Former Pres. Bush 'a little jealous' of Obama

Former Pres. Bush spoke about Obama Monday.
Former Pres. Bush spoke about Obama Monday.

(CNN) - There’s been plenty of second-guessing from Republican critics about Barack Obama's large-scale public events and speeches scheduled for his visit to Europe this week - but former President George H.W. Bush isn't one of them.

Asked today whether, as a former head of state who has a sensitivity about protocol, he has any thoughts about the appropriateness of Obama's planned events, the former President replied, "A little jealous, is all."

The former president, who says he's just returned from a visit to Germany's Brandenburg gate, added that Obama will "figure it out."

For more on the stagecraft of Obama's world tour, tune into Campbell Brown: Election Center tonight at 8 pm ET.

I am reaching here, but was that meant to be a joke? If so, that was kind of funny! Thank you Mr. Ex Prez. Also your son proves daily why abortion is and should be legal. If only you had the forsight.

    --------------------------------

It's President Bush, not "Mr. Ex Prez". It's foresight, not "forsight".

You are a better poster-child for abortion, since you will amount to nothing close to a two-term President. Probably nothing more than a ticket-tearer at the movie theater.

I have just one request for the Obamabots...

PLEASE be a bit more creative and cut it with the "mcbush" "mcwar" crap...

Seriously you sound like fools...come up with something more unique and accurate

The blind repetition is really irritating, but then again, what can I expect from cult members?

Who even cares what that ineffective Old Geezer thinks. He was a wimp of a 'Caretaker' president. "Read My Lips" indeed. He's what i call a 'high mileage person'-gets more talk per nickel than they are even worth. An example of an Elitist, out of touch, vague, not even a 'decider', ha.

As for Obama's popularity in Europe:

Look at the unemployment rates in Europe, then let me know if you think they have superior knowledge in electing their leaders.

I'm for Obama, but I never had any big issues with George Sr. He was light-years beyond dubya in every way. Ironic that the main motivation factor for dubya wanting the presidency was the old "son trying to outdo the father" syndrome. All he managed to accomplish was to secure a solid hold on last place in the list of greatest presidents. So in that sense he way outdid daddy who is at least 20-25 spots ahead of him

    They are all JEALOUS!

Rather than critiquing his policies (that's right, Obama has actual policies), his opposition makes personal attacks. Even those that claim Obama is an 'empty suit', 'wet behind the ears', or 'hasn't accomplished anything' fail to acknowledge the specifics of his policies in which they disagree. Obama opponents are digesting- in the words of Hillary Clinton- "empty speeches." Let's see who falls next in line after my post with tired rhetoric and personal attacks.

Jealous of what? Obama's water-squirting lapel flower or his over-sized clown shoes?

I think he's jealous that a person so naive to such a leadership position can have such a following with just saying words like "hope"and "change". That a first term Senator can have such a following when he says that he'll only tax the "rich". If you really believe your taxes won't go up, then you too are naive.

    President Bush,

Don't be jealous of Obama. Even we Democrats know that he is a false prophet.

As Knoxville NFIL says, Obama's is the brief history of a weasel who sleazed off with a nomination that he did not earn and does not deserve.

I love reading these comments. Especially from Obama supporters. They are the most ridiculous people ever to have lived. They support a man that has done absolutely nothing in his life. Even as a community organizer the man did nothing. They support a man that spent 20 years in a church that rages hate about the United States. But then the poll numbers reacted and the pastor and the church had to be kicked to the curb. Does that mean his white grandmother has also been kicked to the curb?

All these comments are driving the Obama nuts mad. So log on to you tube and listen to one of those stirring speeches. Hurry along now.

Bush is a" little jealous" because the inexperinced Oboma never has to explain himself or his postions to his kool-aid drinking supporters.
    November will tell the tale.

Jealous?? I don't get it. You got what you wanted – your son is responsible for 10's of thousands of Iraqi and American deaths. You should be ashamed of your son instead. Then again, you were a failure all on your own.

Get real people, he's jealous because the media is picking him for the people, not of the man. Obama doesn't hold a candle to Bush Sr. This is such a one sided media event, everyone thinks Obama is Jesus Christ, wake up people before it's too late.

I HAVE A LOT OF RESPECT FOR BUSH SR.,

HE KNOWS WHEN HE SEES A GOOD MAN .
HE KNOWS WHEN HE SEES A WEAK CANDIDATE.
HE KNOWS WHEN HE SEES A BAD SON.

BUT BEING A REPUBLICAN HE HAS OBLIGATIONS TO FULFILL. WE KNOW SO, I LEAVE WITH THIS ADVICE.

NOBODY'S GONNA KNOW. VOTE WITH YOUR HEART.

    STOP THE MADNESS. VOTE OBAMA.

George Senior knows that Obama will probably not give the German Leader Merkel a Noogie like George Junior did. Nor will Obama refer to the non existant nation of Czechoslavakia like McSenile.

Instead of being jealous of Obama, Big Daddy should be ashamed of his son and what he has done to this wonderful country.

    Another Obamacan.

McWar and his hit piece on Obama that didn't get published in the NYT is the funniest thing this campaign season. The op ed had zero substance, which is right in line with thte entire McCain campaign.
