pray hard that the FBI, CIA, and the prison guards will NOT follow the guidelines for interrogation you and your buddies wrote.

I watched Obama on the evening news visiting with soldiers overseas.

He looked completely awkard and out of place. There He was all dressed up in a business suit. He looked so distanced from the men and women he was visiting with and I'm sure he just died having to eat a plate of army food with them.
——————————————————-
He got dressed up like that because he had to go and meet the leader of Afgan right after breakfast, ok?

Kelby from Houston, TX   July 21st, 2008 1:10 pm ET

THE IRAQ WAR IS WRONG AND SHOULD BE STOPPED. That's the best comment for any story pertaining to the Iraq war. We were brought there by false statements and it deters us from our real enemies.

Kevin   July 21st, 2008 1:06 pm ET

Since thisis acongressional fact finding mission how about at least a sentence on the other Senators. Oh and all the pictures I have seenwhich show him with troops is small groups with all black troops who would naturally ador him. The one large troop picture was still 95% black. Who is playing the race card now? Go back to the south side of Chicago Barry!

Debby   July 21st, 2008 1:05 pm ET

Good maybe Obama will learn something about Iraq talking to Petreaus. Is Obama flying that helicopter it looks it hahaha.

David Armendale, SF, CA   July 21st, 2008 1:05 pm ET

When asked how many more years US troops might stay in Iraq, John McCain said maybe a hundred. "AS LONG AS Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed, it's fine with me."

Would logic not dictate that the inverse of this conditional statement is that McCain would NOT be fine with troops remaining in Iraq if they ARE being injured or killed?

AS LONG AS means IF.

Duke   July 21st, 2008 1:05 pm ET

Hey CNN,
this is a comment from the person named "I will never drink the Kool-aid"

"Want to save America? Next time you have in up in a chopper, open the door and throw him out.

NOBama"

This is a wonderful and democratic country and we all have an opportunity to give our thoughts - but when a comment like the above stated suggests harm coming to a candidate, I think it's important to investigate those behind the comment.

CNN, I hope the Secret Service is made aware of that comment

REALIST NJ   July 21st, 2008 1:04 pm ET

Chuck Hagel on an Obama ticket…now thats laughable. CHUCK HAGEL IS A CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN!!!! He is also a close friend of John Mccain

HE IS NOT GOING TO BE ON ANY LEFTIES TICKET GET OVER IT.

YOU PEOPLE ON THIS BLOG ARE ON SOME SUBSTANCE.

Obama will lose this election on the first debate with Mccain.

John Mccain 08

Patrick   July 21st, 2008 1:04 pm ET

McCain and the GOP are deperate, hence they will stop at nothing when attacking Senator Obama. Facts are stubborn things, and the facts are that McCain was wrong when he supported the invasion of Iraq, he was wrong when he capitulated to Bush on torture, he was wrong supporting the escalation ("surge" is a BS political term) and McCain has reversed himself on every bill he ever sponsored. The guy is a joke. Senator Obama is the only sane choice when it comes to the presidential election in November.

EWENIKE ROWLAND,italy   July 21st, 2008 1:03 pm ET

here is someone who is not braging about wars and how to win useless senseless war like maccain, but one who is ready to learn ,ready to give great insights about the future of iraqi war_(strategic blunder) from shere common sense and intuition. america here is your next president. let your heads override your hearts and jointly elect a man with great vision for a great country like america. GOD BLESS YOU OBAMA!!!!!

G   July 21st, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Hey Chuck his name is Barack not Barry. Unless you want me to start calling you Chucky call him by his name. And than people wonder why the New Yorker cover was a failure. Unlike jib jab which was very funny. Getting back to the picture they look very comfortable with each other. Petraeus and Obama seem to get along oh no Mccain will be very disappionted he lost his best friend lol.

J. Sully, New York   July 21st, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Hey McSHAME you forgot again!! The generals take orders from the Commander in Chief (Hopefully Obama) not the other way around!!!!

Lena   July 21st, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Do you honestly think we have not been talking with Iran? What rock have you been sleeping under. Obama is an opportunist, pure and simple. We have had people in Afghanistan for years now - we have been in talks with the Iranians for years now - just because the government doesn't tell you what is going on doesn't mean nothing is being done - get a brain! Obama is not going to pull troops out - he has already said so; he is going to increase the number of troops in Afghanistan; he has said so. He is going to raise our taxes until we bleed - he has said so. Please grow up (no, wake up). He will destroy us all.

Danel   July 21st, 2008 1:02 pm ET

If you idiots think a below average senator can go over sea and determine U.S. policy in two days then you are gullable to anything.Wake up before it is too late. Paul.
++++++++++++++
Paul, you calling Obama bellow average?? That's a hoot! You haven't bother to research about him that's why. Too much negativity clouded your vision.

"I will never drink the Kool-aid"…you can go to jail for your threat to Obama.

Mark, B'ham., Al.   July 21st, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Did Obama thank General Petreaus for the success of the surge and the Troopers who made it work. I dought it! It is another photo op like his idol Bill use to use the military for.

Randy   July 21st, 2008 12:57 pm ET

Wow….it is good to see Obama laughing and having the time of his life while are troops are working their butts off. I am glad to see he thinks riding around in the chopper is soooooo much fun!

Maybe he can sell raffle tickets for a helicopter ride now too

HATERS HATE REGARDLESS!   July 21st, 2008 12:57 pm ET

Now that's what I'm talking about. A commander and chief I can be proud of. You can't help but to like this guy. Even Patreaus can't help it himself. Obama is the man. He can fit comfortably in any situation. He cares about the people and has a better record of taking care of the troops. Obama thank you for taking care of veterans. Mccain thinks he can get our votes just because he's a vet. Meanwhile voting against our best interest time after time. Mccain will be surprised in November when Obama carries the military vote. Obama cares about everyday people. His policies cater to us, not the rich. He is a good guy but hey, haters hate regardless!

Citizens Are Pissed and Will Remember ...   July 21st, 2008 12:57 pm ET

JUST LIKE McCain DID a few months ago.

Politics end at the water's edge AFTER a guy is ELECTED. Just because Obama is behaving in such presumptious and narcisistic ways, please remember that he is NOT the President.

The state of our media is pathetic.

coybandit-there are no taliban in iraq, and never has been.saddam would have had them executed ,because they didnt like each other, ever.

Clark Shaffer   July 21st, 2008 12:54 pm ET

"Inexperience"….an interesting concept to discuss given that we elected a man as president more than 40 years ago who had even less political experience/credential than Obama. We elected a man, our current president, who had even less (check the State of Texas constitution - real power lies with the Lt. Gov, not the Govenor) experience and who, by all measure was/is a dismal failure as a businessman.
Obama has the one thing characteristic that neither Hillary or McShame possess which his willingness to work across party lines and work for actual/real change relative to the "politics as usual" atmosphere that has dominated our system since GWBluner took office.

Mike, Syracuse, NY   July 21st, 2008 12:54 pm ET

Why is it that 90% of the comments about Obama are about how he 'looks good' and 'looks presidential'? How about some substance? Oh, I forgot, there isn't any.

gerald   July 21st, 2008 12:53 pm ET

i would had love to seen obama and john in the heli together, its not about them now, that way all comments would have been a good thing. cant we just get along with all.

Obama '08

Jeff   July 21st, 2008 12:53 pm ET

Oooooo! I bet General Petraeus was quivering with excitement.
Our tax dollars should be going to something more substantial than providing photo ops for "ego in a suit" Obama. Let him spend his campaign money on trips like these. After all, it is just a campaign stunt. I have been a democrat for 30 years but I will not support Obama. The White House is no place for training wheels. Once again the American electorate has chosen the less competent of the field. I guess we didn't learn anything from the election of G.W. Bush. Obama will be the democratic version of G.W. Bush.

Andrew   July 21st, 2008 12:52 pm ET

Someone said our troops are excited to have barack here in Iraq. No your wrong, In fact most troops don 't agree with his statement in the beginning of the year that our "lives are being wasted".

4 days in Iraq can't make you understand this war. No worries though because this comment will be attacked. Atleast I know in my heart what's right.

We know how to win this war you don't. Problem is, the democrats and Americans "thinking" there doing the right thing wont allow us to win.

ali   July 21st, 2008 12:51 pm ET

900 days to find out what everyone already knows.the iraq war was a mistake, and we need an honorable way out.obama is the only candidate with honor.petreus probably recognizes, now, that obama will garner the support our military needs to withdraw from iraq, and re-focus on al-qaida and the taliban ,in afghanistan and pakistan, which,by the way ,is two countries away from the iraqi border,in case republicans want the truth.

georgia   July 21st, 2008 12:51 pm ET

What makes McSame, Clintons & their vigilantes feel they can dictate Sen.Obama's every move from VP to visiting the Middle East ? First McSame insisted he go now he's finding fault w/every aspect of it.
McSame you're out ! Obama 08 !!!!

Rock & Rollers For McCain   July 21st, 2008 12:51 pm ET

For all you commenting on how nice the picture is…please understand that this shot is one of probably 200 images shot in this one very scene. This is how the liberal CNN news machine works. A split second later they could have all grimaced at the site of a bombed out house. But of coarse, the negro gets showcased at his best. If McCain had been in this series of frames, I'm sure the editor would choose the most unflattering shot of all.

Livonia, MI   July 21st, 2008 12:50 pm ET

But Obama can win this. People are fed up with the lies and abuse of the Republican party. It's time to move forward… TOGETHER. Out of Iraq in 16 months!

Obama/Hagel 08!! God bless you and God bless the troops!!! Ooh-rah!!

I know it is eating right wingers alive to see that military people actually get along, like, and respect Obama. This picture has to be eating them alive. Just look at some of the post on this page.

Oh, and PUMA 4 HILL. Your statement clearly demonstrates you are not and have never been a democratic supporter. Stop faking.

Cheryl (Retired Vets for Obama)   July 21st, 2008 12:47 pm ET

WOW! What a great photo….I can only imagine how happy the General will be once Obama is in office. The Bush administration has broke one of the most basic military rules by constantly using the General for their personal achievements. All military personnel are suppose to remain neutral when it comes to politics. One interesting and smart thing that Obama has said in response to McCains contant insistance that he should speak to General Patraeus concerning the U.S. departure from Iraq, Senator Obama responded correctly that the Generals work for the President not the other way around, excellent point. The Commander and Chief is responsible for the security of America from all corners of the world not just the middle east. I salute you Senator Obama, you are so smart.

b Jiggy   July 21st, 2008 12:47 pm ET

THE Leader. Enough said.

Karen S. Reese   July 21st, 2008 12:45 pm ET

First McCain blast Obama for lack of experience regarding foriegn policy and now he blast him for trying to gain experience by talking to foriegn leaders and our troops on the ground. Is McCain afraid that Obamas' ideas could get support outside of the USA?

Everything is a dog and pony show with Obama.

He is an inch deep and a mile wide.

Larry-Minn.   July 21st, 2008 12:44 pm ET

What a joke.. did you expect anything else…Of course they are going to smile and act stupid. They are followed by the media at every turn.. How often is there a cameraman in the helicopter with them.. One big photo op..a picture for the scrapbook. Means nothing, definitely doesnt mean the general likes him. Notice who was in front of the door….no way the general was going to take a bullet for Obama…haha

ali   July 21st, 2008 12:44 pm ET

this is the first time i've seen petreus smile.when i see him with bush or mccain he appears weary…….perhaps president obama gives him some "hope".

Obama postion: We should focus on Afghanistan
Right Wing: Afghanistan? What the heck is that? The terrorists will win!
Result: Both parties agree Afghanistan currently spinning out of control

Obama position: We should have dimplomatic talks with Iran
Right Wing: Talk with people who dont agree with us!? Thats appeasment! The terrorists will win!
Result: Bush administrations currently in diplomatic talks with Iran.

Obama position: We should set goals for leaving for Iraq
Right Wing: Thats a timetable! The terrosists will win!
Result: Iraqs own prime minister wants US troops to leave even earlier then Obama calls for.

Right Wing response to these FACTS: oh my god! He is secretly a Muslim! Oh my God! Do you know his middle name! He is so arrogant (ie intelligent) Blah, blah, fear, hate, ignorance, blah, blah the terrorists will win, blah, blah

Ak   July 21st, 2008 12:43 pm ET

Does not matter whether Sen Obama has a good photo with David Petreaus. What does matter is ; The lost of young lives has to be understand by the people whom we try to help. But if they don't understand that we are loosing such beautiful young people full of lives for they own stability and appreciated our looses, then what are we waiting for. Although going to Iraq was wrong at the first place, coming out without making sure the country is secure and stable would be even worst then we think.

Max   July 21st, 2008 12:43 pm ET

Proud to vote for Obama. Gob bless all people of good will. Patraeus riding with our next president.

Kathy   July 21st, 2008 12:42 pm ET

So what does Obama find so AMUSING about flying over a war-torn country??

The first time I see a photo of Obama with what appears to be a genuine smile on his face, and it occurs in the context of flying OVER a country that has been devastated by war….what's so FUNNY Obama?

Peter   July 21st, 2008 12:42 pm ET

*gasp* really? We've only talked about this for the past month

Paul   July 21st, 2008 12:42 pm ET

Oh No, General Petraeus and Barack Obama with smiles and looks as if they are laughing. What will McCain say now? Is it time to change the General in charge for the next phase of the 100 year surge? Maybe the General thinks we are all in need for a change and focus.

Obamacan   July 21st, 2008 12:41 pm ET

America…There's our next Commander in Chief….There's our next Next President.

President Bush and McSame are both on the record saying: "If Iraquis asks us to leave, we'll leave" Well, that's exactly what they're asking us to do.

Now that Iraq's president and our future president both agree on how to handle Iraq

Republicans for Obama 08.

Obama leading the troops back home. Finally met with Patreus and optimistic to end this war.

Coybandit   July 21st, 2008 12:41 pm ET

Yeah, we are doing the flip-flop between Iraq and Afghanistan!! We'll get out of Iraq but have a "surge" in Afghanistan. Later in a few months, once Afghanistan cools down, we'll see the Taliban and Al-Quaida re-ignite in Iraq, so we can then have another "surge" there. It's going to be never ending regardless of who is elected the next President. All we can do is hope and pray someone does not get trigger happy on the nuclear button!!!!!

Lineaus   July 21st, 2008 12:40 pm ET

I support Obama, but think that McCain is a good man, who happens
to be wrong about several important issues. Is is also right about some
things (i.e. earmarks, global warming). McCain is 1000% preferable
to Bush.

I dare a McCain supporter to admit that Obama is also a good man,
and is highly intelligent, and would make a better president than Bush.

Is our country really so divided and stubborn?

Texas   July 21st, 2008 12:40 pm ET

Remember when the Democrats were calling General Petraus, General Betray us? Remember when Dems were declaring defeat and opposed the surge?

Obama, Pelosi, Harry Reid, that's what you're voting for, wake up people. If we would have listened to the Dems, we'd be paying $10 a gallon for gas.

Pelosi and Reid will create the largest govenement expenditure in the history of the US, pork spending across the board and Obama won't veto any of it.

Get ready for higher taxes.

For all the Clinton Supporters out there…we still have a way

Josie Everett   July 21st, 2008 12:39 pm ET

McCain ,according to his medical (what little he released) states he takes Ambien to sleep) That's great. I "ll bet he'll need it tonight ,with this photo in his head. Think of it, an old man on sleeping pills (with PTSD) answerering that 3am phone call - do you think he'll bomb the wrong country? Maybe one that doesn't even exist anymore?

anyway   July 21st, 2008 12:37 pm ET

It does not matter what Obama does, the people that listen to Sean Hannity and Rush and the rest of that bandwagon are never going to admit it because they are racist. They would rather vote for John McCain than have a black man in the Oval Office. It is sad but true. There is nothing you can do about that. It is hard to overcome hate and bigotry. We can not concentrate on those people. Thank God I never experienced racism in my years of growing up, therefore I do not have to wash that from my heart. That is a hard thing to do I can imagine. So the only thing we can do is pray for these people and not even entertain their hate filled thoughts. BEAUTIFUL PICTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. OBAMA YOU ROCK.

Mike, Syracuse, NY   July 21st, 2008 12:37 pm ET

Do you thinlk Petraeus asked Obama why he never condemned the MoveOn General Betray us ad? Obama has no place even dreaming about being Commander-in-Chief.

archiesteel   July 21st, 2008 12:37 pm ET

To the cowardly user called "I will never drink the Kool-aid", you should know that making threats with regards to, or suggesting that others cause harm to, a presidential candidate is not only anti-democratic, it's also illegal.

I suggest that CNN remove this comment and/or contact the Secret Service about its author. If not, I might just have to do it myself…

What does he know? How to keep us fighting wars until he's 6 feet under.

Obama offers nothing more than flowery rhetoric and empty promises for each and every American.

What other promises will he "refine" or break between now and November? And does anyone know what he would actually do if he were to charm his way successfully into the White House?

Give me a break.

Jonnie rae, Boston   July 21st, 2008 12:36 pm ET

Obama, as always, is building relationships that matter. There really haven't been that many photos outside Kuwait. It isn't the big media blitz everyone is talking about. He has only done one interview, so far. he is sticking with his purpose, to listen, ask questions, observe and build solid relationships. I think that everyone calling him naive is now coming around to his positions!!!

so sad that so many people are willing to vote for such and inexperienced man. This is the PRESIDENTIAL election. His words might be great, but I need a little substance… really, what has he done? I hear what he SAYS he's going to do… but what has he done? maybe in 4 years I'd vote for him… if we could all see him actually do something in that time.

…this picture has to be sticking in the craw of Hannity, Limbaugh, Rove, Bush, Cheney, and the rest of the schmucks who got us into this situation with the bologne that comes out of their mouths. Petreaus has already said as has Gates that they would work well with Obama.

This looks like two guys who will get along great.

Obama is looking like presidential material, McCain is not president material I am tired of McCain talking about Iran and iraq. We the American people need Jobs and better economy policy I am against free trade deal

What a great photo. Barack is the man we need to lead our country and show the world we are still a responsible, moral country. It is difficult for the McCain supporters who have nothing better to do or say than show their envy over Barack's natural sense of leadership and judgment. Get on board for the sake of our future.

kevin   July 21st, 2008 12:29 pm ET

Obama did not even bring up his plan for Iraqi withdrawal wil Al Maliki. It is just a sham to get liberal votes. He has no intentions of withdrawal. Just like he used opposition to FISA to get liberal votes in the primary only to vote FOR it in the end. Liberals are not smart enough to realize they are being used.

Don   July 21st, 2008 12:29 pm ET

Excellent diplomat

Commander in Chief, I love it.

Renee   July 21st, 2008 12:29 pm ET

McCain is doing a media blitz against Barack. It won't work. The jealousy is palatable. They would give a right arm to get the attention that Barack is getting now.

I've never seen the troops actually cheer for anyone, as they have for Barack. I love it and I know he will be a great president.

Barack the Vote   July 21st, 2008 12:29 pm ET

Steve   July 21st, 2008 12:29 pm ET

It's a very interesting juxtaposition of photo ops. Senator Obama rides in a helicopter with just General Petraeus and Senator Hagel and Senator McCain walked the Iraqi streets surrounded by a battalion of troops. Senator Obama looks engaged with his companions and Senator McCain cordons himself off from everyone.

In the end, this is not about whether either of them is using his visit for political advantage; they both are. But, if we were to judge them based on who appears to feel more comfortable in their own skin and portrays himself as a leader, Senator Obama wins.

If you get past the rhetoric and partisanship, Senator Obama's policies and his ability to communicate and stick to them are sounder.

Okay- the reason why Obama gets so much from media is because people like us (Obama supporter as well as Obama haters) react to his news..

Why dont you McCain supporters react to his news as well? maybe that way- he too will get some notice from the media..

You got to love conservatives:

1) Petraeus must be forcing that smile for cameras,
2) No Maliki saying he wants a timetable three times doesn't mean that,
3) he wore a suit to visit the head of a country — how elitist! (let's ignore the previous day in Kuwait and Afghanistan when he met the troops in casual clothing)
4) McCain's not dead, he's just resting.

Terrence (Winston Salem, NC)   July 21st, 2008 12:26 pm ET

Abby - Ditto

People might not like him (or his skin tone) but he was RIGHT about Iraq. The president of Iraq wants a timetable, America wants one, and Obama said all along that one is needed. The only ones who don't want one are Bush, McCain and the Rethugs.

doc   July 21st, 2008 12:26 pm ET

what a hoot, isn't this what obama should have been doing for the last 2-3 years, well I guess his career move comes 1st country 2nd. The pity of all this is that we have 2 of the worst candidates I have ever seen running for the Presidency. I'm still not sold on either one what can a moderate do but just wait till 11/4, all the hype and spinmeisters for both tell me the straight truth, they will really know what to do in 2/09 when reality will look them in both eyes not before then………

ANNE SW MISSOURI - GENERALS DON'T MAKE POLICY. PRESIDENTS DO AND SOMETIMES THAT POLICY STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL THEY'RE DOING. AN INCOMING PRESIDENT DANG WELL BETTER LISTEN TO HIS COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES BECAUSE WITHOUT HIM HE WILL KNOW NOTHING AS OBAMA DOES ABOUT FOREIGN POLICY. HEAVEN FORBID THIS MAN GAINING THE OVAL OFFICE. HE ALONG WITH SUPPORTERS I CAN SEE, WILL PLUNGE AMERICA INTO A FOREIGN TAKEOVER. WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT OR IF YOUR GOING TO MAKE A MAJOR DECISION AFFECTING MILLIONS OF LIVES THEN YOU HAD BETTER HAVE SOME ADVISERS AROUND YOU THAT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON. THIS IS NOT THE BOY SCOUTS. WAR IS REAL, THEY USE REAL BULLETS AND SOLDIERS DIE. THESE BRAVE MEN WHO GIVE YOU AND IT IS THEM THAT DO, THE FREEDOM TO EXPRESS YOURSELF ON THIS COMMENT SITE. TAKE YOUR HAT OFF TO THESE SOLDIERS AND DO, I REPEAT, DO NOT PUT A MORON IN THE WHITE HOUSE TO BE THEIR COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF. FROM A 28-YEAR VETERAN OF THE U.S. ARMY. TWO TOURS IN NAM AND IN DESERT STORM. I DIDN'T SEE NO PRESIDENT LEADING US ON ANY OF OUR PATROLS. OBAMA HAS NEVER WORN A MILITARY UNIFORM. SAY NO TO OBAMA!!!!!!!

Donna   July 21st, 2008 12:24 pm ET

Stephina..how was he suppose to look? would you look comfortable and at ease on a military base in a war zone?

I thought he looked fine..you should be nervous when you are talking to troops who may ask you "why am I here?" or "when are we leaving?"…you know something you can't really answer with a definitive date…when you go to a war zone and look like you belong there (a la Bush), then THAT is when you should be more concerned because it shows that they are not TRYING to get you home…please go vote for OLDCAIN….he needs all the help he can get….

As much as McCain would like us to believe, Obama and Petreus are not adversaries, but patriot Americans. They are on the same team and I think will make a wonderful alliance to bring our soldiers home in a timely manner.

Petreus also understands that it would be in the country's best interest to have a good solid working relationship with our next president.

Obama-Junkie, IL   July 21st, 2008 12:18 pm ET

Yeah Stephina, while Obama was eating and speaking with troops overseas, McCain was at a professional baseball game eating hotdogs with Giuliani. The truyly distant picture was that of McCain at a baseball game while our future president and troops are in harms way!

Why is it that every photo, live shot, etc. of Obama he appears to be stand-offish, aloof, and unapproachable. Even when posed with someone (usually a person of color), he looks stiff and uncomfortable. I think the guy is just a fraud,a political opportunist, a phoney-balony.

Xavier, Saint Louis, MO   July 21st, 2008 12:15 pm ET

Gen. Petraeus in a Bush puppet and I'm sure he'll be happy to come home just like the rest of our soldier in Iraq. The real war is in Afghanistan, where our troops need to be. We shouldn’t be paying people to not attack our troops. “The surge is working”, NO, “The money is working!”
Get real people!

California Gold   July 21st, 2008 12:14 pm ET

Smith_Can get your facts straight. Obama is not starting to learn about the Afghan war, Iraq or middle east politics. Why don't you read in depth articles and investigative journalism rather than politial ticker snippets. You would then form opinions based in fact, not fiction.

He looked completely awkard and out of place. There He was all dressed up in a business suit. He looked so distanced from the men and women he was visiting with and I'm sure he just died having to eat a plate of army food with them.

Obama is so arrogant and over-rated.

McCain in 2008!!!

PUMA 4 HILL   July 21st, 2008 12:12 pm ET

Poor Petraeus, he must of had to force that smile… or he's thinking "and this guy wants to lead America"….

Ignorant leftist nuts want this puppet. He's copied speeches, he reads other speeches written by his staff and he changes his stance on major issues after saying what his thug followers want to hear.

He is CHANGE we can Xerox and nothing more. He may go down in history as the first African American president and that's all he cares about. GAGGGGG!!!!

Anna, SW Missouri   July 21st, 2008 12:12 pm ET

When Gen. David Petraeus takes on his new job, he is going to be calling for troop withdrawal in Iraq so we can send more troops to Afganistan. What will McCain say about that?

When did the US Comander in Chief stop making policy and setting the missions of our millitary, and say that the President just does what the military tells him to do? Are we now a military state?

McCain tries to have it both ways. He criticized Barack for not going to Iraq. Now he criticizes him for going.

Nice try. But our troops and foreign dignitaries are excited to have Barack on their side.

Smith_Can   July 21st, 2008 12:08 pm ET

I think it's a little too late to start to learn about the Afghan war and most importantly Iraq. This merely indicates that he really has no idea what to do with respect to any foreign policy.

Perhaps he should have started with attending a few Senate hearings first. I can't beleive how many Americans can't see through his policies. He will say anything voters want to hear.

Pater servius, Ft. Myers   July 21st, 2008 12:07 pm ET

I really had it with CNN and other major news network, and their anchors!!!! I personally believe, that BO is an intelligent, charismatic, and good spirited person, however; I don't understand why is the media so infatuated with him!? The USA is really facing serious crisis, and all you hear about in the news is how well Obama is doing overseas.

This is a disgrace!!! CNN, please stop the love affair with Obama, and give us some real news coverage about the issues here at home.
