(CNN) - White House Press Secretary Dana Perino has confirmed that President Bush will address the Republican National Convention on its first night.
Perino told reporters today at the White House briefing that President Bush will deliver a speech on September 1, Labor Day. She said incumbent presidents traditionally address the RNC on the first night of the convention.
The White House has not yet said whether Bush might appear with presumptive nominee John McCain at the convention. The two men have made few joint public appearances since McCain effectively claimed his party’s nomination this spring, as the president’s approval ratings continue to hover near historic lows.
Republicans will hold their convention September 1-4, 2008 in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. Democrats are slated to hold their convention the week before in Denver, Colorado.

Lesley, that tells me that they are seeing each other secretly. A private relationship.
And Bill Clinton will address the DNC... with Barack Obama at his side (completely overshadowed!)... in Mile High Stadium... ("We are NOT overbudget!"... that's something you'll hear all the time with Barack in office... LOL!)
An appearance by Bush equals the Kiss-of-Death.
Why not just bring in the mafioso to plant a kiss on the cheek of McCain?
Republicans should hide their faces after the last eight years. This administration has been the worst in my lifetime, and that goes back to FDR. The selfishness, lying, corruption, warmongering by chicken hawk republicans, and so much more. Shame on you who voted for Bush/Cheney.
Doesn't matter. Why??
Cause there cousins, Identical cousins all the way.
Two pair of matching bookends, the same all the way!!!
Can you imagine the field day the late night talk show hosts will have with the republican convention? One guy cant read the teleprompter and the other guy cant find it.Why dont they have Rush Limbaugh deliver the keynote address?
How would you like to be the person introducing Bush at the Republican convention?Lets see them whoop it up for the big guy right in front all voters in this country showing everyone what they stand for.
A picture says a thousands words.
The DNC should run an Obama ad with this picture ONLY. No sound, no music, just silence for about 15 or 20 seconds. . . well, maybe they can use a couple of crickets in the background making noise.
I don't get all you libs out there. McCain should be honored to stand next to a great president like George Bush. He will be remembered as one of the true greats!!
FOUR MORE YEARS!
I thought McCain just accredited Bush with lowering oil prices. Why wouldn't these two want to be seen together? Two peas in a pod.
HIS MASTER BUSH WILL CALL AND HE WILL ANSWER THAT HOW HE HAS BEEN TRAINED !!!!!!!!
They are fraternal twins and are inseparable
This relationship sounds like the Luther Vandross song, "If only for one night"
I WON'T TELL A SOUL
NO ONE HAS TO KNOW
IF YOU WANT TO BE TOTALLY DISCREET
I'LL BE AT YOUR SIDE
IF ONLY FOR ONE NIGHT
This must be a private affair. This stuff keeps getting better and better. Thanks for the material McSame!!!
President Bush will address the Republican National Convention on its first night. That's ok Mr bush is cool at least you know where he stands... he attends Church .....McCain try to hook with all the Evangelicals to get votes..Wonder if he fellowship any where !!!...........Please don't let Phil Gramm Speak oh my I can remember it like Yesterday ........You Guys Remember I can't stand to Talk about it mess up my day just thinking about it
Texas Trail Dog
You areworst then McCain, everything you said has nothing to do with Obama being his own man. You and your cheap shots.
Obama is not being lead by his wife, he is a strong man with a strong woman. I’m sure you have know idle what that looks like. Next time you want say something about President Obama please comes up with something concrete and not cheap shots. Something real and not something lame. You make the rest of the McCain fan’s look even more stupid then you guys already do!
Oh please let them be seen together, it only helps more people realize how alike they are. No more Bush, and No McBush ever!

REALLY SAD IF SHOWING UP WITH THE INCUMBENT IS A GREAT LIABILITY.
WHO EVER VOTED TO BUSH/CHENEY WAS DECEIVED.
STOP THE MADNESS. VOTE OBAMA.
Texas Trail Dog! – "McCain is his own man".
What! McCain is his own man? You can't be serious. McCain has been Bush's man ever since Bush has been in office. If McCain were his own man he would have floored Bush after Bush and his campaign slandered and trashed McCain's wife in the 2000 primary in South Carolina. But what does McCain do. Hugs and supports Bush on the convention stage after Bush wins the primary. McCain is his own man? Your definition of a man is sure different then mine.
texastraildog you have some anger issues huh? So you say McCain is his own man huh? Why did he vote with President Bush 95% of the time last year? Why has he flip flopped on Bushs' tax cuts? Why has he flip flopped on offshore drilling? OH and just so you know the DEMOCRATIC party will pick up more seats in the House and Senate so what Senator Obama will want to get done will probably get done. Maybe you're the person McCains former national co-chair Phil Gramm was talking about when he said we are becoming a nation of whiners
St. Paul is gonna stink to high heaven when the RNC comes to town. I live about a mile from the convention center and we're girding ourselves for sulphur, brimstone and the reek of GOP garbage during their little event. Maybe we'll get lucky and Bush will slip and fall into the Mississippi and get washed up in New Orleans, where all the people he ignored can have a little 'quality time' with our Imbecile-in-Chief.
If they can manage to scare enough voters into voting for more war to illegally invade, hunt and kill suspicious people then George W(ar) Bush will appear with John McCain. Without the fabricated threat of evil boogey men hiding in darkened doorways and under our beds, it's doubtful they will appear together.
Bush is a buffoon, and so is John if he campaigns with him. He will be the loneliest candidate on the planet if he hitches his star to this wagon.
Yeehaaaaaaaaaaa, two losers.
Aw, they are so cute together.
MCCAIN=BUSH
what's wrong with that???
Frick & Frack. Mutt & Jeff. Dumb & Dumber. Bevis & Butthead. Ralph & Ed. What a team. Old & Older. What a joke the republicans are. Blinded by hate.
Obama08
Those two must have been the inspiration behind Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum. I say trot them out there together on stage and have Bush kiss McCain on top of the head again......that was a great moment in history.
Oh please let them be seen together, it only helps more people realize how alike they are. No more Bush, and No McBush ever!
