Okay wait....McCain and Bush said that drilling for oil of shore will not see great residuals for years to come and when they do...it will be a small amount if we even notice at all. Had Bush not allowed US oil refinaeries to shut down and all our oikl to be shipped we wouldn not be in this problem. With that said thises oil companies already have land set aside for them to safely drill for oil, with infastructure already set up. How come they don't want to use that?

Oooooh what has the party done this time ???
Listen carefully, I do. Europe this, Europe that, the New Democratic Party is playing follow the leader, and we are not the leader. What do Europeans pay for gas, I HOPE we will not CHANGE our prices to $8 a gallon. BTW do not listen to me I'm ignorant, uneducated, an emotional wreck and I am very low informed. Thanks to the efforts of previous generations of brave Americans I have the right to vote.

What drivel. I'm surprised he didn't use a picture of Senator Obama with his hands against an oil derrick, physically stopping the oil! Senator Obama is thinking of the future Senator McCain of someone else's pocketbook.....

Drilling for oil here isn't going to help us. We have to stop the need for oil.

Yes, absolutely he is to blame. The netroots, the elite fringe enviromentalists, Pelosi, Dean, Reid and Soros are celebrating the price of gas. Their policies promote even higher gas and food prices. Please do not forget however that they truly answer to a higher power, they decide because they really know what is best for us ignorants and low informed. Instead of negotiating like normal people to get investments for green energy, they will take our money through fees and taxes to fund projects that erode the hard earned rights and freedoms enjoyed by , yes, hard working Americans.

Although I still would prefer a different candidate than Obama as the democrat, the current gas prices have nothing to do with him, and everything to do with our poor decisions in Iraq, and the Enron loophole allowing speculators to wreak havoc with the oil stock.

One question...Who do you think is bankrolling McSame's campaign? If you said BIG OIL, you win! They are not happy just having 60 million acres that they don't use, the want it ALL. I did hear a Republican slip up and say that China and Japan needs more oil. OOPS!

It's funny how when McCain's surrogates are pressed to talk about McCain's plans, they either try to divert the question and bash Obama or say that McCain's plans are works in progress. How pathetic!

When I hear stupid stuff like this it only reinforces what Barack Obama has been saying for so long now, that the trouble we are in is because of the suck in the mud politicians in Washington who have done nothing up till now to stear this country towards an independence of foreign oil. Why whould they, it's only lining their own pockets. Think outside the box has been here for a long time, but has anyone heard it?

This is off-message but I'd like to make a point, if I may. There are people screaming today about the NY Times not accepting McCains editorial, saying that they are biased toward Obama. That really isn't the case. Anyone can submit a piece to any newspaper, saying what they believe, what's on their mind, etc.. Only a few ever get selected. The things that merit attention to the editorial board are new perspectives, new information, and a coherent train of thought. Agreement with any particular position is not often considered. In this case, McCain was clearly repeating an already known position. The Times did the right thing in rejecting it. Thanks.

Just because someone doesn't agree with your opinion does not mean that theirs is "stupid" or "uneducated". Most of you people who post on these sights are some of the most hateful, angry people. Regardless of who wins this country is so screwed up neither of them will be able to do enough to fix it. Common sense would make you think they could have prevented it years ago, the technology is there for greener energy but no one wanted to use it. Do you really think that is going to change anytime soon? Obama is a preacher, a used car salesman, a snake charmer. He has no substance, no real ideas, he has however taken a lot of ideas from other people and tried to make them his own. He has taken credit for things that was not his to take. The man is sef centered and arrogant. McCain is no better, he doesn't care about the people, he cares about "Coporate America" and his own wallet - which I am sure is more his wife's wallet. He has no regard for women's issues. He is old and coming in with old idea. While fresh idea's and outlooks are nice neither one of these candidates can provide it or true change either. It will be another 4 years of economic decline.

98% of the EDUCATED America's know that "off-shore" drilling for oil will NOT help gas prices today. WHY on earth are the Republican's making FALSE statements about this fact? America should be aware that drilling for oil will only help America in the short term, what about the long-term? What about the health of our children and grandchildren? When are we going the let fossil-fuel go, when are we (American's) going to invest in our future? Must we remain IGNORENT to the right-wing ignorent mentality? Fossil fuel is DEAD let it dye without the American people dying off as well.

I'm just speechless...

Say what? The biggest run-up of oil prices in American history occurred under the current administration. Now they're trying to blame it on Obama and the Democrats? Please!
T. Boone Pickens is a conservative Republican and an oilman. What does his current ad say? We cannot drill our way out of this emergency. If a rich, conservative, Republican oilman can figure this out, why can't McCain and Bush?

IF drilling off our shores would give us independence from foreign oil, the ban would have been lifted years ago! The ban was set in place, by........(drum roll) George H. W. Bush! In the late 1980's.

IF we have ALL that oil off shore, the oil companies would have lobbied to have the ban lifted years ago!

IF we have ALL that oil off shore, why put the ban in place?

Aaaaah........ well now, we, better wake up, people! The GOP is starting their lying campaign!

as i said to a friend earlier, obama has zero experience in foreign policy. ZERO. how can anyone in this country say otherwise and truly mean it? if they say so then wheres the proof? mccain has foreign policy experience and that is proven whether you like it or not. you want an inexperienced man to become the leader of the free worlds at a time when all hell is breaking lose? what are you people, stupid AND suicidal?IF there is a mshroom cloud hanging over israel, who do you want to make the decisions that must be made afterwards? if you say obama then you truly are uninformed, blind, living in a fantasy where the words hope and change float before your eyes and you care nothing about this country let alone the people in it. get real people.

At least McCain is talking serious. I am not amused at that awful laughing photo of himself and the General that Obama chose while flying over a war zone. (out of hundreds of other photos) Maybe he would not be so amused if it was his family fighting down there. I am sure my nephew fighting in Iraq does not find it "funny" or "cool" like most of the Obamabots. Heaven help us if he wins--he is starting to like the power of being a "warmonger". Next, Afghanistan surge? What a disappointment this man is.

Come now, open more land for exploration and drilling, it will take 10-15 years if we open up new areas today to produce a barrel of oil. The oil companies are currently sitting of 1000's of pieces of land they have drilling rights to that they have not even bothered to look at. Open up more lands, sounds like a last ditch, land grab by big oil to me.

Let's say we did open up off shore oil drilling and in 15 years had producing wells, where would the oil go? To Americans, or in to the commodity market for world wide sale. I'll give you one guess, it's called free market economy and supply and demand. It would end up being shipped overseas, just like American oil is today.

Grandpa McSame and the Bush administration know that drilling for oil won't lower gas prices and will have no effect on the supply for seven years but McSame is saying this to get our vote so he can perpetuate the Bush disaster on our country.

For 2008 we need Obama!

Abby July 21st, 2008 10:25 am ET

Where exactly is the 'Iraq/Pakistan border’?

Abby...I've been trying to find an Iraq/Pakistan border, as well. All to no avail. Perhaps they're just messing with our minds? Perhaps they are remapping the world to fit their perceptions of it?
Good grief...apparently now I'll have to buy a new atlas!!!

No Obama is not responsibile for the oil prices.
Lets see, could it be Bush, Cheney and don't forget Mc Lame and his dealings with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
99 more days of this bs an we will have a President that is intelligent and cares.
To Mc Lame:
It has already been chosen.

McCain is spreading a bunch of lies. I'll remind you it was Phil Graham, McCain's former economic adviser, that spear-headed the deregulation of the energy industry which helped lead to the Enron disaster, California's blackouts, and an increase in gas prices due to futures speculation. Not to mention that gas prices have increased more than at anytime in history over that last 7 years that Bush and Chaney (both "formerly" in the oil business) have been in power.

If McCain is already lying and trying to deceive the American public now, just image what he'll do if he has the power of the presidency.

Vote Obama!
