Rep. Heather Wilson, a surrogate for John McCain, called Obama 'frighteningly inexperienced.'

(CNN) – A leading surrogate for John McCain called Barack Obama "frighteningly inexperienced" Tuesday, the latest effort from the Arizona senator's presidential campaign to step up its criticism of the Democratic presidential candidate while he travels abroad.

Speaking on a conference call with reporters, Rep. Heather Wilson, R-New Mexico, sharply criticized Obama and his presidential campaign for suggesting the Iraqi government had endorsed his timetable for withdrawal from the war-torn country.

"He's not listening to the whole of what the Iraqi government was saying — he's hearing what he wanted to hear and what he thought would help him politically, which get backs to Senator Obama as a candidate for the presidency," Wilson said. "He has his finger in the wind, trying to figure out which way the wind is blowing, and he is not leading.

"He is no way sophisticated enough, I don't think — I mean he is frighteningly inexperienced when it comes to international affairs and national security policy," she added. "And he heard what he wanted to hear from the Iraqi government, without any context around it, and took that simple message and decided it helped him politically. That's the antitheses of what we should expect from a president of the United States."

Listen: Wilson slams Obama on conference call (15:15)

Wilson's comments come after Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki was quoted in German newspaper appearing to suggest he supported Obama's 16-month timetable for withdrawal from the country. Top Obama foreign policy adviser Susan Rice said the campaign welcomed the comments, though Maliki's office letter dialed back from them.

Speaking on the same conference call as Wilson, McCain foreign policy adviser Randy Scheunemann said the Iraqi government has made clear any timetable should be tied to conditions on the ground.

"There have been a number of statements from the prime minister and others about the hope that combat forces can be withdrawn by the end of 2010, but I will also point out the government has made clear in a variety of ways that that is based on an expectation of the continued improvement of the security situation and the continuing improvement in the capability of Iraqi security forces to provide for their own security,"

Calling all Obama-ites step away from the Kool-Aid. If Obama is elected it will be Jones town on a national scale. Liberalism is truley a mental disorder and it destroys societies.

Frighteningly incompetent=Bush/McCain for another 4 years

Rick   July 22nd, 2008 2:46 pm ET

Right on, sister. Obama is a complete nitwit which is exactly why his greatest supporters are Mahmoud Achmadenijad, Kim Jong-il, Hugo Chavez and France. This guy couldn't run the graveyard shift at McDonalds let alone the country.

Marge Hibbing Mn   July 22nd, 2008 2:46 pm ET

Of course the MSM is hyping obama. Why do you think the constantly panned Hillary Clinton for everything that obama did. He is sneaky, underhanded and the presidency is no place to have a LEARNING experience. Look at what happened when bush was there for eight years. obama is an egotistical twit, who really believes the stuff his dumb bunny supporters throw out there.

Gary of El Centro, Ca   July 22nd, 2008 2:46 pm ET

We should be afraid of Obama? Get real lady…….we've had Darth Vader running the operation from his secret bunker, while Bozo was out front doing the soft shoe dance trying to fool the public for the last eight years. Obama will be such a drastic improvement, it's not even close! And I mean no disrespect to the real Bozo…….

alfie   July 22nd, 2008 2:45 pm ET

The current administration, the Republican Party's presumptive nominee, and old school Washington are just that…old, stale and ineffective.

If 'inexperience' in the ways of Washington politics, lobbying, pork barrel spending, government waste, etc., etc., brings us a new perspective, a new vision for this country, a fresh approach to Washington politics, then I am all for it.

Bring it on Obama!

CCS   July 22nd, 2008 2:45 pm ET

This is amazing that they have found yet another way to blame Obama for something that he didn't do and isn't even bad. The White House is who leaked the info about the agreement and a newspaper in another country said Iraq agreed with Obama.

Yet somehow, Obama is the problem. Keep on lying and spinning Republicans. To quote the Joker, "this is what happens when an unstoppable force meets and immovable object." The good news is there's only one top spot in this country.

David from Ohio   July 22nd, 2008 2:45 pm ET

Heather Wilson lead the charge on important issues like Janet Jackson's "slippage" during the Superbowl, you know, the same issue which led a federal court to throw out the FCC's fine? I certainly hope the voters of New Mexico are smart enough not to send her to the U.S. Senate. Typical GOP strategy–try to distract voters by scaring them–rinse and repeat since 2002.

Dal CA   July 22nd, 2008 2:45 pm ET

It is funny that some write about doing combat in IRAN. Do they realize that some of them will only come back in body bags or may be severely hurt mentally and physically that they will not have a normal life at all.
People think clearly it is better to have a verbal discussion than using weapons to make your point understood.

In response to the distinguished Congresswoman: What is really, really frightening is that Senator McCain has much more experience than Senator Obama, but still manages to get it all wrong – the economy, foreing relations and policy, and the operation of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Keep in mind, McCain wants to bomb, bomb, bomb Iran, wants an American policy built on warmongering by the US on multiple fronts just like when we still had a military draft, limitless international support and the financial ability to run them all. Wake up and smell the coffee, Senator McCain, it is time for a new strategical foreign policy built on current-day realities for the United States. John McCain just doesn't have it or get it.

The outcome of most elections are determined by the late deciding independent voters.

Obama supporters, we don’t need to ARGUE with posters here. Trust me, the anti-Obama views ARE NOT coming from the people the Democrats need to win this election. The Democrats need the people that are largely sitting back QUIETLY reading and reviewing these blogs.

Use the anti-Obama posts so that you know all the negative attacks that we should dissect on this blog so that the UNDECIDED voter gets honest clarity around those topics and makes the smart choice. We don’t need to twist, manipulate or parse words. We’re backing the more intelligent, more thoughtful candidate that builds high performing teams.

Succinctly rebut the false claim. Support it with facts and give the reference for the facts so that it can be checked. When quoting McCain or a surrogate, list the name of the publication or TV show, the date it ran, etc. Pick your words carefully to remove ambiguity and to avoid exaggerating, or being bombastic.

Verbally denigrating an opponent never impresses someone else that you want to join your team.

Remember this is a public forum and people perpetrate their identities and their motives. Let us be the adults here.

In the end, we all want to hire the smart guy.

J. Richter   July 22nd, 2008 2:44 pm ET

WOW. This diatribe is getting personal. This is begining to seem desperate and pathetic. Why cant the McCain campaign focus on policy and relevant issues?

Scheuneman mentioning junior high in Indonesia, spring break to what reason? Obama has never referenced McCain's school or any of his personal stuff – not even the crashing of five planes, or visiting strip malls, or breaking virtually every rule wihle in navy school.

Eric P   July 22nd, 2008 2:44 pm ET

Hmmm, to all the naysayers, racist, right wing nuts, religious zealouts on here who continue to paint Obama as inexperienced (code word for he's black!) and a threat to America as we know it. I hope so. Because we sure could use a change from the America we now know!
Apparently rational people, Republican and Democrat alike seem to know this. Just ask Chuck Hagel, war hero, pragmatic, but a conservative white Senator from Nebraska traveling with the inexperienced Obama through Iraq. Could a revered politician from the right be so wrong…Hmmm I wonder.

The day Obama opted out of campaign financing was his victory day. Can't imagine what would have happened if he didn't. Now, we the people will resist your lies, pandering, peddling etc with all our might. I just donated $50 to Obama. I will donate some more when the next agent of fear comes out -it will be soon. Matthew, Houston, TX   July 22nd, 2008 2:44 pm ET

First off, who the heck is this woman and why should I listen to her? Second off, was she in those meeting Senator Obama was in? No. So how can she say what the Iraqies said? What a crock of BS from the McCain campaign.

All I keep hearing from the McCain campaign is criticism of Senator Obama and fear mongering. I went to his website to see if I could find out any specifics on his policy ideas and guess what? Nothing there. All I saw ware outlines of ideas and Senator McCain's philisophical approach without any details as to how McCain as President would accomplish his goals or implement his policies. Nothing even close to the details and specifics that Senator Obama has on his website.

". . . the latest effort from the Arizona senator's presidential campaign to step up its criticism of the Democratic presidential candidate while he travels abroad." So much for the 'respectful campaign' Senator McCain promised us.

Peg   July 22nd, 2008 2:44 pm ET

What does she mean by "leadership"? All anyone can do at this stage is talk in broad strokes. Do you really want someone making and acting on policy reflected in 20 second sound bites? These generalities being tossed around are plain stupid and no one–NO ONE–in the media asks: what does that mean"?
Sorry, but Obama's trip to the Middle East was summed up in that 3-pointer he sunk when on the basketball court with the troops, and the Republicans were astounded by his reception by Iraqi leaders and our own troops, who were clearly thrilled by his presence. Panic time at the RNC!

Democrats Unify & Vote Big   July 22nd, 2008 2:44 pm ET

McCain's using the old 'Attack, Attack, Attack' strategy today. He's basically got just a few strategies to try to land him in the oval office chair: Fear, Attack, War, Doubt, & Hate. Sounds like 'The Screwtape Letters' part 2″.

Who is Rep Wilson anyway??? Looks like they're digging deep for surrogates.

patrick   July 22nd, 2008 2:44 pm ET

The Republicans whole entire campaign thus far has been based off nothing but fear!. I havent heard anything about what makes John Mccain supposedly better. He is going down the same channel as he and the Repubs accused Obama of doing early on. All talk, NO substance!

Not only to mention, Ms Wilson doesnt hold the weight of a feather to Bill Richardson in New Mexico.

Tyler - OK   July 22nd, 2008 2:43 pm ET

well, SHE is frighteningly wrongly experienced.

the time for backward "republican" ideals is over. stop suggesting that all of you are "sooo" much more experienced. i don't care if you've been in some form of political office for 20+ years and are approaching 60. the fact of the matter is a new generation is rising up, being led by people such as Obama…and many of the elders still around in politics are past their prime.

STOP pushing experience and realize things are changing, "times are a'changin" to quote Dylan. the majority of Americans don't want to relate to your twisted "experienced" ideals.

your time is over. McCain, good luck to you.

you will not win, you are far too old, and far too disconnected from the majority of Americans, republican, democrat, or independent.

you lack the fine art of being personable.

Jackster   July 22nd, 2008 2:43 pm ET

What 'experience' did Guliani have, vis-a-vis, terrorist attacks when 9-11 happened? I think the only answer would have to be 'none,' and yet he is held up as a paragon of heroism (not that I agree.)
As for John McCain…my father was a retired WWII Navy Captain who went through many battles in the Pacific and Atlantic–including Normandy–and he would be the last person to think that those credentials alone would have qualified him for the presidency.

Shut up you haggly old kroon or I might have to shove a fork in my eye from the insanity of it all. I have never in my life experiences such a ridiculous display of ignorance, immorality and flat out lies. McCain has nothing to offer the American people exept inaccurate slams and accusations against his oponent. Wow what a joke he has become. How terrifying it is to think that people might actually vote for that crusty old goat. Thank God I am not a republican.

Stan Cann   July 22nd, 2008 2:43 pm ET

Ms. Wilson certainly must have known that Bush Jr. was just plain frightening. Yet that fact did not hinder her blind loyalty to the Bush junta.

What Ms. Wilson forget to mention was her own involvement in the firing of a New Mexico based federal prosecutor.

Ms. Wilson – like Bush and John McBush – is irrelevant.

rexx   July 22nd, 2008 2:43 pm ET

Obama has NO experience. None. Well unless you count Chicago machine style stolen elections then he has experience at that. Thankfully he has no chance this Nov.

ROC   July 22nd, 2008 2:42 pm ET

what does experience have to do with making the correct choice for American people? If the experience we've seen for the past 8 years is any indication of what experience is all about then I'm running in 2012. We've seen what experience has done increased gas prices a slumping dollar, trillions more on the nations deficit and our international influence squandered. Not to mention oil companies robbing the country and the citizens in order to increase profits and lies upon lies upon lies from this administration. Where do I begin???? Oh My vote is 4 change!

anks   July 22nd, 2008 2:42 pm ET

Well I guess it getting confusing Rep. need to attack Obama for all his deeds instead of doing some thing innovative, he is increasing the playing field for sure and has fore sight, like this trip. I have yet to see any new trick from Rep Hat, apart from fear tricks and attack.

For now at least Obama sure seems to be smarter guy, slowly cutting McCain arguments, like this trip will blunt First Hand foreign exp to large extent, and also he will proof he has created enthusiasm even in Middle East and Europe, and this will help America to negotiate their way as leaders.

Get your thinking Caps on Republican's time is running out

Poor thing. She's "unsophisticated" in her approach to rationalizing that someone out of her comfort zone would make decisions for the U.S. Obama has not respoded to the German's newspaper quotes, only U.S. media. She has taken the situation out of context.

Scare tactics worked in 2004, but truly America has learned its lesson.

Southern view   July 22nd, 2008 2:42 pm ET

If Al Maliki wants us out by 2010, he needs to make more progress on national reconciliation and engagement of different ethnic groups into the structure and fabric of a unified Iraq. If he does not do that, he will be the first casualty of our departure. His government will not survive. That is something that Obama has to consider carefully before he takes his cues from Maliki (or vice versa).

Examples of lies 1. "Obama supports an unconditional withdrawal from Iraq" Not true at all…watch any of the 22 debates from the dem primary and you will quickly realize this.
2. "Obama is to blame for high oil prices" that claim made by the mcsame camp is actually HILARIOUS!!

Look at all the extremely experienced and aged members of our congress; then look at the state of our union. Experience apparently can't make life better for Americans. McCain's been trying for president since I was in high school 20 years ago. He doesn't have a chance. An Obama victory will send a loud and clear message to the Civic generation and the Baby Boomers: Your time is over, and you failed miserably.

Anita   July 22nd, 2008 2:41 pm ET

Heather Wilson (R-NM) has no credibility or integrity. She is just one of the Republicans who turned on their own, whined about the pace of the prosecution of a corruption case involving a Democrat, and was instrumental in getting well-respected United States Attorney David Iglesias fired.

Felix   July 22nd, 2008 2:40 pm ET

McCain's camp is talking the same garbage that Bush, Cheney, & Rove spouted in 2000 and 2004. If you say it enough, the uninformed public will believe it.

Obama never said that he would unconditionally pull troops out of Iraq on a certain date. He has ALWAYS said that conditions on the ground would dictate our troop withdrawals. What he did say was that if the current successes continue, then yes, withdrawal within 16 months is feasible.

Voter   July 22nd, 2008 2:40 pm ET

McCain campaign — all negative, all the time!

I suppose that's what a campaign does when all McCain has to offer is Bush's 3rd term.

Senator McCain, either get a new message or hire Karl Rove to manage your campaign. He'd be more effective than Heather Wilson. Of course, such a move would confirm what most of us already suspect — you are seeking Bush's 3rd term.

Looked her up. She has absolutely NO, ZERO. ZED, foreign policy experience.

However,her environmental policies are backward:

"Wilson has voted in favor of legislation to make the EPA a cabinet department, to expedite forest thinning projects, and to de-authorize critical habitat designated by the Endangered Species Act.[14] The League of Conservation Voters recently named her to its “Dirty Dozen” list of environmentally irresponsible federal officeholders, citing her support for uranium industry practices that contaminate groundwater, for policies that would allow “unlimited mining waste dumping on public lands,” and for reduced accountablility for mining companies implicated in pollution.[15] Wilson has also been criticized by New Mexico farmers for what they see as her anti-environment stance: she voted against a $58 million dollar fund for voluntary conservation measures in the state.[16] The League of Conservation Voters gave Wilson an “abysmal” rating on its 2003 National Scorecard, rebuking her for taking more than $100,000 in campaign contributions from the Energy Lobby.[17]" wikipedia

Funny, Wilson is accusing Obama of being overly pessimistic and McCain has been accused of being overly optimistic. Obama is accused of being "frighteningly inexperienced" yet our current President's prior experience was: running Harkin Oil into the ground, owning a baseball team, Gov of Texas and a brief military stint in the "champagne" unit. How absurd. I'd say Obama has about as much foreign policy experience as McCain has economic experience.

"The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should. I've got Greenspan's book." – John McCain

How comforting.

This is like the 5th ticker today about McCain or one of his backers attacking Obama on Iraq. Once again I ask the question: Isn't this the week that McCain was supposed to be focused on the Economy?

The republicans are obviously shaking in their boots.

Since McCain is not going to focus on the Economy then maybe he should be working on the homework that the NYT gave him yestarday….please define what "winning" in Iraq is??? The fact that he hasn't answered that questions and refuses to leave Iraq until we "win" is very very "frighteningly ".

MFVJR   July 22nd, 2008 2:39 pm ET

Republicans is still at it and at their best – politiics of fear (and unexperience). Politics of fear, they are busted. Now they are peddling "inexperience". Obama is no way "sophisticated" enough to handle international affairs? He is "frighteningly inexperienced"? Who could be worse than W? That didn't stop him and his ilk. And Ms. Wilson is reportedly on the short list to become VP and step into the shoes of McCain if he were to be elected (unlikely) and were to be incapacitated (likely) during the next four years? What are her qualifications? I think Sen. Obama's education and experience compare favorably to anyone on the national stage. And he doesn't confuse Iraq and Iran when discussing foreign policy, as McCain did recently. I for one do not think that political experience is either necessary or good; the more experience, the more corruption. If you're very smart, educated, dedicated, and well-mannered, you can succeed. Obama is all those things.

sonny c.   July 22nd, 2008 2:37 pm ET

Isn't she the Congresswoman who was brought to tears when describing how horrific it was to watch Janet Jackson's right breast being exposed on National Television during the Super Bowl half time show ? She seems prone to histrionics.

CM   July 22nd, 2008 2:37 pm ET

After reading this, all I can say is: "SO?"

After the reading the headline, I thought someone was going to be comparing him to Frankenstein or something. "Frighteningly inexperienced?" Ummmm……is this really a story?

Hypersensitive much?

Mike S.   July 22nd, 2008 2:37 pm ET

How dare you call a female elected member of our US Congress a "surrogate to John McCain. " The real "surrogate" in this election has been CNN ! Its overly favorable coverage toward Obama has been journalistically outrageous and recklessly biased.

Wright on the Button, Great job Rep. Wilson.

Obama has always been quick to point out faults about everyone of his opponents, but when the shoe is on the other foot he goes with whatever is going to help his campaign. THATS NOT A LEADER.

Bottomline Obama voted against the troop surge in Iraq and said it would not work. DEAD WRONG AGAIN OBAMA

Its working

"A leading surrogate for John McCain called Barack Obama 'frighteningly inexperienced'"
Way to poison the well, CNN.
Now in regards to Obama, the only thing that scares me more than his inexperience is his near fanatical supporters.

Mighty big words for someone who just lost her own primary election…

zolesh   July 22nd, 2008 2:37 pm ET

Call Obama what ever you want. What is clear is the the McCain campaign is struggling for attention. They hard their time after winning the nomination and blew the opportunity.

The problem with the McCain camp has been one of lack of a clear message to articulate be it on the Economy, the War in Iraq and Afghanistan,Energy ,health Care,Women Issues and practically on any issue that is central to the needs of Americans this season.

He shot himself in the foot by conceding that he does not know a lot about the economy. In fact the campaigns mindset was inadvertently revealed last week when his chief economic adviser called Americans WHINNERS for complaining about the current economic hardships they have had to deal with because of the mismanagement of the economy by the very administration Mr. McCain has is a part of.

Mr McCain and his team are the only one who believe that this economy has progressed over the past 8 years and he does not see anything wrong with continuing to spend 2 billion a week for the next 100 years.
This is money that can be used to strengthen this ailing economy.

Americans are just tired of this baseless political attacks are ready for change.

Obama's consistent message of change is catching up and we are ready for a new direction.
The Iraqi's are now saying its time for Americans to start planning to leave but Mr McCain still won't talk about pulling out.

Steve   July 22nd, 2008 2:37 pm ET

I am SO happy to hear Republicans calling Obama frightening. It's about time they get off their butts and do something for the American people. Maybe a little scare thrown into them will get them working on something, anything. For Republicans to spout off about lack of experience l find pretty funny. We've had almost 8 years of "experience". I'm not seeing how that has helped us very much.

A president does not run the country by his or herself. A good president hires good people, puts them in key positions, and lets them use their experience to do good work. Obama did just that during his campaign, and the mistakes that the Clinton campaign made aside, he beat the Clinton election machine, and broke the Clinton's death grip on the Democratic Party. To me, this demonstrates that Obama is a careful planner, an excellent strategist, and knows how to get good people to work. This is presidential material.

The Republicans and everyone else should remember that Clinton was about Obama's age when he first ran for president. So was Kennedy. Both candidates were considered pretty inexperienced at the time they ran (Kennedy was a junior Senator, and Clinton had been Governor of Arkansas). When taking the measure of a presidential candidate, it's important to keep in mind that what a person can DO for the country is at least as important as what a person has DONE. McCain has done little, and has little promise for the future. Obama has done a great deal on the local level, and his clear, concise, thoughtful way of working will be a breath of fresh air in the stench currently filling the Oval Office.

What is so frightening is when that idiot in the White House was elected twice as president and he had no experience whatsoever in politics, but yet the Republicans flocked to the polls just to vote for Stupid Bush. Why he didn't know the names of half of the leaders in the other countries when he was running the first time, but yet people voted for him. McCain is just another carbon copy of Bush who can barely remember what he says. At least Obama was smart enough to realize that the invasion of Iraq would be a huge mistake that would cost people their lives. Any president who invades a country based on "false pretense" is the person we need to be afaid of and not Obama.

Let face it people, Obama is a better choice for the US president than McCain. I am an independent voter and might consider voting for Mick Romney if he was the rep. candidate, because he will get things done. At this particular moment chosing McCain over Obama will be the greatest mistske the country has ever made. Obama is clever, articulate, focused and will get good things done for all of us but McCain don't have all these qualities. McCain is just NOT the man, period and I am so frighten that he might just win and waste out time for another four years. What a watse people , come on.

Frighteningly inexperienced? That sounds about right…when describing Bubba Bush. Who would have imagined that BB would have run our nation into the ground in 8 short years?

I call someone who graduated from Harvard Law and spent years working on the streets for and with real Americans a thinking American who can get the job done.

Jim   July 22nd, 2008 2:36 pm ET

I'll take his inexperience over another eight years of horrible foreign policy and running the economy into the ground. McCain's stay the course mentality is good for no one, except his elite filthy rich republican brethren.

Jon S.   July 22nd, 2008 2:36 pm ET

Yeah. And I suppose Wilson thinks Bush was qualified to be elected twice, with all his worldly experience, which was, what, going to Europe once? This is a tired, unfounded argument.

What is her background? If she was that good she would be a Senator and not a Congresswoman. Everyday the McCain campaign continues one bad joke after another.

The Scary thought is the Maverick is lost in the wilderness.

PJ Independent, New York   July 22nd, 2008 2:35 pm ET

This lady is right on!! Obama is a moron who will do ANYTHING to get in the White House. This is my biggest concern with Obama, foreign policy. Hillary Clinton proved him to be uninformed during the debates on MANY issues but more so on foreign policy. Obama just doesn't get it. Obviously the liberal left of the Democratic party decided to 'select' the 'black guy' because it was the 'popular' or politically correct thing to do. Not to mention the liberals like Kerry, Kennedy, Pelosi, etc. want him as their puppet.

Was for Clinton, now for McCain. Can't wait to hear the comments from the Obama-bots, calling me a racist just because I don't support their empty suit candidate.

Dana   July 22nd, 2008 2:35 pm ET

Oh Goodness… as usual this is all a distraction from the McCain camp and his cronies- Scare Tactics just like good old George pulled in 2004-because they dont have one thing to say on the economy, foreign policy, education, jobs (WAR is not Foreign Policy), their is something to be said for DIPLOMACY…there is something to be said when powerful foreign countries are rooting for Obama because they want Diplomacy back (I mean Europe & Asia). Remember John McCains top Economic Supervisor buddy saying that we have a mental recession going on- not a real one- its all in our heads people…yea I loved that one… Yet everyone falls in line to the banter back and forth- all John McCain knows is to keep pushing war- not how to fund it, how to make up for our billions- trillions in deficits- not how to fix it- just keep fighting until….until its all peaceful and merry over there- I think he has post traumatic stress syndrome. Being that the Vietnam war was considered a loss- I think he needs to make up for it somehow by having a "Victory" in Iraq! I think we need to respect the country and if they want to take over- then let them!! We have lost enough men over there as it is!! And how can we build up forces in Afghanistan when we have none to put there b/c they are all in Iraq- its just so rediculous all of it!
John McCain has no idea whats coming- he thinks he can keep dragging his heels on this war issue- but when they get face to face, when he gets the debate that he thinks he wants and when Obama makes him look more stupid than he does on his own, Americans will see- there is no HOPE for America with McCain as President!
Just because someone is older doesnt make them anymore qualified for a position. John McCain is a flip flopper- not a Maverick- he doesnt move with the WIND, but with the MONEY- with the LOBBYISTS- with the Right Wing GWB Cronies… He will be the 3rd term of George Bush- and God help us all if thats the case!! We will all be living in boxes watching them drive by in their mercedes… saying isnt life wonderful!!
Obama 2008!

Christy   July 22nd, 2008 2:35 pm ET

Some of our best presidents were inexperienced….JFK, and FDR for example….you know, the ones who got people excited and got things done. Our worst… Nixon, Truman ect had all manner of experience. I guess it's best to get them while they are still fresh!

annpatricia   July 22nd, 2008 2:34 pm ET

She is described in the caption as "a surrogate of john McCain." What the heck does that mean? Anybody know? Who is she?

Barack Obama   July 22nd, 2008 2:34 pm ET

To the American People

I want to thank everyone who voted for me. Unfortunately I am inexperience and i'm not ready to lead this country. I feel that this job is too tough for me to handle and I'm just not fit to become your Commander in Chief. Don't be upset with me please forgive me for playing games with you. I would like to endorse Hillary as the nominee her and Bill would be able to run this country better than me and Michelle ever could in this lifetime.

Thank you

Too bad the Republican party has only fear to offer. Critical retoric is one thing but failure to offer anything new is another. Don't see leadership from Sen. McCain and his group I just see more of the same President Bush noise.

former republican   July 22nd, 2008 2:34 pm ET

All Mccain can do is call names and criticize?

How pathetic.

Mikey Boy   July 22nd, 2008 2:34 pm ET

The Republicans really do not know how to approach Obama, as is evidenced by their comments on inexperience.

And McCain's main issue is the surge = he says it worked, but worked to do what. What was the objective?

Mike in Cincinnati   July 22nd, 2008 2:34 pm ET

You are seeing the McCain campaign going into its desperation moves already. See this criticism of Obama for what it is…. a frantic attempt by the Republicans to spin the headlines in their favor when Obama is otherwise commanding the headlines on matters of real substance. I have not heard anything coming out of Obama's trip that leads me to any other conclusion than that he has been absolutely correct in his views all along.

shamous mc   July 22nd, 2008 2:34 pm ET

Um..doesn't Bush have 8 years "experience"?
If term limits did not exist, would you want another term of Bush?

What we need is sound judgement and good leadership.

Barack going to do???

Maxine   July 22nd, 2008 2:34 pm ET

I am in agreement if the surge is a sucesss and the surge is working what is victory Mccain define your views and if the surge has work Test it and pull the troop out within 16 months. John Mccain can'nt define sucesss because he is seeing the war from his time when he experience the war which was at a different time. Times has change Mccain we need a current updated view. We need a new Policy which is Obama views.

Jane, MD   July 22nd, 2008 2:34 pm ET

Frightening? Frightening is their desperation, jealousy, and hatred of Sen Obama.

For the first time in 8 years, i did not cringe when an American leader took world center stage. Unlike McCain/Lieberman, no one had to correct anything Sen Obama said.

The Republicans are really desperate!

Frank O.   July 22nd, 2008 2:33 pm ET

If Obama's inexperience is frightening why is he getting a red carpet welcome from leaders around the world (Afghan, Iraq, Jordan, soon in Israel and Europe). i mean come on my felllow Americans, King Abdullah cut his Colorado trip short to be at his palace to recevie our furture president (Mr. President Obama).

And by the way, i thought that Iraq is no longer a war torn country, i thought it is stable now after the so called surge has worked. which one is it Ms. Wison? is Iraq stable or is it war torn?

Barak for PreZ of USA   July 22nd, 2008 2:33 pm ET

Yawn!!!!! STop whining!!!! Rethugs!!! They don't have any plans of their own. Can't attack Barak's policies, or jugement and can't provide the American people with any ideas or plans….Sounds like desperation to me….CNN keep covering Barak's trip….the McCain camp is literally putting us to sleep…

Peggy - TX   July 22nd, 2008 2:33 pm ET

McCain has the microphone, but he has nothing to say. CNN is committed to giving McCain the kind of attention Obama is getting and all he can do is repeat the same old boring rants in a weak attempt to appeal to the fear and anxieties of the American people.

Fear is the Republicans only weapon.
It has worked so well in the past. It is time to take the country back from these hypocrites and fearmongers.

NY   July 22nd, 2008 2:33 pm ET

This is great. The only way the McCain camp can get some attention is by using the Clinton "kitchen sink" strategy. Mistruths, blatant lies, distortions, even hypocrisy; whatever it takes to distract from the fact that McCain has NO REAL PLAN for Iraq except the status quo. It all reeks of desperation in a campaign that is running out of cards to play.

Chris - Columbus, Ohio   July 22nd, 2008 2:33 pm ET

Irishspacemonk   July 22nd, 2008 2:33 pm ET

FEAR TACTIC.. All these tactics by the McCain campaign are scary.. This is what Bush has done for the last 7 years. Fear Fear Fear… Another GOP = Goofy Old Person/Party speaking on behalf of another GOP Goofy Old Person. Where is the color in your party GOP?

Attack Attack and Attack.. If you have nothing nice to say, well the GOP way is say it anyways, no matter how tall the lies are.

Where in the US Constitution does it state anyone must have experience other than being 35 years of age or older and have been born in The United States to be President????? Would someone in the GOP show me that?

McCain is too old and senile to be president. I would take inexperience over senility any day. At least Obama would push a button and then ask what it is after the nukes have already started flying. Lets wake up America. McCain will start WW3 under his presidency!!!

Shon   July 22nd, 2008 2:32 pm ET

Who is this airhead anyway? Speaking of hearing what you wanna hear…I wonder did she hear her candidate confuse the Pakistan/Afghanistan border with Iraq/Pakistan? S. Fullmer   July 22nd, 2008 2:32 pm ET

Freddy   July 22nd, 2008 2:32 pm ET

Well said. I loved the article. Truth and Forthright is what I hear. Iraq has been working on a withdrawl with Bush for months and now Obama is going to claim it was him? Not likely. Next thing you know he'll be telling us that he is the one that solved world hunger. I don't think so.

Tony   July 22nd, 2008 2:32 pm ET

How can Wilson be considered a "leading surrogate" for anyone, especially considering that she failed in her bid for the Republican Senate nomination…

sf   July 22nd, 2008 2:32 pm ET

The ONLY thing the McCain campaign is doing is criticizing Obama. Why don't they focus on their platform and what they will do? McCain has lost one of his key stumping points with Obama's trip and that is the fact that he can no longer have the "countdown" of how many days since Obama has been to Iraq. Also, the fact that Obama is being received so well is very scary to McCain.

Brian   July 22nd, 2008 2:32 pm ET

AH YES, THE OLD "FEAR" TACTIC… well played McSame! Well played… George W. Bush and Karl Rove would be proud.

The only thing I'm frightened of is another 4 years of Republican subjugation.

Mike from Westchester   July 22nd, 2008 2:32 pm ET

Wilson who????????????? I guess she is what the Republicans call and expert – so much so, no one has heard of her. Did you see who Bush just appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff, so 20-something former boyfriend of one of the Bush girls. The joke on America just goes on and on.

If Obama is so inexperienced the why are we implementing his idea to move troops from Iraq to Afghanistan? Why are we now, as he suggested and was called an "appeaser" for, opening negotiations with Korea AND Iran? Why does it seem like the entire world supports his candidacy? Why does the Iraqi government seem to support his withdrawal plan?

Obama has consistently stated that we must be as careful getting out of Iraq as we were careless getting in. Translation: He intends to set a timetable to put pressure on the Iraqis, but the pace of withdrawal will depend on the situation on the ground and the advice of the Generals. This is what he has been saying for over a year now.

Warning: There is some idiot on this site today posting fictitious Obama quotes, purportedly from the "Audacity of Hope". Just more of the unethical lying smear campaign. I'm very glad I won't be on the BS Express with these sub-humans. Are you???????????

annpatricia   July 22nd, 2008 2:31 pm ET

What exactly does she say the Iraqi government said that Barack Obama didn't hear?

If the Iraqi government said something we should be informed about, why doesn't Heather Wilson say it loud and clear?

instead of informing, she is instilling vague doubt and fear. GOOD BYE Republicans! Thank you very much for all you've done.

McCain camp is "frighteningly fighting" for a headline!!!! hahaha How about some positivity come out of mccain camp!!

Yes We Can Obama 08

Wesley   July 22nd, 2008 2:31 pm ET

The Republicans are really starting to sound scared themselves. Worried that their candidate is failing miserable to generate interest amongst his base. McCain's surrogates are pathetic.

Josh Maloney, Oakland, CA   July 22nd, 2008 2:31 pm ET

Barack Obama is exactly who we need for international affairs. The USA needs to realize that the world is looking for new leadership. McCain only offers a continuation of Bush policy. People should think about the positive international perception Obama already has over McCain.

JD   July 22nd, 2008 2:31 pm ET

Does the McCain campaign truly want to continue to play the inexperience card when they are about to put Bobby Jindal, who just turned 37 in June, a septuagenariaun's heartbeat away from the Oval Office?

Biffington, Biff   July 22nd, 2008 2:31 pm ET

Andy said…
Truth hurts. It was already proven the Al Maliki quote was quoted incorrectly.
_ _ __ _ _ _ _ __ _ __ __ ____ _ __ _ _______ _ _ __ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Um… ACTUALLY, Andy… what was PROVEN, was that Maliki was quoted correctly and in context. AND THEN TWO OF HIS SURROGATES SAID IT IN "ENGLISH" so as to put ANY mis-interpretation to rest.

So, in your case, I do imagine, the truth DOES hurt.

Bob, San Francisco, CA   July 22nd, 2008 2:31 pm ET

Not "sophisticated" eh? Like the speech-challenged dunce we have in charge right now? Or the sell-out "maverick" who is "sophisticated" enough to not know the difference between Sunni and Shia, or that Czechoslovakia ceased to be a nation years ago?

I'm voting for the intelligent person in this campaign.

Cindy   July 22nd, 2008 2:31 pm ET

Just remember, McCain came in second place behind Bush!

Obama Rocks 08/12   July 22nd, 2008 2:31 pm ET

You have this all wrong Wilson if you put McParrot on there instead of Obama and then add senile you will have it correct .

You are voting for McParrot thats a blank slate ,a vp but don't forget to add Lieberman and Graham his elbow puppet men he has to have joined at the hip to remind McParrot of his misspeaking at his TOWN HALLS .

Noelle in Seattle   July 22nd, 2008 2:31 pm ET

Ha ha, "no way sophisticated enough". She sounds like a hillbilly. If I were speaking for McCain, I'd be careful who I called unsophisticated and unprepared. Who is this woman anyway? she didn't even get her party's nomination to run for Senate. Really high ranking.

Gary Chandler in Canada   July 22nd, 2008 2:31 pm ET

McCain is frighteningly experienced. How does bordering on suicide, giving up information right away, and making propaganda films for the Cong, all documented facts, make him a war hero?
Just look at his politcal record, not much beef and he made sure got on a Committee to seal all his POW records.

Jeff   July 22nd, 2008 2:30 pm ET

Look who's calling the kettle black! She just mad because she lost her house seat in a run for the senate which she has also lost. Her husband went to a "camp" to get ungay.

Xavier   July 22nd, 2008 2:30 pm ET

How many American soldiers would be alive today if we hadnt waged this unnecesarry war? The price of Republican so called, EXPERIENCE has been paid for with the blood of our loved ones. How many members of their families has Bush lost? Not one.

Ps.
John,
Enough with the Clinton should have, could have crap. Its getting old.

Bill, Streamwood, IL   July 22nd, 2008 2:30 pm ET

Yeah, Republican experience bungled the war in Afghanistan; left Osma bin Laden still alive and free almost seven years after killing almost 3,000 people on U.S. soil; instituted less than a third of the 9/11 Commision recommendations; got us into a useless war in Iraq over non-existent threats and links to terrorists; and allowed a person like Iran's Achmadinejad to rise to power and influence in the area.

Nice job GOP!!!!!!!!!

THE RIGHT   July 22nd, 2008 2:30 pm ET

See Obamas interivew with abc last night…. seemed a little flustered when asked about being wrong. Obama is telling people what they want to hear and not what is best. When asked about if the commanders in Iraq agreed with his timetable to withdraw troops, he stated " them and I are on different perspectives" well i agree, they are…. They are in IRAQ and know what they are talking about. Obama would rather win the election than win the war. I like Obama, but he has definately slipped in my thought of him as president.

Winston   July 22nd, 2008 2:30 pm ET

I agree REPUBLICANS ARE VERY SCURRRRRED. THEY ARE SHAKING IN THEIR BOOTS HAHAHA

Fred Sossaman   July 22nd, 2008 2:30 pm ET

You can't take anything this operative is saying seriously. She still
thinks Bush is doing a fantastic job and we aren't in a recession.

Rob Bachorik   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Someone needs to tell Heather she should finish kindergarten prior to giving her useless and hollow advice. Sounds like McCain, lot of hot air, but no meaningfun information to back it up.

carol   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Heather Wilson who? Another one looking for their 15 minutes.

BMBC First Lady   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

John McCain – we (Obama supporters) are not scared of you using the words 'fear, frightenly.'

Tim in Minnesota   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Oooooooh…Heather Wilson. There's a big name in the world of international politics. I'll bet everyone stops in the middle of what their doing to hear her opinion.

Matthew   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

It's not fear-mongering or desperation…it's the truth!

Signed,
A Disappointed Democrat

Tim   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Here they go again : Fear, hatred, inuendo, fabrications – and exactly what war has John McCain won in his lifetime ? " I know how to win wars" – McMUMBO JUMBO – get informed !

Elaine B   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

What's frightening is the one trillion dollar price tag on this war at a time when the US is entering a recession.

Danny   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Like everybody else in America………Who?

The Republican Party is dead.

ME   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

PT   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Okay, if he is so inexperienced, I would like to give him a try–the past "experienced" presidents haven't done much good!!

Farrell, Houston, Tx   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Another McCain nut case. WILSON, do you hear what the American people are saying and what part don't you understand we want withdrawal. I wonder where Wilson's finger is.

Donna   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

I don't know about everyone, I am getting real tired of the Republican Party being taken over by fascist. Remember that the last real " elected' Republican President of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower, warned us against the military-industrial complex (aka "fascism")

Abby   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

you want to know what’s really frightening? A senile prsident who continued to confuse things because he’s losing his bearings. McCain keeps getting away with stuff that would have ended Obama's career. Iraq/ Pakistan Boarder, Czechoslovakia, confusing Somalia and Sudan, difference between Sunni and Shia etc. This kinds of gaffs would have ENDED Obama’s chances. A clouded and confused mind is what’s frightening.

Swalker327   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Nothing can be more frightnening than another Bush term with McCain as president. How dare she say that Obama isn't listening to the whole of what the Iraqi government was saying — he's hearing what he wanted to hear. How about Bush NOT LISTENING TO THE AMERICAN PUBLIC WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO THE DANG WAR IN THE FIRST PLACE. TYPICAL REPUBLICAN!! What a bunch of losers!!

OBAMA MAMA '08!!

Kevin   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

The Repukes are so sickening. I quess they will say anything now so the needed Media can get their ratings and the Republican non-sense can get some air time.

Totally ridiculous

Lee-- Dallas, TX   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

This is becoming just like McKnowsVeryLittleAboutAnythingOtherThanWar: Old & Tired. These arguments suck.

FYI:

He doesn't know much about war other than surge, surge, and more surge. And getting the names of militant groups wrong, confusing the borders, misspeaking the names of Iraq/Iran/Afghanistan/Pakistan. Not willing to realize that Iraq wants us out sooner rather than later, and not to mention he isn’t too focused on catching Bin Laden and those responsible for 9/11.

Is this all his people know how to do, criticize and not offer any substantive policy proposals of their own. I think it is, because the American people are tired of the same old tired story.

Michael   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

Who cares what this twit from New Nowhere has to say? Never heard of her before today, hope to never read her name again. Once again the Republican party is campaigning on fear.

sagcat   July 22nd, 2008 2:29 pm ET

And what is it called when John McCain refers to the non-existent "Iraq-Pakistan border" (yesterday on GMA) and refers to "Czechoslovakia" in the present tense (just last week more than once) when it hasn't existed for 15 years?

THAT'S frightening. John McCain saying we could be in Iraq for a hundred years is frightening. McCain saying it's "not important" when American troops come home from Iraq is frightening.

Kaseam, Florida   July 22nd, 2008 2:28 pm ET

This woman is a joke. She needs to go back to kindergarden where she fits in better. She has the look of a school teacher.

Walter, Long Beach   July 22nd, 2008 2:28 pm ET

And her experience at something other than sucking up to John McCain is what, precisely?

Kilowog   July 22nd, 2008 2:28 pm ET

When will the republicans learns that "experience" does not mean that their canidate is right for the job. Americans have had 8 HORRIBLE years of their so-called "Experience" and that is more than enough.

Adam   July 22nd, 2008 2:28 pm ET

And GWB had soooo much experience when he entered office, that is, owning a baseball team and all. Give the guy a chance, at least he has new and thoughtful ideas. And if he's not that great at it yet, thats why we have 100's of people in politics so that they can help each other out which is what it should be (great minds should think together) not try to bash each other.

Chryssa   July 22nd, 2008 2:28 pm ET

I'm so tired of hearing this arguement, and I've yet to meet a Republican who doesn't agree that experience never did use any good.

Anthony Brown   July 22nd, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Obama heard correctly, you are the one trying to twist the prim miniters words and arm so that they lean in your favor. Sham on you, the american people are smarter then that.

JJ   July 22nd, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Who are you???? I wish they stop beating this issue up? Can we talk about the economy and why the gov't is bailing out Freddie and Fannie Mac when their CEO stands to make $20 million this year in salary????? No answers huh???? I thought so!

Donna   July 22nd, 2008 2:28 pm ET

I don't know about everyone, I am getting real tired of the Republican Party being taken over by fascist. Remember that the last real, elected, Republican President of the United States warned us against the military-industrial complex (aka "fascism")

Mike   July 22nd, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Bush. Cheney. Rumsfeld.

Yeah…if that's what 'experience' brings to the table, then my vote is overwhelmingly for 'inexperience' in '08…

Go Obama!

Donna   July 22nd, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Who is this woman and why should we care about what she says?

Poor GOP..they are so scared they have the fearmongers coming out of the sticks now!!!!!

Dave C - NJ   July 22nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

So McCain declares victory.

Fine, let's leave. Why are the repukes on here saying that Obama is declaring a loss? What??

McCain doesn't have much more presidential experience BTW..I'd vote for a Dem Dogcatcher VS a Repub Senator anyday….

aaron from minneapolis   July 22nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

Obama was right about Iraq from the start. Where are the WMDs Mrs. Wilson? Obama was right about Afghanistan. Obama was right about talking to Iran and are other enemies. Obama is right on the environment. Obama wants to give immediate relief to famies at the pump by giving them another stimulus check, not drilling for more oil which in return hurts the environment more. who was right? It's pretty safe to say Obama has plenty of experience and plenty of judgement. Go back to your hole Wilson.

irene   July 22nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

G.W.BUSH DIDN'T LISTEN WHEN HE STARTED ALL OF THIS.
HE HAD NO FORIEGN POLICY EXPERIENCE,DIDN'T EVEN KNOW MOST OF THE OTHER COUNTRIES ARE WHO RAN THEM WHEN HE WAD APPOINTED PRESIDENT.

Jim in Texas   July 22nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

As they say she hit the "nail on the head". It really is scary to think having someone like Obama as President…….God Help Us!

MMN-Milwaukee WI   July 22nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

McCain keeps telling me that he knows how to win wars. Exactly which war did he win again?

GSOres   July 22nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

Isn't this the same person who sought to have meritless indictments issued against political opponents and subsequently have them fired US attorneys because for refusing to do so? Now, that's really scary.

BJ   July 22nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

Think the Republicans are the ones that are scared, and it sure isn't because of Obama's lack of experience. They are scared their wallets may not be as fat as usual. It's time someone had to pay besides the little people.

Jake   July 22nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

OK, as opposed to Bush's extensive international experience and deep policy undertstanding when he ran in 2000 (or in 2004 for that matter)

Ced   July 22nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

I like the way Republicans continue to play the experience card. Look at the mess that the current President's Experience has gotten us into.

Mary   July 22nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

What a loser she is. McCain is some old fogey that fought in one foreign war. Obama is a multiracial, multinational man that has lived abroad and has always had a diverse set of friends and a diverse world view. It is McCain that is inexperienced when it comes to the rest of the world. Sorry, but fighting in Vietnam, while admirable, does not mean you have foreign policy experience. Neither does being GW's lackey.

Justin from West Haven, CT   July 22nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

Inexperienced at not screwing the nation over is good to have.

Lauren   July 22nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

Frightening and unsophisticated. Dancing very near the line of streotyping Obama's race.

Jeffrey G. Brown   July 22nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

Give me a break! Obama will select the best advisors in the country when he is in office. Is this all the GOP has to throw at him?

Sally   July 22nd, 2008 2:27 pm ET

That's why we don't want another idiot in the office. Obama is just a version of George W Bush with no judgment and experience!

Aaron Davis   July 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

That really upsets me that this Rep. from Arizona doesn't even know what the Iraqi Prime Minister had even said. The people and their newly formed government wan't U.S. troops out. Please let me know how Obama "heard what he wanted to hear…took a simple message and decided it helped him politically." Is there more meaning to "we can handle our own country"? I guess Obama decided early on, from his "inexperienced career", to politically put himself against a war! Obama voted against it, his record clearly states it, but I guess he is "politically' picking and choosing now! Come one, try again McCain!

Pretty Ricky   July 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

While its true that Obama does not have as much experience as McCain-at least he has judgement, knowldege, and common sense! Those are all things that McCain lacks!

Caryn, WDC   July 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Go back to Czechoslovakia.

Cy Brown   July 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Barack Obama is frightening! What's more frightening, however, is all of these Kool-Aid drinking, Obama cult robots! Kind of reminds me of Germany during the build-up to WWII…

DR T M Kemnitz   July 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Cheney, Rumsfeld, and the rest of the gang were frighteningly experienced, and their judgment was awful. Obama has lived in a part of the world these guys have only flown over, and his judgment has proven to be spot on about places he has only visited briefly.

McCain is the one who is truly frightening with his economic ignorance.

Kevin The K in SEA   July 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Every Republican who has had ANYTHING to say about Iraq has been WRONG (with the exception of The Surge strategy – but they were totally WRONG about WHY it would work!). I don't believe ANYTHING coming from their lips about The Middle East! Greeted as liberators – WRONG! Cheap war – WRONG! Quick – WRONG! WMDs – WRONG! 9/11 link – WRONG! Dead-enders – WRONG! The Insurgency is on it's last legs – WRONG! Reconstruction will be financed by gas profits – WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!

I have had it. Obama '08

drone   July 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

So what qualifies anyone to run for president? Is it the way they ran they're campaign? Maybe it's the number of times they voted and the outcome was a positive for the people! Maybe its the decision making abilities they've shown through they're political career?

Short as his experience years wise, Obama is leading in all catogories.. And when you think about it, anyone compared to McCain would be inexperienced if you just look at the number of years… he's like ancient..

And who cares what this lady is saying, she needs to focus on why her canidate continually references nonexistent countries and the differences between the fighting parties in Iraq… Better yet WILSON…HAS MCCAIN ANSWERED THAT VIAGRA QUESTION YET ?

malclave   July 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Obama has outright stated that the Constitution would not apply to him (up to 10 years as president?). I know you libs like to say the same thing about Bush, but if any of you are reasonable, you have to admit that anything the SCOTUS has determined to be unconstitutional has been discontinued.

It's nice seeing, though, that this blog is just as infatuated with Obama as the rest of the paparazzi in the media ("surrogate"?)… I was starting to think that CNN might have competent journalists.

Tom   July 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

And I call John McCain "frighteningly" dumb! Maybe Mr. Mccain should spend some time on the Iraqi and Pakistani border.

California Voter   July 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Obama's inexperience and a big question about his core values causes me not to support him for President. Three years in the Senate and his years as a "community organizer" and state senate do not make me comfortable with his experience. His twenty year membership in a black liberation church with its "non-negotiable commitment to Africa" and the words of Rev. Wright make me very wary of Obama — to say nothing of my concerns about his wife.

leslie   July 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

The republicans look mean and silly. The name calling they have done today is also sad. They are a blast from the past.

Peg   July 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

What is frightening is the MSM letting McCain get away with this war-mongering. Somebody please tell him the Vietnam, oops I mean Iraq war should come to an end.

Josh   July 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Now hiring:
Job: US President
Experience: Must be born in the US, with a minimum age of 35.

McCain was not born in the US.

Dan, NJ   July 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

I'm not sure which way to go with this one: Either point out that Obama got Maliki's comments right… and Maliki repeated them a day later through an aid specifically saying timetable OR pointing out that all of McCain's experience can't even help him realize Checkosovakia is not a country, Somalia and the Sudan are different places and IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN ARE DIFFERENT PLACES.

Tough choice.

Nevada Independant   July 22nd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

IS SHE KIDDING?????
First of all, Obama has advocated the same plan for Iraq and Afganistan for the duration of his campaign, and even longer in the case of Iraq. He's certainly not "holding his finger in the wind" to detect the current political climate. How ridiculous.
Second, John McCain has a tough situation on his hands. He refuses to acknowledge that the Iraqi people and their government have expressed a desire for our presence to end. He's take the George W Bush stance of "I'm the decider". Well, here is a news flash for McCain and his supporters – We are NOT the deciders when it comes to how long we can occupy another nation. They are the deciders. So, all of the so-called experience McCain isn't serving him very well in this situation – his experience tells him that we shouldn't leave (even when they want us to). Sounds like more of the same garbage from the current administration.
This lady is completely full of it. They loaded her lips and sent her out to talk nonsense to people.
We've had enough of your fear mongering and insistance that we have a war-loving president! We don't need someone who has more experience shooting a gun – we need someone with more experience using negotiations to reach peaceful solutions.

Lee from FL   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

I cant wait till McCain wins,we will have a permanent base in IRAQ and ill finally be able to do combat in IRAN!
Bombs away!

Chris (CT)   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

Just another case of the republicans playing to the lowest common denominator.

Pam   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

Does anyone in the McCain campaign have anything good to say about McCain? All they do is bash Obama.

Cara Valente-Compton   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

Heather Wilson's attack on Barack Obama are laughable. The voters in New Mexico rejected her opinions and policies in June, and she is desperately seeking relevance. Her only shot at that is to get her foot in the door in a McCain administration, which is growing less likely by the day.
Heather best be careful what she wishes for, because if she is indeed clinging to the hope that she will have a cabinet position in a fantasy "McCain Administration" she will be subject to a lot of scrutiny she doesn't want or need, and her involvement in the justice department scandal, and personal scandal involving the improper removal of her own husband's Division of Family Services file when she ran that agency.

Collin   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

Wow you guys are really showing your maturity with those comments.

"She is alarmingly frightening to look at."
"LMAO"
"Yawn"
"And I call John McCain 'frighteningly' old!"

And you expect people to take you seriously?

Obama-Junkie, IL   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

Why is the mainstream media listening to Rep. Heather Wilson, R-New Mexico? Heather Wilson has never been to Iraq or Afghanistan! Heather Wilson has not met with the Prime Ministers of Afghanistan or Iraq!

Why is her comments worth reporting? Because they are controversial?

It is comments from McCain and his surrogates like these that anger me when the McCain camp and conservative journalists throw out Piyush Jindal's name as a VP option for McCain!

If Obama is "frighteningly inexperienced" what does this make Piyush "Bobby" Jindal?!?!

Monoj Bhatt   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

What is this "BUZZ" about experience ?????

Is it not TRUE that " ALL THE BUSH" were VERY VERY EXPERIENCED.

BULL !!!

David, Silver Spring, MD   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

Oh brother. Enough of the hyperbole, McQueeg.

If you want to talk about frightening, how about a notorious hothead who can't keep his countries straight sleeping so close to the nuclear launch button.

McQueeg's the kind of guy who can go ballistic because he ran out of strawberries!

Hans-Erik Iken   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

So Bush has been a leader and McCain will be as well? If that is the path they are leading the US down then I think most citizens will say thanks but no thanks…

They can try to throw their dirt to try and make Obama look as dirty as they are, but they are just tossing it in the wind that blows it right back on themselves.

It is over republicans, you messed up and now Obama will start to clean your bloody mess up.

Casey   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

Obama inexperienced? McCain has confused Sunni and Shiite on several occasions, and "mistakenly" claimed (more than once) that Iran supports Al Qaeda!

karen-phoenix   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

AND We do not want any more Old Experience in Washington. Circle of Life–Out with the OLD in the NEW. McCain scares me to death!!! I'm 64 and all I see in him is my dead friends from the Vietnam war and my grandchildrens dead friends from the Iraq war. I want some big changes in Washington–Peace is Patriotic and Obama represents hope, intellegence, peace and prosperity!!!!

PT   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

What is there to be afraid of ????? The president needs the backing of Congress to do anything………………GOOD GRIEF!!!!!!!!!!!!

Neal M.   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

Heather Wilson is so fake when she tries to blast Obama for having his "finger in the wind ". She is in so much political trouble in New Mexico that she has been doing for the last two years what she accuses Obama of doing now. She barely when re-election in 2006. She will likely lose re-election this year; good riddence!

I'll take my chances on an Obama that has his finger to the wind rather than seriously listening to a Bush lover like Wilson who has her finger up her behind.

These McCain people are laughable. On the one hand they criticize the 46-year old Obama for "lack of experience" yet the McCain campaign is probably going to pick Bobby Jindl, the 37-year old governor of one of the least progressive states, to be his VP. God save us from them all.

Arthur_Lemay   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

I am 70 years old. I think better, know better, and I am more detemined than ever. So, it's true that John McCain is old. But it's also true that Obama is a fool, knows nothing, has no values, wants to raise taxes, put government in charge of controlling every single company, in short, he wants to destroy America as we know it.

So, what do you all want? A loyal American who is old, or a young subversive who wants to take away your liberty and make you poor to give your money to foreign countries and to those who don't want to work, or don't know how?

Raj   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

The funny thing is that John McCain is frighteningly stupid. He has made mistakes after mistakes in this campaign. He has absolutely no diplomacy. He has done pretty much exactly the same thing as George W. Bush has done. Bomb, bomb Iran? Frighteningly stupid man. He demanded Obama to go to the mid-east, and now he is putting that down. How much more stupid can he get.

We definitely do not need another STUPID President. WE need someone who is intelligent and educated in there. You can never teach old dogs new tricks. Folks leave this old dog behind! Time for a change!

Cheryl   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

I'm far more frightened of John McCain. He's supposed to have all this experience, but he doesn't seem to have learned anything in the process. We've had 7+ years of a President who is unwilling to learn new things and look at where that has gotten us.

Concerned INDEPENDENT CT voter   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

They hate that Obama gets Sooo much news coverage…. yeah…. well so do I… but hey…. Say something that excites americans & not try & bring down someone else & i'm sure you'll get it..

Sorry to call you a neighbor   July 22nd, 2008 2:25 pm ET

Heather .. as per your comments — there are over 4000 American heroes who would like to reply to your rants — but unfortunately they are dead —

Maybe experience is not the whole equation — maybe … just maybe … we need some new ideas — not the same old bulls**t from Bush and McCain — this is not a matter of "winning a war" … but you and the GOP do not understand that

What exactly all of this "experience" that ancient John is suppose to have? Please, list the exact experience with bullet points.

Spending 20+ years in the Senate with extremely little to show for it? Is THAT the "experience" that Republicans are crowing about? Sorry, but as much as I respect what he endured in Viet Nam, spending time in a tiger cage has nothing to do with being the Commander in Chief.

Yes, Obama is inexperienced. But guess what…McCain has led nothing but the rush to bail on his ill wife while cheating with a rodeo queen.

Oh poor rebublicans, they want to go down in Guiness book of World Records with the election of someone older than Methusaleh, in the bible and more airhead than Cindy Snow from 3's Company.

McCain has no more experience than Obama, and if you ask me its frightening to hear him say that Soldiers dont come home unless the war is won. I say to that, here is a man who was so inexperienced he got shot down (unfortunately) but fortunate to have his life, and come home from the war in Vietnam that was certainly not won!! Yet he wants our brothers and sisters in the military to continue laying down their lives just to save face for the republicans who got us into the war?

To me people that makes no sense what so-ever.

It is scary, Obama's friends are not that desirable. Staying in a hate filled church for 20 years and giving money to the church shows what he thinks about America. The pictures that the media puts out always show him looking towards the heavens. There is something wrong with that and a bit scary.

Rocky   July 22nd, 2008 2:24 pm ET

Heather Wilson.

The same politician who led a crusade against the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction while we had our brave men and women dying in Iraq for our leaders' illegal occupation.

The same politician who decided that a breast was more damaging to Americans than the multiple caskets coming home from Iraq.

The same politician who decried a brief shot of nudity while images of maimed people crossed our television screens.

And now she's telling us how to vote?

Based on her previous judgments, she just gave us another reason to vote for Obama in November.

Lynne   July 22nd, 2008 2:24 pm ET

He is frightening. So many of us feel this way and the media just overlooks us. I think there are more against him than for him. The media is overplaying him way too much!

Peter   July 22nd, 2008 2:24 pm ET

"I mean he is frighteningly inexperienced when it comes to international affairs and national security policy," she added. "And he heard what he wanted to hear from the Iraqi government, without any context around it, and took that simple message and decided it helped him politically. That's the antitheses of what we should expect from a president of the United States"

I'm confused: Reading this immediately brings to mind G.W. (Gutless Wonder) Bush.

I'd say that these attributions by Heather Wilson are about the stupidist things I could imagine coming out of her mouth, but I won't. Because I know she open her mouth again.

MMN-Milwaukee WI   July 22nd, 2008 2:23 pm ET

Let the truth be told, we are paying the warring factions in Iraq of Sunnis, Shiites, and Sadr militias they did not just stand down for nothing, so their infighting (civil war) is on hold and that makes the surge look good. Take away the dollars and the surge will look like a joke.

eric   July 22nd, 2008 2:23 pm ET

Are these people seeing the same reality we are? This person is criticizing Obama for thinking al-Maliki supported his withdrawal plan and saying Obama only heard what he wanted to hear. Are you serious? That's exactly what al-Maliki did! Obama's finger is in the wind? He's the one leading by giving us defined plans for every problem we face. All McCain can do is criticize everything Obama does without giving any details of his own plans. This person is clearly not sane enough to be holding office and should be recalled since she keeps accusing Obama of the exact same things McCain is doing.

She also forgets that Lincoln had the same experience that Obama does, and he turned out just fine. Truman also had no foreign policy experience and was deliberately kept in the dark by FDR, and yet he guided us through the end of WWII, the beginning of the Cold War and establishing our policy of containment (which worked incredibly well), the Marshall Plan, the creation of Israel and the United Nations. So much for a lack of experience hurting someone.

The Republicans keep talking about the lack of experience that Obama has, but don't want to acknowledge the fact that he makes up for it with GOOD JUDGEMENT.

"Experience" can be a great thing, but if you still don't make good choices (or policies, etc.) it doesn't really count for much. In fact, it should be telling that DESPITE all his experience, John McCain's policies, actions, and statements are as off-the-mark as they are. All his experience has him confused between Sunni and Shia, and looking for the Iraq/ Pakistan border (I think its near Checkosolovakia). Sure, Obama has a lot to learn, but face it, he's starting off in a much better position than your average politician…

It is notable that Heather Wilson (R-NM) lost her bid in the Republican primary for retiring Senator Pete Domenici's seat, and has nearly lost

her opinion meaningful? Hardly.

I checked out Rep. Wilson's website to see what her bona fides were to give her the authority to claim Obama is, "frighteningly inexperienced when it comes to international affairs and national security policy," and did not see much there. Are Republicans just going to come out of the woodwork to proclaim inexperience like Hillary and repeat, "the surge worked, the surge worked," like Giuliani kept talking about 9/11 thinking it would guarantee the presidency? In case McCain is not aware, the repetitive proclomations and claims of inexperience did not work too well for Giuliani/Hillary.

It is truly pathetic how little material McCain has that this same story is repeated five times on the CNN ticker. I guess the media is afraid of McCain throwing a fit about how they are being unfair so they balance every story about Obama with the same story for McCain that is uttered by varying supporters. Do the Republicans really think the voters are that dumb? I am hoping most people finally learned their lesson after 8 years of Bush.

Obama's "frightening inexperience" is quickly being erased by his intelligence and foresight to visit the world's hotspots for a first hand, up-to-the-minute status report, just like any competent CEO or commander-in-chief should do.

The only people in the country that are frightened are McCain's campaign and his dwindling horde of Republican followers…as well they should be. There is going to be shock and awe in November, and the rumble of an Obama landslide.

History should tell us that experience does not make for a great president. Critics had the same to say of FDR, Lincoln and Kennedy.

If experience made for great presidents, why don't the Republicans simply pick the oldest senator as their nominee every time?

Because we all know that experience is but a small part of what makes a president great. Not having experience doesn't mean a whole lot. Character, vision and a willingness to work does matter.

We need new ideas and Obama has them.

Slock   July 22nd, 2008 2:22 pm ET

Wow, McCain sure is running a positive campaign. Sounds like the core group he surrounded himself with is coming up with some great ideas.

"Hey, I got an idea, lets try to scare the nation into thinking that Obama isn't qualified. Since John doesn't have anything to add to a subject other than I was for the surge, we will paint Obama as an inexperienced, dangerous person. It worked in 00′ and 04′!"

McCain is the one that is scary. He wants to drain our economy so that we can have "victory" in Iraq. What does that mean? He has no clue economically, his number one economic advosor thinks we are all imagining that we can't pay our bills. McCain's only solution to lower pay and rising costs is to dump your current spouse and marry someone with 100 million dollars. If only it were that easy.

Charles   July 22nd, 2008 2:21 pm ET

Florida democrat   July 22nd, 2008 2:21 pm ET

Actually, it is the republican party that likes to take comments out of context and choose short statements that may benefit them politically.

Anyone and everyone that saw the interview and saw the direct statements know exactly what al-Maliki was saying. Not only was it in a German newspaper, but it was reported in many other global sources.

Wake up America, CNN does not have to be your only source of world news. There are many great news sources available from around the globe that does not have American bias stamped in it.

WHY WILL CNN NOT REPORT THE COMPLETE STORY?! (HUFFINGTONPOST HAS IT!)

The McCain campaign has come up with an intriguing new way to sell his opposition to a timetable for withdrawal: McCain just might withdraw from Iraq sooner than Obama's 16 month deadline!

"He'd like troops to come home earlier than 16 months if the conditions allow it," said Congresswoman Heather Wilson of New Mexico, on a conference call with reporters just now. "Senator Obama has said it's a 16-month timeline no matter what."

Wilson walked this line back a bit later on, reminding people that any such withdrawal would have to be based on conditions on the ground, and might take longer: "Whether that happens in 12 months, or 16 months, or 24 months, the important thing is that our troops come home with victory

I watched Obama on Nightline last night, his interview about his trip to Iraq and everything he was questioned about he backed out of what he had previously stated and put a different spin on it to explain away the difference in his statements. He is just another politician (inexperienced at that) saying whatever he thinks will put him ahead. And the media never picks up on his flip flopping…because they have crowned him president and that's the end of that…people better be careful what they wish for…might blow up in their faces. No Obama as far as I am concerned.

She is right on target. Someone with this little experience should not be running for President. He has already changed his position on almost every issue he spoke so strongly about during the primaries. In the future, I hope we have new laws requiring those running for President to have a certain level of experience. He should have waited but was too power hungry and he will lose in November!

Inexperienced or not, I do not believe he could screw up this Nation more than 7 plus years of Bush have done. At least, he has the sense to recognize unnecessary wars, mismanagement, lies, near criminal activity, and so on. What Bush and his partners in the White House have done TO this nation is mind boggling. At any other time, he would have long ago been in the impeachment docks and out of office. The man has been a total disaster for this great Nation.

And characterizing the improvements in Iraq solely as the consequence of the SURGE, SURGE, SURGE, SURGE – that's not a gross simplification for political expediency?

Don't believe these republicans they are gonna beat this horse to death…why because Mccain has no new or innovative ideas of his own to talk about. Did I see a story saying that Mccain has an add out blaming Obama for high gas prices? How on earth is he at fault for the gas prices? Mccain you don't make any sense!!! Oh and I guess if Obama would support new off shore drilling that would bring th prices down….oh yea that's right…that wouldn't affect us for 10 years!!

He can't even focus on himself or his own policies because he has none…besides stay in Iraq forever and never change policy. They are also scared of the fact that Obama's 16 month withdrawal plan fits perfectly into what PM Al-maliki would like to see happen. Doesn't Mccain get it…the more he blasts Obamas new ideas the more he looks like Mcbush. I cannot stand these republicans….

McOld has another glitch in his message, which I hope Obama picks up on soon. McOld keeps keeps saying the surge has worked. If it has worked, than why can't our troops come home? A true victory means the war is over, and our troops can come home. Why does McOld want to keep the troops over there? So that it can continue to appear that we have victory. As soon as our troops come home, things will go crazy over there. So again, how long does McOld want to keep our troops over there. I think he said 100 years.

If Wilson feels Senator Obama is so inexperienced maybe she should tell the White House to stop implementing his suggestions and come up with some solutions of their own. Oh, that's right the policies that he expressed and Bush copied are working and for the first time in his 7 plus years he's experiencing foreign policy success.

John   July 22nd, 2008 2:19 pm ET

So Barack Obama spends the entire primary season promoting a withdrawal plan that is now being endorsed by the Iraqi Prime Minister and he is accused of "not leading"? Obama has proven time and time again to have the proper foresight and judgment when it comes to US foreign policy decisions. McCain and his cronies can try to scare the American public into voting for more of the same when it comes to our failed foreign policy, but I honestly don't think it will work this time.

Objective Person   July 22nd, 2008 2:19 pm ET

I read CNN news all the time and I have to admit my interest on this election campaign has increased. This is the first time I am commenting on any news article.

As an objective person I have seen that Sen. McCain has been attacking on anything Sen. Obama says. I thought Obama gave a very good press conference regarding his visit to Iraq. Still McCain and his camp are twisting words and trying to blind sight american public. I find that very sad and desperate move.

I cannot vote, however, I will admit that if I had a choice Sen. Obama would be the one.

Charlotte   July 22nd, 2008 2:19 pm ET

What the Republicans fail to acknowledge is that McCain is just as inexperienced in terms of leadership as Obama. I think it's despicable that they start resorting to Wille Horton type scare tactics already. And frankly, just because someone is inexperienced (if it were true) does not mean they are any more likely to make poor decisions. But Wilson is simply spouting the party line to try and get their candidate into office. As a New Mexican, I've always been ashamed that our only female representative is so incapable of independent thought. It reflects poorly on us (New Mexicans as well as women).

Janelle   July 22nd, 2008 2:19 pm ET

This becoming nauseating to say the least

Tiffany   July 22nd, 2008 2:19 pm ET

Isn't it a little early in the campaign for McCain to be throwing so much dirt? I think it shows that he cannot articulate his own policies, he can only trash Obama's.

The Republicans are parsing words. We all heard what The Iraqi Prime Minister said and Obama interpretation is accurate. McCain is not going win new converts by repeating the same inaccurate accusations against Obama over and over again. The American people are not as easily fooled as in the past by simple repetition of lies.

America

Didn’t Hitler occupy must of Europe for fascist expansion?

Didn’t USSR occupy Eastern European Countries for political reasons?

Didn’t Saddam occupy Kuwait for oil?

So my question is this to the McWar Camp and the GOP; are we the United States occupying Iraq? They do not want us there and the McWar and the GOP are not listening to the Iraqi people and there leaders. So what are the reasons for our occupation in Iraq’ according to McWar and the GOP? I never thought the US would take this approach for expansion of democracy, political gain and for oil. It will be a sad day in America if we continue to force our values and ideology on this country.

And, gee, a Republican criticizing the Democratic nominee? Wow, who would have thought that. Blow me over.

Obama 08: white, 60 year old woman   July 22nd, 2008 2:14 pm ET

CNN's answer to John McCain's whining about media coverage is to try to even it out by posting the only news out of the McCain campaign which is to attack, and distort.

McCain is running for the President of the United States. Does he have any plans for the future? Does he have any positive vision? Does he have a definition for success?

Is this how he would run foreign policy? Seems like almost eight years of this has been a disaster.

As for Ms. Wilson, taking a phrase out of context and using it for political gain is exactly what the Karl Rove politics have mastered. Obama might simply be using the Republicans own tactics against them. It's laughable to read her words regarding his playing politics. Pot, meet Kettle.

If I recall correctly, Obama wants us out in ABOUT sixteen months. He said he was willing to make changes if needed. I also believe a timetable for troop withdrawl will help our progress in Iraq.

also,

The prime minister may not have officially endorsed Obama's withdrawl plan, but he does agree with the general sixteen month timetable.

Let's talk about how with all john's so called experience, he supported this senseless war and still does? He wanted a gas tax holiday which over 300 economists said was no good. He wants to drill off shore where we will not see any results for at a minimum 7 years. He criticized Obama for wanting to use diplomacy with our enemies and now the US is using diplomatic relations with North Korea and Iran. He wants 45 nuclear facilities built with no means of disposing of their wastes. Good thing it doesn't take experience to run this country but sound judgement which Obama has abundantly. George W Bush Jr. had 'experience'………

Yet again…another nobody that no one cares or want to here from! If the surge worked so great as they keep saying the why ARE WE STILL THERE, with troop level higher than they were pre-surge! I guess they think that if they repeat it a 100 times by 100 different surrogates then more people would start to believe it. They will try anything to divert attention away from the economy which McCain was supposed to be talking about this week!

Joe   July 22nd, 2008 2:10 pm ET

I guess desperate people do desperate things. The GOP knows that this election is just about fear. Frankly, that has been their winning mantra in past elections, so why should we expect anything different this time around?

Insanity is often described as doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.

The candidates with "experience" (which translates into lifelong politicians who don't see the need to change course) got us into the situation of $4.25 gasoline and $4 for a loaf of bread. They supported a war that has cost us hundreds of billions of dollars and not made us safer (but instead has increased anti-American sentiment around the world).

That is the type of "experience" being offered by the McCain campaign.

Seriously, I've had enough of that type of experience.

Rob   July 22nd, 2008 2:08 pm ET

So the day after a poll comes out wherein more people think the media is biased to Obama, CNN lines up story after story of every nasty thing being said about him, whereas al-Maliki's statement doesn't even mention a story, only a footnote!

CNN, I'm a big fan, but don't blow in the wind like this!

If Obama spits into the wind, its just going to land right back on his face.

Substance over Hype!! McCain '08

Krissy   July 22nd, 2008 2:07 pm ET

She obviously hasn't listened to McCain on foreign relations! He keeps referring to countries that don't exist, borders that don't exist, and incredibly simplistic views of the surge and Iraq.

So far McCain and the Bush adminstration have followed Obama on Iran, Afghanistan, and Iraq. What is next?

Judgement over Experience   July 22nd, 2008 2:07 pm ET

Yeah sweetie, keep spouting those same repug lies while your boy mccain shows how wrong he's been on the war, the surge, foreign policy and the economy not to mention his continuous exit of campaign staffers. It takes judgement, not so called 'experience'. GWB had 'experience'. Enough said.

Grog in Ohio   July 22nd, 2008 2:06 pm ET

>>"He's not listening to the whole of what the Iraqi government was saying — he's hearing what he wanted to hear…"<<

Wow… that sounds remarkably like the current president! Does Rep. Wilson suffer from selective amnesia?

182 days till the end of the Bush administration.

What's frightening is to imagine McCain as President.

Saad from NJ   July 22nd, 2008 2:05 pm ET

Sometimes inexperience can be a good thing… Look at how much experience Chaney has….. I don't know about others but that's frightening to me. In fact so frightening that I am sitting outside in 90 degrees and I am shivering….
