No word yet on whether Bush will appear with McCain at RNC.

(CNN) — White House Press Secretary Dana Perino has confirmed that President Bush will address the Republican National Convention on its first night.

Perino told reporters today at the White House briefing that President Bush will deliver a speech on September 1, Labor Day. She said incumbent presidents traditionally address the RNC on the first night of the convention.

The White House has not yet said whether Bush might appear with presumptive nominee John McCain at the convention. The two men have made few joint public appearances since McCain effectively claimed his party’s nomination this spring, as the president’s approval ratings continue to hover near historic lows.

Republicans will hold their convention September 1-4, 2008 in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. Democrats are slated to hold their convention the week before in Denver, Colorado.

I'd love to see McCain and Bush on stage together. McCain could show-off his brown nose from the tucas kissing he's done to the very person who denigrated him way further in 2000 than the dems ever will in this election.

– 2008 McCain/Bush/Cheney campaign button….CHECK
– 4100 dead, with more to come, so 9-11 will never again be
launched from Iraq…..CHECK

What's the PROBLEM? Wouldn't you WANT a 2-term sitting President to appear with you? What's wrong Johnny Boy? Are you ashamed of Bush also? Buck up and be a man. He's in your party. What's wrong?

I would be lost without my daily dose of hate and venom from Texas Trail Dog. That man is so full of anger it is amazing he doesn't just explode. I used to get really riled up when I read his comments. He is so far over the top that I have learned to laugh at him and now enjoy his comments very much.
Keep up the amusing comments Texas Dog.
We can all use a good laugh.

Uncle Sam .. "For those who hate President Bush, I have a message: Get over it.
Now let's work together for the good of the country."

You're right, we are going to get over it for the good of the country. It will be the biggest landslide in history. Mcain will lose.

Mad as hell and not going to take it anymore   July 23rd, 2008 7:26 pm ET

So – McCain would not be seen ANYWHERE with Bush … he has enough to deal with already – He would sooner do a photo-op with Ahmadinejad —

The great thing for Barack is that there are plenty of pictures of John and George together already .. hopefully he will use these to his advantage …

No third term for Bush – Elect Obama!!

jim   July 23rd, 2008 7:22 pm ET

IT WILL BE A LANDSLIDE!!!!! The 1st black Pres, and it will be the widest margins in history! Read these posts, that gives you an idea of American anger for what has been done to our country be these people. Bush has caused an American disaster and Mccain wants to continue it. Just keep doing what you're doing and soon we can try to forget about you, because you will be gone.

IT WILL BE AN ABSOLUTE LANDSLIDE !!

Same George W. Bush who let Karl Rove do push polling about mccains black daughter in 2000? McCain should be ashamed of himself for being friends with people like George W. Bush and Karl Rove.

Bush and McCain arm-in-arm at the GOP convention would save Obama millions of $$ in campaign advertising costs. Icing on the cake for a McBush LOSS on election day.

They are two gerkins, in my opinion — sour and green (with envy). Two men who benefited from legacy/affirmative action in the military and school. Wow. They didn't see a meritocracy taking over. These men are two fools thinking their daddies would save them till the end. What a sad but fateful American story.

Go OBAMA – symbol of hard work and true American spirit.

Well said, "Texas Trail Dog".

I wish the Obamites would think of some original material besides the usual "Mc" isms, age-ism, and their little rants.

If you want a good laugh, watch Obama stammer and stutter his way through an explanation of what he said about sitting down with Iran's leaders. No wonder that this empty suit will not agree to a townhall with McCain. McCain will slaughter him in a debate.

Donna from Colorado Springs   July 23rd, 2008 6:44 pm ET

Please, oh please let Bush appear with McCain. I mean, McCain has the election already won, in his mind. What could Bush possibly do to make things worse for the republicans? Let George put his arm around McCain on stage at the convention, smile that stupid smile of his, and pledge his undying support for his good buddy. Dumb and dumber……side by side!

Alexis   July 23rd, 2008 6:43 pm ET

I think USA gonna get punked again by the republican party the same way they did in 2000 and 2004…..gas price is very high, the economy is at its worst moment, we have a seating president saying wall street is drunk, our foreign policy is viewed the worst around the world and all McCain is talking about is winning the war in Iraq. I think the only policy McCain has in his agenda is engaging the USA in nothing else but more war,war and war. His only agenda is to follow orders from his boss Bush, wake up people if we don't stand up right now we gonna lose this country even more, things gonna sink deeper and deeper. We need to stand up for something or we going to fall for anything.

The RNC is in trouble. For one, not alot of Conservative voters even Like McCain. He wants to doubleup on the failed policies of Bush that put us in the mess we are in now.

And Ron Paul will be protesting with I've heard either 100,000 or 200,000 People. This has got to be VERY interesting. Ron Paul supporters refuse to vote for McCain. Other conservatives are going for Bob Barr.

Obama will win in a landslide, it's only a matter of time.

Could somebody, anybody, please tell me what Senator John McCain's IQ is? What Self Professed Intelligent Politician today would be caught Dead at a public function of any description with the current President? And could any intelligent human being truly expect a joint appearance with Dubyah would garner votes as the Republican Nominee???? If Senator McCain is that far out of touch with reality he has no business running as Nominee. If Dubyah's record is not enough proof for McCain, San Francisco residents formed a group soliciting support to have a Sewage Plant named after Bush. Does it get any clearer than that?? Sorry but I'm just astonished that a supposed to be intelligent politician could be so ??????? Naive?

I just love the blogs from Republicans. They sound mad at progressives for how messed up this administration has made America. How can you Republicans even think that putting McCain in office will make things better. Why would you want any Republican become president? If McCain wins, it will really brand your party after four more years of this, and might mean that it will be decades before another Republican becomes president. That is if we don't completely collapse as a great nation. Be glad that Obama or any other demacrat wants to tackle this utter mess that Bush has left.

Brian G, Sugar Land, TX   July 23rd, 2008 6:05 pm ET

Bush? Does he still matter?

Patrick   July 23rd, 2008 6:05 pm ET

What will they talk about at the Republican convention? A failed war. A failed domestic and international policy? Failed health care? Rising unemployment? The dollar destroyed? Our reputation around the world in the toilet? So much to be proud of the past 8 years! LOL This will be fun to watch.

Steve   July 23rd, 2008 6:05 pm ET

Bush is the lightning rod for all things that people dislike about the way Republicans have run the country. In general, except for a few terminally stupid people like Rush Limbaugh, everyone is very much anxious to see the Republicans take their exit. it doesn't matter if Bush and McCain are seen together or not. They're both toast.

It's pretty sad that these two guys don't want to really be seen together. Says a lot about how hosed up the country is right now, when two conservatives from the same party don't want to appear together.

The snobbish, boring Republicans are so stupid that they still do not phathom the utter distaste that most Americans have for Bush and their parties' programs and policies. The Republican party has set back the U.S.A. for decades. They have literally sold out the U.S. to the Chinese and Middle East and are much bigger terror threats than Al Quaeda ever was. Additonally, whenever I see or hear a Republican that a Republican is giving or going to give a speech, I stay as far away as possible lest I get tainted.

Texas Trail Dog! – "McCain is his own man".

What! McCain is his own man? You can't be serious. McCain has been Bush's man ever since Bush has been in office. If McCain were his own man he would have floored Bush after Bush and his campaign slandered and trashed McCain's wife in the 2000 primary in South Carolina. But what does McCain do. Hugs and supports Bush on the convention stage after Bush wins the primary. McCain is his own man? Your definition of a man is sure different then mine.

Texas Trail Dog!   July 23rd, 2008 5:23 pm ET

Lesley – No, what does it tell us. if you have nothing to say then please don't make comments. McCain is his own man has been his own man and will continue to be his own man. Unlike Obama, who will be the BOY of, Kennedy, Kerry, Pelosi, Kerry, Dean, Byrd and etc of the DNC. He can not affect change unless it meets the approval of these MANY, MANY, MANY COMBINED YEARS OF OLD OPPOSITION SITTING IN CONGRESS AND THE SENATE. YOU THINK THEY WON'T HAVE TO APPROVE EVERYTHING OBAMA DOES. THEN THINK AGAIN OBAMA IS NOT HIS OWN MAN. FIRST PLACE HE DOESN'T HAVE A CLUE OF BEING HIS OWN MAN. HE CAN'T DEPEND ON HIS UN-PATRIOTIC WIFE MICHELLE TO TELL HIM WHAT TO DO. MAYBE HE CAN GET SOME INFORMATION FROM REV. WRIGHT AND REV. JACKSON. BUT I THINK HE BURNT HIS BRITCHES WITH THEM ALSO. SO HE'S A LAME DUCK EVEN BEFORE HE TAKES OFFICE.

bob in L.A.   July 23rd, 2008 5:23 pm ET

i'D LIKE TO SUGGEST THE WORDING OF HIS SPEECH:
"D d da dib da dib- That's all folks!"
Then he can leave the stage, leave the whitehouse and leave us to sort out his mess.

Xavier, Saint Louis, MO   July 23rd, 2008 5:23 pm ET

Bill, Alabama   July 23rd, 2008 5:14 pm ET

Both of these self serving, ancient thinking, elitest, old men spell nothing but trouble for the Republican cause, especially if they appear together.

Biffington, Biff   July 23rd, 2008 5:14 pm ET

My guess is… they get bush "out of the way" REALLY early… and hell no…. jonny-mac will NOT be appearing with "the decider"…

(can you imagine the democratic commercials with the two of them hugging it out on the convention stage, with chants of "four more years")…

will never happen…. that's a democratic strategists wett dream…

James Hussein, SC   July 23rd, 2008 5:13 pm ET

How can President Bush show up at the RNC without his shadow?

Matthew   July 23rd, 2008 5:12 pm ET

Who cares?

Why does the media try to turn this into an issue????

Lesley   July 23rd, 2008 5:06 pm ET

Neither of these guys want to be seen with each other. Doesn't that tell you something?
