obama need to cover all the issues facing America? We heard he has 300 foreign policy advisers; generally no two of anybody can agree on anything. Why the Obama flip flops? Thankfully, the Olympics are nearly here and we can focus on what is important.
OH GREAT, ANOTHER SENILE...
UNITED WE'RE STRONGER
OBAMA (P) & CLINTON (VP) 2008-2014
NO TO "BUSH II", "McWAR", "BUSH'S-INTENT-FOR-2ND-PARADE-IN-IRAQ"
Finally some honesty about this whole Obamania, there are people out there who are simply jealous of the man ( Hi Hater's)
As well he should be after throwing up on the Japanese Prime Minister Miyazawa. Not exactly the Kodak moment he was looking for.
Sorry, no do-overs: Your son has had plenty and still cain't get it right!
Welcome to reality Mr. Bush. Even a blind man can see that Obama is the way forward.
Republican for Obama!
The media should be punished for this bias reporting. I am disgusted every time I turn on the tv. I have lost all respect. Maybe Fox is the fairest of them all.
Jealous your son ..never made the "grade"....
He'll be in prison soon!!!
haha! old Bush!
I don't get this story...
Why is he jealous?
He didn't do anything for me on the domestic front. But he had a lot of wisdom on foreign policy affairs. He kept Saddam from invading Kuwait, without spending a dime on that mission. He also left Saddam in power because he knew how frigile that region is and Saddam was necessary to keep Iran in check. I have some issues with a few reports I heard about in Central America. But these claims are unproven.
President Bush, Sr., said it all about Obama's opposition. They just like he is, "A litte jealous. is all".
socialists unite...vote obama...the messiah is approaching
Jealous your son ..never made the "grade"….
.......He'll be in prison soon!!!
Jealous of Barack having smarts and his own son being the biggest dunce in America...
I supported and voted for the elder Bush. I can't come close to saying the same for his son and his cowboy policies.
I dread the thought of following up with maverick policies.
Marie in California.....you and many others are sooo have a shock coming in November.....get yourself ready to live in a country governed by someone intelligent, qualified and respected....know you are not used to that considering the poor joke example we have endured from your party for the last 7.5 yrs. But don't worry a new world order is coming. Lead, follow or get out the freaking way!
I do understand how George H. Bush would be jealous of Obama since Barack is well respected and his son (George W.) will be regarded as one of the worse presidents in the US history.
Former Pres. Bush 'a little jealous' of Obama: Why, because Obama has a brain?!?
Now that's a statesman. I don't care what side you're on in politics Bush 1 make is son look like a un-ranked amateur.
He was the head of CIA before he became president, so one got to ask “what was he doing in Germany?”. Anyway, I admire him and his foreign policy as well. Republicans need to chill out!
Annie, Maybe Hillary will explain it to you...
Nobody cares what this old fool thinks.
Even Papa Bush is ashamed of his spawn. Plus, he and Obama have similar philosphies on foreign policies – smart man.
it ment to be a joke, i guess.
he is a good guy. i love this guy.
that is very lovely applause from senior guy to new comer.
